I live in Hanford but would definitely go out of my way to get boba island. The sushi and boba are amazing!

Staff is nice which is why I gave 2 stars rather than one but the boba does not do its name justice. The pearls were way too sweet and overcooked. They fell apart as I was sucking them through my straw. I ordered jasmine milk tea and it just tastes like watered down milk... this is my second visit. And quality did not change after the first time I visited. Husband got almond milk tea and tasted better than mine but still not what we expect. I'd rather drive to fresno for my boba. I've tried multiple sushi dishes from there and they were all about or below mediocre status. It just didn't taste that good, and the plates it comes out in makes me think that they could be preparing the rolls way ahead of time and just saving them until they sell or go bad enough to be noticed. I feel like the main reason one should go there is if they enjoy boba drinks (I am not one of those people). The seating is crowded because inside the shop is incredibly small. They also take quite a while to make my drink the few times I've gotten drinks there, even when it wasn't busy. Also, I got there right before a rush once and three groups that ordered behind me got their food/drinks, and when I asked where my stuff was, they brought my sushi out to me and it was almost room temperature like it had been sitting out. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the boba drinks are supposedly great and I can't really judge them as bad just because I don't personally like the taste of boba balls. read more

I asked the cashier if the Green Apple Green Tea was good and she said it was good. i asked her if she had it, she said no but a lot of people order it. So I ordered the Green Apple Green Tea, it was a no go! First of all, it's not tea! it taste like a melted down lime ice cream bar. I requested to get it exchange for a regular green tea. The green tea tasted like green tea. I ordered the Tamago, Salmon, and Salmon nigiri and I was highly disappointed. The food looked like a new person who is learning how to cut and the sushi. The sushi wasn't fresh and it tasted like it was refreeze a few times which tasted like rubber. My friend ordered the spicy tuna roll which it was drench in sesame oil and you could taste nothing but sesame oil. All of the sushi fell apart when you touch it. I usually use my hand to eat sushi, even with that it still fell apart. If this was a real sushi restaurant I would returned all of the food. I won't be eating there anymore. I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there to eat sushi. If they want boba, go for your boba but i wouldn't recommend it either. read more

UPDATE!!! Ok, so we had to go try the sushi here....It was great!!! We were sooo excited, it was all good. Vege and shrimp tempura was fresh and crisp. We had the Spicy Tuna, the Hot Mama, and Red Dragon Roll. All were great...the Spicy Tuna, used in all three rolls was good and spicy with some real flavor. We enjoyed the Red Dragon the most, probably due to the contrast in textures provided by the tempura shrimp inside. We will be back, for sure. The owners were adorable-the wife was the waitress/server, the nephew was the chef and the husband came in later. He was so friendly and even made us some cookies! One other thing to mention. The rolls here are HUGE!!! Seriously HUGE!!! All in all, excellent taste and value. Go try it! Haven't tried the sushi here...last time I was there, it wasn't on the menu, but you can bet your ass I'm gonna go check out the sushi now! I love the milk tea boba here...tea is freshly brewed on order, and that is a BIG plus, compared to the powdered mixes I have experienced everywhere else. Whack. Lion king roll tasted like ish. Clearly they know nothing of sushi or boba drinks. I specifically asked for no Unami and well done sushi, as a precautionary measure for preggers. And yet they still managed to have Unami inside the roll. Meaning they do not utilize clean technique of preventing cross contamination and using the same cutting board. My salmon was not well done. The rice they used was the most cheapest rice I've ever tasted!! The boba girl told me their drinks consisted of only syrup and slush, note the failure to mention tea and milk. I use yelp as #1 reference before eating at terrible places like this, and sadly, their sushi tasted worse than pre-made sushi in Costco. read more

