Me and my dog stopped in today for breakfast. The special was french toast with strawberries and whip cream plus I added some BACON (for the dog). It was a fabulous breakfast and we got a coffee to go. We arrived, me and my dog, a Golden Retriever who loves breakfast out, and we asked to be seated at the patio. The patio was full, there was a short wait, the restaurant was packed. However, we were seated in less then 10 minutes. Our server was fast and furious at the tables she waited. I was impressed with her speed and accuracy with the orders, she was very efficient, caring and cheerful. This is a place we would certainly return to again and we often refer others to visit. This was great being Easter and with older kids it wasn't easy to pin a time down. We ordered and the shareable cornbread came out first with bacon and cheese inside and honey butter. Small disappointment was it wasn't hot. 2 Farmhouse skillets with separate types of eggs done very well. Biscuits with turkey gravy absolutely delicious! Biggest thrill, as I have never liked Turkey sausage and this changed my whole perspective. My husband's was the least appetizing. Eggs Benedict with lox. He liked it all, but the bernaisse sauce had a citrus flavor that was not complementary at all. Definitely would return because we know what to order now! We go her frequently, the food & service is always very good. I do wish they would offer a different item or special to change things up a bit One comment it's an ambiance issue only! They have these huge windows an no matter what time of the day, since their only open for breakfast & lunch The window have no shades or canopy to shield the glare . It's horrible if you sit facing the windows. Even if you sit in the back of the Resturant . It's blinding ! They need to install automatic shades to lower at least 1:/2 way. Or use a reflective tint on the windows As I state here it not a food or service issue But it makes it uncomfortable and we are not over sensitive to light. It's a reflection glare issue from Our Florida sun . yes I wear glasses all the time in there only because of this issue . After living in Venice a few years my husband and I finally got to First Watch. I'm being a little generous with my review because overcooked/burnt potatoes should never come out of the kitchen. That is a very visual, obvious flaw with the food. That to me deducts a restaurant's rating a fair amount and unfortunately that's what we experienced with our breakfast dishes. We didn't say anything though because some of them were edible and figured we'd just mention it to our server at the end of the meal. In addition, both our dishes were lacking in meat. The rest of the ingredients were tasty and great, but a lack of meat also contributes to what should be a 3 star rating in my opinion. On the flip side, everything else was great. Our server was very helpful for me when it came to gluten free options and I love that they had gluten free bread...that was actually good! We had heard they have fantastic coffee and we would definitely agree with that. We loved sitting on the outside patio that was quiet, cool, and not too crowded on a Wednesday morning at 8:30ish am. I leaned towards four stars instead of three because we would give it a second chance. I really hope we don't see burnt food again and that they increase the amount of meat, as just a few pieces of chicken sausage in a breakfast skillet isn't acceptable. Our breakfasts we ordered were the lemon ricotta pancakes, french toast and Bisquits and gravy. My granddaughter and the kids pancakes. Everything was so delicious and filling. It was certainly tasty and had nice meat on it although I wish it was firmer and a piece I had on my second bloody Mary wouldn't have even passed on the plate version as it was 90% all fat and very wimpy. Bloody Mary - I must say this was good. Ended up ordering a second one although I just wish it had more on the stick. Chicken pesto hash - Good but nothing amazing. Superseded protein pancakes - YES! They absolutely nailed it. The caramel drizzle was the factor that really made this stand out for me. And the presentation was 100% top notch as well! Their salads look underwhelming. Then First Watch comes along. Not a "mom and pop" local eatery, but a large casual dining chain operation with a focus on "fresh from scratch" homemade cooking. While they don't make everything in-house, the products they source from outside suppliers or "partners" are also made from all natural ingredients. The decor gives you the vibe of an upscale modern farmhouse, very much in style. There's also a large shaded seating area for outdoor eating. Strip malls are ideal locations for casual dining, and this spot, located on the 41 and Center Rd. boasts plenty of free parking. Quickly seated, we were offered a cup of coffee. In fact, when you order coffee you don't just get a cup, your table gets its own large pot of freshly roasted coffee. For my meal I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and a multi grain pancake. The food was fresh, hot, and had good flavor. It met my expectations. One criticism, and to be fair In this review, the pancake was supposed to be multi-grain and it tasted like a buttermilk pancake. I enjoyed this pancake as it was served, but it didn't' taste like a multigrain pancake. First Watch should be considered the gold standard for any NYC or LA foodie that happens to be in the area. The options for quality food / dining experience in Venice are extremely limited (practically non-existent) in the area. But as a recent transplant from LA, I found First Watch to delight my family and I while meeting my ridiculously high standards. I've been here twice for breakfast. The menu is very diverse and has a wide selection of items that mix traditional breakfast with healthy, clean eating. Service was exceptional and the ambiance is delightful. It's moving, there is energy here, and the food is amazing. As an added bonus, the prices here are very inexpensive, when compared to equally comparable food in the big cities. read more

