One of the best Bobby and Steves. Did good job changing oil on a stop in. Dropped a star as the service guy tried to over charge me for synthetic oil change. Said the system recommends it, and I told him that I just wanted the regular change. We needed to get the mechanic to confirm it was just a standard oil change. Car wash is solid and it's great to see someone come out and pressure washer your tires and tough to clean areas before going into wash. They also give you complimentary dash towel to clean that up while machine does it work on the outside. read more

I came here strictly to put air in my tires. I ended up going inside for a moment to ask a question and was not overly impressed; I kind of expected more. My main compliant and why I gave them such a low rating, is that every where I looked there was an employee smoking or I spoke with an employee who just reeked of smoke. Was stranded in Minneapolis yesterday (I live 1+ hr away), after one of my rear wheels locked up. Searched google for a towing company and they came up as one of the closest to where I was at. They were able to get a tow truck over to me in a reasonable time and had a estimate to me about a half hour after getting to the shop. They have a nice waiting room upstairs, and offer free fountain pop while you wait. When I got the estimate, it was nicely broken down into two sections......one showing what I needed to get back on the road, and another with a couple other items that should be done soon, but weren't "needed" immediately. Overall, I was very happy with the service. If I ever have problems in the area again, they will definetly get my service. read more

ALWAYS a little more expensive than the gas station down the road... except there isn't a gas station down the road and they know it. I work close by sometimes so i find myself having to fill up there once in a while and it's always the most I pay for gas. It is clean, and up to date like most of their locations. Do not give these guys your business. I've had two dealings with these guys and both have been unnecessarily painful experiences. See how this review matches the others... This summer I brought a 2006 Ford Freestyle there for two sway link replacements and an oil change before I sold the car. There was a rattle coming from one of the axles and I knew it to be the problem, but didn't have the time to diagnose which wheel it was coming from or to perform the work. I took it to this Bobby and Steves because of the convenience of them picking up and returning the car to my work. Long story short, they said 3 of the sway links had to replace and a control arm bushing. I gave them the go ahead so I could get the car back the same day as promised. They called me at the end of the day saying that the entire control arm was bad and had to be replaced. Now, I'm mechanically savvy enough to know this meant they damaged the arm trying to get the bushing out - which they eventually admitted to when I told them to just replace the bushing and I would replace the arm myself. After a lot of back and forth, they agreed to eat the extra cost of the arm and replaced it. Once the car was back to me, the rattle was still there. I was too tired of dealing with them at this point so I replaced the fourth sway link they hadn't touched, and it was gone. Skip ahead to now...replacing tires on my 2008 Jeep Commander. I figured it was just tires, can't screw that up, right? Their prices were comparable and offered the pickup and a gas card for $60. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I got it home and realized they put the wrong tires on. Wrong model, wrong brand, wrong rating. They couldn't explain how or why it got messed up but said that the tires that were supposed to go on it were sitting on the floor next to the bay the car was in. This was on a Friday on the cusp of a snowstorm. They promised to "make it right" and to just bring it back after the weekend. They finally put the right tires on it, and only offered an insincere apology for the inconvenience, even after I made my disappointment abundantly clear. My gas light had come on and offered to put gas in it...only to get a phone call this afternoon from someone (didn't even say introduce themselves) demanding a credit card number to pay for it. When I said I didn't even know who he was and wasn't going to give him my CC number, I just got attitude ("Haha WOW") from him. I called the shop back and told them about that interaction and they couldn't have cared any less. The same insincere, business-as-usual, 'I'm not actually sorry' apology. Did not offer any incentive at all to keep my future business, and I can guarantee they will not be receiving it. I'm not somebody who is just looking for something for free, I just want to pay a good price for good work and be treated fairly. There is ample competition out there these days, and these guys acted like that the relationship with their customers meant nothing. Spend an extra 5 minutes looking for mechanics and give your money to someone more deserving. UPDATE: After reading this review, an Operations Leader contacted us and offered to reimburse the cost of the gas they had put in as a goodwill gesture. read more