i give them a four-star for their tonkatsu... It was great! Hot, juicy, and crispy on the outside. The rice was a little stiff, otherwise their whole bento-style tonkatsu was good. It's kind of pricey though... $9. But then again, I'm used to cheap japanese food coming from areas where competition was high, including prices. Here in Lemoore, this is the only place you can find that has a japanese style food. i also had their almond milk tea... it was very powdery and i had to wash it down with water. i don't think I'll get it next time. I only go here because it's in Lemoore and I live in Lemoore. For their food; sushi, katsu, what ever, it's really nothing special. Their sushi especially, they have a lot of the same rolls as Toshiko and Tokyo Station and the prices are the same. Yeah one might be a dollar cheaper here, where as another is a dollar cheaper there, but same none the less. Frankly, I'd rather go to one of the other places just because the service is faster and at least half of the time more friendly. Their boba... what can I say. Back in the day when boba first hit the scene and was super popular, my favorite boba joint had over 70 varieties, and was never shy about trying something new. I like that they at least have some of the standard flavors Like Thai Tea and Taro, but I really wish they had more creative flavors. Where's a lollicup around here? Honestly though, if their people were simply friendlier I would probably actually like this place for more than the convenience factor. Ive been here a few times to know that its not the bomb sushi. But whatever! Its okay. I have had the pleasure of drinking taro milktea boba drink. Very good. The bento boxes could be a lot better. I dont understand why the ice berg lettuce? How about a seaweed salad instead? And my teryaki chicken turned out good finally. So they have been making it better. The spicy tuna is different. Theres some pappys chili powder sprinkled on top of rolls. I dont get it. But instead I really just go for the boba drinks. So the rolls are more an after thought. I enjoy the fact that they have iced water and straws open to grab. I dont have to ask someone. And the cashiers were really nice and bought out my drinks and bento order to me, they actually handed it to me. They also give military discount. So they are awesome to honor the military. We both had the strawberry banana smoothies and they tasted fresh, juicy and natural. I would definitely go back for those. However, the bento boxes were terrible. We also both ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box with the California roll. I have ordered a lot of these from many different restaurants over the years because I love bento boxes and sadly this was the very worst I've ever had. The chicken tasted like cardboard, the teriyaki sauce was flat and flavorless and even one from the grocery store would have been better than this one. The salad was all iceberg lettuce with nothing else in it and the ginger salad dressing (which is usually one of my favorite things) was again, very flat and dull tasting. I don't usually expect too much from a California roll and I'm glad I didn't since this was also not good at all. I didn't expect greatness from this bento box, but they could have put a little bit more effort and flavor into it without much work on their end. Since there are not a lot of places that serve food like this in Lemoore, they have a great opportunity to capitalize on this and make excellent food (or at least better food) and keep people coming back, especially since the prices were a little high. I do hope the owner takes this into consideration and improves the quality of the bento boxes because I'd love to give them another try later in the future. My husband and I ordered the red dragon roll, the Long Island roll, the lion king roll, and the volcano roll. None of them were excellent. The Long Island roll was fried and all I could taste was the oil that the shrimp was fried in. The fish used on the rolls didn't taste very fresh what so ever. I've had better sushi from supermarkets honestly. We just got back from a weeks long vacation in Monterey where the first night in Monterey we had sushi (which was excellent and no where near as pricey) and I was craving to have more sushi tonight. Granted, it's the only place in a 20 minute radius that sells sushi/thai tea/boba, but still, over $25 for lunch when all you got was 2 mediocre rolls, a can of soda and a thai iced tea is a little high. I guess I'd do the same thing if I was the owner, though. Service was friendly enough, but the daughter of the woman working made a remark to my husband and if it were any other man, they would've gotten mad, luckily my husband isn't one for getting embarrassed easily. This cute little hole in the wall is directly in front of Lemoore's movie theatre (literally 10 ft away) so my husband and I watched a movie walked to have dinner then walked back for another movie. It was perfect! The volcano and Long Island (I think that was the name) rolls were delicious. My husband ordered boba tea and it was not good. The boba balls were warm and the whole place was extremely hot. We were pretty concerned that our raw sushi wasn't stored at the proper temperature. Fortunately we didn't get sick! Amazing sushi! My husband and I have been there 3 times in the past two weeks. It is so great to finally have a decent sushi place in the Hanford/Lemoore area! Our favorites so far: 1. Red Dragon Roll: Shrimp Tempura and Crab inside, spicy tuna outside. So good! Their spicy tuna is some of the best I've had, and that is one of my favorite parts of sushi rolls. Tempura was made fresh and crispy. Crab mix was soooo yummy. 2. Spicy California roll: crab mix was fresh and just the right amount of spiciness Also tried the Philadelphia roll and Shrimp Tempura roll, also EXCELLENT! I am a sushi fanatic and have been to probably 10+ places in the Fresno/Hanford/Visalia area. This is one of the best, although very simple. Their rolls are simple with only a few key ingredients and avocado and cucumber, but so fresh and delicious. And BIG too. And CHEAP! My husband and I got three rolls, two sodas, and spent under $20. This is my to-go boba AND sushi spot in Lemoore whenever I visit. I was SOOOO glad that there was even a boba shop here in the first place. Being Asian and from LA where there's plentiful boba spots, I gots to have me bobaaaa! Their slush and boba are always good. The only downfall is the slush tends to get watery quick when you let it sit. Preferably, I like my slush be slushy till the very last drop. I've tried their Iced Milk Tea and Iced Honeydew once. Both times, the drink tasted too powdery so stick with their slush and smoothies.. unless you are a brave soul haha. The sushi here is pretty good too. BUT sometimes the sushi falls apart after picking up with my chopsticks. My favs are the Lion King, Spicy Salmon Tempura, Dragon rolls, Philadelphia... basically I like everything. It depends what I'm craving for. They aren't overly priced being like.. the only boba shop in town. Drinks are about $4 (regular size) and sushi average $8-$10 depending on what you want. I think their cheapest sushi roll (probably 2 pieces) is about $4. The regular portion of a sushi roll is 8 pieces which is enough to keep you satisfied probably for lunch. But for dinner, I'd say 2 rolls will keep your tummy happy. The girls working at the register are always polite. If you want fast service, I recommend going on a regular week day rather than weekend. You know how it is, especially being right across from the theater. read more
