We had dinner last night at the Venice,Fl. location. I ordered the country fried steak but requested beef gravy instead of country. When our dinner arrived I didn't get my extra gravy which our server remembered herself. I waited and waited, in the mean time our server spent her time chatting away with 2 other tables. So long in fact, when she finally left those tables and walked by ours my husband reminded her but I said there was no sense since I only had 3 or 4 bites left. I think she was embarrassed that she had forgotten and insisted on bringing it anyway. It was rather silly and I was rather disgusted. She is a good waitress when she isn't talking forever to customers. We have had her before and it is always the same thing. I will request not to have her from now on. read more

absolutely love this place!!! i'm from texas so when in town we always come here multiple times. food is GREAT. it's pretty quiet on the inside and never busy so i love that. service is always good and comes out super fast. i've eaten multiple things off of their menu but keep going back to the pot roast, it's really good. i've eaten here for breakfast too and from what i can recall that was good as well! i love this place, it's my favorite. read more

We went to your restaurant in Venice, FL for lunch today and the meal was horrendous. When my Mother, Grandmother and I entered, there was no signage telling us to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We weren't acknowledged by the cashier or any of the wait staff and there was no host to be found. After a few minutes I walked over to the area where five servers were standing around and asked if we seated ourselves. I was told no, the host would seat us. The host was clearing tables. I said I can see two booths cleared right now, he's doesn't seem to be clearing anything. A young man, the missing host, appeared from the kitchen swinging door a minute later and took us to one of the empty booths I had noted. A server came over, took our drink order, returned a few minutes later and took the food order. There was no issue with the server. While we were waiting, we took note of how dirty the floor was. There were pieces of paper, napkins, crumbs and straw wrappers and clearly no one had run a carpet sweeper. When the table across from us cleared, I watched the busser wipe the table and sweep all the crumbs and paper debris right onto the floor. It was quite apparent how the restaurant became so filthy. After our order was placed, it seemed to take a long time. This was only a table of three, with a burger and two chicken sandwiches. There were at least six servers, four empty tables in my direct view and certainly no reason for such a significant wait. I looked at my watch after a while and it took 17 minutes after I started keeping track. The restaurant wasn't crowded. The people at the table catty corner to us flagged down their server and asked where their food was. Finally, when the food arrived, the server warned us the plates were hot. The plates not only weren't hot, the food was look-warm at best. I ordered the burger and the roll was dry like it had been left out overnight. The burger itself was so overcooked that my Grandmother asked if I had ordered it charred. The fries were dry and cold. It was awful. My Mother and Grandmother's chicken sandwiches were cooked fine, but their rolls were also incredibly stale. Their side orders were fruit. The rotten grape topping the fruit bowl was a nice touch. Who is running your kitchen that serving this quality of food is acceptable? And why are your servers allowed to stand around doing nothing while food is sitting waiting to be served? When the server came around a few minutes later and asked how it was, I said horrid. Absolutely horrendous. I detailed the issues. She asked if I wanted it replaced. I said no. I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes and clearly there was an issue with the rolls as all three of our meals were served on stale bread. The server brought a box so I could give the burger to the dog, but removed the stale roll, and a plate full of dried, cold french fries. The server immediately left and walked straight over to the manager. I could see her describe the issue and nodded toward our table. The manager did nothing. He didn't come over to the table to apologize, to seek some input, to find out the issues. Nothing. He did nothing. At the same time the table that previously asked where their food was, sent back a plate of bacon because it was cold. There is an area in the restaurant that is between the kitchen and the seating area that is behind frosted glass. This is where all the servers and the manager seem to hang out. I have no idea where the food is prepared, but since cold food is such an issue with a restaurant at only 70 percent capacity, an expeditor or a more attentive manager might be in order. When my Mother and Grandmother finished their meals, the server brought the ticket. With the burger still on the ticket. My Mother asked for the manager. She didn't say anything about removing the burger meal. There was a significant wait. In the mean time, the server returned with a new ticket and the burger removed. Finally the manager arrived. My Mother explained the issues and he gave some ineffective apology, but by that time, the damage was done. When the problem was first brought to his attention, he should have come to the table, not 20 minutes later after the server solved the ticket issue and the customer requested his presence. As were were leaving we passed three manual floor sweepers. It's too bad no one thought to use them. Later we were discussing the visit with my Grandmother's neighbor. She volunteered that they had Thanksgiving Dinner at your restaurant. She said "Never again." She also had a less than satisfactory experience. read more

