Boba milk tea with oatmilk regular sweet. On the less sweet scale and boba was very good. Perfect texture. Strawberry Matcha with oatmilk was decent. Located inside 2nd & PCH shopping center on the Marina side towards the parking lot on the other side of Whole Foods. entrance. I usually park at the Marina side if there's parking available.
I have been here twice now. The first time was probably a few years ago. I recalled that I didn't like what I ordered. This time around, the same. I ordered a lychee oolong. Not sure if they ran out of oolong, but there was no tea flavor at all?? I felt like I was drinking lychee juice or something. Maybe they are popular for their strawberry matcha milk? Since Boba Guys opened, I heard good things about it. Maybe I happened to order the wrong drink. I don't think I will be back, but if I do...I will try their milk drinks.
Always stopping by here when I'm at 2nd and PCH. The rose black tea, strawberry matcha latte, and lychee oolong tea are my top favorites. I love that their drinks here are not as sweet but flavorful and refreshing. Tons of seating to hang out at. On occasion, they have a live musician on the stage by the grassy area. Good drinks. Fast service.
Came here on a random weekday, and it was empty. I expected better service given so, but one of the workers just looked at me through the open door while I was standing at the register. At least a simple hi or a wave would suffice. Also, it still took some time before the worker walked over to me even though she made eye contact with me already and there was no one else waiting to order. Keep in mind, there were two workers in the back. The drinks were okay. Not super bad, but not super great where I would go out of my way to drive back here for preference. I tried the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea and liked the light taste, but I've also tried TP Tea's version of the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea and TP Tea's tasted light but more flavorful in comparison. My mom tried their Classic Black Milk Tea, which was good-- can't really go wrong with a black milk tea at a boba shop, so it's a safe choice. I do like how this place is outdoors and you get the fresh air by the ocean, so that's a plus with the outdoor seating. Just wish that service was better overall.
My son and his friend's favorite boba place! Yummy! I'm trying the different boba flavors! He likes the banana one and the strawberry one. My friend likes the rose boba. It's an acquired taste. Tastes fancy and healthy. Great staff! Great place to sit and relax and hang out and shop around after! Thank you guys!
Idk if it's this particular drink but I thought it was pretty average. I still enjoyed it since we worked out before. The boba was slightly hard and it was difficult to chew. Also maybe because it was later in the day, I just felt rushed to order since they were cleaning up? But the location is nice since there's plenty of seating. My friends and I were craving boba and wanted something sweet but I don't think I'll be coming back unfortunately.
We went for the Boba guys X Laneige event and was disappointed by the organization and attitude of the employees. We got there at 9:30 and the Bobo guys did not open until 11, but there were definitely people cutting and saving spots. While it is not the employees fault that the event was not organized, they were rude when we were ordering. I was also disappointed that they kept us waiting in between orders since everyone was basically only getting one drink. They also would not let us make any modifications to the drink. While me and my friend just missed the free full sized product, we were handed a small sample. I was also disappointed to see that some drinks were poorly made, especially since we waited so long. The drink itself wasn't bad, just really sweet. I liked that it was made with coconut milk, but the toasted coconut on top tasted like plastic and seemed to be there just as a decorative touch. Overall I would not trust this Boba guy's location. It's definitely not the same quality. I've tried at other locations. Also, the location is like an outdoor stand in the middle of a wind tunnel, so it's freezing cold.
Interesting location. They are on the marina side of 2ND & PCH, like in a tunnel between Noble Bird and Lululemon. It gets super windy, especially in the evenings. There's plenty of seating if you want to linger. The large aardvark logo on the white brick walls is a good background for drink pictures. Not counting the short-lived Our Place pop-up, this is my least favorite Boba Guys. Drink standards and boba texture isn't as consistent compared to what I've gotten at their other cafes. I liked Classic Black when I first went several years ago. Recently, not as much. Too much ice, the sugar percentages are off, or the tea just isn't there. The toppings on my last visit were solid like rocks. I tried the Strawberry Fields and it was boring. The Horchata was watery. I didn't think the caramel and matcha latte combination went well together. So I'll probably stick to their other locations.
Hong Kong milk tea was strong, not too sweet (100% sweetness, extra tea) and it really hot the spot. I love that the staff taking our orders was also very friendly and helpful. It was my first time getting boba guys and I'm not sure if the drinks are going to be overly sweet or not. So she recommended getting 100% sweetness, with extra tea. Great recommendation! Plenty of seats and there's even a grassy area, which I guess is meant for kids/dogs.
I've been coming here since it opened. It's conveniently located so you can grab your favorite to sip on while shopping at 2nd and PCH. My usual go to is a matcha latte and I sometimes switch it up to the matcha strawberry. The boba is chewy yet not too soft. The ube latte is sweet with coconut milk. They also have non caffeinated drinks for kids!
This is my favorite boba place! I like this location better than the one in Costa Mesa; it's at 2nd/PCH and is more of a kiosk/stand than a full shop. I live a bit too far to drive there just for a drink, but sometimes I order it through Doordash or I just HAVE to stop by when I'm at the mall for lunch, shopping, or Whole Foods. The seating is casual outdoors but covered. Service is fine and unremarkable; I haven't encountered anything notable in my many times there. My favorite is the jasmine green milk tea, but you can't go wrong with the classic black, strawberry jasmine tea, lychee oolong tea, or any of the milk teas or fruit frescas really. The drinks and boba are simply the best!!
I was in the area and looking for a refreshing boba drink; the yelp app pointed me here. It's located in the 2nd and PCH complex with the counter in a breezeway. They have a lot of tables next to the counter and, being in that breezeway, it's shaded but reflecting whatever the outdoor temperature may be. I ordered a large coffee milk tea with boba. I'd never heard of such a thing but it sounded good. The affable young woman taking my order asked if I wanted it sweetened and I randomly guessed maybe 50% might be a good amount. In what seemed like a minute my drink was ready. The sweetness was perfect - not too much but enough to take away any bitterness the coffee might have without affecting the coffee flavor. The boba was perfectly squishy and the stupid paper? fiber? straw actually stayed sturdy through my beverage experience. This was my favorite boba drink of all time so five stars is an easy rating. read more

