Honestly, deciding was tough because everything looked delicious. As a California native, I've tried countless boba spots, and I'd rank Bobae above the best places back home! I'm so glad I took the cashier's recommendation, because the "Red, White, and Matcha" blew me away. I have come here a handful of times and so far. Their matcha and their nitro tea is very impressive and good. Their setting is clean, but like most cafés not a lot of places to sit, so i am always taking it to go. I would have to say this is one of the best places to get this type of drink near the sky valley area. For service, I get mixed experiences so far. I would say 50% of the time I feel welcomed and the other 50 i have not. I do put in consideration each person has their day and also they may have had a busy time where customer support is needing quantity or quality in the moment. read more

You know the problem with being Taiwanese? You become some what of a boba tea snob. Because after the OG. you can't really un-drink it. It's like winning the lotto. Once you win it. It's hard not to win it. I like strong tea flavor in my boba. Not sure if that's because its the way most boba in Taiwan is served or maybe it's a personal preference? This shop is more flavor than tea and it wasn't the best boba tea place I've ever had. The tea was a bit weak-i got the oolong milk tea. Maybe they were off that day. I've been to Bobae several times and every time I've found their drinks to be delicious! I don't really think the nitro tea is anything special though? I've had nitro coffee and the nitrogen gas gives it a really creamy mouthfeel and you can feel it being thicker, but the nitro tea here is not really noticeably different from normal tea. Anyways, while I like their normal menu line up, one thing that keeps me coming back is their flavor of the month specials. Basically, it's a rotating menu of about four different drinks that are unique to that month. When I went, it was pandan. I got the pandan milk tea with boba, light ice, and it came with a cheesecap. I couldn't really taste the tea (I suspect this was just a pandan milk drink, since they had a black pandan drink), but the drink was very good otherwise. Going to a bubble tea shop past 6 PM doesn't sound the most ideal but we happened to be in the area so we swung by. The close time is at 8 PM according to maps but by the time we arrived it looked like they were already cleaning up. They took out the remaining dessert items from the case as we were still checking out the menu so I didn't have the chance to view what they had. Since it was late, we ordered the Brown Sugar Boba and the hot Thai Tea (yes that does have caffeine but caffeine don't do much to me). They make all their tea in house and they are the first to put nitrogen in their teas. I got it at 75% sugar and I swear I can taste the leaves. Doesn't taste like Thai powder at all. The brown sugar boba is also super nice if you're someone who appreciates the taste of toasted brown sugar. There were only 2 other patrons in the store so it was fairly quiet but we also just grabbed our drinks and left. Their black sesame paste is made in store so next time I would love to try that or their ube menu items or just all their cheesecake ones! read more

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #87 Time for an updated review after my most recent visit: Iron Goddess Oolong Milk Tea, Iced Bae Size, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($8) - In my last review, I commented that this drink was exceptionally fragrant and aromatic, sweet with small flowery notes in the background. This time? A totally different flavor. More of a clove and cinnamon flavor with caramel-like undertones. Iron Goddess/Tie Guan Ying does not have this flavor profile, so I think they royally screwed something up. I wonder if they accidentally brewed a Ceylon instead. While not the correct tea, it has strong flavor, rich texture, and the sweetness is nice at half, so I really can't complain. One major issue cropped up on this visit - for some reason they only filled the liquid level to about an inch under the rim. I asked the bobarista about this and she stated that for less ice, they give less drink. Very bizarre answer considering that the liquid level had never been this low in any of my previous visits, not to mention that the other drink we got, also at half ice, was filled to the top... Right after I sat down, the bobarista called out my name and offered to fill the cup with more tea, so I guess she thought twice about it. At least they are consistent with the boba - it remains stellarly chewy and bouncy, with a fantastic sweetness level and texture. Milk Tea Rating: 5/5 (not the correct tea, but the tea they did use is great) Boba Rating: 5/5 Bobaejicha Milk Tea, Iced Bae Size, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($8) - The description labels this as a "hand-whisked" tea. Weird, I drink a lot of hojicha at home and had no idea it was sold in powdered form. Seems like a way to artificially increase labor and cost without much benefit in my opinion. Anyways, this drink is way too sweet. I don't understand how there can be such a huge difference in sweetness between this drink the Iron Goddess, given the exact same modifications. The sweetness level is almost cloying and totally overpowers the tea. It mostly tastes like corn, with only the barest hint of roasted grassiness if I concentrate on the retronasal aromas. I think they could improve the drink if they just brewed a strong loose leaf hojicha instead of going the fancy route. Milk Tea Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 I still consider Bobae to serve some of the higher quality drinks around Seattle, but their consistency definitely has some issues. They haven't been able to jump into my top 5 boba shops due to them. read more

