Still a very good breakfast With time and an appetite, I decided to drive down to Venice for breakfast at the Shamrock Café. This neighborhood café has been serving up food for over a decade. While I think of it as a local breakfast spot, it is much more than that, with dinners including two French Nights, Friday Fish Day, and Saturday's Prime Rib Night. The menu for French Night varies but always includes Chicken Normandie and Beef Bourguignon. My breakfast today was Corn Beef Hash & 2 Eggs, basically the same meal I had in my last review years ago. This time I wasn't quite as impressed with the corned beef but still fine. The serving size was again small. Now that I realize there is a French influence it kind of fits. Came in this morning for breakfast and after ordering, we waited 25 minutes and watched while everyone around us was served... not really that busy ...we ordered scrambled eggs and an egg sandwich not difficult to make... walked up to the counter and told our waitress that I wanted to pay just for our coffee that we were not waiting any longer. She told me to just leave... I don't think I'll ever return there! read more

We haven't been to Shamrock in 10 years. We decided to go tonight for their Friday night seafood specials. My wife and I both had the fish and chips special. $14.00. OUTSTANDING. The fish was very lightly coated and fried to perfection. Very moist and tender. The fries were crisp and well seasoned. We both had the clam chowder. Very tasty. The one disappointment was that the chowder had very little clams in it. We will be back!! read more

How did I miss reviewing this place. It's practically walking distance from my folks place. It is a local French diner. There are several French items on the menu but it's mostly basic comfort food. The service is quick and always asking if they can get you something. It's always busy with seniors from the area, so they are used to serving us slower folks. Breakfast today was bacon and eggs. Just fine. Folks got French toast and waffles. They ate everything, so I'm giving five stars. Definitely a place to get a bite, but not a 'white tablecloth' spot. Not cheap but not expensive either. It's one of my folks lunch rotation places. It seems a little like Cheers, with the staff greeting a lot of customers by name. read more

Old fashion cafe with good food and down to earth wait staff that treat you like family. Off the beaten path a bit but you will enjoy.

We looked at their website and their hours are listed as open until 8 Pm. We arrived at about 2. The open sign was lit. We approached the door and a lady stepped out and told us they are closed from 1:30 to 4. When I mentioned the website I was told I should have looked at Facebook. If they are not going to keep the website accurate they should turn it off. The last place I'll look is Facebook. No problem won't need their information ion again read more

Wednesday evening is French menu. Oh La, La! Tres magnifique! There were four of us and we all loved our meals. The escargot is scrumptious and not overly garlicky. Two of us had the bronzino fish filets. Perfectly grilled, served with a lucious lemony sauce. The veal chop was huge and the dijonaise sauce was a perfect complement. My wife and I stopped in on 2/16/22 for dinner on "French Night". I have to say that it was a fabulous experience. Both the food and the service were outstanding. I had the breaded veal cutlets with marinated artichoke hearts and a baked potato and my wife had the shrimp and scallops with haddock in lobster sauce with mashed and the same artichoke hearts I had. You may think that Shamrock Cafe is an Irish Cafe due to its name but the owners are French. They offer a wide variety of food, including French menu on Wednesday and Thursday. We had a wonderful dinner last night two of us had the trout with almonds, one liver and onions and one meatloaf. Everything was delicious. Been going to the Shamrock Cafe for a year now. I would say it will be my last time due to the rude service I received. I went in for the Sat Prime Rib special and it was packed. I was with a party of four and it took about 5 minutes before we sat down. Ordered my usual and our food came out within 20 minutes after ordering. The prime rib I received was cold and I requested the waitress to get me a new one. In addition, I asked where were the rolls for our dinner. She said they ran out and they will be making more. 10 minutes go by I get my prime rib back but it was microwaved. Kind of obvious the plate was hot too. It wasn't that great by then because it became rubber. I requested for a side of horseradish and it took another 10 minutes before it arrived. Waitress seemed pissy with me and we requested refills for our sweet tea. No refills and we got the check. She comes back with 2 rolls and picks up the bill with my credit card. She finally arrived with the rolls, not four, but two rolls after our meal. Are we supposed to split these 4"x4" rolls as a dessert amongst ourselves? Don't forget we never got any refills either because she forgot. Still tipped the 20% but to the owner/ management check on your waitress's customer service because you just lost an all year around Venice resident. read more

We arrived at the cafe at 5:30 and we sat down immediately. It took our server 15 minutes to take our order. She also took the order of the couple sitting in the booth next to us. I asked for bread and was told the restaurant had no bread, yet the menu includes sandwiches and other dishes that require bread. She agreed to bring me some marble rye. The couple in the next booth received their meal within 15 minutes, yet it took over 45 minutes for our meal to come out of the kitchen. We watched other customers come in be seated, order and receive their meals while we watched and waited. Bottom line the food is good, yet the service is very poor. I do not fault the kitchen, but I do fault the server for not placing the order, since I challenged the no bread issue. read more
