Let's start with the service it's been a long time since I've seen service like this. The waiters and waitresses were hustling they would almost run to clean tables and serve food. It was a busy morning, but they never stopped. Patricia (I assume a waitress on her day off) came to eat with her family when she saw how busy it was she got up and she begin bussing tables, serving food pouring coffee. The food was normal diner style food, there was a lot of it and it was hot and good. We would like to come for lunch because it looked good maybe next time we're in town. The dessert and cinnamon rolls looked good as well but we didn't have any room. 4 stars well deserved!!! read more

Love this place. We have been going to this restaurant for the last eight years and it just keeps getting better and better. The food is good. And the staff is kind. Every so often they will have a really great specials. My kids love to go here and get hot chocolate. They make the hot chocolate such a special experience for them by adding sprinkles to the top my daughter loves eating their bear pancakes. We chose this cafe for lunch on our road trip due to the high rating but it was very disappointing. Had an early dinner around 5pm, place wasnt busy but was shortly after we arrived. We had the roast beef and the Santa Fe burger, burger was excellent, tasted like it was cooked over charcoa, like the best backyard burger I've ever had. Roast beef was underwhelming, a little dry and not a lot of flavor, brown gravy made it better. Green chili was pretty good, just about dipped everything in it. The burgers are very good. The patties are home sized, not those thin patties served at other places. The fries are home cut and fried to perfection. Every plate I saw come out of the kitchen, and we had a perfect view of that kitchen window, looked delicious! The service was quick, friendly, and on point. I highly recommend Bob and Earle's. We've eaten here before when staying and/or passing through Trinidad and have always enjoyed it. They've apparently changed owners and are short staffed so take that into consideration when reading this review. We waited 5 mins to be greeted and sat. We were sat at a table that apparently wasn't associated with a waitress. We flagged someone down to place an order only to find they DO NOT SERVE breakfast all day despite being handed a menu that stated otherwise. Another person in my party did have a menu with "all day" scratched out. My menu must have been missed with that revision. A couple that was behind us in line were seated, ordered, ate and left before we even ordered. A waste of an hour and a half of my life and $30. Just disappointed all the way around. But the ladies working there continue to be polite and doing the best they can. read more

Bob and Earl's is a classic hole-in-the-wall diner that offers good food, friendly service, and cheap prices. We were visiting from Houston headed to Breckenridge and stayed in Trinidad for the night. They took care of our party of 7 and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The pancakes were my favorite. So fluffy and buttery. Their coffee is great too. The locals that were dining gave us a few funny looks; maybe they have been annoyed by visitors in the past. But they hung around and took their time reading the paper and sipping on coffee. It was like a step back in time. I would visit again if ever in the area. We stopped in at this little spot for breakfast and we will now be going there for breakfast every time we drive through and/or stay over in Trinidad. We drive to Texas and back frequently and usually opt out for fast food. NEVER AGAIN! I had the western omelette and it was very tasty! My husband had the smothered breakfast burrito and our boys had pancakes and french toast. The salsa was one of the best I have had in Colorado! If you're on I-25 looking for a place to grab a bite, read further only after you've exited the highway in this direction. Now, it's nothing fancy. Super small. Less than 10 tables. Great service, friendly, good coffee. Our food came out really quickly, too! Get the chi-Lee burger. The half is plenty. If there are two of you, don't share a large one if you want to stay friends. Get your own. It's so good it makes you territorial about your food. No joke. Enjoy that, and even if you're not hungry afterward, get a slice of pie. We had pecan. Perfect crust. Found this local gem on Yelp and decided to try it on our way back to Albuquerque from Denver. Looks like a hole in the wall so don't be put off by outside. It's clean, simple and could not ask for better service - very friendly and welcoming. Tried their specialty Chi-lee burger - open-face with green chile sauce and fries on top. We split the large order and more than enough. Saved room for their homemade blueberry pie. All excellent. For local dining (we stay away from chains and support local business on our travels) I highly recommend. read more

