I desperately needed a haircut before the holidays and there was an availability at BS. I showed Daisy a picture of the style/cut I wanted and it looked nothing like the photo. I have never gotten layers where only a small section in the back of my head was a good inch or so shorter than the rest of my head. My family members had continually pointed out this section over Christmas, and I went back to BS as soon as I got home to try to get it fixed. There really was nothing that could be done because the section was so short, except "blend it in". Daisy was not able to do this and had to consult with a more-experienced hairstylist. I am pretty upset with the amount I paid for this haircut. I expected more from a "elite Level 5" stylist. I appreciated the manager and other stylist that helped salvage my haircut, but I wish I had gotten some of my money back instead. I do not think I will be returning to BS. read more

I went in today for a cut and style. Everyone was VERY nice. The Salon Is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the wait wasn't too bad.. the hair cut was nothing like I asked for. I showed my stylist a picture of exactly what I wanted, what I received was a standard mom bob. I mentioned it need more layers, or something, and I felt like I was placated into smiling and saying "okay maybe I just wanted it shorter". As soon as I got in my car I started crying. Chad was a miracle worker! I tried to do my own hair after watching Brad Mondo videos during Covid that's the picture on the left, me before I went to the salon today. The picture on the right is me after I left the salon today. Chad was very professional and amazing at his job. He had his work cut out for him but never once made me feel uncomfortable about how bad my hair looked. Going to a new colorist it's really scary but Chad definitely nailed it. Five stars is what I gave but I would give 10 stars if I could. It is a little bit expensive with his level of experience but totally worth every dollar... I think the picture speaks for itself. I had taken an appointment with Hope for 515 pm and when I got there they said that my appointment was set for 445.. that afternoon I called the customer service number many times to make sure they have my appointment correctly and no one answered. That's one drawback about this place that they don't have direct # that you can reach the salon at which is inconvenient given that the customer service line is not accessible easily. That apart another lady Daisy was available and she was was ready to take me. I went for it and boy did she give me a great hair cut and blow out ! This was my first time at this place and she did a very good job and listened to my request and did exactly what I wanted. The ambience is pretty nice too and quite conveniently located. Somethings just never seem to change. Yesterday I went to Bob Steele in Alpharetta- I asked my stylist, Brittany if she could please lighten up my hair as I felt it was too dark. She put in about 10 foils in my hair and added a base color - basically I walked out with my hair even darker than what it was before. You couldn't even see where she added the "highlights",I called back and told Bob Steele that I wasn't happy. They said that they would like to do a redo, without charging! Well, I went back today and was charged. My botched hairdo came to almost $200! They did not keep their promise and neither did they honor what they said they were going to do! I'm giving 1 star, one for location. At least now I know what Bob Steele is really all about! They are not about looking after their clients as I've now learned the hard way! read more

So...I had my roots grown out (dirty blonde) with bleached ends and an orange tint. It was awful until I found Mae Ling. I booked last minute online and was kinda nervous because I didn't know what to expect. She was kind, friendly and really impressed me with her skills and shes a level 2! Never again... Being new to the area, I went to the Bob Steele Alpharetta location for the first time a few weeks ago. I asked for a trim of my current style. My hair looked fine when I left the salon, but when I washed and dried it the next morning, I noticed that it was very uneven. The right side was about a half inch shorter than the other. I have very straight hair, so it was VERY noticeable! I immediately called the salon, and they fit me in that day to have it fixed. I returned and saw a different stylist. She evened out the longer side, but when she was finished, she said "Oh, I added in some layers for you." WHY??? I never asked for layers. I asked for an even haircut. I do not know how she got layers from that. I am pretty blind without my glasses, so I could not see in detail what she was doing while she was cutting, but when I put my glasses back on, I could not believe how short and shaggy my hair looked! Even worse, it was slightly longer in the back, somewhat resembling a mullet. WTF??? Now my "fixed" haircut is worse than the uneven original. Not wanting to lose any more length, and afraid of what would happen should I ask them to "fix" it again, I left. Now I am stuck with weeks of bad hair days while this mess grows out enough to get it fixed at a different salon. Absolutely horrible- stay away!!! read more

Yup, Bob Steele knocked it out of the park again. This time I went to see Rebekah, as my usual stylist Madelin was booked solid for a month, and my split ends simply couldn't take the wait. For only $36, Rebekah not only gave me a killer scalp massage, but listened carefully to what I was looking for and examined the inspiration pictures I brought, helping me describe the cut I was looking for (the bangs from this one, the part from that one, the long layers from this one, but not the short face layers like that one). And then, she delivered. Not only does my cut look great, she also took the time to give me a really great blow out, possibly the best I've ever had. And even better, it lasted for two days! This is an Aveda Salon that provides an upscale salon experience. The salon was referred to me by the previous owner of the house I purchased and I have been going ever since, a total of 11 months now. The service is top-notch, very professional, and the talent is out of this world. I never fail to get multiple compliments about my hair!! The salon has massaging chairs when you are at the hair washing stations, so the time is actually enjoyable when you are sitting there waiting on your color to process. This place was recommended to me through a friend so we both checked it out. It's always a good to come in and talk to the person who's going to do your hair before committing into doing it. They use Aveda products, very similar to Van Michaels but not so much upscale. All the stylist had really cute cuts. The best thing about this place is their $5 per foil hilites, which is very reasonable and it only took me 8 foil. Asian hair is the most difficult to work with when it comes to color. Our hair do not absorb the color we see on the palette. I was very skeptical, went for the blonde hilites but ended up getting cold feet in the end. So I went for a honey on soft black. She had to retouch my bangs because the honey was turning dark brown instead of a slight golden tint to it - almost blonde but not quite. It was finally the color I wanted after the retouch. I'm good with the service, the girl was very sweet, maybe too sweet. her name is Madeline. I love my affordable hilites and am definitely coming back - ready to do the blonde on black! read more

