Loved it! Burgers reminded me of the kind I used to get at our neighborhood ball field, and the peanut butter milkshake was delicious! Ever dreamed of being able to travel back in time? Where would you go? Well, if you drive down Charlotte Ave in Nashville, TN you could go to an old school groovy burger joint. And you wouldn't even need a crazy haired scientist or a DeLorean. Bobbie's Dairy Dip is a cool throw back restaurant. They offer hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, fries regular and sweet potato, onion rings, ice cream, and crazy mixed up mixed in super shakes. I've tried all of the above (aside from the veggie burger ... what can I say ... I have canine teeth) The burger is good and freshly made, didn't taste like a preformed prefrozen patty. and you can have anything you want on it. I assume, I mean I never asked for peanut butter or anchovies so ..... the hot dog was big enough to fill the bun and tasted good. almost more like a sausage than a hot dog. The french fries were hand made and salted with large crystals of sea salt that popped in your mouth though they weren't quite as crispety crunchy as i would have liked. I forgive them though and would order them again. The onion rings were large and just as greasy as they should be but there weren't enough of them in an order. I wasn't enamored with the butterscotch shake. Not .... butterscotchy .... enough. I've also had a shake called the Howdy Doody. It was a concoction of Peanut Butter, Strawberry Jelly, Chocolate Chips, and Vanilla Ice Cream. And it was good times my friends. The atmosphere here is charming in a retro vintagey way. There is only outdoor seating with some seats at the side of the place under an awning and other seats around picnic like tables with umbrella covers. I like the multicolored benches and umbrellas. To place your order you stand in line in front of the building and browse the menu, which is written on a chalkboard above the ordering window. Great people watching opportunity. It's a family place and at any given time you will see several generations seated at one side or the other of the building. It is right next to a busy street though so be aware of that and don't let those kids run loose and out into traffic. I don't think anyone wants all that paperwork. read more

I've been dying to check out this place since I arrived to Nashville and was very disappointed. I heard many people say how good this place was but it did not live up to the hype. My husband and I went on a Sunday - the line wasn't too long but we had a few minute wait. We got cheeseburgers, fries, and a chocolate dipped cone. The burgers tasted like something you would get at a high school basketball game concession, it was dry and flavorless. The ice cream was nothing out of the ordinary, it can be compared to the soft serve at DQ or McDonalds. The atmosphere/outdoor seating was pretty awful -- trash all over the ground, the garbage bins near by rotting in the sun to smell while you eat, not appealing. It wasn't great, it wasn't cheap, and a pretty unpleasant experience. Skip the wait and the heat for an alternative. read more

Service was bit slow and ice cream was fine but not spectacular. The place could use a good cleaning though.

I have stopped and eaten a burger and shake at Bobbie's Dairy Dip many times when I am on the west side of Nashville. Doesn't get any better than the bacon double cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. I have stopped at this place and ordered a dipped cone in the dead of winter because they are so good. When you gotta have it, you just gotta have it. I remember the guy working their was wearing a huge parka and hat with earflaps. He still looked cold. My dipped cone was just as good as in the summertime, and it didn't melt too fast! read more

I love Bobbie's very much, and every year, I anticipate the opening of its windows. It is definitely the place to go for a fantastic milkshake in Nashville. I had high hopes for Bobbie ' s and presume we hit it on a down moment. The menu looks awsome and the vibe is defiently old school burger/ice cream shop. The outside seating is covered, clean and comfortable. I got the double cheese burger. Everything was fresh and good except for the burgers which were dry and seemed like they had been sitting around for awhile before being served. I also got the wrong shake. My dinning partners seemed happy so I am willing to accept that mine was the anomalous experience. If based solely on my order it would be a 2 star rating. But the old timey vibe and service earns a benefit of the doubt bump. read more

A Nashville original. The wait will be arduous. Parking is hell as surrounding businesses are not very courteous about the Dairy Dip's overflow. Any number of combinations of the tasty treats are totally worth it. Though with the wait I would not go on a super hot day. Your treat will be melted fairly quickly. Kid friendly. I had heard great reviews of this place, but I was a bit disappointed. I didn't get their food, so I can't comment on that. I never would have thought that this place only had soft-serve ice cream. I had whatever milkshake had blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries and it was really good. Ultimately what disappointed me the most was the service. I had just gotten to the order window, which had just been shut by someone. Including me, there were 3 new separate parties trying to figure out the ordering process because it was about 5 minutes before someone came back to open the order window so we could place our order. Used to love this place. Went there last night. Got in line behind a group of 8. While waiting, another 2 people joined the 8 slowing the line. Bobbie's is NOT a FAST SERVICE Restaurant, so I waited patiently. The group of 10 in front of us all ordered burgers. When we got to the window, we were told the kitchen just closed. I explained that the group in front ordered, I was told they got in line before they closed. I explained that we were in line at same time, the young man informed us that was "too bad". I have tried calling to address my concerns and the phone is ALWAYS off the hook. At this point, I will NEVER go back. read more

Two weeks ago my wife and I took our grandchildren to Bobby's on Charlotte Ave. Both my grandchildren were injured by rusty nails sticking out of the picnic tables underneath. Thank goodness they had their tetanus vaccine. I immediately reported it to three different employees while I was there. I just came back by today to see if they fixed the problem. No, the problem is still there. Several tables have rusty nails sticking out underneath. I guess I first will call Metro Codes Monday; any lawyers got any good ideas. I don't think I've ever left a Yelp review... let alone a 1-Star rating, but my families experience at Bobbie's was *truly* terrible... and our attempt to make any contact with the owners or management to let them know has been even worse! As a service industry veteran, I'm empathetic and often give an establishment the benefit of the doubt when things go wrong, but after they upset us (and the 10-12 customers behind us,) we were met with rude, apathetic, and unapologetic behavior. Since they do not have an active website, I sent a FB message requesting someone reach out to chat... no reply. When I called their location to request a manager's contact, I was met with an abrasive "we don't do that"... and without even sharing my experience, was told my concern "might not warrant a call back from a supervisor." Yup. We still haven't heard anything. I would MUCH rather support a small business than write this review, but currently, I HIGHLY recommend spending your time and money elsewhere! read more

Was treated very poorly by the manager. I spent over $20 and handed the manager my card. At the last minute, i asked if he could dip my ice cream in the chocolate shell. He said it would cost $.50 extra. I said no problem. Then, he told me its too late because he has already ran my card. He asked for cash and I had none. I told him he could run my card again, i had no problem paying the $.50. He said there is a $3 minimum. I reminded him that i'm paying $20+ so i have cleared the $3 minimum. I said he could cancel the order and re-run it with the additional $.50. He argued with me for about 5 minutes telling me all the reasons he couldn't dip my cone in the chocolate shell and let me pay him an additional $.50. After asking to speak to the manager, he told me he is the manager. This poor example of customer service will keep me from coming back here. All over $.50 read more
