My mother has raved about this place a few times and so today when she asked if I'd like to check it out, I agreed. I ordered the beef brisket & pulled chicken. I loved the BBQ sauce but was a little confused about the plain bun and bread slice. Toasted bread would've been good. This place was really close to getting at least 4 stars until mid way through our meal, big groups of people started coming in for what we were told was going to be a graduation party. That's fine. We continued to eat until one of the employees (nice young lady) decided to come by our table with a poster and ask if we could stand up out of the booth so she could stand on the booth seat to hang a poster on the window. Huge NO NO. She also let us know that the graduation party begins at 7pm. It was 6:30). No one had the courtesy to let us know that we would have to leave at a certain time. Around 6:30 a family came in, ordered and sat behind us, after sitting for a couple minutes someone came to tell them that there was going to be a party and they would have to get their food Togo. Few foods cause as much rivalry, fierce loyalties, and controversy as BBQ. Like many folks, I love good BBQ, and have my preferences as to meats, sauce, and sides. For complete transparency, I've been eating 'Q' in various states regularly for almost 40 years, and my favorite is whole-hog pork BBQ with low country SC-style mustard sauce (it's what I grew up with, and to date, I've never had a better style anywhere). That being said, I respect the other styles/locations, and if it's done right and with love and respect to the meat, you'll get my business. So... My girlfriend and I have driven by Bobbee O's many times (and always laughed at the lit neon 'OPEN' sign on the side window that is turned on during hours that the restaurant is clearly not open), and finally decided to give it a try. We ordered through DoorDash, and the food arrived hot and well-packaged about 30 minutes after ordering (which was around 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening). I ordered the pulled pork dinner with cole slaw and baked beans, and my girlfriend ordered the brisket dinner with fried okra and cole slaw. We also ordered a side of Brunswick stew, a side of mac & cheese, and hush puppies as our choice of bread. Overall, we had a decent first experience (I'd give 3.5 stars if Yelp had that option), with the following pros & cons : Pros: * Almost all of the food looked fresh and had a 'home-made' quality. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want out of my 'Q' is an industrial-scale, boring chain restaurant vibe. * The portion sizes were ample, a good value, and had enough for leftovers. * Both the pulled pork and the brisket were moist and tender, and didn't need to be covered up in sauce to be tasty. But they did not have a massively intense smoked flavor that I've had at other places. * The mac & cheese had good flavor, with the addition of a little onion. It was definitely NOT the 'blue box', and tasted more like 'somebody else's family's recipe', if that makes any sense. * The fried okra was surprisingly good, and I absolutely despise okra. Cons: * While the vegetables in the cole slaw looked fresh, appealing, and were perfectly crisp, the dressing was so overwhelmingly sweet that my heart sank with disappointment after the first bite and I couldn't eat any more. Please watch the sugar ! * I know deep-fried foods can be difficult to pull off with take-out and delivery, but the hush puppies were not hot, dry in the middle, and seemed almost like an afterthought. * The Brunswick stew was okay, not great. The reason I put it in the cons is that we found not one, but two big bay leaves floating in it. While I like the flavor of bay leaf, and applaud the cooks for using real spices and herbs, they can be a little weird to swallow, especially if you're not expecting them. * The baked beans were also a little too sweet for my taste (but nowhere near as distractingly sweet as the cole slaw). A review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the sauce. I found the sauce to be neither a pro nor a con. For what it was, it was fine. Some people will love it, others will hate it. It is on the sweet and tangy side of things, and I personally didn't use much of it because I didn't think the meat needed it. It's not my favorite style, but seemed to be crafted with love, so I can't knock it. Your results may vary. My girlfriend and I both remarked that we would like to eat Bobbee O's BBQ again, and maybe try some different items. If you don't mind a ridiculously long wait (I've stood there along side a dozen others for 20+ minutes and not a single one of us got our order), then go for it, good is amazing. However, if you are a delivery driver, decline this place every time. I've tried 3 times to deliver via Postmates and each time I've stood and waited 30+ minutes waiting, AFTER having driven 15 minutes to get there. Had to cancel each time as they hadn't even started making the order. Last straw was waiting 45 minutes at about 3pm and having to go because I just couldn't wait longer. Literally wasting my time and money trying to deliver with Postmates if this comes up. Also had a friend say it took over 2 hours for his postmates order to arrive when he ordered delivery. read more

