I'm gonna start by saying that Purple Onion is one of my very favorite restaurants. Whenever I have out of town company that's the place. I like to take them because there's something for everyone. With that said I had lunch with my daughter on Tuesday and we both love crab legs so we thought we would try the crab claws. We were both kind of taken a back because first of all what we received looked nothing like this picture that's on the menu. The crab claws were maybe the size of your thumbnail. I'm talking you got about an 8th to a quarter teaspoon of crab meat. We each ate one and shook our heads at how very little meat was on there. When the waiter came back by, we let them know that we could not eat those, and the statement made was, "yeah, they suck." I wish they would've said something when we ordered them, but nevertheless, they were taken off of our ticket. The artichoke dip that we had was delicious as were the fries, it was just disappointing that our main protein was a letdown. read more

So I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, but since we are not from the cabin area, our timing is key. Finished up a volleyball game and wanted something good to eat before we headed home. My entire family has eaten here, but I have not. So we had it on over and I got to try it. We ordered the barbecue nachos and bacon wrapped jalapeños. Both were really food! The wonton chips are my absolute favorite when it comes to nachos! Jalapeño bites were awesome. My daughter and I crushed those in a heart beat! I ordered the white wing plate and it was ok. It supposed to be stuffed with cheese and jalapeños, but my guess is all the cheese cooked out or there was so little of it that it evaporated! If they can figure out how to keep the cheese present then it would be great. But since the cheese was not present, the chicken was on the drier side. Side Caesar salad was ok. Dressing was generic and plentiful! Everybody enjoyed the meal. We will go back and try some different items next time. read more

This place is really good they have amazing shrimp the employees are really nice and they get the food out within like 20 minutes so it's a little slow but it's only because there are a lot of people there pretty much every time you go I recommend this place I've been going here for a while now. Six visits. Six wrong orders. we learned after our first take-out order to carefully check our order. at the counter before we leave. The servers usually act very annoyed with us even though every order we have initially received was someone else's. by the time we have or orders, it is already cold. I'm sure the food would be good enough, but none of it fares well in the microwave. As expensive as Purple onion is, your food shouldn't be cold. read more

appetizers, entrees, and desserts was overall delicious and comes in large portions for the low price. our nachos had generous amount of toppings, the chips were a little underfried tho. they have specialty drinks that were so good and came out quick. their bread pudding was the best I've had and was huge. our waiter checked on us often, even when it got busier and provided us with everything we needed and cleared used plates off our table quickly, making room. this place has a good amount of parking and seating areas. we came during a game playing, so it was kind of loud, but they have plenty of screens covering multiple angles so all could watch. read more

Went with my mom. Ordered Crawfish Etouffe and gumbo. Both were lukewarm at best. They came out quickly, but not warm at all. Also not seasoned at all. I don't think I have ever had a cajun dish that needed so much salt. Added salt, hot sauce, etc. Had to ask the waitress twice to reheat the crawfish etouffe. Would not come back here for sure. The service was good. Our waitress was attentive and kind. The food however was terrible. Extra greasy and lacked flavor. It was overly salty sometimes too. The cleanliness of the place is lacking. The Cajun catfish was AMAZING. I knew the minute I got here that this place must be good because it was packed on a Wednesday. Don't blame the wait time on them giving great food. I've had catfish that had a funny taste or was over spiced. Not this fish. It was just right. There was a lot of fried okra and a decent amount of rice. The mash potatoes had this gravy that I've not had before. I liked it very much. All together, in a single word, "smooth". Everything together smoothly supported each other. This place is a gem (Amethyst) within Cabot, AR! The food is very good. I had pasta with shrimp and crab. The dish was very flavorful and it comes with a slice of garlic bread. The bread had just the right crunch on the edges with the crust and pillowy soft interior. It is the right amount of garlic and butter as well. Our server recommended getting a second slice when I ordered; he was right. I look forward to going back because there were many other entrees on the menu that looked equally delicious. My guests each had the breaded chicken salad which was a generous helping. The food also comes at a very fair price and for military they offer a 10% discount.
