They have a great gift shop that also has desserts, candy & coffees to go. This was one of the best steaks I ever had. We came to celebrate my birthday, with reservations & got seated a full half hour after we had reservations set for. Yes, she told us it would be a minute. This almost felt....intentional? I'd hate to think that it was & racism came into play, with us being a mixed couple, but I honestly cannot think of anything else. The room went from packed to empty with more people coming in from outside & we still weren't seated. When we finally did get seated, our server, Isaiah was amazing. He answered all our questions & had great recommendations. As I've already said, this was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Every bite of the filet mignon was delicious & I got it with the scalloped potatoes to accompany. My boyfriend got the prime rib & loaded potato. He loved it. At the end they brought me out a piece of chocolate mousse cake which was amazing. I made my boyfriend sing happy birthday to me. This place is so completely adorable. The restaurant is pretty huge and they no longer have mountain oysters aka bull balls, which I was told by my brother are very delicious. Restroom is very clean, customer service is outstanding, menu is small, but they have plenty to choose from. I ordered pretty basic, vegetables and potatoes are some of the best I've ever had. The ribeye was a solid 7 out of 10, I have had better. Clam chowder lacks a tad of flavor but texture and goodies are totally there. Whiskey sour as always because it's my favorite drink was really good. I've been stopping at Harris Ranch for over 25 years. But last month was my first time ever dining at the Prime Steakhouse. All my thoughts of "I wonder what's it like to dine there" were answered. The look and vibe is a bit elevated along with the prices. The interior has big comfy modern booth seating with linen tablecloths. The booths are spread apart to have enough audio privacy. The ambiance was more intimate. The menu is compact with a lot less fewer options and differing items from the Ranch restaurant. The Prime Steakhouse is tucked between the bar and Ranch restaurant. It's a separate room from the other areas with its own entrance. My party of five adults fit in the semicircular booth. We made it work but it was a cozy fit. The service was top notch. A complimentary small round loaf of warm bread and whipped butter was quickly brought out to the table. Yum. The Ranch restaurant provides complimentary bread rolls. So it was nice that the steakhouse offered a different type of bread. I ordered the pesto Australian rack of lamb chops $38. The Hubs ordered a smoked brisket hamburger $30 and an order of chopped wedge salad $9. The wedge comes in the traditional style or chopped. The two lamb chops were panko crusted and topped with pesto and came with broccoli, carrots, and a baked potato. The chops were tasty but the flavors together didn't wow me. I'm old fashion, I would have preferred just plain ole chops without the breading and pesto. The burger is priced higher at the steakhouse versus the Ranch restaurant. I always stop here when driving down Hwy 5 but I have never gone into the restaurant only the quick BBQ at the gas station. All I need to say is WOW! The rib eye steak is OUTSTANDING! The service was a little slow it wasn't busy and we came about an hour before closing. The decor is dark and drab and the carpet is just gross but I get the decor. It can still be the same without the carpet. My biggest complaint is why the heck they don't carry any Paso Robles white wines?!?! They're literally 1 1/2 hr from there. This was extremely disappointing. I settled for a paso red wine which was eh because I'm not a red wine person but when I'm near a wine country area I always try to support the local or regional wineries. Come on Harris Ranch do better with this part... support local and serve wines from nearby wineries. Our server though made up for it! The service once he was able to get to us was AMAZING! We had reservations for 5pm,and we were amazed at the crowd of people waiting for the restaurant to open. We were promptly seated in a very comfortable dining room. No tables were right beside us, giving us pleasant privacy and quiet. The decor of wood and green-painted walls was beautiful, too. I told our server from the start that I didn't want to order an appetizer because I was saving room for the bread pudding for dessert. We were soon brought a basket with hot rolls and butter. Wow, were these rolls good, very soft. I enjoyed a La Dama Rosa cocktail while my husband had a Harris Ranch IPA. The entree servings were generous. My husband had the prime ribeye with steak fries. He found it good, but not extraordinary. I had the mushroom risotto. I was immediately surprised that there weren't a lot of mushroom, and what was there was diced. There was no way to tell what mushroom was what. The picture shows most of the mushrooms that were in the dish, though I dug around to find a few hidden ones. The overall flavor was good, the Parmesan nicely evident, but the texture didn't vary a lot because of the mushroom size. It was also a heavy dish because it was mostly rice. When the server returned and was surprised I did not want to take the abundant leftovers, I explained that there hadn't been a lot of mushrooms, so there was none left in the rice. I