Was at work ordered out with a group of people 9 people ordered an 1hr 30 mins earlier. Didn't get the food until 10 minutes before our break was over. We only had 30 minutes for breakfast. When they brought the food they forgot an order. My burger had bad lettuce that was brown had to pick it off. The mac and cheese was the only thing good except for the tea. It was 1:20PM, so I thought after the lunch rush. 25 minutes later after watching the two people that ordered takeout after me got their order I stepped up to ask about my order. The lady handed me a brown bag, with excuses. Never make excuses to a customer. Make an apology, ask for forgiveness and a 2nd chance. And there are no excuses for being slower than molasses. I sat and watched for 25 minutes while 5 employees did everything but offer food to the people in the building. Nobody waited at the register though, they take your money quick. A simple takeout sandwich. Nothing special, no sides - 25 minutes. The quality of the actual sandwich is moot at this point. 1st and last time customer. My family got our food delivered. Everything tasted good but my son's chicken tenders. Those chicken tenders were so hard that I could have hammered a nail...and inside was so stringy. Customer Service is Great out front but the worst kitchen staff ever !!! The slowest kitchen staff ive ever come across. The food doesn't appear to be prepared as if they care. I spent about 10 mins on the phone ordering a simple hot dog with trimmings on the side and after i unwrapped it. I couldn't believe the soggy mess that was in front of me. I couldn't believe that they would give that to anyone. When i took it back and asked for a side of slaw it was so watery. Finally i had to ask for a refund. They only have one sauce which is extremely hot and spicy. What about when you serving children? The owner asked if i was coming back? That would be a NO!!! NOT EVEN IF IT WAS GOING TO BE FREE. I always try to stop by and get food when I get back to NC but this time I have to say I'm a little disappointed. Not in the food but the way we were treated. The food was good as usual BUT..... I only give 3 stars because this is the first time I've ever been treated this way here and I was embarrassed because I had taken guest to the restaurant from out of state to try it. When we walked in they checked our temperature (white and 3 Hispanics). We have no problem with that. The problem that I did have and the people I took with me had was that every person after us never had their temperature checked, which at least 4 African Americans dined in after us and didn't get temperature checked, along with everyone else that walked in the door. Despite the terrible reviews, we ordered takeout. Bobbee O's was disappointing. I placed my order at 3:01 pm. I was given a window (4:00-4:10 pm) of when my order would be ready. I called at 4:00 pm to check the status and was told that it was still being cooked but would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived at 4:30 pm, which was 20 minutes past the promised time and my food was not ready. At 4:45 pm, I was given my bags. I decided to check my order and realized I was missing two orders. When I informed the team member, they seemed confused. They said they would have to cook the other two items and I could wait. Two hours after I placed my order (at 5:00 pm), I was finally out the door with my order. I realized I never received the ranch for my pickles or the two kids drinks but I had enough. I arrived earlier than the wesite told me to for pickup, and my order was ready much sooner than projected. The pork was good other than the fact that it had some spices in it, which I don't care for, but I know some people like that. The brisket, cut thicker than normal, was fantastic. It had the perfect subtle smokey flavor, was really tender, and the sweet sauce they served with it matched up well. In the future, I would just order brisket and forgo the pork. The corn, cornbread, and sweet potato fries were unremarkable. All served hot. It was nice that sweet potato fries are an option, many BBQ places don't offer that choice. At dinnertime on a Sunday night, it was not crowded at all. There were only a few people dining in. The dining area was clean and spacious, there was