A definite throwback and a really good one. We stopped in on a recent Sunday session (1-4 pm)…read more Entrance fee is $10 per person and comes with free skate rentals. Cash only with an ATM on site. The wooden rink floor is quite large and well taken care for. A bevy of games interspersed throughout the day make it fun for all. Solid sound and lighting system. Standard rink food for those that need a bite to eat. A lot of birthday parties being hosted so expect a lot of smaller skaters on the floor. They do have a dress code (no short shorts, tank tops, exposed midriffs, etc so keep that in mind as you suit up for your rollerskating adventure.

I've loved this place for years. I've had both my kids' birthdays there, and that went great…read more Recently though, my daughter enjoys going skating just for fun (and it's great exercise!!) I wasn't aware of the dress code though. I wore a sleeveless shirt because I knew I was going to get hot. They offered a free tshirt to wear to cover up my shoulders. Wore it for most of the time but it just got too darn hot. They stopped me and told me to put on a shirt or leave. Threatened to call the sheriff's office to force me to leave, but there was really no need because I was too offended at the apparent accusation of dressing like a ho. I was not dressed provocatively... just no sleeves. I left early, with all 4 kids I brought and I'm not coming back until the dress code loosens up a little. It says IN GOD WE TRUST on their sign in front. Based, and I'm Christan too. Jesus told me that showing my shoulders is not inappropriate in a family-friendly setting. They lost my business.

Just because it's sparkling new(ish), doesn't mean it's great. My experience as a non-student…read moremember was pretty underwhelming. 1. The building opens at 6:00 a.m. While it's not packed at that hour, it's way busier than anything on a college campus should be at that time. What college student is up at that time, let alone 100 or so? Their poor roommates. 2. Someone made the wonky decision to put all computerized spin bikes instead of the traditional keiser bikes as the only upright bike (except for the one other upright --one in the whole gym). This was fine at first, until the screens all malfunctioned and the bikes were unable to be used (unless you wanted to pedal without resistance). I emailed rec well about it, but never received a reply. Months later, the problem had not been addressed. 3. The music sucks, and is played louder than at other gyms. I had to turn my own music up higher than what is comfortable for me in order to cover up their weird soundtrack. 4. Swimming is not possible. I tried once. Apparently 100 other people had the same idea. 5. Even though no gyms are open during part of winter break, they charge you for the whole month. They also are closed for an entire week during spring break, and other random times. If you are serious about your fitness routine, you need to find a way to use other gyms during these times. I had to spend money on a 15 visit pass for another gym in Madison. 6. It's difficult to not get angry while you are there working out, looking over all the wasted space. The way it was built, with huge open space in the center of each floor, you wonder how much more equipment they could have put there, had they just made the floor solid. The nail in the coffin is when I went to cancel (filled out a form online), someone who works there wrote a nasty email back to me. The form I filled out required that you put the reason why you were quitting the gym. I put my honest feedback, and then got harassed by an employee (Ryan), when I never asked to be contacted (there was a box to check if you wanted contact; I did not check this box). Furthermore, he LIED to me in his email. I'm still debating forwarding the email to his boss's boss. The only positive thing I can say is that the temperature is comfortable.

The rink is managed by the rec center on campus and does not manage the ice very well. The put too…read moremuch water down during the resurface which causes the games to be sloppy and delayed. Too much water is a problem. We have had multiple issues with decisions by rec center staff. Once had a guy showing in the ref room while we are getting dressed. Comes walking out of the shower and we are like what the heck are you doing in here? Bizzare. However, the referee room is awesome. A smaller changing area but 2 bathrooms and showers. We never see this type of set up.
