My little son absolutely loved the pad thai and the mango yogurt was incredibly refreshing and tasty. I was especially touched by how sweet and playful they were with my son. Very disappointing experience today. After finishing our meal, we paid our bill and wrote "cash" on the tip line because we intended to leave the tip in cash. Before we even had the chance to do so, our waitress came back to our table with an angry and confrontational attitude and said, "Excuse me, something is wrong. You didn't give tips." We were shocked by how rude and presumptuous this was. We explained that we had written "cash" because we planned to leave a cash tip. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, she simply walked away. Tipping is something we gladly do for good service, but no customer should be approached and questioned in such an aggressive manner. The assumption that we weren't going to tip, combined with the rude attitude and lack of any apology, completely ruined what had otherwise been a pleasant meal. We asked to speak with a manager because this behavior was unacceptable. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, and this waitress's attitude was unprofessional, arrogant, and disappointing. It was such a gorgeous day out, my friend and I decided to find a lunch spot with seating outside. Unsure of what to get, we stopped at Sister Thai (can't really go wrong with Thai food...). We were sat immediately (at the time of day, I don't think wait would've been an issue for either inside or out). The server was very nice, though soft spoken. After we ordered, the food didn't take long to come out. It may be because we ordered the lunch special or folks eating lunch are strapped for time, but the appetizer and entree came out at the same time. Not a big deal, but just felt rushed. My friend ordered pad thai with beef, but it came with chicken. No big deal. We made the server aware and she apologized and said she'd swap it if we'd like, but we passed. The service was friendly, but tables that were seated 15 minutes after me were receiving their meals before me. I think they realized that because two separate people came to let me know that my food was coming soon. When the food came, the pad Thai was just okay. I ordered pad Thai with beef, medium spicy. The noodles were way too sweet. My portion didn't include any lime to help cut the sweetness. There was barely any spice. Located in cute mosaic district and really close by a Barnes and Noble. Quite good Thai food, a little on the more expensive side. The seating is a bit tight in this restaurant, though the round tables are nice to talk among the whole group. It is tight quarters though. We didn't have an insanely long wait even though it was packed on a Friday evening. I got the roast duck curry which is my usual go to. Curry sauce had amazing flavor and was quite good. The duck was a bit dry and small though. I've been to the Tyson's location before, same dish but had more meat and was juicier cuts. These were mostly thin strips of fried pieces, not many with meat. It did come with a side bowl of rice, but usually there is more curry, so you can just take it home and add it as a sauce on something else. read more

The restaurant is pretty loud and it was difficult to hear people at our same table. I ordered the Drunken Noodles and it was a good size. It was a little on the expensive side for $18. First the great. Fishcake appetizer was on point, so was the Crying Tiger my husband had. My first choice from the Thai market menu section was sadly not available so I went with a chef choice instead. Chicken lightly breaded with chili sauce. My dish was sadly lukewarm which didn't help and i should really say something the next time. It was a bit one note heavy on the saltiness and the fried Thai Basil was lost in the dish. Which is a shame because normally that makes a dish sing. I think they had a off day with that dish today. Also please update your website. I love Sisters Thai!! The Mosaic District location is cozy, but we've never had a problem getting seated. I've visited a few times now with my cousins for lunch and dinner and I've always had a great time. There's plenty of parking in Mosaic District at either the deck or street parking. Inside, the servers are super attentive and the decor is very cute. We've tried a couple of the drinks, including a fun gin-based one I got the last time that was the perfect amount of sweet. We've tried several dishes, including the Tom Yum soup, crab rangoons, Drunken Noodles, Ka Prow Fried Rice, green curry, and Panang Curry. Everything was so delicious, the fried rice was fresh, the noodles are always deliciously chewy, and the crab rangoons are fried perfectly. Cute little kitty art in my Thai Tea latte made my day . I ordered something with eggplant and tofu and