also plenty of parking. Oh man, where to begin...? I enjoyed my first visit so much the other day that my husband is on his way there to pick me up a to-go order as I write this review! I tried the smoked chicken and bbq brisket with mac&cheese and greens while hubby had the brisket and pulled chicken with mac&cheese, baked beans, hush puppies and a hot link on the side. We also tried the banana pudding. EVERYTHING was so delicious! EVERYTHING! That brisket was melt in your mouth yummy. Aside from taste I really liked how they packaged the food. (We opened everything to show pics of the food). My husband has a pet peeve about containers touching fresh food. So I'm so glad they're mindful about how they package the food. Tried Bobbee O's for the first time. The wait times werent bad. We got takeout. The woman at the counter couldn't answer any of my questions - she should know how much BBQ a half pound feeds. The BBQ itself is spicy - too much for average tastes. Wasn't dry and had good flavor - just too spicy. The fried pickles lacked pickle flavor. Fries were soggy. Hush puppies were good. I live right around the corner and we are what you would call "regulars". Been eating at your place since you were located at the little small place down the street. But my last couple experiences have not been very good. I was told my food would be ready in 30 minutes time. I end up sitting up there and waiting for sometimes an additional 22-30 mins. on top of that. Now, if the place was slammed and the staff thin, I might be more forgiving. But there were 6-7 employees and only a couple customers (already served). Now, I understand good food takes time, and I am willing to wait. But just tell me the TRUTH in how long it will take. I can wait at home a little longer, very easily. The bread was also left out on a family Brisket meal. Disappointed with that too. read more

Very disappointed to be writing such a bad review because we have been to Bobbee Os several times and loved it...but today was BY FAR THE WORST BBQ EXPERIENCE EVER! Ordered 1lb rib tips, brisket platter with cabbage, Mac and cheese, and candies yams. The "rib tips" were ONE piece of fat and definitely not a pound; the brisket was 3/4 fat and what wasn't was overcooked and unable to eat/chew! Both ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING could not manage more than one bite! The Mac and cheese was watery, the noodles were overcooked/soggy; nothing was candied about the yams, and the cabbage was spicy as if it was Cajun! All of the food by husband threw away would not even give to our dog! We dipped our finger in the bbq sauce just to taste because we were going to put it on some chicken we AFTER we wasted $40 at Bobbee Os and immediate spit it out!...straight Vinegar and tomato paste; NOT BBQ!! We will never come back here and will let our friends and family know this place is no where near as good as it was a year ago and to spare the trip, disappointment, and complete waste of money read more

The Brisket I'm disappointed to see that the brisket is somewhat chopped - not fine - and it is covered in sauce. The brisket was overcooked, perhaps the result of arriving at 8PM, but the place advertises open until 11PM. It wasn't horrible, I'd say average. Putting some more sauce on it made it better, but now I'm liking sauce and not brisket. Verdict: I'll not order brisket next time I come here.   The Ribs It's ok that the ribs had sauce on them. I eat them wet and dry. And sometimes put sauce on dry rub ribs. But, they were also overcooked; and dry. The meat was too chewy. Verdict: I'll not order the ribs next time I come here The Chopped Pork OK, this turns out to be the best of the three meats. The flavor reminded us of the pork that Byrum General store in Shopton - in Steele Creek - used to serve before they shut down. We liked Bryum's and we liked this. This probably makes a great BBQ Sandwich! Although I'm not a fan of putting sticky type sauce on pork, their sauce was decent with the pork. I Verdict: I'll order this next time I come here.   The Sauce The sauce is a thin red sauce that looks like a thin jelly when you first look at it. It is sweet, and not really hot. They say a little sweet and a little hot. probably a little less hot.   