Great spot for casual meal, right on the Ohio River in the heart of Marietta. Unfortunately there was a chance of a thunderstorm the day we came, so drove instead of boating over, but I love the possibility of being able to boat right up and use their dock while grabbing a bite to eat! They have about 6 homemade BBQ sauces that you can choose from. The blueberry one was surprisingly my favorite! I had the brisket sandwich, my fiancé had some wings and ribs and we were both impressed by the BBQ. The mac and cheese was amazingly cheesy and delicious and I felt like I needed a nap afterwards. If you're gonna do BBQ, you gotta go all in, so I wouldn't come here if you are looking for a light snack. We got to sit outside under covered seating which was great when the rain actually rolled in. There is a nice patio for outdoor seating and a ton of seating inside. Stopped here for lunch on a fairly busy Sunday. Its an out-of-the-way place, situated on the Ohio shore of the Ohio River just south of where the Muskingham River meets the Ohio. An old wood structure, long bar, lots of formica and cheap tables and chairs. You can eat outside or in the bar area. Don't look too closely into the kitchen as you leave the men's room. Modest pricing and modest food to match it. The pulled pork was good, though the bun on which it came was soggy after the sandwich apparently sat in the kitchen a bit too long before we were served. Waiter was OK, but had to be asked for such simple things as silverware, BBQ sauce (!), freshen the drinks, bring the check. The reeking remains of a pit fire did not add anything good to the atmosphere. I will try it again when I am in the area. read more

Food: ribs were good and the shrimp(chilled) special at $12.00 a lb was great. Huge shrimp! Prime Rib was spot on. Special- fried oysters were not good. The food saved the 2 stars from zero. The service was terrible. It took over 20 mins for the server to visit our table. After we received our food she could not be found for over an hour. We ordered all you can eat ribs but what's the point when the server never revisits? We would have liked more drinks with our meal. Not asking a lot. I will not be coming back again. The people working were nice enough, but the overall service was terrible. The first both we sat didn't even have enough space for an adult to shift. The booths have been shifted and they didn't seem to care. Luckily we were moved, but even after everyone was gone from the next table, every staff member still ignored the fact that we mentioned the tables were shifted and adults couldn't fit there. Eventually they made a family split up into two tables and had the kids sit there, and even that was tight. I'm about an hour, our server only checked on us once to inform us there was still a ticket ahead of us before they would make our food. When we got it, every single item was lukewarm at best. Some of our dishes were actually inedible. The cold macaroni tasted like it was made with American cheese singles, and not worth the price. The kids corn dogs were burnt, and all the fries were cold. The burger ordered was missing the sauce that should have come on the burger. The staff wasn't rude, but certainly neglectful, and the food would never make me come back again. Edit: I left early with the child, but the check was wrong. When our party tried to tell the waitress she left food off the bill (and she'd potentially get in trouble for leaving two entrees off), she scoffed and argued that it was correct. We had my grandsons 16th birthday at the Boathouse last night. The server (Allison) was terrific. We were a large party of 16 and she was the only waitress assigned to us! Food was phenomenal! One person at our table wasn't happy with the hot sauce, waitress tells the chef, and sent him an off the menu sauce that was spot one with a great punch. The food was very good. I had a "create your own" burger with bacon, bbq sauce, and ghost pepper jack cheese (which wasn't as hot as I'd hoped). Others with me had wings, ribs, and the seafood pasta. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. We also had the BBQ nachos for an appetizer and they were very delicious. They have a good beverage selection and live music as well. My main gripe is the confusion in getting seated. We walked in and there were 3-4 other groups of people waiting for a seat. The host asked us how many and if we wanted to be seated inside or out. I said outside if possible. She then told me it would be an hour and twenty minutes to be seated outside, 45 minutes inside. We had her put a name down and started to wait. The thing is, there were many, many open tables. She pointed to a booth and said we could sit there to wait and have a drink from the bar. We did. About 15 minutes later (and not 45), we were called for our seat. They sat us in a booth DIRECTLY ACROSS THE ROOM from where we already were, not 50 feet away. There was no discernible reason that we couldn't have just been seated there and served in the first place. The entire time, we saw many other people come in, ask to be seated, and express the exact same confusion. By the time we left, every open table had been seated but we were outside enjoying the music and the view of the river at that point. Once we were seated, things were great. The server was friendly, prompt, and got our order exactly right. We will definitely return but hopefully they'll have cleared up their seating process by then. read more

Issue with this, I'm gnat able to eat food without utensils. Wife got up and got some from the server station.
