Ba Le is a spot i've been going to for years now and since I was a kid so I've seen the store go through all their changes from when they used to serve fresh hot meals for dine in to now. My review is solely for the banh mi itself. Their banh mi has improved from how I remember. I ordered the banh mi dac biet combination to eat for the day and meatball to enjoy the next day. Sandwiches are loaded. I asked for veggies on the side and they gave me plenty. When assembled, the sandwich looks fantastic. Bread was still crisp when I brought it home (issue with some other banh mi spots). As for my sandwich saved for the next day, the extra oven toast made the sandwich taste even better. I know many will choose popular competitors but I want to put it out there that their sandwiches have improved here and you might like it trying it again.

Unfortunately most of my photos did not save properly, but I still have a photo of the Che! I first tried Ba Le in Boston around 2019 and it was my all time favorite banh mi spot. The flavor has always been consistent and fresh. In this location the banh mi is just as good. This location also had the pork buns which were VERY good. I highly reccomend them. I bought one, and after eating it, I bought 2 more super flakey and flavorful. Summer rolls were really tasty as well and love the snack and dessert options available like the shrimp rice cake. I highly reccomend this place

My new favorite go-to spot for authentic and delicious banh mi! The bread is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside...just as it should be. The ingredients were fresh and the combination of pickled veggies, flavorful meats, and house-made pâté was tasty and delicious! There are many prepared items ready for grab-and-go if you are in a rush. The place is very clean and the service was fast and friendly. Parking was readily available as it is shared with the surrounding businesses within the center. We will be back! Enjoy!

I used to visit this place frequently as a teenager and young adult for their affordable, filling banh mi sandwiches. They were reasonably priced, often with a promo like "buy 5, get 1 free," and one sandwich was more than enough to fill me up. Wanting to relive that nostalgic feeling, I recently stopped by again. As I was ordering, I noticed the prices had gone up, which I figured was understandable given the rise in food prices and inflation. However, I was expecting the same quality and size that I remembered. For the six sandwiches, including the free one, the total came to $56.02. Unfortunately, when I got home, I was really disappointed. First, the vegetables (pickled cabbage, jalapeños, cilantro, and cucumbers) were included inside the sandwiches, whereas in the past, they were placed in a separate plastic bag to avoid sogginess and preserve the freshness of the sandwich. Including the toppings inside made the sandwich soggy, and on top of that, the size of the sandwiches was drastically smaller. They were incredibly thin--literally the width of two fingers (and no, I don't have fat fingers). The only reason I'm not giving this review one star is that the sandwiches still tasted decent. But it's really unfortunate that they've shrunk the sandwiches so much while charging premium prices. I'm highly disappointed and won't be coming back.

This small Vietnamese establishment offers freshly made banh mi sandwiches, baked goods like pork puffs, homemade Vietnamese hams, packaged snacks, beef jerkies, Vietnamese cookies, bubble teas, and an assortment of other snacks and beverages.

It's been more than 5 years since I last dropped by Ba Le. It used to be my favorite Vietnamese sandwich shop when I lived in Northern VA. I remember when they used to serve soups - the Bun Rieu, Pho, etc but I've heard they don't serve soups anymore. But lucky gif me, thanks to Amanda P. who was so gracious to buy some banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) for me when she visited Northern VA. I ordered 5 sandwiches and they give you one free! I ordered the banh mi Dac Biet (special) which has pate, head cheese, ham. The sandwiches come with cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots and radish, green peppers which you can request to have on the side. The sandwiches were delicious as I remember them.

First I was greeted by a customer while I was reading the outside sign on a pumpkin spicy latte, a customer that was leaving stopped and turned and explained it was everything and do good and if I have not, I must as they put actual pumpkin puree inside not just that pump pump stuff. So I was sold walking in. Next up was home made cookies making ice cream sandwich's by the front door. before I could even get through the line to the front, I was greeted with more baked goods, cupcakes, scones, macroons, dog biscuits - normal biscuits! So I went to town ordering a variety being asked by my lil and my inner child. While sipping on my now, pumpkin spiced latte from here, I saw actual meals being served and I missed out on ordering sandwiches from the back :( Something I will be coming back for! I did get up and order more things, like a fall inspired cookie ice cream sandwhich, all alone by itself in a sea of other flavors, I had to rescue it. And the sour macrons! When did that become a thing??? They were so good and perfect for our movie night later that day. I'm very happy to have stumbled across this find.