Had to stop by for boba on my way to walk around the mall! There was no line and my boba was served promptly. Will definitely be coming back to try more flavors. Boba guys had so many interesting drink options and an enticing "passport" promo with a discount on your first drink. I decided on the black sugar hojicha which was recommended to me. The hojicha flavor was herbal but refreshing and so tasty. My only comment is that I wish it was stronger as i felt like my drink was a little too milky. The presentation was amazing and the boba were soft and sweet. I will have to come back to try the matcha caramel pandan flavor and visit some of the nearby restaurants! read more

This was my 1st time having boba guy. It took about 5-10 min to get my drink. It's like an outdoor stall. I got the Sapin sapin which consist of ube and jackfruit milk. The jackfruit milk did throw me off like a tart flavor and I barely tasted the ube. I would say put more ube in it. Or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I wanted to try something unique. The boba was qq and chewy. Also, the boba is more expensive than other boba shops. I guess that's what you get for paying for the name. read more

All signs told me that I would have liked Boba Guys. They have great collaborations with other companies (notably Sonny Angel!). They were some of the earliest boba shops that began a clean and streamlined visual profile with their adorable logo and merchandise. They have an elevated drinks menu with new flavors that are elaborated versions of classics or flavors you would not find in a traditional old-school boba shop. They also have a heavy emphasis on customizability in terms of sweetness levels, ice levels, (high quality) choice milk (great on not charging extra for milk substitutions), and size. And this is now the industry standard for boba shops, but it's much appreciated. It's also a part of drink shop initiatives to maximize the enjoyability of a drink based on customer preferences. I mean, why order something you know you wouldn't like? Folks at the register are also ready to answer any questions about what to expect out of your drink. When we got our order, they were ready to exclaim that drink adjustments are totally acceptable and welcomed. So to my dismay, I did not like my drink. Naturally, I turned to my bobarista and asked it to be tweaked. But I think what has happened is part of a larger problem seen in boba shops today. We are living in an age where boba shops are not, in fact, boba shops, but rather drink shops. And this distinction I'm making is to make note of the fact that boba shops operating at this caliber are even more likely to give you a drink that is unpleasant. A lot of thought and care goes into crafting a drink, but I would say the flavor and taste is not there. Also, only having 1 type of boba and being called Boba Guys sets up expectations for a great tapioca pearl, but it was average. I got a pretty standard Matcha Latte, sub almond milk, 75% sweet. When it arrived, what I thought were vanilla beans to flavor and sweeten the drink were actually undissolved matcha granules. So that also tells me that the tea part of these boba places is not up to the same level of care, and that the preparation is not that of the traditional chasen method. And this is also not to say that they should prepare their matcha in a traditional way, but rather this method is underdeveloped and does not match the quality of the rest of its menu, despite being a standard classic. It was also a lower grade of matcha so no flavor came through it was bitter, bland, and took on the flavor of the plain almond milk, even after asking for an extra shot of matcha and sweetener. Nothing can mask this. And being that its priced at elevated boba shop prices, I justified the purchase by giving my drink away. As previously stated, they have a strong visual profile, but that is not consistent across the board when it comes to their own menu. Drink steps were formatted in a way that lacked flow. Different font sizes ruined the legibility, which defeats the purpose of an in-person menu. And this really stands out because this is the important part of having a designer. It's about accessibility, legibility, and customer flow, which I can't say are the things that characterize their menu. read more

This place always surprises me. when it first opened, i HATED it and i was like ewwwwww nooo i don't wanna go here. but then sometimes last year (i think) i went to try it again and i was so surprised! first of all, they updated their menu and added wayyy more drinks, and secondly, their drinks were SUPER BOMB!!! I think this boba place is a must if u go to 2nd and pch. the service is really fast and it's outdoors so idrk how to describe the ambience. but its cute and the drinks are super yummy, so i would definitely recommend!! read more
the black sugar hojicha with boba was pretty good! It was around $7 with boba with no substitutions for oat milk. The waiter was kind and informative. the outside seating was a little bit dirty and could use a wipe down. overall it was pretty good but not my favorite boba drink I have had. read more

I love that they have seasonal drinks that keep things fresh and interesting. We tried the Sapin-Sapin drink which tasted very similar to the actual dessert which was super amazing and nostalgic for us. The server was super nice in explaining the newer drinks and was quick to take our orders. They have enough seating area and there wasn't too much loud music which we liked. read more

