We were seated pretty rapidly the service was really slow and then we got our food it was called the coffee was cold so when I mentioned it to the waitress brought our food she said I'm not your waitress and I said I realize that however the food was cold and she said one of her sons a manager over but he's never showed up potatoes were burnt the bacon is for extra crispy was real limp. Honestly I have grown to hate this place over the years, the food is either over cooked or to small of a portion for the price, we always have to wait to be seat but when we are taken to our table we can't help but notice the 5 tables that need to be cleaned (someone can't clean these so people don't have to wait?) we always ask for unsweetened tea and usually get sweetened, not sure what's complicate about that, we eat our food and then wait forever for the waitress or waiter to bring our check, we have asked for dinner rolls before the meal in the past an have actually gotten them after we ate our main course We will never be going back here again. read more

This experience will be the last time my family and I will ever set foot in Bob Evans. We were sat without being given a booster seat/high chair for out toddler and we didn't get one until someone came to our table to see what we wanted to drink, 10 mins later. After another 5 mins of waiting, someone came to take our order. When the food finally came, my wife's food was completely the wrong thing she ordered, but she didn't want to wait another 20 mins to get her correct food, and the plates for our two young children were even too hot for me to handle, yet thinks it's ok to place in front of children. The management was hiding in the back instead of maintaining order. This place has become a pathetic joke. Poor service, no common sense, mediocre food, dirty floors and tables. I will never set foot in this establishment ever again. They are lucky my wife and I intercepted the plates, because if my child had been burned, a poor review would be the least of their problems. We just ordered take out for a family of four and literally every single item was either burnt (burnt sausage, bacon, eggs, hotcakes, and grilled cheese) or so undercooked it was inedible (two orders of french toast -- and they didn't bother to use the brioche bread... we were served soggy, egg soaked bread that I'm pretty sure never saw a griddle). The staff wouldn't provide butter and syrup when we asked for it, and couldn't put the order together right (mysterious fruit cup, anyone?). Food did not seem very fresh. Someone in my group ordered cooked carrots and there was a mix of orange and brown in color. (They did not look very fresh). The food overall did not feel very fresh. I ordered a burger and there was a chunk missing from the bun which looked like it may have molded and been cut out. The place seemed very dirty and the service was slow and we were not checked on very frequently. Horrible, stay away from this branch of Bob Evans. Went their with someone else and we both got the 3 course meal they're offering. Got the first course (soup) in a reasonable amount of time. I got the cheddar potato soup, it tasted as if I took Kraft Mac & Cheese, drained the noodles, and drank the sauce. Our main course (we each got steak), took 40 minutes to arrive. The 3 course meal was also supposed to come with unlimited bread, problem is we only saw the waiter once during the long wait. When the steaks did arrive, one of them was burnt to a crisp (both were supposed to be medium-rare). Normally we would have sent it back, but the prospect of waiting another 40 minutes was not appealing (I should note the dining room was not busy AT ALL). The most pathetic part of the experience was the 20 minute wait to get our dessert (which was a cookie and a bowl of ice cream....). While checking out, I informed the hostess of the problems we had experienced, she simply said "Okay, here's your bill". Bottom line, stay away from Bob Evans Athens. A Wednesday morning, took 1 hour to get a ham & cheese omelette & a cup of oatmeal. Should have left when it took 15 mins to get coffee. Not crowded. Heard waitress say... have my omelette but no oatmeal. Then after an hour came with oatmeal & said someone took your omelette. Came back with cold omelette & cold home fries. Flagged down waitress said not possible they just took off grill. I requested They microwaved it then hot, but sure didn't look like a 3 egg omelette. Took another 14 mins to checkout as staff couldn't figure out how to process gift card in front of us. When finally got to pay, told counter clerk how long & issue, her comment was 'short staffed'. Looked at kitchen behind counter, 3 cooks standing around, plenty of waiters & people waiting to be seated with no one helping them. Never again. read more

Visited Bob Evans with the family for a quick easy meal. Normally Bob Evans are consistent, not fine dining but home-style. The other reviews are correct. Service was polite, but never asked how things were and it was not good. Did not taste good and looked like things were under a warmer for hours. When paying the bill, I was asked how it was and I said not good. The answer, "would you like a copy of the receipt?"...... and the manager was standing right there..... We have had better meals through the OU dining buffet line. I ate at the Athens Oh Bob Evans restaurant tonight. Not only was the service slow, but the bathrooms were totally disgusting!! There was so much pee in front of the toilets, that me and my daughter actually stuck to the floor. The toilets hadn't been cleaned in a long time because there was old dry poop on them, and tons of paper on the floor. I clean for a living so nobody can tell me that these have been cleaned in the past week or so. It's a shame to have to wait 40 min on a table, because there are no bus boys anymore. Just a bunch of empty dirty tables sitting around waiting to be cleaned. I am truley about done with all these Bob Evans restaurants. Awful customer service!! This is worth me joining Yelp! Bobs has always been a favorite of mine, so I was excited to use their online ordering system and carry out option. When I got to the restaurant at the time it told me to arrive, my order was not ready. They had not even looked at my order yet, which I can understand problems with online ordering. It took 4 people and 10 minutes for them to finally ask what my name was. The waitresses would come up ask what I had and then walk away and do something else. Not only did I watch them finally make my order, which took all of 4 minutes (a soup and salad), it took 4 more people to finally check me out. I had to ask them if I was ready to go because my order was sitting on the counter in front of me. After I finally got my food, I had to wait for the cashier, another 5 minutes to ring me out. The place was not even crowded. Additionally, when I got home I did not have any dressing for my salad, butter for my bread, or any utensils. If the food wasn't so good, I would never go back. read more

While the food at the Athens Bob Evens is ok and the wait is wonderful, new company policy leaves much to be desired. I am part of a group that has met here for 20 years, sitting in one of 2 spots. This is important to us, as they are private areas in which to talk. Due to "new corporate policy" they were unwilling to accommodate us...and were seated in a dark area....the lights in that area had been out for over a month. We've ate at many Bob Evans and lately it's very obvious these are now a corporation with shareholders to answer to. I stopped in today and got a Wildfire Chicken DINNER Salad to go. When I sat down to eat it many hours later, it's about half the size it used to be and there were only six less-than-one-inch pieces of chicken in this fairly expensive salad. I used to be able to put just one dressing on just half of the dinner salad and it was plenty, then eat the other half another time. Now the large salad is so small one dressing packet is too much. Bob Evans will not be a first-choice restaurant for us any longer, at any of their locations. read more
