Dined at dinner time over Christmas break after skiing at nearby Monarch. Service was good, food was what we expected for a bar & grill type restaurant. They have quite a number of beers on tap from Colorado micro-breweries, which is a plus. The location is fabulous for Salida - right on the Arkansas river. Even at night in the wintertime, it was nice to sit by a window and watch the ice chunks float by! Great for a casual meal - I recommend the chips/salsa if you enjoy a spicy-hot salsa. read more

Sat night in Salida... eat early - everything was closed by 8:30 but the Boathouse. What a delightful surprise, I had the best protobello burger I've ever had, great bloody Mary, fine service, and enjoyable pub atmosphere. My salad was delish and my husbands chimichange was good too. read more

Fibark at the Boathouse was great. Bartenders were cranking out the drinks and keeping everyone happy. Best part was Misty and the girls hiring a DJ and turning the usually vacant back area into a dance club. I literally forgot I was in Salida. Hopefully the Boathouse will realize that they could pack that area every Friday and Saturday night with something this town really needs. read more

The only reason I have this place 2 stars was the food was good. The service was horrible. It took almost 20 minutes to get drinks, the food order was wrong. The item we received was more expensive then what was ordered, she didn't even apologize for the wrong food of offer some sort of compensation for the inconvenience of waiting for the right food to be made, while everyone else ate. I asked for a coke and got a second alcoholic drink that was never ordered, and the waitress said I still had to pay for it. Never again will I come back. read more

My girlfriend asked for gluten-free and the chef made a personal visit to our table to check on her degree of tolerance as the potato chips go in the same fryer as other gluteny foods. We have been going here for years. It's a great spot to view the river, however, the gourmet burgers we had there in the past are no longer present. The burger was mushy and the bottom bun was almost dissolved it was so wet. The meat was watery and undercooked. Still worth a visit but beware of the burger! read more

Our family came in for a birthday, there were 12 of us, all locals. Our server was Christine. After an ok time with less than average service, we are shoved a bill with a 25% gratuity added on and told it would not be getting split. We continued to attempt to settle up with each other, all beyond just ticked that a below average job serving was now deeming herself worthy of a above average tip, but also was not able to get our servers attention to try and rectify the situation or even to give her payment. Another staff member had to get our payment submitted. I worked in the service industry for 15 years, I get how it goes, but deeming yourself worthy of a 25% tip when we barely saw you, had to flag you down for drinks that had been empty for 15 minutes, and then dropping the bill and disappearing is outrageous. I have the utmost respect for many Boathouse staff but we will likely be taking large family gatherings elsewhere to avoid such a turbulent finale to our night. I do want to leave a thank you to Cody for helping us fix our bill, even though Christine still ended up with more of a tip than she deserved. read more

Great food and great service! Highly recommend! Party of 5 at happy hour. We started with the stuffed mushrooms they were delicious. We also had the chicken strips - very good although the honey mustard was a little strong. Pot roast Sammy great with a nice kick. Aloha chicken Sammy delish but a little messy. Owned by the same owner as Rivers Edge, both restaurants are very similar in atmosphere. They have a great spot next to the Arkansas River and a cool vibe - this is definitely the best part of the restaurant. But as far as food goes, nothing out of the ordinary. They have an okay selection of beer. read more

Food and drinks were good, the jalapeno poppers were some of the best I've ever had. Live music on Saturday night was SO loud you couldn't talk to friends at the same table. Would have been nice to tone it down a bit. Even the wait staff agreed it was to loud. Music selection was good, just couldn't enjoy it because of the volume. Also, I know straws are a waste but theirs were made of dry straw or ??? and they just crumbled. Kids need a decent straw. read more

My husband and I stopped in for margaritas, which were just ho-hum. Our server was very nice. Our table overlooked the river, which would have been great, but the windows were quite dirty. It is winter, though, so maybe they'll get a good cleaning this Spring. Stopped here for lunch on a business trip with my boss who is sort of a foodie type, so it's always a hard decision choosing a place when I'm with him. I was not disappointed. It's in a beautiful location right on the edge of the river in and old building with lots of charm. There was a good selection of different kinds of food and it was tasty. We were staying at the Palace Hotel and this place is just a few doors down. It was Super Bowl Sunday. We were seated right away, had great service, and they had some very nicely priced Super Bowl Specials. We ordered the fried chicken plate and everything was delicious. Excellent fried chicken! Although much of their menu is mexican/southwest, they have a variety of non-hispanic dishes too. I loved how much the menu offered. I would eat here again for sure! read more

A super fun place, lively, and by that I mean plan on waiting for your table and food. We lucked out due to being a two-top, so we were seated right away, but receiving our bevs and food was a different story. To his credit our waiter said, 'I'm slammed, if you're ordering a drink you should consider making it a double.' My husband did just that, but for me, I ordered a beer, could see the tap handle feet away from me, could see the bartender working like a champ, "cocktail" four-arm style, but I was never the recipient of his pours. It took me a good 25 minutes to get a tap beer that that should have, could have arrived in five minutes if they were better staffed. Our waiter seemed to be covering most of the floor including two seven top tables. We ordered apps which arrived close to an hour after we ordered them (shrimp skewers and delicious) and then our main entrees came on the scene very shortly after that, before we were finished with the apps and not having any room on the tiny bar table. My cobb salad sans bacon was delicious, and my hubby liked his black and blue burger with fries a good deal. All that to say, even if you ignore us we'll be back, because this place is hoppin with an incredible setting and fun vibe. read more

Waited close too a hour for a table! 6:20 Checked with her to find out about our table and she tells us that she sent us a text that we never got! 6:50 Waited 30 more minutes and she tells me she sent us a text that we never got!!! Watched close to 12 groups of people sit down. 7:00 After I said something else to her she tells me that she messed up and hit the wrong so that is why we got skipped and it would be another 20 min!! 7:20 finally got a table!!