The mango sticky rice had no hint of mango at all. It was so overly sweet, like they dumped in a whole cup of sugar! Not worth my $10 read more
(Rewriting to correct a typo and inaccuracy) If Boba Guys is better than Five Guys, then Boba is a number greater than 5. No that's not how math works, especially since I'm comparing boba to burgers. However, I did make it a point to stop by Boba Guys after a Yelp friend recommended them to me. Boba Guys is located at 2nd and PCH. On my first visit, I arrived about 20-30 minutes before closing time. There wasn't a line, but the menu behind the order counter was pretty difficult to read from a distance. I had to take a photo of the menu and zoom in on the photo in order to read it. By the time I decided what to order, 4 other customers stepped in line, with 3 in one party. The party of 3 took pretty long to order. During my wait, I looked back and noticed about 7 customers waiting behind me! It was probably about 5 minutes before I came up to order an iced 24 oz Jasmine Green Milk Tea with boba. The menu listed four steps in the ordering process, and I had only completed half. For the third step, I had to choose a milk. The choices were Organic Dairy Milk, Almond Milk, Oat Milk, and no milk. I don't think I've had Organic Dairy Milk before, so I went with that. Finally, I had to choose a sweetness level. I went with their recommendation of 50%. After reciting my order, I asked the cashier how long I'd have to wait. She actually went back to the kitchen to ask, and then she told me about 5-10 minutes. However, it was probably 2 minutes before I heard "Order for Derek!" Did my ears deceive me? Or did I have a really bad sense of time? In any event, he handed me my drink without a straw, and then I went to grab a straw by the pickup counter. I grabbed a small straw before realizing there were larger straws for the boba. Whoops! lol I wasn't sure what exactly Jasmine Tea was supposed to taste like, and after drinking the iced tea, I still wasn't sure. That's not to say the drink tasted bad. Maybe I should have upped the sweetness level or maybe I should have picked a different dairy, but this cup of tea just wasn't my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the boba, which was cooked nicely, so that's definitely a plus. $6 for a boba might be a little steep, but the cup I was given was pretty large that I wouldn't necessarily say the size is unreasonable at that price point, especially if I'm paying just $1 more for 8 additional oz. For this Boba Guys, you don't actually go inside. The order counter is outside, and there are a handful of dining tables to the right for you to enjoy your boba. The pickup area might be a little slippery because as I was waiting in line, I saw a customer spill half of his drink on the floor and counter. Did he slip on the floor tiles that spelled out BOBA? Either way, that was a sad sight to see! I visited a different boba shop and ordered the Jasmine Milk Green Tea as well, but I didn't like that one either, so I decided to give Boba Guys another try. On my second visit, I went with a 24 oz Iced Espresso Milk Tea with boba and almond milk at 50% sweetness level. The cashier this time mentioned that if I didn't like the drink, they could remake it for me, which I thought was pretty cool. Just like the first visit, it only took a couple minutes for them to prepare my drink. I took a few sips of the milk tea, but that drink also fell short for me. It tasted pretty watered down, and there was plenty of ice in the drink. I was considering going back to let the cashier know, but then the line suddenly went from 0 to 60 in 10 seconds. Okay maybe not that fast and maybe not that many, but you get the idea. I didn't want to bother the cashier when she had a long line in front of her, so I just left. While I appreciate how I got my drinks pretty fast, maybe if I had waited longer, they would have tasted better? Not sure about that, but neither drink really gave me any lasting impression whatsoever. Two stars for the drinks, but service was friendly enough that if I gave fewer than three stars, I felt it would have been a disservice. If I make a return visit, I'm definitely making different choices at every step of the ordering process, but since I don't stop by 2nd and PCH that often, that return visit likely won't be for a while. read more
