5.0 Stars I can't recommend Bob Workman's enough. I brought in my 2006 Mini Cooper after a battery swap left me with a dreaded P1656 "EWS Wrong Code" (immobilizer sync issue) that had the car completely immobilized. Joey and Jordan were absolute pros. They knew exactly how to handle the DME-EWS resync and got the computer communication sorted quickly. While it was there, they also handled a CV axle replacement and a much-needed transmission fluid drain and fill. The car is now running like butter. It's hard to find a shop in Vista that is this knowledgeable with Mini electrical quirks and honest with their mechanical work. This place is the absolute bomb! To start off , I came into this shop in need of a diagnostic on a power steering issue , met the owner (Bob) and instantly knew I was in good hands. My car was immediately on the rack and within 15 mins I had the diagnosis. I went to pay , only to find out it was free. It was a real relief since most shops charge atleast $85. I had no need to order my new power steering pump , these guys could get it for much cheaper (even online) and more conveniently - win/win. Next day it was installed at a very reasonable rate , especially for how detailed their technicians are. I walked out of that building knowing that they were definitely my go-to shop. It's been four months since then and they've done everything from A/C belts , cams , rod bearings , clutch , to welding for me! I trust them 100% and they've even taught me quite a couple of things in the process. Here's a little about the guys I've met at the shop - Bob is a great , kind hearted gentleman who is willing to help just about anyone under the sun and extremely proactive . This man is extremely knowledgeable and reliable source for any information , not just on Euro cars , but other domestics and imports as well. Very easy to talk to as well. His son Joey has been very helpful as well , and very proficient. He's extremely detail oriented and will absolutely not overlook anything he puts his mind to. Whether it's advice , or hands on - this dude is a serious go-to for any of my vehicle needs - performance , maintenance , specs or finding the right part for a great price , this is your dude. Tristan , another technician in the shop is equal in value , great dude with tons of knowledge - especially on transmissions. This dude can freaking build! If you have the pleasure to walkthrough the shop; ask to see his drag car - its pretty dope. All in all, I've never had a bad time at this shop - and I own an E36 so that's saying something . These guys are practically like family and I just met them! Single best shop I've been to - easily! I'd recommend these guys to just about anyone , especially military. Seriously. Sometimes you can be unlucky and lucky at the same time. On Christmas Eve morning after a 10 drive from Northern California to Vista my car went completely berserk. Horn wouldn't stop honking, lights flashing, remote wouldn't unlock the car etc etc. With the car honking driving the whole neighborhood crazy, just googled the nearest mechanic they could handle Volvos and found Bob Workman a mile away. Pretty quickly he told me the bad news: that an improperly installed windshield caused a leak that caused a complete electrical system failure. As I awaited a house full of 20 people for Christmas Eve dinner I got the news that I may be facing a $1500 repair. I was fairly devastated but only a few hours later Bob called to say that he was able to clean the corrosion, replace fuses, etc. and revive the soaked information board. If he had told me I needed to do the $1500 repair I might've done it. Because I had to to get home. But he went to work to save me from that and indeed he did. He even took pictures so that I would have everything I needed to reclaim my expenses from the company that had replaced my windshield. Like I said I was very unlucky but as it turns out I was so lucky to have brought my misfortune to Bob. If I didn't live 500 miles away I would drop my mechanic like a hot potato and go exclusively to Bob. Don't even think about it, take your car to Bob, you won't be sorry. read more

Over this past Holiday weekend my 04' BMW 330CI wouldn't start. AAA was called, not the battery. Spent all day Sunday trying to figure out where to go. Was completely surprised when the owner himself responded within 15 minutes. Got my car towed to the location and never felt better about my decision. I've gone a few times and I will be back. Update! I was told I should have my timing belt replaced soon... maybe on my next oil change. So anyway, as a result of work from home, the Bimmer and the spare car have done about 4,000 miles between them this year. Obviously, no miles means no repairs needed. Great honest shop, friendly and reliable and always always concerned about the cost to you. I had two BMW's over the past 6 years, both used, and they worked on both doing as needed repair and oil changes and other maintenance service. They always offer up the factory part or other, and tell you if they know in each case, how important the choice is, ie, what they would do. They go the extra distance happily, even giving you a ride if you need it, and today, referring me to a new service provider because I purchased a Toyota and they specialize in BMW/Volvo. I had to sell my BMW and bought a used Prius, and they made some calls to find out which repair shops they knew that worked on Prius cars, and could do warranty work. They know they won't get business from me in the future by doing this, but volunteered to help me out anyways. Serious good people - husband/wife team -Cindy runs the front office, Bob leads the team in back. I really felt like I was going to a place where everyone knows your name (ala Cheers), after a few visits. They get to know you and your car, and understand the need to communicate and to be cost-conscious. It's not fancy like the dealership, but they won't try to sell you service you don't need. BMW dealerships service reps are commission based, so you never know what you're being sold, and you always pay top dollar. Go to Bob's. You'll be able to afford your BMW again. read more

I want to thank Bob for being the most honest mechanic Ive come across in years!! I have a Mercedes Benz SL55 that was leaking hydraulic fluid that the dealer caused but told me it was a defective power steering unit whiched caused instability with my ABC system and that it would cost me $3300.00. I went to Bob for a second look and he informed me that it was a loose valve in the hydraulic line that the service department at Mercedes Benz caused! Bob fixed it valve and cleaned the undercarriage test drove it with no issues with the leak. My car is handling great now! Bob only charged $200.00!!! Saved me a fortune. Joey told me how to diagnose the problem so I could fix it myself, but I took it to him to confirm my results. I was right, but it was good to have them confirm it. I bought a 1989 Volvo 740 GL last year and since then I have spent more than $ 2000 in parts and labor at Bob Workman's European Auto in Vista, California, I made the conscious decision to buy a safe and dependable European car and was also aware of the cost of replacing expensive European auto parts. Bob took good care of my Volvo and made all the necessary repairs. The Volvo 740 GL is so dependable and solid that I made it to Las Vegas and back to San Diego in one piece despite a clogged up fuel filter and a messed up fuel pump. I took my car back to Bob Workman and he replaced the aging fuel pump with a new one and now my Volvo is running faster and smoother ever than before I made another long drive to Vegas without any problem. I was referred to this shop by Joey and Anna Workman. I trust them both and I am glad that I took my Mercedes here. Tristan was the one who took my call when I needed to make an appointment and he was super helpful. When my husband and I dropped my car off we were greeted by Mr Bob Workman, who was very friendly and personable. I didn't want to take my car to the dealership because they quoted me a ridiculous price and I didn't want to get ripped off. This shop took care of my car and on top of that told me I needed a new set of tires because they noticed it was bald. Thank goodness that they mentioned it to me because I would've hated to be driving it around like that not knowing which is dangerous. Bob was my mechanic for many years and was fine for oil changes and brake work I no longer own my Mini Cooper because when he attempted to do clutch work he ruined my transmission and I had to dump the car I have reported him to the Bureau of Automotive Repair where he has been found liable due to the fact he doesn't follow the law with the work he does When I get my report I will sue him for the 5000 dollars in value I lost in my car He is shady and I WOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM HIM read more