it was good. The appetizers I got were okay but not anything special for me at least. I ordered the chive dumplings and would have preferred more chives and less breading. Good atmosphere and service though. Would come back. Edit: I actually would have preferred chiller and quieter music in the background as it was only 2:30ish in the afternoon on a Saturday but that's just personal preference. So wifey and I were in the Mosaic District and stopped in for lunch. We had gone here years ago and wanted to see if the food was as good as we remembered. I am happy to confirm that, yes, it was as good as I remembered if not better. We got there about 12:30 on the day after Christmas, and we had our pick of table I hadn't remembered the lunch special combos for $17 (see pic). We both goth the drunken noodles with ground chicken. Wifey got the crispy wontons (3) while I got the spring rolls (2). Both of the appetizers were awesome; hot, crispy, and flavorful. I would get either one again. The drunken noodles were also tasty with a rich gravy and lots of chicken. I had the same dish at other Thai places in NoVA, and none matches the amount of delicious chicken at Sisters. The dish had some spice but wasn't overpowering or unpleasant. Quite the contrary, the spice level was just right. Did I mention the noodles came out steaming hot? Awesome! read more

Though the restaurant was packed the whole night, service was attentive & steady. We got the- -Larb Gai ($13): tossed lettuce with ground chicken, red onion, & cilantro in spicy lime dressing. unfortunately, chicken was tad dry & our least fave dish. -Drunken Noodles w/ beef ($18): pan-fried wide rice noodles with chili, garlic, basil leaves, onions & tomatoes. the noodles were softer than what i've had before which i didn't mind. flavorful and enjoyed the tender beef and aromatic basil dispersed throughout the dish! -Crispy Duck Curry ($23): deep fried duck in spicy red coconut milk curry with basil, pineapple, and cherry tomatoes. never had pineapples in a curry dish before but loved the sweetness this added in contrast to the spiciness of the green peppers/ curry, savoriness of the duck, and freshness of veggies/ herb. our fave dish of the night! This is one of my many favorite Thai places to go to. Their aesthetic in all their locations are unmatched. Each one is designed mindfully and different from the other, but connected with a common theme. The service is always warm and welcoming as well as being attentive to the needs of the patrons. I always default to their drunken noodles but I have tried some of their other entrees. Their drunken noodles have a good wok flavor and chew, the veggies are always properly cooked without being overly mushy, and the protein is always perfectly cooked. I've tried their crying tiger, larb gai, and Ka prow fried rice. The sticky rice paired with the crying steak provides a sweetness that counters the tartness of the spicy chili sauce. The steak is always perfectly cooked and not overly chewy. The larb gai provides a nice balance between spice and citrus. My fiance loves having a larb and I was surprised I was allowed to share. The Ka prow fried rice holds a nice amount of flavor without overly drying out the rice. A friend of mine tried their seasonal special green curry fried rice which had an abundance of seafood, all perfectly cooked without being overly chewy or gummy. Their drinks and desserts are just as aesthetic as their overall decor. I got their ruby lychee which is similar to a slush with lychee jelly and lychee fruit. Food here time after time year after year is always fairly solid and consistent. However on our last visit, we went at 8:30 for dessert (restaurant closes at 9:30) and were told we had to take it to go, we could only dine in for a meal. The woman at the dessert counter just kept shaking her head with a mean look on her face. There were plenty of tables and we were planning on ordering many desserts. The grilled chicken satay looked like it was precooked and kept in the freezer for few days, then heated in the microwave before serving to us. I think the quality of food went down since the last time I've been here. The two dishes we got both had beef. The meat was extremely dry and not appetizing at all. Although the person who I went with drunken noodles were fairly good and both had great spice to them. My pad Thai was just bad. Call me spoiled coming from Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the thai food was very mediocre. This was the 2nd time I've gone. The first time I ordered to go and their food was horrible! I tasted like stale left overs from the other night that they reheated. My family choosed to go there the other day and their food is definately dulled to tailor towards tourist attractions or towards non experienced thai cuisine eaters.
