I have been here twice now. The first time was probably a few years ago. I recalled that I didn't like what I ordered. This time around, the same. I ordered a lychee oolong. Came here on a random weekday, and it was empty. I expected better service given so, but one of the workers just looked at me through the open door while I was standing at the register. At least a simple hi or a wave would suffice. Also, it still took some time before the worker walked over to me even though she made eye contact with me already and there was no one else waiting to order. Keep in mind, there were two workers in the back. The drinks were okay. Not super bad, but not super great where I would go out of my way to drive back here for preference. I tried the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea and liked the light taste, but I've also tried TP Tea's version of the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea and TP Tea's tasted light but more flavorful in comparison. My mom tried their Classic Black Milk Tea, which was good-- can't really go wrong with a black milk tea at a boba shop, so it's a safe choice. I do like how this place is outdoors and you get the fresh air by the ocean, so that's a plus with the outdoor seating. Just wish that service was better overall. read more

I was also disappointed that they kept us waiting in between orders since everyone was basically only getting one drink. They also would not let us make any modifications to the drink. While me and my friend just missed the free full sized product, we were handed a small sample. I was also disappointed to see that some drinks were poorly made, especially since we waited so long. The drink itself wasn't bad, just really sweet. I liked that it was made with coconut milk, but the toasted coconut on top tasted like plastic and seemed to be there just as a decorative touch. Overall I would not trust this Boba guy's location. It's definitely not the same quality. I've tried at other locations. This is my favorite boba place! I like this location better than the one in Costa Mesa; it's at 2nd/PCH and is more of a kiosk/stand than a full shop. I live a bit too far to drive there just for a drink, but sometimes I order it through Doordash or I just HAVE to stop by when I'm at the mall for lunch, shopping, or Whole Foods. The seating is casual outdoors but covered. Service is fine and unremarkable; I haven't encountered anything notable in my many times there. My favorite is the jasmine green milk tea, but you can't go wrong with the classic black, strawberry jasmine tea, lychee oolong tea, or any of the milk teas or fruit frescas really. Not counting the short-lived Our Place pop-up, this is my least favorite Boba Guys. Drink standards and boba texture isn't as consistent compared to what I've gotten at their other cafes. I liked Classic Black when I first went several years ago. Recently, not as much. Too much ice, the sugar percentages are off, or the tea just isn't there. The toppings on my last visit were solid like rocks. I tried the Strawberry Fields and it was boring. The Horchata was watery. I didn't think the caramel and matcha latte combination went well together. So I'll probably stick to their other locations. read more

Sadly, Boba Guys is sort of a miss for me, not sure what the hype is about! I've tried a couple of their regular drinks and they've always been mediocre. I tried the Matcha Latte before and it was lacking in Matcha flavor -- tasted a little watered down and bland. I also tried the Korean Banana Milk which tasted a little too sweet. I can see this varying based on the banana used, but overall, it just didn't taste that good! I may be a bit bias though, since I love the store-bought Korean banana milk and this one was just TOO banana-y for me. Most recently, I tried one of their seasonal Sakura drinks and that was probably the best thing I've had here. Too bad it was seasonal! If I am in the area (since the location is great), I would get it if I had boba. But I would not go out of my way for it. read more

Late updated review: I agree with the other Yelper regarding how unorganized the Laneige collab was. It was also very underwhelming in that there was no physical marketing indicating the event was taking place. Other than through social media or word of mouth, you would never know it was happening while at 2nd & PCH. The employees appeared less than thrilled to be there given their overall tone and demeanor. It was also very disappointing that the plushie keychains were not clearly displayed for purchase. Towards that end and after leaving, I noticed mine were damaged. There is no phone number listed for any Boba Guys location so I reached out through the contact page on their website. After 3 separate emails to them, I finally got a response over a month later. Apparently, customer service is not a priority. As a reminder, there are many boba shops in the LA/OC area to frequent. Personally, I choose places that not only have quality drinks, but also value how customers are treated. read more

I have always loved boba guys since having them up north. I especially love the matcha strawberry but this round I had the dirty banana milk and it was good! Cute little boba stand located in the 2nd & PCH shopping plaza that has a pretty diverse selection of drinks to choose from! Servers are friendly and there's lots of seating in the area. It does get pretty packed so it is a good idea to order online but drinks come out at pretty decent times when ordering there too! I used to love this place because of the strawberry matcha with oat milk but in the more recent times I've had it, it just didn't taste as good. I think it's the matcha, it tasted odd. But I decided to give the shop another try and order something different this time! I ordered the White Peach Jasmine Fresca, which is a seasonal option. This was refreshing! I'm not a huge fan of jasmine but the floral flavor was just right. Sweetness was good and the peach flavor was very slight. There were some white chunks at the bottom of the drink which I wasn't sure were. I didn't get any toppings so I'm guessing it's part of the tea or flavoring? But just kinda odd. Pricing was pretty decent for a tea. 4/5 Overall, I had a pretty pleasant experience here after not having it for a long time due to poor previous experiences. When Boba Guys brought back their mango sticky rice drink, I knew I had to go try it to see how they measured up to the popular dessert. Since I was in town, that's how I found myself at the 2ND & PCH mall on a warm, Sunday afternoon. The 2ND & PCH mall has ample parking, so finding a spot was easy. The challenge turned out to be locating the Boba Guys shop in the mall. It took a little bit of wandering around before I stumbled upon the shop in one of the breezeways. I thought it was neat how the storefront and tables were entirely outdoors in the breezeway. The gentle breeze brought in the fresh ocean air, and I felt like I was about to order boba somewhere tropical and far away from LA. And it's Boba Guys after all, so of course I asked for my mango sticky rice drink with boba. The drink arrived quickly, and I was eager to try it. I guess I also didn't read the menu close enough; I was expecting white sticky rice instead of black sticky rice. But black rice is is what the menu says, and black rice is what I got. So I was in for a bold and sweet treat. In the dessert, the rice and mango are front and center, and the milk is the flourish on top. But the drink flips it upside down where the boba and milk are the main courses and the mango and rice are the accents. Altogether, the drink works very well. Earthy, sweet, nutty, and creamy all at the same time. It stays true to itself as a boba milk drink and yet the source inspiration of the mango sticky rice is very much there.