Warning! Caught them in attempted fraud! Do NOT trust these people with your car. They WILL attempt to charge you for unnecessary work. Right before Christmas on 12/14/18, I came there for a required safety inspection to be able to drive for Uber that night. I explained I was broke and desperately needed to work that night. They "inspected" the car and failed me, saying the tires were too worn and unsafe being gauged at 3 and they had to be 4 or more. They also said the wipers needed to be replaced before they would give me a pass. The tires were just purchased last year and had half their tread left. He told me I had to replace the fronts for $200 or he wouldn't pass me. I went to Goodyear and TiresPlus where they said my tires and wipers we're fine. They measured them and both places said they were at 6. Twice as much as what they claimed. I went back and asked for them to measure again at B&S. The mechanic and another guy came out and measured both tires again at 3. He plugged it into 4 different places on each tire. I asked for the tool and tried for myself and got 6's across both tires. I caught them in their fraud attempt. I told them how I needed money for Christmas and they tried to scam me out of $200 for tires I didn't need. After confronting them, they threatened to call the police if I didn't leave and picked up the phone to dial. Read the other reviews and warnings. I am not the first to have caught them. They are breaking the law and robbing honest people. read more

The poor reviews by the basket full speak for themselves. Tip: these guys suck. They left a cap off both times they changed my oil. This time I lost all of my coolant and baked my engine. AND it takes these little monkeys 45 to change oil! I can do it in the driveway faster. Save $5 and do it yourself. If I could give them negative stars I would. My cooling systems was all kinds of fucked up from this oil change. I've emailed them and they don't reply. No customer service . Bobby and Steve's refused to take care of me. After they offered me a bottle of coolant and a free oil change they would not reply to anymore of the messages that I sent. To Christina, who messaged me about how stupid I am. Here is a detailed explanation of exactly how it is that the B & S employee affected my car. (Christina obviously works for B&S, profile created today to give B&S 5 stars and put me down?) My oil change had everything to do with my car overheating. The Tech accidentally gave me the full service when I asked for the basic. He removed my coolant reservoir cap which had the overflow tube going through the top of it and then didn't replace it. Because of this when my coolant got up to temp and needed to expand, instead of going into the overflow tank it spewed all over the engine bay. They didn't recommend a thing. I wouldn't want them to check these things because mistakes like this happen. I am a mechanic. I have been a professional mechanic for many years, no my vagina does not get in the way of my fixing cars. When the coolant escapes the system the engine bakes. When this happened my thermostat failed. The loss of the thermostat caused a few more over heatings which in turn caused my water pump to fail. And yes, I replaced the water pump myself. I pay for oil changes because with the price of oil these days I would only save about $5 if I did it myself and I'd rather not get down on the ground and covered in oil to save $5, especially on a hot day. Thank you for your ignorant "compliment" but you have no idea what the fudge you are talking about. You sound like one of the MENSA members they have changing oil at Bobby and Steve's. FYI: I have worked as an oil monkey when I was younger, and they hire people who know NOTHING about cars because you can train them easily to drain and fill oil and then pay them min. wage. (not all, but many) And totally unrelated, you spell and commit grammatical errors like a 9 yr old. My experience dates back to early 2013, when I purchased a set of tires online and saw that Bobby and Steve's was a certified installer. I work nearby so scheduled the appointment and brought my car to them. The free courtesy ride back to work was a nice perk. When I picked up my car I immediately noticed something was wrong - there was a thump-thump-thump feel from the tires. I brought it back as I suspected a defective tire or mistake in the mount and balance (I worked in a full service gas station in my younger days and have changed lots of tires). B&S checked it out and assured me that all was well. Frustrated now, I took matters into my own hands. I swapped each of the new tires with my spare until I found the faulty tire. I then contacted B&S and they were less than helpful, stating "there's nothing in it for them", even though they were a certified installer and were a dealer for the tires I purchased. They said the web seller had to deal with it. I called the web dealer and they said I needed verification that the tire was bad (I believe it was called a "load test"). Bobby and Steve's in Edina didn't have the equipment to do this but assured me their Eden Prairie location did. I drove there. They didn't. They suggested I go to Samaritan Tire in St. Louis Park, so I did. That shop (which I will review separately) was fantastic. They did the test, handled the warranty and changed the tire FREE OF CHARGE. Amazing. I will think twice about ordering tires from the web again. And I will never, ever return to Bobby and Steve's. read more