Decided to get some boba since we were in the area. There are several stores, restaurants, and things to do on 2nd and PCH. When we got here, there was no line and service was quick. My bf and I ordered the Hong Kong Milk Tea with boba. The drinks were decent. It wasn't too sweet and it tasted a bit bland. However, the boba was sweet so it kinda made up for it. It was also soft and chewy. We have had better drinks elsewhere. Not always our first option but we come here once in a while if we're in the area! read more

ORDERS: - Sapin Sapin - Pastel Paradise Cloud Both are super refreshing and delicious! Sapin was the perfect Filipino dessert in boba form! It's on the sweeter side for 100% sweetness. The paradise cloud had a nice balance of strawberry and tea perfect for the summer! Super fast service and staff were friendly! Also this spot is located in a shopping area. read more
The good: I'm a boba girl in this boba world. Milk tea in plastic, it's fantastic. This is the first boba spot where I've seen them have a decaf black milk tea option! I was really impressed by that. I'm currently pregnant so I'm always looking for decaf versions of drinks and usually just forgo drinking boba all together to avoid the caffeine. I ended up getting the sesame ginger milk tea instead and thought it was a fun and unique flavor combination. My 1 year old enjoyed it too. The space is trendy and modern and is located outdoors but with a covered ceiling. It's kind of in a breezeway between shops. The bad: I don't know if they adjust sweetness or not but I didn't see a sign for it and wasn't asked about it. The space is covered but is outdoors so the seating area around it can be cold or windy (like today) depending on local weather. The interesting: This place started in SF. Perfectly chewy boba. Boba Guys is located in the 2nd & PCH shopping center. Lots of cute sitting options to enjoy your tea. They offer a smaller menu compared to other boba shops. They have options that are less traditional but very tasty. I've tried a few things and they've all been delicious. Their boba tastes so fresh! Soft and chewy. I drove here specifically for the limited Brothers Sun theme drink, only to find out I was two days late! Shoulda read the fine print on the IG post :( I've been to Boba Guys in SF before, but it's okay because there were still lots of new seasonal drinks I could try out. I decided on the hojicha banana latte. Drinks are definitely in the pricier end since it was almost $7 for the smaller size, but they always have reliable quality at Boba Guys. My drink was the perfect balance of the two flavors and you could truly taste each one in every sip. The sip lids are a must too! This is a nice location right off the water so I can imagine it gets extremely busy during the day! Luckily I had no wait and I got parking in front. My niece loves boba and Boba Guys is her favorite place to get boba. The first time she brought me here, I was immediately won over by the Ube Latte made with coconut milk and cardamom. I only know of one other place that makes a delicious Ube Latte and it's all the way in West LA (Sawtelle) so I'm super grateful that I can get my Ube Latte fix right here in Long Beach! https://bit.ly/3Wo9TIF The last time we came here, she gave me a sip of her Iced Rose Black with oat milk. She usually gets it with 50% sweetness. It was so good! I didn't think I would enjoy the flavor of rose but it works in this drink. I see that their current seasonal menu has a Pandan Caramel Matcha which sounds super interesting. I think I'll need to make a stop at Boba Guys soon. This 2nd & PCH location is super convenient though I recommend ordering it online and picking up your drink in case they have a line. read more

