The service was prompt friendly and helpful but the ribs tasted as if they were boiled and sauce added before serving. Very disappointed

We pulled up on a Saturday night for an early valentine's day dinner and they were dead. We were going to leave but we decided to try some place new and stick with our original idea. Let me tell you, I'm glad we stayed. The macaroni salad was the best EVER. Baked beans were great. My husband loved the greens and I agree, they were spot on. Brisket was so moist and the ribs and chicken were both fall of the bone and flavorful on their own without sauce. Lastly, I agree with their motto that 'it's all in da sauce' because the sauce is slap yo mama good with a little kick at the end. We live 40 minutes away but we'll be back for sure. read more

After seeing all the four and five star reviews I decided to try out this joint. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork plate which came with generous portions of each however they were both extremely dry and little to no flavor. The brisket was a specially dry and pretty much Blan. The cornbread was also extremely dry. The best part of my meal was by far the baked beans. The potato salad had bits of black potato in it so I didn't try it. When walking in a barbecue restaurant on a Friday night at 6:30 you would expect it to be full. Was looking for BBQ while visiting Charlotte ran across Bobbe O's on yelp. The decor was very nice.. very clean establishment. The young man at the counter could have been a little more pleasant but I'm use to young folks so it wasn't a big deal to me. We ordered a half chicken and rib meal with mac n' cheese and cabbage and beef brisket and rib meal with mac n' cheese and potato salad. All the sides were good. The only reason I couldn't give this spot a 5 was due to the fact the beef brisket was old and needed to be tossed certainly not served. The food here is good, but the service is really bad. My husband made an order on DoorDash for pick up and showed up on time. He had to wait an additional 45 minutes for the food. They have a "sit and paint" where people eat and make paintings on the weekend. This restaurant does not honor take out orders in the same way that a typical restaurant would. It sounded like you show up at your quoted time and then they start making your food as if you were a dine in customer. Look at the other negative reviews on Yelp all for the same night. Something was definitely going on. I called to discuss my concerns. After my conversation, I was left feeling that they do not care about their customers at all or are too overworked. Either way I will not be going back. There are other BBQ restaurants and it is easier and less stressful to visit one of them. Stumbled upon this place by accident and it did not disappoint. I consider myself a soulful food connoisseur and only recommend the best of the best. Of course, I ordered the chicken wings, St. Louis Ribs, Beef Brisket, MacnCheese, Okra & collard greens (to go). We waited about 20 minutes and the staff informed us after 10, that the wings were delayed and offered a piece of carrot cake (for the inconvenience). This is the second time I've been here and the food has been pretty good both times. We are a group of gals that get together every week at different restaurants and most of us grew up in Derita. This place works great for take-out, but it is almost impossible to eat there and carry on any kind of conversation because the music is so loud. We were the only ones eating in and asked if the volume could be turned down some - it was-and then turned back up again! We were still the only people in the place. Was looking for Texas style bbq this place says it's all in the sauce Texas style u only put sauce on if your trying to hide some thing. But for Carolina style flavor good big servings hard to beat only complaint ordered a rib sandwich but it still had the bones ? Had to pull apart to eat !! My husband loves this place! I called at 8:52 pm (they close at 9:00 pm) on Memorial Day to call in an order and told them I live ten minutes away and would be there. My boyfriend and I tried Bobbee O's BBQ for the first time tonight. Got it to go through Door Dash. After reading multiple reviews, we were a little skeptical but willing to give it a try. I ordered the brisket plate with two sides, fried okra and coleslaw. My BF got the pulled pork plate with coleslaw and baked beans. I also ordered us single sides of mac and cheese and Brunswick Stew to share. It was a lot of food. We did opt for the extra meat which was $2.00 extra, but what we received was what I would consider a regular portion and seemed small to be considered extra meat. Size aside, the both the brisket and the pork were seasoned well and flavorful with a nice balance of fat to meat on the brisket. There are a lot of bad reviews about the mac and cheese but I found it to be really good! It tasted like homemade. Perhaps most of the people who didn't like it are used to box mac and cheese. The fried okra was perfect! The coleslaw was fresh and crisp but had too much sugar. The beans also had a tad too much sugar. And finally, the Brunswick Stew. I consider myself a Brunswick Stew snob, so I was not surprised to find that I did not care for Bobbee O's stew. It was flavorful and spicy but had far more ingredients than I care for. I like my Brunswick Stew a little less crowded. Overall, the food was good. I would order there again. read more

New to the area and this was my first time visiting. The food was ok but the service was slow with no apology for the long wait-even though I called the order in ahead of time and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes and it took me 25 minutes to drive there and my order still was t ready when I arrived. And what's up with the bread?? I ordered 6 buns knowing I would be charged .30 each. When I checked my order they only gave me 2 buns. When I asked for additional buns I was told by the woman cook (I've named her the BUN NAZI) said that they can only give 2 rolls per pound of meat ordered and since I had only ordered 1.5 pounds of meat that they could only give me 2 buns. What the heck?! I was willing to pay extra for all 6! At that point they graciously gave me 2 more buns and when I said that I was feeding 6 people tonite all the girl at the register could do was apologize and agree with me that this sucked. Wow! So by the time I stopped at Harris Teeter to buy additional buns (which defeated the purpose of ordering take out to begin with because I didn't have time to grocery shop) my food was cold and my family was grouchy because their food was cold and because it took so long to get home with the the food after the long wait time and an unplanned visit to the store to buy buns. And to make matters worse-I just checked my receipt and was charged for 6 buns all along! Not sure why they are so stingy with the buns! Definitely won't be back! Yep! We were visiting Charlotte for the weekend. We were looking for a casual, early supper and decided to visit Bobbee O's. My husband ate a bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. He loved his meal. My niece and I both ordered pulled pork. The slaw was sweet and milky. The mac and cheese was good because it had onions and extra cheese. The collards were home cooked. Counter gentleman was very helpful for 1st time visitors. 3 of us had different items to share. Onion rings were huge and cooked just right. I'm not a fan of their fries, but that's not the reason for coming. Coleslaw was juicy and had a great flavor. My spouse said the collard greens brought back wonderful childhood memories of her grandmothers cooking. Mac and cheese was baked to perfection and creamy and very cheesy. I love this place. Every single thing I've tried has met or exceeded my expectations. Mr O has made me a cabbage lover. I mean I like cabbage ok but that cabbage of his is sent from heaven! Oh God it's good. I will say that the veges are southern style (which I am) so if you don't get down with soft veges they may not be for you. My favorite meats are the brisket and the pork.