I am new to town and found myself with a flat while in the France Avenue area. I went to Bobby & Steve's because it was the closest service center. They very nicely took my car to look at it and came back with the diagnosis -- I had hit a curve and my rim was dented and allowing air out of the tire. They fixed it and sent me on my way. That was July 30th. Around Aug. 16th, my husband noticed that same tire again had a flat so I went to the Washington Avenue location since it was closer. When they called the Bloomington center, they were told that Bloomington told me there would be no guarantee on the tire because of..... I asked who supposedly told me that and Washington Center told me Bob. I told Washington Center that I never spoke with a Bob at Bloomington and so this did not bode well for trust, and sounded more like a "cya" (cover your tush). Washington Center tried to be nice. Long story short... Washington Center didn't want to even look at my tire. They just wanted me to order a new rim. I tried to get them to look at it and they wouldn't. Again, didn't feel good. Today, I brought my car to another service center that my husband used. They took the time to check the rim and put the tire in water where they found a small puncture which they said it looked like it had been there for awhile since the nail was rusty. They plugged the tire and I was out of there in under 30 minutes. As Ken R. said back in 11/11, "RUN!!! Don't walk away, RUN!!!" Despite Bobby & Steve's being so close to where I live, I will NEVER use them again!!! read more

I just had a terrible experience at this location of B&S. I was told that my car needed a new engine - I was quoted over $3400 to fix it on a 2004 Honda Civic which basically meant it was time for the salvage yard. I took a big and rather reckless chance and drove it home. The next day I brought it somewhere else and was told it's a minor issue - just a clamp on the coolant is needed- under $100. I am not even so upset with my own experience as how I worry this could happen to someone else. Especially someone who does not know a lot about cars and trusts the professional advice they are given. Over the years, I have gone to B&S - three of their locations and I have spent a lot of money. Now, I realize I am the fool. I liked them because they are always open and they get things fixed quick but beware of that convenience for anything major! read more

When my sister in law had car issues and said she was going to Bobby & Steves the next day, I strongly urged against it but she went herself, wanting to form her own opinion. I am so adamantly against Bobby & Steve's that when I saw a friend had a Bobby & Steves coupon sitting in their kitchen for 7c off/gallon I ripped it up and gave him $2 to pay for the "savings" so that he could go somewhere else. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!! I am a young, female, broke, college student and don't know much about about cars. Bobby and Steve's knew I didn't know much about cars and tried to take advantage of me. I WAS ALMOST SCAMMED OUT OF $500.00! I have a 1994 Honda Accord I was told by Bobby and Steve's that my check engine light was on due to my anti-lock breaks. I had already spent $60.00 at this point just for them to diagnose this issue. I was concerned with my check engine light being on and they told me I must fix my anti lock breaks to get the light to turn off. I gave them the OK and ran over the plan with my dad. My dad told me that my car does NOT have anti lock breaks and to get my car out of there!! I called them right back and told them I was coming to get my car right away. I rushed over there to get it and the guy giving me the key seemed upset that I was taking the car. His face turned red and he said, "Im sure you wont be able to find another place who can diagnose your issue and give you a better price then us." I paid the $60 of diagnostics (basically stole my $60) and got my car OUT OF THERE! I brought it to a trusted mechanic (friend of a friend) who told me my check engine light was on due to my O2 sensor. He also confirmed that i don't have anti-lock breaks. Please, please, please if you don't know much about cars use my experience as a lesson learned. No one wants to be scammed and you will be scammed if you go here. This review is for a tow service. My ball joint decided to commit suicide on the way to work, I managed to get out of harms way and went about figuring out how to deal with my fun situation. Thank you, smart phones. Looked up some spots and then remembered that Bobby & Steve's was close on France Ave. Called them up for a tow. The driver arrived in under 15 minutes. He was polite, friendly and knew what he was doing. I asked him for a ride to the office which was a few blocks away, he dropped me off and asked about where to put the vehicle as it was being towed back to my home. I gave him some general instructions and asked if he could drop it to one side of the driveway to give me a little room on the other side to work on it, hoping for the best. I got home that night to find my truck masterfully parked all the way in the back of my long, narrow driveway. Still not quite sure how he did that but it was perfect. read more