didn't expect her to return to say my dish would be comped 50%, or for the manager to come by and apologize, going on to give us a free dessert as well. I was a little embarrassed and taken off guard; my dish had still been tasty, after all--not ideal but not bad, either. I am left with a profound gratitude for their extraordinary customer service. We ended the meal with the much anticipated almond bourbon bread pudding. I can say without hesitation that it was one of the best bread puddings I have ever had, loaded with layers of sliced almonds and perfectly soft and chewy bread chunks. The bourbon adds a distinct cleanness to the dish. I don't know if they make their own ice cream, but the single scoop was luscious. Vanilla bean flecked every bite, and the texture was light as if it had been whipped. I would say that if you love bread pudding, it is worth coming here for that alone. They do change the menu every so often, though, so check to see if this kind is still available, though I imagine their other variations are extraordinary, too. When you take into account value, I think it's on the pricey side. On the bright side, you won't be leaving hungry because their portions are generous. Hubby brought me to stay at the Harris Resort for three nights for our anniversary to relax. So they made reservations for us for Saturday 6pm very nice. Let me say our waiter Isaiah was awesome! He was very attentive friendly has a funny bone lol & was very helpful with the dishes. I had salmon with Cabernet & hubby had steak. Then he has an espresso coffee or something was really good. They also gave us a complimentary slice of cake & put happy anniversary on it was so nice. Made us feel so welcomed too. The ambiance is always nice. If we go in the winter I'd like to maybe sit by the fireplace looks so comfy on a nice cold day. Sorry if I didn't get all the foods right but I do have pics! We will be returning! read more

It's a unique place, great for taking pictures, especially in winter with the festive decorations. However, my husband and I have had much better steaks, soups, and especially salmon elsewhere, so it's worth visiting more for the atmosphere than the food. The customer service was disappointing. Even though it wasn't busy and we went during a quiet time, our requests were often forgotten, and the staff didn't seem very attentive. I've been coming to Harris ranch for over two decades; basically, anytime I drive up or down the 5. This isn't to deter anyone from coming here (it's still the best stop on the 5)- but rather to send a message to whatever new management seems to be determined to degrade the experience. Extensive menu has been reduced to a single page with many great items now cut out of it (cowboy cut steak, etc)- ive attached a photo of the breakfast and dinner one-pager menus. We were asking about items missing, and right afterwards the table behind us got seated and were also asking about missing favorites. I have a vision of some management meeting where the term "streamline the menu" was proferred and foolishly accepted. We had to wait a long time to be seated at 9pm with tons of open tables and little traffic. Then, once seated, I had to eventually ask for a server, not once but twice, to finally get someone to swing by. Again, two subsequentt tables got seated and went through the same predicament. Lots of staff seen hiding from customers over by the bar area chatting and hanging out. I've never had bad service here, so this was a big shock. They got the soup wrong, tried to serve us a "salad" that was literally just lettuce (we had to ask for all the veggies that were missing - see photo I've attached). Despite several promises to refill my drink, I had to go to the bar and just tip the bartender to refill it instead. I had to do the same for a top to a to-go container as well when it continually failed to materialize. Burger and steak were great, so this isn't a food issue per say, its an issue of extremely poor management both of floor staff and probably kitchen staff that has resulted in a ton of laziness amongst both. If im going to spend over $200 for dinner for 2 (no alcohol), I need better than this. To anyone from Harris reading this, don't let management tell you they are doing a good job. They are actively ruining the incredible reputation this place has earned over decades. I'll do the same with this one-star review, but I'll adjust it back once I drive back along the 5 and see things have improved. You can do this, Harris Ranch, I believe in you. read more

Stopped by for a recharge and dinner before hopping back on the road, this was actually my first time at Harris ranch despite hearing about it so much. We sat at the bar dining area instead of the back restaurant, we arrived around 6:30pm and only had to wait about 10 minutes and got seated. This area had live music and the bar had a good amount of people, music does get abit loud but it's lively if you don't mind the level of sound in this area. We ordered a few things to share, prime rib was soft and paired with fried potatos and fresh vegetables. Rib eye was ordered with soup and some more fresh veggie, steak was nicely cooked at medium rare, super tasty love it! We also ordered another entree of the mushroom to share, decent portion. I've driven by this place so many times, and so many times, I've told myself I would try it one day. That one day