Chris from Urban Automotive saved our day (or night). We had just driven down from Los Angeles to Oceanside and had a "check electrical system" light come on our vehicle dashboard. Didn't think much of it until we lost power in our interior lights and our engine began to stall. 9:40 p.m on a Saturday night with no AAA. Needless to say, I didn't know what to. I called three mechanics listed on Yelp and Chris is the only one who picked up his phone. I told him about our problem was he let me know he was about 20 minutes away and would come with a new battery and alternator within the hour. I was blown away when within 40 minutes he sent me a message letting me know he was five minutes away. I found Cris to be extremely professional and diagnosed our electrical problem immediately. Not sure how I feel anymore. I got my brakes "done" by another shop in 2019. Come 2021 and there's a noise coming when I hit my brakes. I thought the original shop messed up anyways so I brought my car here. First he said it would be done around a certain time and just had my car sitting there. I waited well over the promised time. It was very annoying and rude. Also the posted address is not the address where his garage is. So then I had to drive back and forth to even get there. One year later my brakes are making the same noise. Brought it to a third shop so who said the prob was that my rotors were never touched. I wait and paid for a half assed job apparently and now I have to pay to get this done properly. But at least the shop in at now has free brake pad replacement for life. I would go to a corporation instead of these small local shops, not worth it in my opinion read more

My experience with Chris was nothing short of amazing. Chris is a hard-working, honest guy that will work with your car to the best of his abilities and not rip you off like other Mechanic. A bit of an embarassing story: Sunday morning, I went to a nearby gas station. The gas pump didn't fit in my nozzle of my Honda Civic 2014. For some reason , my common sense flew out the window and I forcefully pumped the gas in my car anyways. Well, that happened to be diesel gas I put in my gasoline powered-car. Drove it for a mile or two, and it stalled. Anyways, moral of the story: Don't make the same mistake like I did. A simple, avoidable mistake (with a hint of common sense) is the difference between shelling out a hefty amount of money from your pocket. Back to the story: I searched for a nearby mechanic who will take my car in and fix it the same day. Chris' mechanic shop popped up. Seeing that it had good reviews on Yelp, I decided to give him a call. Chris was very responsive and understanding. Even if he had several other cars on a Sunday, he decided to squeeze me in, worked on my car and get it running the very same day. Wowza where do I begin. I basically bolt issue where the bolts on my car were broken and mishandled by the tow company. I only found out when I got new tires installed by Costco. However, they couldn't install the donut tire because of these broken/busted bolts. I was freaking out because well it was almost 5:30-6PM when most shops closed. The guy that works at the Tire center in Costco recommended Chris and thank the anime gods above he was able to help. I met him at his shop, he explained to me the process after taking a look. He got the replacement bolts and was able to fix everything. Not to mention Chris is super awesome dude who has not only knowledge on cars but extensive knowledge on anime/manga and video games. It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was driving down to Escondido for a weekend vacation. Suddenly, my car refuses to go past 3,000 RPM. I limp off the freeway and make it the hotel... But now what? I'm not a car guy, and most mechanics are closed on Saturday night and Sunday. I have to do the 2-hour drive home by Sunday night at least. I was fortunate to find Chris right here on Yelp. I found Chris when I was looking for someone to inspect a car I had just purchased (2001 F350 V10) and Chris was the first person to get back to me. He spent a couple of hours with the truck looking over everything and got back to me with a list of repairs the truck needed. My air conditioning suddenly stopped working. After a friend suggested I buy some freon for my older Hyundai Sonata, and told me what kind to buy, and who to call to put it in my car, I bought two cans of freon that night at Walmart, and called Chris in the morning. He said "come on over", and gave me the address. I was there in about 20 minutes, and Chris was ready for me. It took him about ten minutes to fix my AC, and I asked what I owed him. He said $15. I was shocked, and quickly realized that I had another opportunity here. My windshield washing system had quit working several months before, and I had asked several mechanics how much it would cost to fix it. "It depends" was the usual answer. "Can't tell you until we take the fender off and look." The place that did my oil change six months ago said "Your tubing is corroded." Chris didn't blink when I asked him. "$60," he said. He also said, "It will take about an hour. Is that OK? I said yes, but I don't have anything to do while I wait. He had a chair and a charger for my phone, and I spent less that the hour on Pinterest. It was done, and all I had to do was thank and pay him, and fill up the bottle with window washing fluid. I had been long overdue for an oil change and my brakes were starting to make me feel anxious on the road. It had been my fault for putting off the service for so long, but when I needed it, he was able to get it done within the next six hours. I was skeptical at first pulling up, but he was very straight to the point and humble. Given that I had never received an auto service before, I was very blunt and made a comment about my skepticism; at which he responded, "Have you seen my reviews?" And well, he's damn right. After using Taskers Automotive for my last oil change and tire rotation, I wanted to go back only to be turned away because of their busy schedule. I came to yelp and found Chris and decided to give him a shot (because he has great hours and great reviews)! I dropped off my car for him to do routine maintenance; I needed an oil change, brakes checked, and tire rotation. While I was away, he texted me as things came up and asked me if I wanted him to fix them. He provided the price upfront before he did any of the work and took pictures to show me what he worked on! Best mechanic no doubt. It's hard to find a good mechanic anymore. Not only is Jabo friendly and very accommodating, he doesn't charge an arm and a leg and take advantage of those of us who aren't super car savvy. When my car broke down in downtown SD, he coordinated a tow for me to his place so I wouldn't have to do a $150 diagnostic and who knows how much else at a nearby place there. As long as I live here I won't go anywhere else with my car. The first time I met Chris I met Chris I was stranded around 10:00pm on a Tuesday off El Camino Real on a very dark parking lot, I was broke as joke he still came out to help me even though I told him I didn't have much money didn't know me and he still came out to help. He gave me a ride home, I had to go work the next day he took care of my problem, it was the radiator that gave out on me.