I got the savory pie that was stuffed with an unctuous gumbo filling made with creole spices, the holy trinity (onions, peppers, and celery), and a generous portion of chicken. The pie pastry had a perfect flaky crumb that held the filling together. A friend had their breakfast sandwich, which had a rustic and delightful tang from the inclusion of sourdough in the biscuit batter that paired well with the thick slab of egg and crispy bacon. Incredibly savory items. I'm always gravitated towards how well a cafe can do a savory menu and this exceed my expectations. Friends I came in with who got their coffee said that it was very delicious, and the baristas can make a beautiful frothy and rich matcha latte. Its both parts technical skills to pull coffee or whisk matcha and sourcing of high-quality ingredients. Drinks make up a large part of any cafe, so to do it well here in this neighborhood cafe is exceptional. The baristas are running that place like a tight ship! Tip well!

The iced Maple and sea salt matcha was delicious as well as the iced mango matcha. As they use ceremonial matcha, it is not pre-sweetened so if you love matcha without sugar, you can get it here. Although I took the order to go, if you choose to eat in, your drink is prepared in a ceramic mug. It has become the definitive home base for several of my local groups, and for good reason. The "No Agenda - Just Coffee" Crowd Since October 2025, this has been the quarterly meeting point for a group I help organize (2 entire meetings so far!). We bring together a mix of IT-centric CxOs, startup founders, innovators, govtech, thought leaders, and industry insiders. The beauty of the space is that it handles the "no structure, no rules" vibe perfectly. We show up, grab pastries, and just hang out. It's a low-key break from the grind, and the staff handles the morning rush with impressive efficiency. The Sunday Morning Tactical Post-Game Every Sunday at 6:30am, Northside serves as the rally point for our F3 The Capital workout group. We split up--ruckers head one way, runners another--and we all converge back at the shop by 7:30am. There is nothing quite like hitting the patio after a solid session for coffee, tea, and a high-quality breakfast. The Menu and My Personal "Hack" I've been significantly more health-conscious this year, so I generally keep the order lean. My go-to is a standard drip or an Americano with exactly one pump of vanilla. If you are looking for a meal, the avocado toast and poached egg sandwiches are objectively excellent. However, if you want the best thing on the menu, order the cheddar chive scone and ask them to heat it in the oven. It is a game-changer. The Vibe It has a genuine neighborhood feel. You'll see a broad spectrum of people--from tech folks on laptops to workout groups and families. It even transitions into a great bar scene in the evenings. It's consistent, high-quality, and remains my top recommendation in Falls Church.

The bear claw was large and tasty with an enjoyable cinnamon flavor and the lemon meringue croissant was unique and enjoyable as I'd never had a croissant with lemon meringue filing. They weren't cheap but they were tasty and enjoyable. I really wanted to love this place…read more My family and I chose to come here for Easter because it's dog-friendly -- which felt like the perfect combination for us. They even have a dog menu, and the patio setup is honestly beautiful. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and aesthetically on point. The staff greets you right away, and first impressions were genuinely great. We chose to sit outside on the balcony so my puppy could join us, and that space alone is worth noting -- fire pits going, cozy atmosphere, just really well done. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We ordered food for all of us, including my daughter and my puppy. My food and my puppy's food came out fairly quickly, but my daughter's meal never arrived. After waiting quite a while, I had to flag down the waiter, only to be told -- after the fact -- that they didn't even have what she ordered. At no point before that did anyone communicate this. So now she has to reorder, and we're waiting all over again while the rest of us are already eating. When her food finally arrives, there's no silverware. Just... dropped off with no thought to the fact that she actually needed utensils to eat. We also ordered lemonade, which was great -- but when the waiter offered to bring more after the issues, it never came. To try and make up for things, they brought out a dessert that looked beautiful, but when we asked what was in it (due to food sensitivities), the waiter had no idea. He eventually came back with an allergy sheet, which felt like an afterthought rather than informed service. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. Instead, the waiter told me, "I just got out of trouble -- what can I do to make this right?" That response alone was incredibly off-putting and unprofessional. We ultimately just had my daughter's meal removed from the bill and decided to move on. Even my puppy's waffles -- which was one of the things we were most excited about -- came out slightly burnt. Overall, the lack of communication, poor follow-through, and disorganized service completely overshadowed what could have been a great experience. It's disappointing because the space and concept have so much potential. Unfortunately, I can't overlook the service issues.