happened and I wish that those so many times of me telling myself I'd visit were actual visits. A huge part of why I like this place is their complimentary bread. It's your classic dinner roll with bits of cheddar cheese in them. Savory at it's finest and very addicting. You don't even need butter with it. I swear I could eat like 10 of these easily. Harris Ranch Hickory & Brown Sugar Rub elevates this place from other steakhouses imo. Honestly, I forgot what cut of meat I got LOL but I definitely remember enjoying it with their specialty rub. The meat was also cooked just the way I like it! The service here was great! We came in towards the end of the day closer to closing and I could tell the staff was tired but they kept their professionalism and friendly demeanor so kudos to them! We asked for extra bread to take home and they gave me enough and some. DEFINITELY APPRECIATED! Don't let this place be another place you never try and just drive by! Serving cheap frozen bread and calling yourself a fine dining restaurant? Is this place a joke? The two girls who greeted us at the entrance gave a pretty unconvincing explanation when I asked what makes this steakhouse different. Apparently one dining room is adults-only, another is "fine dining," and the third is basically the same as the first but for families too. If you've never been to a fine dining restaurant before, maybe that sounds impressive. The welcome itself felt fake and insincere. Even though half the restaurant was empty, we were seated right behind the host stand in the middle of all the noise and foot traffic. Between the two girls at the front chatting, servers yelling across the room, and managers standing around the entrance desk carrying on conversations, the atmosphere felt more like a busy diner than anything resembling fine dining. Service was painfully slow. The only positive was our server, who was polite, knew the menu well, and did their job properly. Please do yourself a favor and do not order the lamb chops. I'm not upset that an animal died for this dish, but I'm pretty sure it would be upset seeing what it became. If there's a crime here, it's keeping that plate on the menu. You don't need to travel the world to know it's bad. Spend five minutes looking at lamb chop recipes online and you'll still have a hard time making something worse. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. The flavor, texture, and temperature were spot on. Honestly, they'd be better off serving steak and throwing half the menu away. I won't be spending my time, money, or patience here again. If you're considering going, I'd suggest driving another 20 minutes and eating somewhere else. The Prime Ribeye was the best I've had in many months. And this is after visiting many steakhouses in and around the SF area. It was full of beef flavor, juicy, tender and perfectly seasoned which is to say it had the minimal amount of salt, pepper and butter. That steak was delicious. The salad was fresh and the vinaigrette packed a punch and brought the pistachios and greens to life. The greens didn't have much flavor otherwise. The baked potato and the boiled carrots and broccoli were shameful. If you operate the best steakhouse in a 150 mile radius, teach your line cooks to send out your steaks with something worth interspersing your mouthfuls of beef with. Took my mother in law to a nice dinner for her birthday. Ambiance was nice and the experience for customers can be improved. I write this with the intentions and hopes that this review will help the idea and consideration of changing their practices. Harris Ranch is a gem in the middle of what feels like nowhere, so it could be a place that is sought after as people are passing through. Intentions are good but this steakhouse will need a reset. We started our night out with an Indian style naan bread with a tomato based sauce. This was a total miss and mismatch to a steakhouse, a simple bread basket would be smart. Our appetizer was the calamari. The calamari was decent but and set in top of a oily set of greens. The calamari was oddly paired with a BBQ sauce, to me super odd. I always grab calamari whenever possible and it has never been paired with BBQ sauce. However this sauce wasn't bad in taste and it could be offered for a steak sauce option. The salad came out and it appeared this was already prepped way in advance and not to order. The beets were stuck to the bottom plate and the dressing was a bit dried up on top. I couldn't enjoy it because I could not get over the strange texture and to be honest, salads are hard to mess up. My salmon was glazed with a honey like sweetness on top of a carrot puree. The only miss on this meal was a pickled radish that was placed on top of the salmon. It went from a delightful sweet and savory taste to eerrrr...pickled flavor. No go on this, do not pass go, do not collect $200. This is a real mismatch to the sweet and savory salmon plate. My mother in law had the chicken plate. The presentation consideration, please refrain from a bone sticking out. I couldn't help but laugh at this. It's a bit awkward. Overall we had a great time because of our company and making the best out of our experience. I would say the price wasn't worth what we receive. Service was with well intentions, but have these team visit other steakhouse. I honestly get the best service at the bakery/mini store than the steakhouse. I