Salon hopper strikes again! I have been going to Van Michaels pretty consistently but then my stylist who was "new talent" now is a regular stylist- which means he upped his prices. Goodbye Van Michaels- Hello Bob Steele! I chose this location because it's close to my work and I could hop on over there after I leave the office. There are a few great things about this location: 1) they use aveda products and 2) their shampoo chairs are massage chairs. But then there were a few things I didn't like either. My stylist was a little awkward in conversation and seemed confused about why I wanted to keep my hair looong. The salon itself isnt the most upscale and the waiting area is horrible. I did walk out of there with a haircut that I was pleased with, but then again I just have plain long layerd hair. I will give this salon another try to wow me. read more

I was nervous about going somewhere new when I got back from college, but I found where I will go as long as I live around here! First, I could book my appointment online. This is great because I don't like making personal phone calls at work. They had plenty of opening for the day of and they're open until 8:30 which is great for people with full time jobs. I booked my appointment for 6:15 with Jaysie for a baylage. I arrived at 5:45 right from work and was in a chair by 5:55. SHE DID AMAZING WORK! I showed her a picture I had picked out and she nailed it. My roots grow out very fast so I just wanted a subtle lightening that looked natural. There are no streaks of bleach blonde or the sometimes straight across looks that you see. She was fast and sweet and VERY AFFORDABLE and I'm so happy with her work. Will be going back again. I love my stylist there BUT your salon is filthy. Early morning appointments should see a clean salon. They do not. You need someone to thoroughly sweep and wipe down surfaces each day. If a client comes in and there is hair on the wall, yes the wall, from the day before that is an issue. Your dividers should be cleaned and sanitized. I noticed the lack of cleanliness before COVID and it is still happening. While you are a salon, you should not have piles of hair all over the floors and in the cracks and crevices upon opening. No client in the chair and hair was everywhere. YUCK! Your stylists need to wipe down shampoo bowls and seats. Color should be wiped down from the bowls as well. Your hair dryers need updating or provide foot stools. Your costs are high and I pay them, BUT the salon needs to be cleaner! Get to cleaning! read more

I wouldn't touch this place again with a ten-foot pole. The first time I decided to try this salon, I went in with a picture of what I wanted. I do understand that there's not really any way to perfectly duplicate another person's hair, but having a picture of what you'd like helps to get the general idea across. As my haircut kept progressing, I started worrying more and more, because the cut I was getting had zero resemblance to what I'd asked for. I kept hearing "don't worry, I've got it", until the hairdresser was done... and it turned out that I was right to have worried. It looked NOTHING like what I'd wanted. I'd wanted short-ish and a little bit spiky, and I got a cross between a shoulder-length bob and a bouffant. We talked about it, and she finally admitted that what I wanted wasn't "in style", so she decided against my wishes to give me something that, to her, was. I left very upset, and ended up going to the Great Clips down the road to see if they could fix it. (That Great Clips, on Windward, is pretty good as long as you get the right person.) They fixed it in no time, and the haircut I got matched the picture really well. I was impressed. I said I'd never go back, but I got a very good offer in the mail, and my friends convinced me I'd gotten the one rotten apple in the bunch. I needed my hair done for a Christmas party, so I gave them a second chance. Once again, the stylist didn't listen to a single thing I said. I kept getting "it's okay, I'm getting there" when I asked what he was doing. I wanted my hair up (I still had enough length to do that), and he flat-ironed it down. It looked terrible on me. When I asked him to please fix it, he got out a curling iron, lazily spent two seconds on a strand, and said "Sorry. I can't do anything with this, now that it's flat-ironed." I went to leave, and then stood in line for a good ten, fifteen minutes while the receptionist caught up with the person in front's life. They chatted away, and I tried to quietly break in so that I could pay and go. I was ignored, completely. I went back to that Great Clips in tears, told them what had happened, and the stylist there said "That's BS. I'll have you done in ten minutes," And she did. She also told me that getting clients in after Bob Steele screwed up their hair was a very common thing for them. So there you go, This salon is so poor in ability and service that a Great Clips can do far better work for FAR less money. And to put the cherry on this, calling to get a manager to speak with ends up with you on hold until you decide to hang up ten minutes later - and they have an email address, but your email will be totally ignored. I'll be sticking with that Great Clips, thanks. read more

I went to Bon Steele on the recommendation of a friend. I wanted a cute, blunt bob. I went to a level three and well-I got what I paid for. She was distracted and didn't seem invested at all. My hair was completely uneven, and she didn't do the color I wanted. Ect. I went to the highest level for a double process. She was late and on top of that told me she didn't have time for coloring. Really? We then started talking about my hair. After all that She kind of just did some really generic bob with a color I hated. I scheduled an appointment but I'm never going back. I miss my long thick hair. I wasted my haircut on this salon. And I regret smiling and saying I loved in when I walked out because I burst into tears the moment I got in the car. Please beware of Level 1 stylists. As a new client, I was encouraged to try a Level 1 stylist by the gentleman that answered the phone. He explained that the stylists had extensive training, skill and experience and that the only difference was the price. I was reluctant, but I agreed to book the appointment for a haircut and single process color. Huge mistake! Rose was my stylist and although friendly and seemingly confident was anything but experienced. Halfway through my cut she admitted that her training was only shadowing another stylist for 18 months! She styled my hair and used all types of products to mask the shoddy cut job. The color was fine but my hair is grossly uneven and asymmetrical. This is going to take me months to grow out before I can even correct it. If you care at all about your appearance, please do not use this stylist. I am writing this review so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I can't speak for the skills of the higher level stylists but I urge you not to begin at the Level 1. read more