This quaint little restaurant was satisfyingly delicious. My husband and I spent the morning searching for a place to eat breakfast, but when we found Bob and Earl's, boy did it check all of the boxes. They have a wide range of menu items (all home style and delicious) and a variety of pies made daily. I had the steak and eggs and my husband enjoyed their biscuits and gravy. My gut churns as I write this review. This is in part because I vehemently dislike having to give poor reviews, and in part because reviewing means I have to remember the awkwardness of the experience. Raz tells me I'm being generous in my 2-star rating, but since I'm pretty sure zero-star reviews aren't actually counted, I'm reserving the 1-star position for an experience of outright customer-abuse or actual food poisoning. Neither of those things happened today, but that's the only way the experience could have been worse. We needed breakfast on the way home from Colorado City, and we left well before anything in Colorado City was open, so our first option for food was really Trinidad. We were pretty darn excited when we went deep into the back-roads of town and crested a hill to find a completely packed parking lot. It's usually a great sign when you find where all the locals are eating... Today not so much. Our first impression was good, lots of diners happily eating as we walked in. There was no handy sign telling us whether to wait or seat ourselves, so we waited... and waited... After about 3 minutes of standing awkwardly,  one of the 2 hostess/servers confirmed that we were a party of 2 and that the table near the door, freshly vacated, was going to be bussed and prepped for us. We thanked her, and waited some more. Five minutes or so later, that same hostess/server actually bussed the table. During the intervening time, we stood awkwardly at the doorway, knowing we were blocking the entry, but not certain whether to sit at the unbussed table... We sat when invited and reviewed the menu, choosing a couple options from breakfast and one from the lunch menu, which we were informed would not be available for several more hours after ordering. I don't recall notation on the menu that lunch options were not available before a certain hour, but I chose to forego that argument.  Raz ordered the Incredible Breakfast Burrito, and specified the "large" size. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Hashbrowns sides a la carte. The "Incredible" burrito was aptly named for its lack of credibility as a breakfast burrito. The $9 "large" option contained a single egg, a pad of hashbrowns the equivalent of 1/2 the standard plating a la carte (we measured), and a single strip of bacon chopped into smaller pieces. This was placed on the other half-portion of hashbrowns and smothered in the mildest green chile sauce we can currently recall having tasted. I took some of that sauce and mixed it with my Hash for a meal that was reasonably good. Mind you, I gave up the greater portion of my hashbrowns to Raz, because his meal, while significantly more expensive than mine, was significantly smaller.  The awkward waiting commensed again then, as our server had not furnished us our ticket, and had disappeared, possibly to the rear dining room, possibly to break. Raz eventually went and stood at the counter until a line formed behind him, at which point the other hostess/server came to settle our bill. Of course, she had to track down our server to do so, and thus we got to feel awkward all over again. Seeing the popularity and the high rating of the place, it's hard not to feel personally slighted by the experience, or assume that they just don't serve our kind here (tourists). read more

Came through town while COVID-19 stay at home orders were in full effect. I wish I'd caught the waitresses name but she was amazing. Took our order over the phone and ran out our food in under 10 minutes. The pancakes are incredible and I'd highly recommend the Mexican Biscuit. Decided to give this restaurant a try. It is worth the trip off I 25 back into Trinidad. Here are some pictures of the food. The hamburgers were very good I ordered a chicken fried chicken and ended up with a chicken fried hamburger was not overly thrilled with it. would recommend trying it as all of the locals seem to come in there and get their food and they have a huge take-out give it a try. read more

Best mom & pop food jkint i have been to in a while. The breakfast was awesome. We made the mistake of asking for extra this and that. Had no idea the portuons would be so large. The price for what you get is so great. Wait staff was also quick, friendly and attentive. My entire family enjoyed everything! Qe are from the Dallas area. But our son is considering a couple of schools in Colorado. If we ever travel through again this is a must stop place! read more
