This place is beautiful! So many acres of land. Their boats "Roberto and Madeline" are stunning. They are dog friendly big plus on my end. We loved this place! We thought the wines were delicious. We really liked them all-especially the bubbly. The service was incredible. The man explaining to us about the wines knew a TON, loved the wines he was describing, knew about the winery, knew a TON about the boats and loved to fist pump! My kind of guy! Our tasting was laid out beautifully. We had an intimate table for two inside that looked out to the grounds outside. We loved the drive on the way up and the boats were beautiful. Rare for me, but my wife convinced me to do this and I really enjoyed the experience. I'm kind of a wanna be foodie, but now ... we're doing this wine thing. First and foremost, great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. And the Rosé of Malbec was perfect, but their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was incredibly smooth. I'm a fan. Looking forward to returning. Oh and I signed up for thier club and quarterly wines. Well worth the visit. I highly recommend a trip up north to do at minimum--two or three hours in one of their cabanas. Our friend made a "Captain's Table" reservation for us during our trip to Lake County this weekend. Our warm and knowledgeable hostess Francesca took excellent care of us. She started off by handing us glasses of their Sauvignon Blanc, which was so refreshing on a scorching day. She then walked us through the periphery showing us where the Petit Syrah and Cab Sauvignon grew respectively. Our second glass was their rose of Malbec, which was a first for me! She told us about how they use a type of technique where a central cylindrical bladder expands to gently extract juice from the grapes. We also got to see how their white wines and roses were fermented in these specialized concrete refrigerated barrels. We got to taste one of their recently harvested/fermented wines, which was cloudy in appearance and pleasantly sweet. The next part of the tour was visiting/gawking at all the 14 luxury boats owner Robert Mount boasted, which was quite the treat! Francesca knew by heart and remembered all the details of each boat. I never knew that boats could be so entertaining! After the boat tour, Francesca led us upstairs where the table was already set and prepared for us. Even the menu had all of our names typed out! We then proceeded with a tasting of four different reds (Cab 2017, Cab 2018, Cab 2016, and Petit Syrah 2018). Once seated, Francesca taught us several different ways to examine and smell wine. First we tilted the wine and looked at the meniscus of the wine against white paper, which apparently could say a lot about the wine's age and types of mixes that help to create the wine. We then placed our nostril to the bottom rim of the wine glass and took a sniff; then we compared it to the scents we picked up from placing our nose bridge to the top of the glass rim. Such revelation! I never knew that various scents could be picked up with these techniques. Before swirling the wine to aerate it, she asked us to take a sip and describe what we tasted. Normally I would always feel too self conscious to say anything but in Francesca's presence she was not at all judgmental and was very open to different opinions. She also encouraged us to play with the wine on our tongue by taking a small sip and then sucking a little bit of air in our mouth through our teeth. The last exercise consisted of determining which nostril was more dominant by pressing and closing one of the nostrils while we smelled the wine. That was a lot of fun! Francesca also recalled one of our friends preferred white wine. I'm so impressed by her attention to detail! Instead of using one glass for all tastings, we each got 4 glasses so we could try them in order and also go back and play around with the techniques she showed us. Luckily for us, all of the wines were very interesting and tasty. Because of this epic experience with Francesca we really thought hard about signing up for a membership. We ended up on getting their canned Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of their Petit Syrah. Their pricing is fair compared to Napa/Sonoma wines and you get more bang for your buck. If it weren't for the long drive from East Bay, we might have signed up right away! Looking forward to visiting this lovely vineyard again! read more

I have been to this winery several times now. Unfortunately the last time we did not get any pictures, however it was one of our best tasting yet! We had an appointment for 6 of us on a Saturday in October. When we got there a table was set up for us with 4 different tasting glasses with wine already in them. We ordered some food plates at $20 each and shared them. The best part of this winery is the boat exhibit. The vintage boats inside are truly each one of a kind and all in mint condition. Worth driving up here to just see that in my opinion. This place also has outside seating and during the summer, they are known to host events open to the public. Review #046 - 2018 Disclosure: I don't drink so my review is based on my experience as a tourist, not a wine drinker. We showed up around 2 PM on Saturday, March 10th, for the Tulip Festival. I love flowers so if there's some type of flower garden setting, I'm there! I was really looking forward to coming here when I saw the post on Facebook because the tulips looked so beautiful from their previous year's photos. So, I rounded up my siblings and our kids and we made the 2.5-hour drive out here. Parking was a nightmare! People just parked everywhere that they thought was ok. They had a guy outside, who was supposed to be directing traffic, but just one guy was not enough for this event. The bathroom had two stalls and you know women always go to the bathroom in crowds so the line was super long. They ran out of tissues and paper towels and someone finally came by to refill them after many people went to complain. The tulips were barely blooming when we were there so everyone pretty much crowded around the two beds that were blossomed. What a nightmare! If they did a better job with planning this out correctly, I'd say it would definitely be more enjoyable & successful. The winery itself is huge and very beautiful so I'd love to come back & visit when there isn't a huge event where everyone's stepping on each other. read more