Worst breakfast I've had in a long time. First, we sat for quite a while and ultimately had to go find someone to wait on us. The food finally came, at least one person's did, then finally our breakfast came a while later. The eggs benedict was cold when we got it. It was also supposed to have avocado on it and didn't. Clearly someone wasn't doing their job. And don't order decaf coffee as it was the worst coffee ever. Even the people with me tried it and said it was fowl tasting. I ordered takeout and had a great experience. I got the market hash which was absolutely delicious! Portions were a bit small for the price but the food did taste really fresh and the flavors were great. I also ordered a bag of granola which smells like heaven but I'm extremely disappointed to see the "bioengineered" label on the bag. I'm assuming it's the soybean oil. In this day and age, it's really easy to sub other oils and ingredients so it seems lazy to still be using GMO soybean oil considering the only benefit is how cheap it is. I'm a molecular biologist, I avoid genetically engineered food like the plague. It's not the individual restaurant's fault so I'm not docking any stars for it. Just a heads up to the company. We come to this location because they have a nice outdoor covered patio and the dog is treated well by the servers. We had breakfast here 10/4/23, the cost was $36 for two of us, and it was just okay. Service from Nicholas was excellent and he brought a dish of water for our dog, without us asking. He did a great job taking our order and getting it to the table quickly. We had the Floridian French Toast, the Elevated Egg Sandwich and one side; a pancake. The food prices, in my opinion, are simply too high for the food that you get, when compared to a few other area breakfast spots we really like. (The single pancake was $6.70 and black coffee is $3.79). This establishment will only be a once a year stop over for us. It is not currently in our budget. read more

Went to First Watch this morning with a new friend and sat outside on such a beautiful day! I ordered the carrot cake pecan pancake at my friend's recommendation. We ate and talked, so I wasn't terribly in tune with what I was putting in my mouth. I took over half of it home with me. When I went to eat it, I realized why I hadn't eaten more at the restaurant. The entire bottom of the pancake was burnt, and the extra helping of butter did nothing to remedy the dryness of the pancake. I felt like they may have been trying to resurrect a pancake made much earlier. Great ingredients, but sorely lacking in the cooking. I may try this again to see if it was a fluke - after all, we all have a bad day once in a while. read more

I write this review to get the attention of management . We have been eating there for a long time . The food is good , it deserves its current 4. Star rating for that . . This last time we came in and sat there for 20 minutes . There were 2 women waiting on customers . Not looked at us a couple of times but after 20 minutes of not being acknowledged we left . On the way out I asked the lady why we were ignored . She gave me a blank look and told me there were only two of them . I told her that everyone else was helped . The answer was that we sat ourselves . There was no sign that said to wait to be seated and there was no one at the front when we came in . It would have been easy to ask us to sit elsewhere or to just help us . I think the two women working were understaffed and management had not provided them education as to how to handle certain situations . Hopefully someone will read this and address the issue . read more

What I found amazing was when I asked for a sample of their pot roast, it was served to me in a small container like the ones you put your catsup in at McDonald's, no more than 1"x1" in size and they billed me $5.00 for it.
