Pricing starts at $15 for small and medium piggy banks, and there are so many character options to choose from including Avengers, Disney Castle, Stitch, Labubu, Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and more. Paint and paintbrushes are provided, so it's easy to just show up and get creative. We also loved the drinks we tried while painting: Passionfruit Green Tea with Rainbow Jelly and Kumquat Winter Melon Tea with White Pearls. We took a snack break and shared the Lotus Biscoff Croffle, which was crispy and buttery, topped with fresh cream, lotus biscoff butter, and cookie crumbs. It was the perfect treat during the experience. What we loved: -Cute, affordable activity -Great selection of characters -Easy setup with supplies included -A fun option for a girls' day, date night, or weekend outing. Something to consider: The paint comes out in pump dispensers, and some characters require much more white paint than others. At the moment, there doesn't seem to be an option to get additional paint if you run out, so plan your design accordingly or start with white first. My go to is typically a Taro Smoothie with either boba or some form of popping boba. The liquid was consistent and didn't seem runny or have large chunks coming through the straw. Each time I come here, my drink is finely blended and has just the right amount of sweetness (I typically do a 50% when possible). The Taro flavor itself hits the spot, but i don't necessarily crave their Taro Smoothies like I would at some other shops. I've been to BoBaPoP twice now but I wanted to try out something that wasn't curated for me to try out. Inside there's enough tables to sit down to enjoy your drink. The counter has a vast menu that caters to what you normally see at other chains. I got the Ali Mountain Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly with 50% Sugar/Ice. It was just the perfect amount of sweetness though I think I could have used less ice. Excellent teas! I've stopped in a couple times to try different teas. I dropped by one evening after work to grab a pick me up, and I really enjoyed the Peach Green Tea that I ordered. It was ordered with 50% sweetness and light ice. I came in another time to grab some teas for my parents to try. I ordered the: Raspberry Tea, Sunrise Tea, Taro Milk Tea, Winter Melon Fruit Tea and [another] Peach Green Tea. All were at 50% sweetness with no ice. My parents loved the Taro Milk Tea and the Sunrise Tea. They liked the other ones as well, but just preferred the two. The same employee took my order the two times I was there. Since I first wrote this review, I've been to a butt ton of other boba places in the DMV and even went on vacation to the OG of all things boba (Taiwan, the country that invented it). BobaPop's quality just isn't as good, sorry to say. It's def not bad, just the other places I've been to have better boba drinks. I still like the wider variety of teas they have, I don't think anyone else carries "four seasons" for example. Most Americans don't even know that there's different types of tea, and the ones who DO know, probably just know green, black, and maybe the herbal stuff stocked at giant. So if trying new, uncommon types of tea in your boba drink is your thing, outside of a specialty tea house, I still recommend this place. Bobapop's teas themselves are pretty good, but people come here for the "mixed drinks", so to speak, not just a hot cup of tea. And that's where they're not as good. Many, not all, of the syrups have an "artificial Kool Aid" flavor. All this stuff has artificial flavors of course, but i don't mean chemicals, I mean you know how you can tell the diff between the "KoolAid version" of grape flavor and the "Welch's grape juice version" of grape flavor? Like that. Personally, I prefer the second over the first. They also seem to be a lot more reliant on syrups in most of their drinks than other places that use real fruit in at least a few of their drinks. So I would give them around a 3.5. I've only been here 2 times and both times they were pretty good. I wouldn't say that this is my favorite milk tea spot but I would definitely go back again to try something different. I can't remember what I got the first time but it was soo good, this second time, I asked the cashier for her recommendation and she recommended the "Darling" "Oolong" or "Thai" - I opted for Darling because on the scale, Oolong was considered the strongest tea, and Darling is the second to strongest. I ordered a medium to test it out, with 75% sugar and less ice. I would definitely recommend keeping the ice at 100% because the tea was still hot when they poured my drink and it melted my ice almost immediately. The tea wasn't as strong as I expected it to be, but it was still very good. I got their honey boba and it gave the milk tea just the right amount of sweetness. Tldr: Be careful to check for bugs in the drinks. I love the lychee oolong tea (0% sweetness! Bc its still v sweet) from bobapop and I come here maybe once or twice a week during my lunch break. Today, as I was taking my first sip from my drink, I saw a small black thing floating around my drink from the corner of my eye. At first I thought maybe it was some tea leaves, but on closer examination I saw that it was a small spider... I was disgusted esp bc I already drank some of the drink... good thing I saw the spider swirling around in my drink before I drank more because I probably would have ended up eating it which is so gross. I'm not sure when the spider ended up in the drink, but I wished the worker making my drink had been more careful because I feel like he should've been able to see the spider especially since I got a fruit tea which is clear. When I showed the worker my full drink with the spider in it, they looked unfazed and j took my drink and made me a new one- no apologies or anything for the spider or the inconvenience.