Stopped by this place recently during a chili winter day in Long Beach. It was in the 50s so that's pretty cold for us. We wanted boba but didn't want a cold drink.... I never knew this but you can get hot versions of some of their drinks! They're actually pretty tasty! We had the jasmine milk tea, the Hong Kong milk tea and the pandan matcha green tea. Served warm but not too hot in the hot non clear cups so I didn't take photos of them. My favorite was the jasmine milk tea because it's simple. Good jasmine flavor hot with warm boba. The boba was chewy and not stale. I almost want to go back just for that. The ube n cream brownie was pretty good too. Moist, chewy with a great brownie texture. The customer service was pretty good too. The guy who helped us was really friendly and apparently helped creat some of the alcoholic drink recipes in their book. He showed some of it to us and was pretty proud of it. I did come here one other time months ago and I fit the name of the drink but it had ginger in it. It wasn't my favorite. If you're familiar with Filipino food, it tastes like tinola. But hey to each their own! Anyway, I'll come back... read more

When this tea and boba shop opened up at 2nd and PCH, I wanted to try it but didn't try it for a while because I was convinced everything they made came with boba and I'm not huge on boba all the time. When I found out that anything you order can be customized, I tried this shop out the next time that I went to 2nd and PCH. The first drink is fried was their matcha latte and I customized my order to include almond milk. I loved that I was able to adjust the sweetness of the drink (I like to taste the flavor of the matcha more than a sweet drink). I really enjoyed this drink and the promptness of how quickly the drink was made as well! It seemed like I ordered it and within 5 minutes it was done! The next time I came here, I ordered their strawberry matcha latte and that's the only drink that I've been ordering here since then. I love this drink because besides whatever sugar is in the strawberry jelly, the drink is unsweetened. I've always ordered it with almond milk and absolutely love it! I enjoy it so much that it's influenced me to order a strawberry matcha latte any time I've seen this drink on the menu at any coffee shop. Any other place has not tasted as good as the strawberry matcha latte here. So just save your time and come to the OG spot where they first started serving strawberry matcha lattes and treat yourself to one, you won't be disappointed! This is completely outdoors, although all the drinks here are made in an indoor Im environment. I've noticed over the amount of times that I've been here (amount 10 times now), they keep their lines pretty short and make drinks pretty quickly to keep people satisfied and moving pretty quickly and efficiently from ordering to getting their drink. Even when ordering multiple drinks here, it's never more than 5 minutes after I place my order to have my drink ready and in my hands, ready for consumption. I've also brought my mom, cousin and a couple of different friends here to try their drinks. Each of them said they weren't too sweet and just what they needed and expected. read more

I finally made it to Boba Guys! While exploring 2nd and PCH, I stumbled across Boba Guys. I have heard of it but had no idea it was within this shopping plaza. So I of course needed to try it out. I went with my usual, Thai Tea with Boba. The gentleman was super nice, he even complimented me on my shades. While waiting I took a gander at their outdoor seating area and I really liked the aesthetic they had going on. My drink was ready within minutes and I took my first sip. I have to be honest, I was expecting a "yum" moment. But instead, it was more of an "eh" moment for me. Don't get me wrong, it was good but not great. The boba however was "yum"! It tasted super fresh and soft. I appreciate the overall mission of Boba Guys. The owners Andrew and Bin want to "fundamentally change the way people view boba, tea, and perhaps food". I think they are well on their way. read more

