Stopped by Boba Bay while visiting the beach and it was an alright experience. I will say the shop is cute and cozy with very minimal seating. Customer service was so-so, the staff person at the cashier was indifferent and apathetic, but the person making the drinks was quick and efficient. The drink menu prices were okay, although I spent $20 (including tip) for two mango boba drinks. I think they charge a little too much for toppings. The flavor of the mango passion boba was underwhelming, and I would agree with another reviewer, that the quality of the drinks needs to be improved. Honestly, I didn't really notice much mango flavor, and the drink seemed more watered down. However, I did like the texture of the actual boba and it helped improve the overall drink. Possibly worth visiting if you're nearby & really craving boba. Although, it may be best to visit another boba spot in Santa Cruz if you want a solid drink. read more

I was walking around town, just exploring the city and came across this very cute Boba place. I was craving for Boba and saw this very cute logo of an otter. Upon walking in, you see this gigantic cat in front of you. Super cute and there's a lot of swags that you can buy on your left and right. There's a class that you can order Self Service, or a staff member to help you order. She was super nice and very welcoming and explained one of the drink that I had a question about. I ordered their tiger milk tea with Boba. There's no ice level or sugar level like in the Bay area, so it's just your order and it's by default. The sugar level was about 75%, which is great. I don't like lots of sugar in my drink. I also felt that there wasn't much ice in my drink, which many people appreciate less ice for more liquids. I think I taste more of the brown sugar than the tea itself. Overall, the milk tea is pretty good out here. I would recommend to try this place and give it a try. They also make the food fresh so it does take time and they had a sign for it as well. read more

Must have shoes, but located at the beach. Irony, I think not. Unfortunately, if you don't have shoes you have to order outside with the QR code and somehow yell in to the staff that you ordered. I had a challenging experience learning this first hand. Not to mention that I was informed this by a snaky cashier. The folks in front of us in line were clearly from out of town and walked out because of the service and refused to return. They must know they have the best boba in the county according to my kids. Despite that I have avoided going back with the weird experience I had last time. I came back today to give it another chance. Surprisingly the same snarky cashier was still there. Another lady was also working and she was super nice. I'm not ready to rehash the experience with the cashier again. This place is a modern quaint boba shop with lots of yummy toppings and they also serve snacks!! The service was nice and it's very clean inside so I feel confident in ordering from this location again. My go to is always brown sugar boba since I have a sweet tooth and the boba did not disappoint! It was gummy the way boba should taste. It had a perfect texture. If you like matcha, this combo is really good. I would recommend this place as there isn't any other great boba shops nearby!!! soooo i got a strawberry matcha, didn't think its a super hard drink to make.... ended up spending almost 20$ for drinks we ended up throwing away. customer service was fine, i just think the quality of the drinks should be improved. i took a sip and literally the powder from the matcha ends up leaving a bitter and nasty taste in my mouth. don't recommend!! there is a cafe close by that sells boba drinks, bit mid, but truly better than this. read more

Pretty disappointed by this boba shop. It's locally owned and operated, so I wanted to like it... but it was honestly just not great quality. The Jasmine Milk Tea was standard. Weak tea quality. Not very floral. Very milky and 50% sweetness was fine to me. Not bad, but the boba wasn't the best. It tasted like the boba wasn't fresh and lacked sweetness a lot. The texture of the boba wasn't very QQ either. This is the only boba shop in Capitola, so I'll give it 3 stars for effort... UPDATE: The owner kindly reached out to me and offered a refund for the unsatisfactory drink. Since this is a local small business, I really do appreciate the customer management. Thank you, Cheryl! Came here and ordered a peach mango smoothie as it was a hot day and I was craving a smoothie. I paid with my card and received a number. However, after I placed my order the worker told me their blender was broken. I was a bit disappointed as there should've been a sign outside the door saying that it was broken before I ordered. Stuck in what feels like a never ending chaotic rabbit hole tumbling down deeper and deeper into disappointment. As an Asian girl who loves her tea and boba drinks, i took a leap of faith and gave this place, " Boba Bay" a try. I ordered two drinks for delivery which i had tried to cancel after finding out that the cafe was all the way in Capitola. I called the middle man delivery company, "GrubHub" and unfortunately the order was already confirmed so there was nothing i could do and no accommodation given to me. The two drinks i ordered were the strawberry smoothie bowl, Oreo drink with oat milk, and the Strawberry Guava tea. The Oreo drink had to be the most disappointing boba style drink that i have ever had. The drink tasted like watered down oat milk from a gutter. Unfortunately not even the toppings of Oreo crumbles and whipped cream couldn't even save this drink. I asked for EZ boba because im in the process of becoming that girl during hot summer, but was unpleasantly surprised to have what seemed as even more boba than a regular serving. The boba wasn't sweet and there wasn't enough brown sugar and honey syrup. The strawberry Guava drink was the star of the show as the sweet, acidic, and refreshing essence of strawberries went along well with the guava nectar. The only complaint i have for this drink was that after drinking more and more there was this bitter taste that showed up uninvited to the party. At last all the pressure was on for this smoothie bowl to save my opinion of this attempt of a boba shop. Packed with lots of fresh and crunchy granola. Chia seeds, fresh strawberries and bananas i was pleasantly surprised. The smoothie part itself could have used more flavor as there wasn't much of a fruity essence given off while eating. That, and a drizzle of honey would have pulled this bowl all together. Overall this wasn't my cup of tea, but I'm also someone that's hard to please especially when it comes to boba drinks. Anything with fruit from here is fine, just don't order anything that's suppose to be milky and sweet and you could leave happy. read more