I came to this location yesterday for a team event-- I think I'd never gone to a Bobae location, though I think we've ordered for the office previously. The team event was making boba and learning about the company. Karma was so friendly and welcoming and informative and she is clearly passionate about her job and work! :D Joshie was our instructor for making the boba (previously history in pastry making?) and he was also clear with instructions and patient when visiting tables. We also met Joey who helped with us signing in, but admittedly he was a little more preoccupied with their kid haha (who according to Karma was also very familiar with rolling boba!) The event was great! We actually had a couple no-shows and I was tempted to ask if I could make a second batch to start with, but they were SO generous with the amount of tapioca that I got sick of rolling my own boba before finishing, so I'm glad I didn't actually do that second batch... All the boba pearls we rolled we got to take home to make later, and we got a fresh cook batch to make into a tea. I tried the butterfly pea lemonade and it was delicious, but I was in a green tea mood and tried their Nitro Jasmine instead. WOW their tea is *strong*. I think if you're sensitive to caffeine.. maybe don't get this too late in the day haha. I am also typically a less-sugar-no-milk person, but for this one I did personally need a little more sugar, and even just a splash of oat milk helped a lot with the perceived strength. I ended up buying their kit to make more tea at home, and I'm excited to try their Bae (Earl Grey) tea (Joshie's favorite) and rose teas at home! The milk tea doesn't stand out and the other specialty drinks are much more expensive for what they really are. There may be a few winners on the menu, but overall it just doesn't seem worth it to me. My last time at this location, the employees were understaffed and took a long time to get through the line. This review is strictly on their pastries, no drinks were ordered. This place recently has a line up of new pastries so I was pretty excited to try it as it is there daily unlike their popular donuts. The pastries are made fresh everyday and delivered to their store. Overall, the pastries was definitely delicious but on the pricier end in my opinion: - regular croissant ($6) a good size croissant, lamination needs a bit of work. I do like the subtle hint of crispy sugar on top - chocolate croissant ($6.5) similar to the regular croissant but with Chocolate inside, the chocolate isn't overpowering either but I did wish there was a bit more otherwise it taste just like a regular croissant -kouign aman - ($6) nice crunchy exterior and subtle sugar top. Inside is a little chewy but one of our favorite pastries out of this collection - ube marshmallow cookies ($5.25) very ube tasting which was surprising as most places don't put that much ube flavoring in their things. Soft cookie style - salted caramel mochi brownies ($7.5) very pricey in my opinion and was probably my least favorite. Too sweet and too chocolate-y for me. The people here are pretty nice and friendly though. I definitely do want to come back to try their crochi but once the hype dies down ahaha read more

felt very welcomed when we walked in, we were greeted right away and asked if we had any questions. the employees let is know about their pasteries since they only have it every two saturdays of the month- but we passed on that. we both got the jasmine silver tip nitro with boba. the drink itself is good- a little sweet, but we did choose regular sugar so if you do not prefer sweet drinks then i would lessen the level. the boba is the only part that we didn't really enjoy as it was extremely sweet and was very soft- almost as if it were overcooked. i would definitely recommend coming here and giving it a try though! read more

