Bobbie's is a rite of passage for Nashvillians, a '50s style fast-food, walkup stand from yesteryear that draws long lines of eager customers. Serving a diverse menu of American classics from old-fashioned hamburgers and hot dogs to creative dairy treats, Bobbie's has been in business since 1951. In fact, known as Harper's Dairy Dip until 1986, this is the third oldest eatery on one of America's longest roads (Highway 70) in continuous operation (fourth oldest overall). The good thing is that you'll enjoy your experience, there is plenty of outdoor seating, and the service is always excellent. Employees stay positive and relaxed despite the stress of growing lines and constant orders coming in. The downsides include long lines, notoriously impossible parking, and average food. Even the soft serve ice cream isn't good, and that's difficult to mess up. I ordered a Heath Swirlie over the weekend, and I could barely find any toffee. And the soft serve just wasn't good. The hamburger was equally mediocre, harkening back to a simpler time but not something that would wow you in any way. Go here for the history and to keep them going, not for high-quality food.

Got a kid sized dipped cone. It was HUGE. I could barely finish it haha so beware when ordering. The ice cream was nothing notably special. Just tasted like an ordinary ice cream. The place itself is cute and aesthetic. The workers are friendly.

So yummy! This vintage ice cream shop is perfect for a hot day. Yes the line might be long but it is worth it. The hand dipped cones are my best but they also have food

Yes, the line is usually insanely long. Yes, the operating hours are frustrating. But don't let that deter you from trying Bobbie's Dairy Dip. The banana split was to die for. The entire experience was incredibly nostalgic, and I crave Bobbie's constantly! 10/10!

THE BEST BURGER IN ALL OF NASHVILLE!!! Don't know why I have waited so long to visit but will be a regular going forward. Been in operation since 1951. Chocolate shake that reminded me of my childhood. I was hungry and decided to order the Double Cheeseburger. The thick and hearty beef patties were almost too much at one time. However I managed to power through the meal. The perfect basic toppings of cheese, lettuce and tomato to complement your taste buds. Walk up window to order. Plenty of outdoor covered tables and chairs or picnic style tables for seating. All ages came and went while I was there of both locals and passerbys.

A charming, old-school staple that's been dishing out ice cream for over 70 years! I finally stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon and couldn't be happier I did. I went for the medium chocolate-vanilla twist dipped in chocolate--it hit the spot. There's plenty of outdoor seating with picnic tables, making it a great summer hangout for the whole family. Service was speedy, the line moved quickly, and the prices were more than reasonable. Definitely worth a visit! Just a heads-up: it's card-only, so leave the cash at home!

Well there isn't too much to say about Bobbies which has been serving ice cream for 70+ years. It is a low cost classic ice cream spot that is served all day. Service was very fast and they have some outdoor seating. You can swing in here hand them a few dollars and be on your way with a huge cone of ice cream that will put a smile on your face. If you're in west Nashville you owe it to yourself to stop by and grab a cone or shake!

This historic place reminds me of so many long lost ice cream shops you could find fully packed with crowds over the summer. Places like this are quickly disappearing, so I am glad to have a friend tell me about this local gem. While you can get the traditional soft serve, they had so many other options of any combo or flavor you could desire. I appreciate all the outdoor seating, and fan overhead. The parking can be difficult, as this place is popular. But worth the effort.

Get what they're known for! The soft serve is amazing! I got a small swirl in a cone. The cone tasted like cardboard, but really enjoyed the soft serve! I also got a burger and it was average. The fries were fine. I would stick to the ice cream here, which is what they're famous for!!

A Nashville Gem! If you want soft serve ice cream, you've found the right place! I have been coming here for 30+yrs and you get the same great customer service and great Ice Cream....along with other food selections. The line can get long, but it's definitely worth the wait!

Heads up they may have a long line nearly leading into the road, so prepare to wait. OAN: Bobbie, you let me down. Strawberry shortcake is by far one of my favorite desserts. So when I seen it on the menu I just knew it was about to be A1 after the description I was given of how it's made. Ice cream 5/5 Strawberries 5/5 Whip cream 5/5 "Small Vanilla cake" (what I was told it was) 0/5....the cake was a biscuit....A BISCUIT! I have never had a strawberry shortcake made with a biscuit. Had I known this before, I definitely would've settled for a specialty shake. The biscuit was dry and very bland. The only moisture the biscuit was able to soak up came from my icecream. I was rather disappointed. But I do encourage you all to try them. The ice cream is great. Just NOT my strawberry shortBISCUIT.

This place is relaxed, quick, and prices are super reasonable. The perfect spot to get a sweet treat!

The location of this place is absolutely perfect - right after a damn hot level hot chicken meal from Hattie B's, just walk yourself straight over to Bobbie's Dairy Dip to cool off with a soft serve cone or milkshake. I always treat myself with a small or kid size vanilla soft serve cone dipped in chocolate - the chocolate crackles so nicely, and even though the ice cream really doesn't taste like vanilla at all, it is so nostalgic and comforting. The owner is super friendly, the service is quick and we've never had any issues with our orders. I will say the milkshake is super thick which I prefer, so double straw it if you find those difficult to drink.

It was okay for the most part...but needed more options for ice cream instead of vanilla and chocolate

It is my first time to eat there. Hamburgers taste so awesome to eat as real homemade beefs. Fries is okay.

Service was bit slow and ice cream was fine but not spectacular. The place could use a good cleaning though.

Ice cream is always great, but the service is consistently terrible. It's probably worth it, just be sure you're ready to make a day of it.

Get the Memphis speciality shake. Banana, bacon, chocolate. Amazing. They were even kind enough to give me a bowl of water for my dog.

Get there when you get the chance. The food and service is excellent if you don't end up stuck behind 30 hipsters.

Their ice creams are creamy and naturally flavored. I have tried the Brambleberry Crunch, which is one of my favorites. Their Darkest Chocolate ice cream is also delicious and decadent. But the Hibiscus Chili was the most underrated flavor. I think it deserves a lot more hype. The ice cream shop at this location can get very busy, but the service is extremely quick. The team at Jeni's is always patient with me, even when I am confused with all their range of flavors. I particularly love how the shop smells of baked waffle cones.

It's long, it's inevitable, and trying to fight it is a rookie mistake. Because when ice cream is this profoundly good, crowds happen. Step two: Don't panic. The crew behind the counter operates with the high-speed efficiency of a pit crew, yet somehow maintains the absolute patience of saints while you undergo an existential crisis deciding on flavors. My personal blueprint for success was all about contrast. I engineered a double-scoop masterpiece: a heavy, deeply decadent, unapologetic chocolate base, perfectly countered by a lighter, delicate second scoop to balance the universe. It was an elite flavor pivot. Delicious doesn't even cover it. Meanwhile, my wife absolutely devoured her fruit-forward flavors with a speed that felt slightly competitive. Total sensory overload in the best way possible. I'm giving this place a flawless five stars, mostly because I have to, but also because I am currently stalking the freezer aisle of my local Publix like a person possessed, trying to hunt down pints to replicate this high until I can get back to Nashville. Do your tastebuds a favor. Just get in line.