The Sides Sorry I didn't take pictures of the sides. The best of the sides was the Mac and Cheese, it was a little bit salty but had great flavor and loaded with cheese. The baked bean just really didn't stand out. They were good, but were like heavily buttered pork and beans without the pork. Dropping some of the brisket and chopped pork in the beans made them much better. The Sweet Potato Fries were, about what you'd expect The slaw, we have is a mixed verdict on it. Becky liked it; I thought it had a fish flavor to it. Which if you aren't expecting it... We waited about 45 minutes for our food, and we didn't even order the fried chicken (they warn you that that will take 30 minutes). We had to ask for updates on the order multiple times. We were finally told that is was a paint night and there was an hour wait in to go orders. This was not told to us before we ordered. I have gone to this restaurant pre Covid 19 and each time the service gets worse. Tonight was the last straw for me. I placed an order online at 6:20 pm. I got there and they were once again very unorganized. Approximately 30 tickets on the counter that hadn't even been looked at. My order was supposed to be ready at 6:50 and I walked out of there without one of the sides with my order because the macaroni and cheese wasn't ready at 7:30! The challenge is management. You have to run your restaurant more organized. It's complete chaos and too many in the front trying to figure out orders. I would STRONGLY advice that you get some training on how to run an organized efficient restaurant. It's not just about serving good tasting food!!! I absolutely will not be back! read more

This was my first time ordering food from here. I order food from chow now. I place my order in at 9:30 and it said it will be ready by 10:35. I had order the family Brasket meal which comes with 3 sides, option of bread or bun. I got the cabbage, mac n cheese and the onion rings for my sides. I also order the Brasket salad, added on gallon tea , corn bread and order 20 wings. So my total was about 75. Okay so I sent my hubby to pick up the food, and he was kinda late because of an accident on the highway. So he got there around 10:45. Well when he got home I was missing my gallon tea, and we didn't get any bread with our order. So by this time they are closed, and I had to work the next day so I couldn't call them. Well I was disappointed that I didn't get my gallon tea. But lets get to the food part. The Brasket had no flavor at all but it was moist and tender. I drove the distance to support this bbq location. I ordered the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, yams, and fried okra. The okra was fresh. My mother seemed pleased with her serving of okra. Due to running around, I didn't get to taste my food until that evening and the next morning. I started with the pulled pork. I did nothing to this sandwich, but I wrapped it and take a bite. The pool pork was moist and say this is they have like a vinegar base to it. I didn't add any sauce and enjoyed that whole sandwich without reheating. The next tasting were the yams; mildly sweet but yet delightful. Finally the next morning, I got to my brisket sandwich I requested it not to have too much fat, and I must say it didn't. It had some sauce on it, which wasn't a problem at all. It seemed to be a sweet, red sauce. Well, I have no complaints about that sandwich, it did seemed to have some burnt ends. Both sandwiches offered healthy servings. My only request is that the yams are packed and something different because the juice leaked out of the container. I've eaten at this place several times, even before they moved to the current location. The food is usually good and enjoyed by my whole family. I've visited twice in the last month and both times have been a little disappointing. One of my favorites sides is the mac n cheese. However, recently the flavor has been altered. Not sure what it is. Too much salt or too many other seasonings ruined the flavor. I can't even get my 2 yr old to eat it anymore. Also the collard greens were bitter with large pieces of meat in it. There was never meat in them before. They also omitted one of the sides in my veggie plate which I didn't realize until I got home. Also the corn on the cob tasted old. I really like this establishment. It's close to home, clean and the staff is pretty friendly. I just think they need to better supervise the prep staff and stick to the original recipes. My Family and I walked into the restaurant for the first time. We were very excited to try it out based on the reviews. First thing I see is a cook in the kitchen Gnawing on a Rib. Walks out if the kitchen to use the sink in the front expo area. Rinsed his one hand he was holding the rib with for about 2 seconds, no soap. Goes back in the kitchen and continues with food prep and finishing orders. Don't know if he put on gloves but if his hands are not properly cleaned, when he touches the gloves to put them on, they are now contaminated. We have two kids under three. There were only two high chairs available and one was broken. There were several other employees in full view of this, dont know if one of them was a manager. I am a restaurant manager And unfortunately I see things that others may not. Management, Ownership should audit this location. read more