Easily my favorite boba place! I almost always get a half sweet red white (strawberry) matcha latte with whole milk and boba. I've been in so many times and the boba is consistently perfectly soft, chewy ,and sweet. Their matcha is ceremonial grade from Japan and tastes amazingly earthy and rich! This review is only about my experience with Bobae at the Bellevue Farmer's Market. The staff always seemed very friendly and enthusiastic to explain the items on their menu. Nitro OG Milk Tea: I really appreciate the strong tea flavor in this drink. I was only able to modify to 50% sweet, but it was still a bit too sweet. It was a pretty good drink. Blue Matcha: I was a bit disappointed with this drink. The matcha was lovely, but since I got 50% sweet the amount of blueberry flavor was not noticeable compared to the matcha. Additionally, the blueberry pieces were too big even for the big boba straw, which led to sips with tons of blueberry bits and very little drink. Lemon Mochi Bar: Wow, delicious! I loved the lemon flavor. The mochi texture was lovely. This light dessert was not too sweet, and I could easily eat multiple in one sitting. Ube Donut: Amazing donut! The donut did not feel too oily and there was so much filling! There was only a subtle ube flavor, but I still enjoyed this donut. The drinks are interesting, but the execution is mediocre. First visit to Bobae Coffee and Tea on this sunny Sunday afternoon (11/20/22). I was exploring an alternate route to Woodinville and wanted explore at bit of this growing NE community and wine country destination. Bobae is located in Woodinville Plaza which includes other businesses such as See's, Ulta, Old Navy, Rite Aid, Home Goods and a Bank of America branch among others. There are also adjacent retail strip malls located nearby. There is limited sidewalk and interior seating, and of course, some IG worthy spots. The interior walls and decor are very pastel pink. Notable was the very welcoming and friendly gentleman, Joshua J, who took my order at the front counter. Thankfully, no hipster, standoffish attitude. I opted for a mocha ($5.15) and two Macadon macarons, matcha and passionfruit ($2.50 each). The mocha was indeed spot on with its preparation. I sat at a two top between another pair and lively table of four young women chatting. The tables turn fairly frequently, as they left, additional folks would take their places. Overhead music was chill lo-fi. A decent find during my spontaneous drive to Woodinville for beverages and sweet treats. read more

Bobae is a boba spot with locations in both Kirkland and Woodinwille. They specialize in nitro drinks which have the distinction of being natural and uplifting their teas to give a cleaner and creamier flavor. We ordered the nitro OG milk tea with 75% sweetness and the sapphire moonlight milk tea. The nitro OG milk tea felt very clean and smooth which is what their nitro is all about. The 75% sweetness level was the right amount of me especially with the sweetness of the boba. The boba was chewy and warm which implied it was fresh which was a good sign. The sapphire moonlight was topped with butterfly pea tea which gave it its signature blue color. It was very floral and lavender forward (as they mention) and both drinks were very good. Note that you can get a lot of their drinks in hot or cold depending on how you're feeling. Apparently they were one of the first (if not the first) places to have boba donuts which is interesting. I came here with my mom yesterday and had an amazing experience! I was so excited to try the nitro tea here! I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. It is a small place in a strip mall, but a nice location. They have a pretty extensive menu and so many great options! The man at the front taking our order was super friendly and helpful (especially to my mom who had never had boba tea before). The prices were fair. I got the Bae milk tea (elevated Earl grey) with half and half milk, 50% sweet, and boba. Their tea is DELICIOUS!!! The tea is so smooth, fresh, and concentrated without being bitter. The sweetness level was perfect and the boba was so fresh (I could tell it had just been made). It didn't take too long to get our drinks even though they were busy. They have some hearing impaired staff who work there, which I thought was very nice. All in all, nice location, delicious tea, fair prices, great options, and friendly staff. We ordered the Winter Berry, Chai Oat-Nog, and NITRO Bae's Milk Tea, of which Winter Berry and Chai Oat-Nog were from the December Creative Menu. The customer service was super friendly. They torched the marshmallow cloud toppings in front of us. The Winter Berry was a strawberries and cream milk tea with white chocolate - tasted exactly like what it was. I added on a marshmallow cloud toppings which was particularly good - toasty melted marshmallow consistency. The sweetness of this drink was not customizable as its sweetness solely comes from the strawberries. The Chai Oat-Nog was also good. The recommended 100% sweetness level was not too sweet at all. The chai tea flavor stood out even when paired with eggnog. The eggnog was plant based and you could make it completely egg-free by asking for no marshmallow cloud on top. The NITRO Bae's milk tea had a pleasant earl grey tea flavor. I wasn't sure how to tell if a drink is nitro. Fun fact - Bobae was the first to make nitro boba. This shop is out of the way but I want to come back again as it has so many options. read more

It was a little more milky then what I am use to but I think that's because it is in liquid form and not blended. The bobarista was so nice and helpful! One of my top bubble tea spots in WA! I would recommend placing an order ahead of time as it can get pretty busy. Great customer service and their bubble tea is always consistent. My go to is their strawberry matcha, Nitro OG milk tea which is similar tasting to a Hong Kong milk tea, and Hojicha. I like that they have different milk alternatives for those who have sensitivity to dairy and that all their drinks are made with fresh tea. You can definitely taste the quality. Keep a lookout for their monthly creative menu and boba donuts. I haven't had their donuts myself but I know that they are very popular and look delicious! I had asked for 25% sugar, and glad I did because anything more would have been very sweet. The butterfly lavender lemonade was a mix of tart with a mild sweet flavor, good balance.
