Terrible staff. Acted bothered, agitated and annoyed when my child had a question. Made me want to cringe and jump out of my skin. I think the guy was more of ginger/strawberry blonde. Just ridiculous behavior from an adult. Please train your staff on common social etiquette. read more

They mostly sell used equipment but they do also stock some new stuff. Just like a thrift store, you're at the mercy of what people are selling. It took me 2 or 3 full winters but I lucked out and came across a pair of skate skis that were the right size and reasonably priced. If you want to try out a new activity but don't want to pay full price for equipment, start checking inventory a few months before the season starts for the best chance at a good selection. Selection tends to be pretty good early on for the popular sports. read more

I called in search of an used 11.5" baseball glove for my son who is a lefty. Not only did they have one, but the store manager AJ offered to hold it till the end of the evening and he texted me a photo of the glove. Excellent service. I'll admit, I SHOP here more than I SPEND here. It sounds odd, but it's true. I like the fact that they exist - it gives me a chance to find decent equipment for decent prices. Years ago, we bought my older son's first snowboard and boots here and got a great deal. More often, I will hunt things down on Craigslist, but PIAS is an option I always consider. If nothing else, it's a nice place to compare my other purchases too and validate what a good deal I got. With kids involved in skiing, snowboarding, karate (sparring gear here), longboarding, golf, and well, the list goes on - it's nice to have a place to check for deals. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Not long ago, while window-shopping snowboards, they had some "50% off" stickers on boards. I asked and he said they were from a previous sale, but he'd honor it. Honestly, I think some boards are STILL labeled with those stickers... I like that they were willing to work with me. Last time there, a woman brought in some ice skates to be sharpened. The guy looked at them and said that they really didn't need it and, if he DID take them back to sharpen them, he wouldn't charge her. That was refreshing to see. When the east side store closed, all their inventory came to the west store, so their selection is really good right now. read more

Great place to buy. Terrible place to sell. I took my Retrospec fixed gear bike in that costs over $300. There was a tear in the seat but other than that the bike is in perfect condition. They had to hold onto the bike for 10 days for what reason I don't know. It wasn't explained . After waiting the full 10 days they offered me $25 for a bike that has been continuously selling out. You are better off listing your possessions on Craigslist than taking it to this location and settling for their terribly low offers. read more

Well I really like the concept of this "recycle store" and it has saved me a lot of money. I look for good used cross-country ski equipment to fill up unused corners of my basement and help others starting to ski or with broken equipment. I now own enough skis and boots ( all antique ) to start my own store, if I had the time. The staff has been helpful by asking what I need and leaving me alone to make decisions. One occasion when I was looking for some antique equipment they even took me to their inner sanctum and let me sort through the out-of-date equipment. I snagged a free pair of three-pin bindings that were tops in their day. Thank you. Worst service ever. We were invisible to the staff in a store with no customers. My son and I were shopping for a simple weight bench, bar and weights. The selection was not great and the prices were not good enough to deal with the BS of their terrible service. read more

My wife and I were looking for twin-tip downhill skis for our 15 year old son the day before Christmas, so we decided to check out a pair she had seen at Play-It-Again a couple days prior. We walked in the store and a young guy and young lady were behind the counter. All the guy said was "We're closing!" and I didn't hear him quite right at first so I said "Oh, sorry, you're closed?" and he said "Well, it's 1:42 pm and we're closing at 2:00" My wife took me right to the pair of skis and I looked at them briefly for about 30 seconds and figured they looked decent enough so I took them to the front desk. They were asking about $285 or so, but I asked if he would be willing to sell for $250. I hadn't iniitally noticed, but he pointed out that one of the prior owners had tried to reattach one of the bindings by putting in two screws from the bottom of the ski. That made me slightly concerned about their durability and I wasn't so sure, so I asked what the return policy was. He looked irritated and said that we'd only get store credit. I said "okay" and that I understand. At that time, it wasn't even 10 minutes to 2 and I was still looking them over because I also noticed a piece of the binding was coming off. Suddenly he just said in a very rude tone "I got about 5 minutes buddy....you need to make up your mind!" Naturally, I was shocked and initially thought that I misheard this rude comment, so I said "Excuse me, what?" He repeated, "You need to make up your mind buddy." In my life I have NEVER been treated this way and immediately tipped the skis against the front counter and told him "Forget it, I don't appreciate that kind of treatment and don't need your attitude." and my wife and I walked out the store. Just before I walked out the front door, he sarcastically said "Merry Christmas".....obviously a joke. I walked to my car, got in, and looked at the clock and it was exactly 1:50 pm. Only 8 minutes had passed since we got in there. Suffice it to say, I'll never return to this store again and will share my story with as many people as possible, unless the manager of this store can explain how an employee like that could be on the payroll. The young lady had been very nice and was not rude in the least. This guy was obviously annoyed that we, as the last customers before Christmas, were likely ruining his plans to cut out a few minutes early. As a manager myself, I'd drop this guy in a heartbeat. Hadn't been there since the new owners took over a couple years agao and was very impressed this November when I bought both my kids new ski boots and my eldest son a new ski helmet. I was amazed at the variety of sports equipment they had - kayaks, long boards, jogging strollers, soccer cleats, baseball bags, mitts, bats, etc. in addition to what I expected - skis and ice skates. The guys working there are so customer focused and friendly too. I went back in December to get set up with a XC ski package and Charles was a great help, as I'm new to the sport. Went back again last week for skis for my oldest son. Always impressed and so glad to have this store in our community. read more

Just stopped in today(3/19/17). I was going to purchase socks for our entire tournament baseball team. They only had 4 pair that I needed out on display (I need 11 pair). I asked the kid working there if they might have more in the back as I needed 11. He stated that if it's on the rack, then that is all they have. Conversation ended there. No.. we don't have more in stock, but I could order them for you, or we will have more coming in at some point. I was going to ask but decided the owner of this place must not really care about the business as he has zero clue how to train his employees about customer service. Unfortunately I will be taking my business elsewhere. I really like to purchase local whenever I can, but when the experience is worse than just ordering online.. guess who gets the business. I bought a pair of soccer shoes there for my son. Both of them fell apart after wearing them a total of 4 times. I thought for sure they'd let me exchange them or at least get store credit since they clearly sold something defective. NOPE! The manager said they couldn't do anything and what did I expect anyways from a used pair of shoes. I was willing to just take store credit or do a straight exchange and he told me all I could do was buy another pair. Like I wanted to burn through more money there! I told him I came in because I thought they'd care about the faulty equipment, and he got all huffy and defensive. Then he and his store associate treated me like I was an irate customer and being ridiculous when all I said was that I thought they'd stand behind the stuff they sold. Never again will I waste money there and I recommend people find other places to shop as they do not care if what they sell you is junk. read more