Oh baby baby, I'm so glad there's finally another good boba shop that has finally opened in the Santa Cruz area. Boba Bay is a new, adorable shop that has opened up to appease all of us Asians that have wanted more tea shops in the area. Their aesthetic is super cute - loved the logo and the wall decor they have inside as well. They offer a variety of standard milk and fruit tea drinks, many of which you'll find in other places. They offer almond milk as an alternative but most milk teas already utilize a non-dairy creamer. I ordered a Jasmine Green Tea with boba, and it was a solid beverage as you'd expect from a boba shop. Prices here were quite steep (over $7 a drink) but it's likely a product of them being in Capitola Village. Regardless, I'm so happy to have another boba option available to me whenever I have a craving. Looking forward to returning again Boba Bay! read more

Ordered 3 Strawberry Fruit Bowls ($50). Waited 15 min for order. When our order was up, the staff told us that the strawberries were rotten so she didn't put in our "strawberry bowl". We stopped by after walking around Capitola because it was too hot to stay in one spot. This little shop is located right at the entrance of the beach. There's only standing room and 3 window bar seats inside. We were unlucky as our order was behind this large order of 12 drinks, and they were severely understaffed due their employees being stuck in Labor Day traffic. So the wait for our drinks were quite a while, but understandable. I ordered the Lychee Refresher at half sweet because I prefer my drinks to be not too sweet. It was very good and indeed refreshing. I saw on the menu, they also offer fresh Açaí bowls which was interesting. We saw some people order that too. It's a good boba stop shop, highly recommended! read more

This boba place is small but so cute- tiny but powerful. I didn't expect to see a boba shop in Capitola but here it is! They just opened on Fri 8/5/2022 and they have a decent menu filled with milk tea options, fruit teas, a couple smoothies and a couple acai bowls. We came here with kids and they really wanted the strawberry passion fruit tea so I asked if they can make that without caffeine and they said "absolutely!". They can replace the tea with water and they did. I also asked if they can split the cup for the the two so they can share and they did just that and more- so very kind! 5 star service! Also for their opening, they have these cute reusable bags (limited time only). On top of that, I haven't seen sugar cane juice other than Asia and they offered it here. My sister ordered it and it was very good. If you like sugar cane, I highly recommend it! I would totally get myself next time. I will say that the drinks are on the more expensive side, $7 but it was good. I like that they use real frozen fruit for their purees as well. We were in the area to see the capitola village houses. We enjoyed the walk and came across this boba shop. With the heat wave going on, a cold drink was called for. Son got his flavor strawberry milk with boba. Daughter got her lychee punch with boba. For me, one who doesn't like like milk as a drink of choice decided a sugar cane drink. They actually imported the sugar cane and no sugar added on the drinks. It sounds impressive than how it is tasted. But I appreciate the freshness. Definitely quenched my thirst. We were pretty excited to try this boba shop as they have options on milk. It's located in Capitola Village so finding parking can be tricky. The shop is small and cute with tons of boba decorations and squishmellows. Good sized menu as well. We ordered the strawberry milk tea with oat milk and boba + the oreo Okinawa milk tea with boba. I'm he strawberry tasted like a milkshake with some boba hut not as much. The strawberry's were a super nice touch. As for the orea drink, it initially look nice but it tasted very watered down. It was hard to drink the boba with the amount of ice they added. In general, it was nice to try but considering my partners experience with his Oreo milk tea we probably wouldn't give it a try again. read more