would swap the teams. The bakery/store shop folks have way better customer service and would be a better fit for an enjoyable dinner experience. For us, this experience was more of a miss than a hit. When you get over the smell of cattle..... This place was a little old school, but charming. We came on a Saturday night around 8:30. We made reservations for two, although it wasn't necessary. Everyone who works here is incredibly nice and hospitable. Special shoutout to Ramon and Diego! We shared the Caesar salad as an app and nom'd on some of the incredibly soft and fresh bread rolls. They were so good, we asked for a second helping. My boyfriend got the ribeye and I got the prime rib. VERY generous portions. We both only ate half. While the prime rib was delicious, especially with the au jus and horseradish cream sauce, I personally preferred the ribeye because of how tender the meat was. I've always passed this place heading up to SF but today I stopped by to give it a go. I decided to order the ribeye and I have to say I was disappointed with my order. Originally I was going to order the ribeye dip but the waitress stated I'd be happier with the ribeye steak so I ordered it. It was twice as much as the ribeye dip which was $30 something and the dips meat was cooked medium well. I asked for my ribeye to be cooked medium rare and she assured me it would be but sure enough it was cooked medium well. It wasn't well seasoned so it didn't have the best taste. The veggies had no seasoning and undercooked. The steak fries were okay but I really wanted to like my steak because they gave their own ranch and it's been around for such a long time that I would think it would be the bomb steakhouse. Like most visitors to Harris Ranch, we happened to be traveling up the I-5 and curiosity got the best of us. Parking was ample and the sun was blazing hot when we pulled in around 3 PM. We made a beeline for the steakhouse counter in the back of the restaurant and ordered a ribeye to go, medium rare for around $60. Hostess was very welcoming and 20 minutes later, we had a piping hot paper bag in front of us. Steak came with mashed potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob, and two rolls with butter. All the sides were up to par. Steak had some nice grill marks and wasn't overcooked, but I might just be more of a crust kind of guy because I was satisfied but not super impressed. Overall good spot to try if you haven't, but I think I might be more accustomed to making my own. read more

A $30 hamburger? $18 palomas? The prices across the board are ridiculously steep. Even the harris ranch beef is almost double the price I get it at nob hill. I will come stay again as the resort is great. The pool is amazing. But we will bring our own food or split plates. The food pricing is way iut if touch not just with this area but most of california. Maybe in line with vegas id say. Pretty close. Heading back south from a NorCal visit and I wanted the family to experience the Harris Ranch quality of beef. We are a family of steak lovers. It's been a very long time since I have been here, so I thought it would be a nice treat for the family to try it. We made reservations for the Prime Steakhouse Restaurant. We arrived early but they accommodated us and sat us anyway. From beginning to end the service was excellent. Our server Yair and his assistant Gustavo were a great pair. From being served our dinner rolls and started off with water all around, our glasses were never empty. Gustavo consistently checking on our glasses, as well as any other needs. Yair was very accommodating as my son has nut allergies and he made sure to inquire with the kitchen as well as to advise them of the allergies. Yair made wonderful suggestions and recommendations. The quality of everything we ordered and the taste were all as expected. The ribeyes are very tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection per our preferred doneness. There are different versions of Harris Ranch food options with a more basic fast food-ish BBQ, but my partner said we always drive past the steakhouse's exit, do there we stopped. It was mid afternoon on a Friday and not crowded at all when we arrived, but traffic appeared to pick up while we were there. The staff was nice and efficient. The decor is older steakhouse-style I guess with lots of brown wood. The food was not perfect due to our steak being slightly over seasoned in a spot. I've driven past this place numerous times and never stopped in until the other day. It's a restaurant inside of the resort. It's in the back towards the right. I gave them my name and they were ready to seat us like 5 minutes later. It looked like there was a lot of seating but it was pretty packed. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. I started with a Blackberry Mule. It was pretty tasty. I decided on the Tri-Tip sandwich and my fiancé went with the Rib-Eye Burger (the pic I took wasn't very good as you'll see). My sandwich was good. It was packed full of meat and the Parmesan gave it that extra touch. My only issue was there wasn't very much sauce on it. The horseradish I believe. The fries were nice and crispy. My fiancés burger was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and the bbq bacon jam sauce was really good!! Not sure when I'll be out that way again but I'll definitely be stopping here again. read more
