This was our first winery stop, as it was near our Airbnb. Easy to find but the roads are windy if you are a cautious driver. If you are not, you need to be on these roads. So fun! We weren't sure if we were in the right place as the small parking area looks like the loading dock and backside of an industrial building, but we found the signs and hoped the port-o-potties weren't for customers. We were directed to claim a table outside on the shady patio and ordered the tasting flight. We were generously spaced from other tables and it appears they take their Covid protocols seriously. The person serving was very knowledgeable but seemed wary of us or he was just annoyed. I couldn't tell which but Keetna's review is true, I just didn't take much offense to it. As long as he brought wine, and was polite, I would be too and all was fine. By the end of our hour visit and tasting experience, he had warmed up to us and all was well. We were able to cash out from just inside the building, as well as, use the nice air conditioned restroom, which was appreciated on a hot August afternoon. The view is beautiful. Do make this a stop on your list if you are in the area.

This had to be one of the most beautiful wineries we visited over Memorial day weekend. Breathtaking views of the vineyards stretched across the hill side. Wonderful sunny balconies to sip a glass of wine (guest house). Terrific hospitality and wonderful service. We stayed at Greg's Crimson Hill guest house. Great find and just a 10 minute walk down to the winery. Greg has a very strategic and scientific method to his wine making. You can tell he is very passionate about his art. With that said all the wine is excellent.

The wine is not very good here, and the staff is not friendly. We didn't stay long, and we did not buy anything.

You must try their wonderful jammy Zinfandel. It's the best in California. It was worth the trip.

Good, inexpensive wine, cute pups, and a friendly wine maker. What more can you ask for? I will definitely be going back.

After coming from Vigilance, this one was hard to have fun at. Wine was okay, cold wine tasting room, and no personality. Keep driving.

I took 6 wine bottles to our Country Club to our "Ladies who Lunch and Love Fine Wine" and I was totally embarrassed the Wine Master couldn't get the cork out in one piece. We open 6 bottles and we drank cork we every sip. So, DO NOT BUY THIS WINE because it tastes like aged vinegar and cork! I have been a member of this "Ladies who Lunch who Love Fine Wine" for 15 years and I was so humiliated. So, lesson learned. I called Mitch, the owner of Hawk & Horse and he did NOT offer any suggestions. I ordered a 2022 bottle and it had the same problem. Mitch is too cheap to sell his "fine & over priced wine" with a proper cork. Forger the 4K I spent with supporting a small business owner (only 13 acres) I will never get over the humiliation from these women who trusteed me. After calling Mitch, the owner who needs to retire. He was hostile and on speaker phone at the luncheon. He has LOST all of his ATLANTA business. We are Southern and we talk and tell it All. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the weather, overcast and cloudy with some sun finally appearing toward the end. But still had some amazing views. The wines were all very good with some being standouts. The number and size of the tastings were more than acceptable. Our host Jazzlynn was personable and informative. She had nothing but positive things to say about the winery, owners, winemaker and working there--all pluses in my book as I love supporting family-run businesses who care about their employees. The drive up the mountain to get to Wild Diamonds in Lake County is nice and also provides for the great scenery while tasting in the "rooms with a view". With enough notice (48 hours) they can have charcuterie boards available for you. I thought I also heard them say you're welcome to bring your own--but don't quote me on that... verify! If you want to get away from the commercialized options in Napa and Sonoma, you won't go wrong at Wild Diamonds!

(Doesn't have to be romantic; can also be fun with girlfriends!) This is an absolutely beautiful 3-bedroom home equipped with everything you can think of for a good time: full kitchen, dining area, patio with BBQ grill, fire pit, plenty of tables and chairs, and we even saw hammocks hanging on some trees! The rooms can be individually booked, or you can book all three for your friends and family. The home sits on a vineyard, so you get to taste their delicious wines. In the dining/living room area, you have access to games and a projector that is connected to Apple TV, so you can project a movie on the wall! How cool is that?! DANIEL gave us the best wine-tasting experience we have ever had. His explanations were thorough and very interesting. It went beyond the "peppery notes with hints of berries" descriptions you usually get at wineries. He explained the winemaking process because he has done it all, from planting grapes to making wine. And he was very kind and patient with all of our questions. And up the hill a little bit there is another home that they rent as well, and if it is vacant, you get full access to the pool! Another thing I appreciated now during covid is that the entire home was very clean! No carpet in the rooms (which makes it feel instantly cleaner already), the sheets smelled of fresh laundry detergent, and the shower was spotless. The rooms also have beautiful wooden patios. And then in the morning, we got a delicious hot breakfast by Gunay! She was so sweet and hospitable. On a sad note, they no longer have the llamas or sheep. But it is still a great experience! Also, don't be scared when you are following the GPS to arrive here! It's literally in the middle of no where! In conclusion to my short novel, we will definitely be returning with friends and enjoy all of the amenities!