The first Boba Guys I visited was in SF in 2018, I'm glad they have expanded to SoCal since then. I've been going to the Costa Mesa one for the past 2 years but this was my first time at the Long Beach location. My favorite drink is the Black Sugar Hojicha with boba and it did not disappoint. Service was quick, staff were friendly. This location is interesting because there isn't an actual "store" you order in. The area is covered and there is ample seating. Parking isn't an issue, there's a parking structure (first 90 mine free) and some parking areas around the mall. read more
Located just minutes from the beach, right of the famed PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), Boba Guys is THE PLACE TO BE. We ordered their famed Strawberry Matcha and the Hong Kong Milk Tea boba to-go and enjoyed it right on the beach! I know what you're thinking....Strawberry + Matcha + Milk Tea ??? That's EXACTLY what was going on in my mind when I first heard about Boba Guys. I mustered up the adventurous foodie in me and finally got myself to order it after a good 15 min of convincing by sil, and my GOODNESS am I glad I got it. Yes! It works! The creaminess of the matcha latte mixed with the tangy-sweetness of the house-made strawberry jam truly made for a beautiful concotion of sugary goodness! read more

i got the lychee oolong tea and it was perfect for a hot day! you can't go wrong with the drinks at boba guys. it's all good and no extra fees for milk substitutes! the service was super friendly and quick. even though they were busy, the drinks came out so fast. there's plenty of seating to enjoy your drink outside. read more
Outdoor boba shop that is very dog friendly. I think my favorite part is their seating area but it does get windy since out there. I got their strawberry matcha latte. It is on the sweet side (the jam) but tastes fine. The cost is $5.75 for the smallest size. The guy working there is really nice and said if I didn't like the drink he would let me exchange it. read more
So happy there's a location in the OC. We stopped by after brunch with a few people in line but the wait to order and pick up took a while due to being short staffed. Sugar hojicha (~$6/7) - I love hojicha and was excited to try it with boba. 50% sweet worked for me and I was able to still taste the hojicha flavor. read more
Nice location staff was helpful. I got the seasonal mango sticky rice drink and do not recommend. It tasted like the rice had gone bad and the milk was spoiled. We did ask the staff if we could get a different drink. The employee did let us know that the drink was a hit or miss. But even while drinking this beverage there was a foul smell to it. We were shocked by the taste that we ended up with a simple jasmine iced tea. But even the jasmine tea tasted more like a Ceylon black tea. read more
For a chain that uses the phrase, "serving the highest quality bubble milk tea in the world" it sure was disappointing. Took the fam to get boba. We ordered Strawberry fields, rose matcha, thai tea, horchata, lychee, dirty horchata and green tea matcha. Out of 7 drinks, 3 were deemed good to okay. My dirty horchata really did taste like dirt. Hubby asked them to add more sweetener but it didn't help. Still tasted like dirt. Just a tad bit sweeter. I wound up throwing it all away. I hate wasting but i dont think there was any way that i / they could have fixed it to make it better. The horchata tasted like milky water, the rose tea was meh, and the thai tea made my kid's stomach sore. Hubby's strawberry fields was better than mine but that's not saying much lol. My other 2 kids liked their lychee & green tea bobas so that's good for them. I think it's a good concept-- they let you choose what milk you want; oat, coconut, dairy, organic & the branding is really cool but the flavors just aren't right and the sweetness just isn't there. The cashier was very sweet though! She tried to help make my drink better, and I appreciate her effort. *Caution, rant: i felt so bad for the sweet cashier because some classless person let their dog defecate in front of the counters and didn't bother picking it up-- and SHE had to clean it!) come on people! Clean up after yourself, your dogs, your kids, whatever. You make a mess, PICK IT UP! Don't force others to do it for you!! I dont care if you bought a $5 drink from them, it doesn't justify your careless, entitled actions! Anyway. This place is not my cup of boba tea. Sorry guys. read more

Can I order a drink and request no ice? I don't want to take the drink home and it becomes watered down.
I definitely think so, considering they were more than willing to accommodate other things for the drink. They also ask you very specific details about how you want to customize your drink or if you want to, so I'm sure no ice is a possibility.