Adorable winery for $5 a glass you can sip and enjoy their boat and car collection or sit outside on their benches and stare at the beautiful scenery. It was a great stop on my tour of Lake County. I don't drink that much but my sister had a nice glass of Chardonnay. To make it super cool I think it would've been great if they offered me an ice water or iced tea in a wine glass or something for me to drink. But they didn't so my sister drank and I went without. So, the most important thing, the wine :) They're great, I thought the cab was the best I've tasted in three years in the U.S. The whites were great too, a really nice variety. We bought a couple of bottles and had a look around the beautiful boats. They also have a cool amphibious car and a '57 Thunderbird, so you feel kinda James Bond-y wandering around with a glass of wine in your hand. Downside - The woman doing the tasting seemed like she totally couldn't care less if anyone enjoyed it. She didn't seem to know anything about the wine (or if she did, she definitely didn't want to talk about it..) Upside of her total lack of interest in what she was doing: she couldn't remember where we were on the list, so we had the cab twice. Win. Full marks for the wine and boats, nul points for the lady doing the tastings. If it was my job to hang out in a beautiful winery all day and talk about wine, I'd be a whole lot more enthusiastic about it... Go to Laujor 2 minutes away where the tasting lady is really nice and actually tells you about the menu. read more

What an incredible place! First, of course, the wines. There are a nice number of very high quality wines that Boatique produces. While everybody has their favorite, I would say these are definitely competitive with first-class wines. The proof of that is some of the awards they've received which they're proud to share. Since wines are SO subjective, I will just suggest you go try for yourself. That's where part two of their passion comes in - incredible wooden/historic boats. The winery not only has great wines but is a showplace for the owner's beautiful collection of vintage wooden boats. From fast speed boats to beautiful cruisers to historically-significant craft, there is the most eye-popping display of these boats and a tasting includes a stroll through the showroom of these boats. There are also a few vintage cars here including an Amphicar which is both a car and a boat. This place alone is a reason to visit this region - you palate will be rewarded as will your vision. This was the second stop for me while enjoying the 2019 Wine Adventure in Lake County. The location had great views, ample parking, and super friendly staff. I enjoyed browsing the classic cars and boats that were all located inside the main hangar of the winery. However, the food pairing that was offered to compliment all the pourings that weekend was just popcorn with a variety of toppings to add. I thought that was lame because it seemed like the winery did not care to put in the effort or time to create a decent pairing for their wines (popcorn really is not food, per se). This review of mine is primarily about the Tulip Festival at the Boatique Winery (March 10, 2018). Thanks to the REMARKABLE marketing, I was drawn to this festival. Their Facebook page, had featured posts about tulip Blossoms from previous years. Apparently, it claimed they had 8500 different varieties of it. I drove for all for almost 3 hours to reach this place. I thought there would be a big field of Tulips in the winery setting. Fact Check: Two beds of Tulips in bloom. Seriously you would find more Tulips at, "Home Depot Garden Center". The place was over-crowded, the much-advertised Tulip, Wine and Music festival was a complete waste of time. Food on most stalls was all sold out. To add to the misery, parking was a nightmare. The winery was beautiful but there was long queue outside the tasting room. It appeared as if everyone was stepping on each other. There were some nice boats and car on display behind the tasting room. I would say these were the saving grace for this over hyped Tulip Festival. I can't comment upon the selection of Wines, as I didn't get a chance, but if you are considering it for Tulip event. Just one word. It's a LETDOWN. read more

TULIP FESTIVAL WAS TERRIBLE! I agree 100% with post by Sivilay T. My father passed away 2 weeks ago, so my daughter and I thought getting my mom out of the house (also 2.5 HOURS away) to look at beautiful tulips in bloom and enjoy the winery would be fun. NOT. The parking was a joke...no one had a clue what they were doing. My mom is unfortunately in a wheelchair, and my grandson is 6 months old and in a stroller. ABSOLUTELY NOT WHEELCHAIR OR STROLLER ACCESSIBLE. One idiot parked us in one parking space, then another told me to move, and both spaces were in the upper area, which meant pushing the wheelchair and stroller up and down a very steep hill. Then all that gravel...ugh. And seriously, two beds of tulips in bloom...NOT the 8500 as marketed. Rude, pushy people...a few who were so intoxicated that we had to maneuver away from them. Very few booths...nice vendors though at the two we were able to visit. Overall a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. Someone who knows what they are doing should be hired to handle their upcoming events.
