I've been going to Infinite Motion for several vehicles I've owned since the early 1990s. Not for everything, but bigger stuff, because I know it will be done right for a fair price. Less than a dealer, more than the cheap guys. You get what you pay for. Recently my 2000 Tundra would start shaking badly and stall when slowing, coming to a stop or shifting into drive or reverse. The problem was intermittent. My first stop was a closer shop, a very trusted one. I went there because I didn't want to try and drive it far with the problems. They gave it a quick check, and thought it was a transmission problem. They don't do transmissions so I went to Aamco (because they were very close). Aamco gave it a once over (a free quick check) and thought it was the transmission, but said to know what was wrong they'd need to drop the transmission to check it. That alone would've been over $1200, even if they found nothing wrong. That's not a knock against Aamco, they do transmissions, it's pretty much all they know. I called Rob and he talked to his son Gavin, who has the same truck. Gavin thought it was an "idle" problem. Checking my truck they were sure it was the throttle body, and recommended replacing it. They swapped it out and it fixed the problem. Had some other work done also, ball joints and transmission flush. Rob even texted me to let me know the price for the transmission flush ended up being less because he initially thought it needed more transmission fluid than it actually did. Total honesty. I never would've known if he didn't tell me. If you want top quality work, at fair prices, and an honest shop, you can't do better than Infinite Motion. read more

I purchased a used 2001 Honda S2000 with very low mileage. This car has been garaged most of its life. One of the first things I wanted to do after researching how to take care of a S2000 and known issues with this particular model and year was to get a S2000 expert mechanic to take a look at it. After researching on Yelp, there were many positive reviews for Infinite Motion. They seem to take care of a lot of S2000s and the head mechanic drives one himself and has over 200k miles on it. I stop by to discuss what I needed to get done and the conversation couldn't have gone better. They are very protective of their customers cars and when they get S2000 they always lock it up in their shop. I was in no rush to have the car looked at and tuned, I left my S with them for about a month which included Thanksgiving weekend. I ended up getting my oil changed, transmission fluid changed, torqued spark plugs, valve adjustments, and overall inspection and tune up. They did disclose they didn't feel the transmission fluid needed changing but I wanted to be on the safe side. I also purchased a Billman TCT to replace the OEM TCT which are known to fail. Everything was done to perfection and service level was top notch. I receive frequent updates. It always felt my car was their car and they took exceptional care of their cars. I couldn't have asked for a skilled and trustworthy mechanic and shop owner for this car. Although they are very far from me and its very inconvenient for me to have to drop off the car for this visit and future visits and then arrange a ride home and repeat again to pick the vehicle up, its all worth it. I had forgotten to post a review last month when I had my car serviced. However, with the holidays & life, it never happened until now. It was time to get a 60k mile service done on my car. I called the dealership & was quoted a crazy high amount, so I decided to research other places. After weeks of shopping (& procrastination), I found Infinite Motion. I saw all the positive reviews that I had to call and see for myself. I spoke with the owner, Robert, who was extremely helpful & quoted me a pretty competitive rate. Seriously, I was happy talking to him, and decided to make an appointment later that week. Make a long story short, dropped the car off, left a note asking if they can have it completed by 4pm that afternoon. I received a call later in the day to tell me it'll be ready at 3pm. Awesome! It worked out perfect because I had to get down to La Jolla for a holiday party. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to arrive to a clean, classic retro (feel) front lobby. I was greeted by the sweetest woman, named Barbara. She asked me to wait as she went to the back to get Robert. As I was waiting, I noticed a signed Tony Hawk picture personally thanking Infinite Motion. That was cool! I finally met Robert, he explained what they did and told me he was charging me $100+ less than what he quoted. Awesome!! Not what I expected but it was perfect especially during the holidays. Seriously, I can go on, on & on about this family owned business. They were great! Well 1 month later today, I'm back again because I've been hearing a clucking sound coming from my car. My gut instinct told me to get it looked at immediately. When I called, I spoke to Barbara, and explained my situation. She felt I needed to bring it NOW. I wasn't expecting to bring it that day, but I did, and I'm glad I did. If I would have waited and driven my call longer, my axel would've come off. I don't know what may have happened if I had driven the car to LA the following day. I'm so glad I came and even grateful that they saw me last minute. I think i have finally found a mechanic for my car. After calling dozens of places, getting tons of different diagnoses with quotes of $300-700 my boyfriend suggested I call Infinite since he had a good experience 10 years when he brought his civic in and they had good Yelp reviews. Prior to coming here I was told by Honda of Escondido that my power steering pump was leaking. I called Rob while at the dealership and said he could reseal it for half of what they were charging. After doing tons of research after leaving the dealership, I took my car to Rob the next day. Even though I told him what the dealership told me, he still wanted to check out my car for himself. I'm so glad he did! He found that my pump was fine, but a seal that a hose connects to the pump was leaking. He saved me $500!!! and stayed after hours to complete my car that same day. Rob and his staff were so helpful form the first time calling to the day Ii pickup ed my car. He was very honest and his rates VERY VERY good. Rob and his family have had this place for I think 35 years or something. It is a very honest reliable professional and experienced operation. They know what they're talking about and they definitely take care of you. Be nice to them and become their friends because they will always make time to help you with whatever you need! Infinite Motion is the place to go if you're mechanically challenged. Rob and his wife Barbara as well as their son Gavin will treat you right. I took my s2000 there due to a dreaded check engine light and they managed to fix it without a hitch. Turns out, my fuel pump was missing a piece and they ordered me a new one. I liked their shop so much I took my car back there a few weeks later and got a new street clutch installed. I wont let another shop work on my car and am willing to do the 30min drive each way to take it to them. read more