I ordered lunch for 8 and have no complaints. Staff was friendly and service was good. It was during the busy lunch hour, with several people waiting to be seated. I ordered broccoli cheddar and beef vegetable soups, a couple sandwiches, salads and meals. They remembered all of the details (butter for bread, crackers for soups, and all paper products and utensils). I will be back to try some other menu options. read more

I took my mom for birthday lunch here today. The place was clean and the waitress was great. Mom enjoyed her special order sandwich which was done correctly. I also enjoyed my lunch that included my special order drink ( 3/4 tea, 1/4 lemonade Arnold Palmer). I know, it sounds trite but it's usually not done correctly. The staff was quick and worked together making it a great dining experience for moms Bday. Good job! read more

I recently purchased a coconut cream pie for Bob Evans in Venice, FL for a company party. I was told it was being made fresh within 15 minutes. It turned out to be a total disappointment. The crust and the coconut crème filling was very dry. The only part of the pie that was edible was the whip cream topping. read more

I am a once a week patron of this Bob Evans and have been for more than a year. The service is always excellent and in the past the food has also been good "home cooking" style with good portions and reasonable (for the area) prices (especially when using the many available coupons). First, I would like to agree with the 1/9/18 reviewer about the restaurant needing a remodel of certain things (just the ceiling and carpeting would be mandatory). The service is still good, but the food, the food preparation and plating has good downhill significantly. Unfortunately, lately food is served cold, orders are wrong, wait time for food delivery exceeds a normal ticket time and portions seem to be smaller. The last time there, my potato and vegetables were served completely cold. I like this restaurant a lot and the people there and it is sad that bad kitchen staff serving less than adequate food is bringing down the quality of this restaurant. I hope the management will please take this review as constructive criticism and consider making some changes to the FOOD PREPARATION, so I can continue to eat there. There are plenty of other choices and I for one, don't spend my money at places that don't provide quality or care to make the changes necessary to keep my business. I wanted to give 4-stars, but can't because of the food, 5-stars for servers. read more

It is hard to find positive things to share about this location. My experience with Bob Evans in general has typically been good. It is the Florida version of a N.E. Diner and the food is usually on par with a decent, albeit basic hearty meal. This location failed to meet even that fairly low standard. We arrived at 5:30. Not late enough for a busy dinner rush and already every server had their hair falling out of their buns and the shirts stained with various food stuffs. The stains may have been old but this is obviously a place where the management doesn't care how the staff presents itself and the staff don't care how they look. My opinion is dirty sloppy staff equates to dirty sloppy restaurant and poor food. After sitting for 7-10 minutes with no one greeting us we asked the assistant manager to take our drink orders. He was pleasant and helpful but he also saw us sitting there for a long time getting impatient and never approached us. We had to grab him as he walked by. Our server almost made me leave the restaurant. Forgetting the fact that she never introduced herself or apologized for being missing in action she had a habit of rubbing her nose on the back of her hand. I saw her do it dozens of times and I never saw her wash her hands. I did see her come out of the kitchen chewing food then deliver plates to another table but again no hand washing. Our food was warm and edible but nothing wonderful and at that point I was already feeling grossed out by the general atmosphere of the staff and particularly our server. If I am going to spend 25-30 dollars on dinner there is an Outback nextdoor, a Chillis & and Applebees across the street. There are literally a dozen restaurants walking distance from this location trying to get my business and in the future any one of them will win. It is shame because I like Bob Evans but this location fails in a big way. read more

We went for breakfast as a family, very few finished what they got. Service was good, very pleasant. Food was bland, southwest dish was sweet, and the scrambled eggs tasted like eating a dish sponge. Gross. Coffee was good. Pancakes were meh. Bacon or biscuits were fine but Go anywhere else in Venice, FL for breakfast. Local fundraiser breakfasts are better and cheaper. read more

On August 20 th tried there new creeps ended up biting on a stick pin not good tried there web site to report it but site doesn't allow you too post so I'll go this route because I know the the manager did not put it his report no harm done but that is not the point I was lucky but maybe the next customer won't be.they did not charge me for the crepes but did charge me for the rest of the meal so big of them. read more

I was having family over for a Birthday dinner and had to work late so a friend suggested Bob Evans. I called and the Manager was so helpful with suggestions and knew exactly how much I would need for my family. I have never been to Bob Evans before and was pleased to see what a clean and cheerful establishment this is, I was greeted by a friendly girl at the register and the manager came over to make sure I had everything I needed, I wish I had gotten their names.
