I always travel to Portland for matcha ice cream so I was excited to find out that Boba Tree had it. Stopped in to try it with my husband on a week day and it was pretty empty. Service was good and friendly. We ordered the matcha vanilla swirl and some Ube Viet coffee. The ice cream was okay. The matcha was very light so I couldn't taste it as well like other matcha ice creams. The Ube coffee was good, but not something I'm in a hurry to order again. read more

Let me tell you the excitement my bf & I had the day we went to the gym & saw the boba tree sign 2 shops down! We eagerly waited & slowly saw everything come together. Then finally they opened! We went on opening day & of course there was a line out the door! But they moved through it quickly. We got the taro & sweet cream soft serve, taro berry smoothie with egg pudding & strawberry mango smoothie with boba. I guess the soft serve machine was working hard that day, so there was a wait, but no big deal. The drinks were really good, you could tell it was made with real fruits. Our soft serve ended up being all taro, but it was Nice & creamy perfect texture. We loved it so much, we went back 2 days later. This time we got coconut with egg pudding & orange sunset with boba. I thought the orange one would be more tart & fruity, but it was more creamy like coconut. I still liked it though. Both our drinks tasted kinda similar, mine just had a orange flavor. The matcha (green) tea and vanilla cream swirl was YUMMY! Quite unique too in a purple cone. I look forward to coming back next week to try the taro and vanilla swirl cone. I'm originally from Hawaii, so I was used to being able to buy taro ice cream at many places there. I'm also Filipina-American, so I love ube too (purple sweet potato from the Philippines). They don't have ube ice cream here. So taro is the closest taste to ube. Maybe they'll have an ube swirl someday in the future. And if not, matcha is yummy too. I think I'll try their mango smoothie too. SO many choices! The service is good. The lady that served us (four of us went) was really nice. The ambiance is a little plain. But that's okay. Pretty good quality tea. When you can taste the tea flavor you know the place used good tea quality. Drinks are on the sweeter side so even a 50% sweet level was a little sweet for me. The banana series was pretty good my husband loved it. We got the brown sugar for our friend and he loved it as well. Matcha mooncakes were good, perfect sweet level of the mung bean filling. Only surprise thing for me is i ordered a jasmine milktea but it came out looking like a jasmine iced tea. Then i thought maybe i ordered it wrong? And it was a bit sweet so i ordered a new oolong milktea. It came out as an iced tea , just like the jasmine iced tea. Not sure if we have to request adding milk when ordering? But i haven't experienced ordering a milktea drink looking like iced tea before. I had this delivered and it came packaged so nicely! I got two kinds because I had to sample different flavors. I got the honeydew with mango popping and strawberry jellies and the banana milk with salted cream and strawberries. So delicious! I could not believe banana milk could taste so amazing! I don't recommend getting the strawberries in it though bc they are too big to fit in the straw and I think they are frozen. Highly recommend this place! read more

Omg best soft serve I've ever had this whole summer!! So far I got their Vanilla flavor, Matcha, Jasmine (my favorite), and Strawberry! BUT they change their flavor every week (I think) since every time I come in there's new soft serve flavor. I haven't tried their boba yet but I can't wait to try it! I stopped by the Boba Tree location in Salmon Creek for the first time today. I was on a specific quest to try the Matcha soft serve. And I was not disappointed in the least. It was delicious and very fresh tasting. I have been to several soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt places and I often wonder how often they clean the machines. No worries here, as the whole place is spotless. The person who served me was pleasant and helpful. Next time I want to try the matcha with vanilla creme mix.