Lost the keys to my s2000 so needed them replaced. Since Gavin (TurboViper on S2ki) was very reputable, I decided I will tow my car to him to get it made. Got the car towed from mission valley to San Marcos. A couple of days later I was told I needed imoblizer, new ecu and a lot of work to clean up the damaged wiring harness on my car due to the car being salvaged or else the new key was not programmable. I was also told I would be charged hourly until it is fixed. Half way through Gavin gave up on it and I decided to get it towed back and pay for another tow. I get the car back with all my interior apart, my alarm taken off and my steering column sitting on the floor because "he didn't want to charge me any extra hours of work". Called another guy, and he got the key made within half an hour. No issue with the car whatsoever. The wrong part was ordered because of which he couldnt do anything but he blamed it on the salvage title. He decided he will take care of me and give me a free oil change etc etc. So i went back to him, got the oil change done. Just so I am not there getting free stuff and wasting their time, I had my brother's IS300's AC refilled since it needed it. I was told there might be a leak because of which it had been empty in the first place and I should try it out and see if this will work. $120 or so to refill it and lasted 3-4 days. Took it to another shop down in Mission valley, they inspected and found out it was a $5 seal that was bad. replaced it and refilled it. 0 issues after that. Shouldn't you have had it fixed before you filled the car with freon. Is that not a safety/environment hazzard? Thank you, Gavin. I should have actually paid attention to the negative reviews that I had heard from your previous friends and customers but I decided to still use your service since I had nothing complicated. On a side note, the oil change didn't have any issues. So I will recommend you when people need a lube tech. read more

Rob *used* to have all of my trust, deservedly so. Then, a series of events turned costly and created difficulties. After assuring me of the physical status of my minivan that I was having problems with, I went back to Toyota for some unrelated warranty work and denied them thieir wish to fix those two leaks and I accused them trying to make up work to rip me off. I was assured by Infinite Motion that I did not have a coolant leak, nor a power steering leak... Well, the Toyota dealership put the Sienna up on a lift took pictures and proved to me that I had those two leaks that I was assured didn't exist. The leak marks were obvious. In addition, the minivan was taken in many times and we had discussed a major job that needed to be done but twice, the shop did not do the needed work it was in for. Senior moments? Messy paperwork? Yeah, probably. The last time, I took it in for over $800 of work and all they spent their time doing an overpriced oil change. That was over a year and a half ago and I haven't returned. In fact, I don't plan on returning based on that lost trust - Time is valuable too. Hopefully, they've fixed their problems; maybe they've lost a few customers and aren't so busy. read more

I am pretty picky about where I take my cars for repairs when it comes to work that I can't do myself as I've had quite a few negative experiences with shops around San Diego. As such, I have been searching for a trustworthy mechanic for my Honda S2000 CR for sometime now, and I think may have just found the right place to go to. Customer service... need I say more? This place goes above and beyond the standard! Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by a very friendly lady (I wasn't able to get her name), and soon thereafter, was greeted by Gavin. Gavin knew of the reason I was coming in, and had everything set up prior to me getting there. Also, before he took my keys, he explained to me exactly what he was going to do, and the process in which he was going to execute the repairs. As Gavin began work on my car, he allowed me to come into the garage so that I could see first hand what was going on. He explained to me what he was doing and why he was doing it. I came in for a simple repair, but Gavin took the extra time to check everything else that may be related the part in question, and also took some preventative steps to ensure the issue wouldn't show itself again. A lot of places would not go the extra mile for you, but Gavin clearly took it upon himself to do so. The repair that I came in for was relatively simple. But the experience that I had with this shop for such a simple job makes me believe that my car will be in good hands if I ever need to come back. Needless to say, my car has not been able to repeat the issue since I've left the shop. This place gets my vote in all aspects: GREAT customer service, SUPER friendly staff, EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY of work, etc. I am happy to say that I have now found a trustworthy mechanic in San Diego for all my Honda needs. I will definitely be back here, and I will have my girlfriend's Honda serviced here from now on as well. Gavin, if you're reading this, thanks again man. I used to go to the car dealer to get my car serviced but every time I leave the place it cost me arm and a leg. It's ridiculous! It never fails that they will suggest of something that needs to be repaired or parts needing to b replaced. So I had to look at other options. I googled car service and this is one of the places that came up. I was hesitated at first as I want to make sure this is a good place to go. Then I called my cousin and asked if he knows of a good place I can take my car in for service. To my surprise, he recommended this place. It was the reassurance I was looking for. I took my car there last year and have been very happy with the service. They will not try to find something wrong with your car and suggest unnecessary repairs or part replacement. These are honest people and I wish them more blessings to come. Their sign says they've been in business for 36 years and to me that's a god sign. The only thing I don't like is the long wait if you plan on waiting there even when you already have an appointment.