TERRIBLE! I really am not one to complain about service and write bad reviews, but am so angry that I have to and doing this in real time. Coming back from a business trip, found out I had a flat tire in the airport parking ramp. Was supposed to have someone come out within 45 minutes and over two hours later I'm still stuck at the airport! Did I receive any notification from Bobby and Steve's about being late? NO. Am I the one that has had to call and reach out to multiple times to get an ETA? YEP. Any apologies? NOT REALLY. The first time I called to see why they were late, the driver was "lost" and had the wrong address to the airport. REALLY? What kind of driver doesn't know how to get to the airport? If you looked up incompetence and bad service in the dictionary, it would read Steve and Bobby's. Is it that difficult to call a customer and let them know you are going to be late and why? Oh and apologize? Why am I the one that has to stalk you guys to do your job??? All in all, I know I will NEVER use these guys again. Was in the area for two consecutive weeks and bought gas both weeks. I have a Subaru with good gas mileage, as I drive mostly highway miles. I barely reached 200 miles a tank (176 and 192). Bought gas at my neighborhood SA after that and was back up to 272/tank. I will avoid ever buying gas at this station. read more

Worst service of all time. My car had a dead battery, so Progressive sent Bobby and Steve's out to tow my 99 Ford Taurus to my mechanic. I had to go to work, so I left the keys in the car per instructions. Progressive informed the tow operator that the keys were "next to the cigarette lighter". There's only one cigarette lighter in the car, it's exposed and is practically the first thing you see when you look inside the car. I took my break at work, saw that I had missed a few calls that I had no hope of answering, and called Bobby and Steve's back to see what the problem was. They said that the tow operator was not able to find the keys (????) and had left. Not only is it only possible to not have seen the keys if the guy didn't actually even look in the vehicle, but the guy on the phone gave me some of the worst customer service ever. He practically spat their tow policy at me, and was beyond rude and unhelpful. He stopped just short of telling me that it was my fault, and said that if I wanted them to tow the vehicle that I would have to get back in line - with a ten-hour estimate. Not only did they inconvenience me, but my poor mechanic waited 30 minutes past his closing time for my car to arrive. Progressive sent me another truck (who found the keys, by the way, because it's not the Magic Eye) and when I asked them not to send Bobby and Steve's Auto World to me ever again, they asked if I had a complaint against B&S. My car died on the road & I called AAA. A Bobby & Steve's tow truck driver came and towed the car to my service garage. Although the driver had to pass my house on his way back to the freeway, he would not even drop me off. I was very plesant, & I felt this to be rude & uncourteous of him. It had been a trying day already, & the extra unpleasantness of the driver didn't help. A little consideration would have gone a long way. The genuine care given to a customer will always bring them back, an unpleasant experience will not. I haven't had them do anything more than oil changes and car washes, but they seem to be pretty solid and fast. Usually the price for a simple oil change is 2-3 times what it might be elsewhere, but as long as you take advantage of a groupon or other deal, you'll be in good shape. I liked that the last time I had my oil changed, I didn't get a sales pitch for replacing this or that filter or fluid. Just got what I came for and went on my way. Works for me. read more

Ended up with a flat yesterday. No fun. Called my insurance to get a tow, and after that mess, I got a text saying they would arrive within 60 minutes. 50 minutes later, a young guy from this location drives up and explains that someone else was supposed to tow my car, but because the other guys were going to take so long, his shop decided to take care of it. He was so nice, and even said that this location could get the tire fixed immediately. Unfortunately, they didn't have the exact tire I needed on hand, but they sent someone over to Mendota Heights for it. Awesome! A little luck, but also some very friendly service. Run!!! Scam!! My 2012 Chevy Cruze was towed there and recommended by AAA. Bad idea. After checking the idiot said the oil has not been changed in 20000 miles (old sticker he saw, Einstein did not bother to look in the glove compartment) and said I need a new tranny at 5000 dollars and couldn't guarantee it would be fixed. Then got mad I wanted second opinion and charged 120 bucks to look at it. Next day had it taken to dealership (which I thought would be a fortune) and found out the tranny did not need to be replaced at all but they did have to fix some things and it came out to $1500. Still a lot of money but thankful I did not get scammed at Bobby and Steves because I am not rich and need my car. Got it back today and happy. Guess what they say about dealerships ripping people off isn't true. Edited just to add that I see a pattern with these reviews. I've been going to B & S's for years (mostly the Bloomington location, but I have visited the Nicollet location once). They've done my oil changes, new tires, etc. I dig their perks: when you get an oil change, you get a free car wash; when you get new tires, you get your choice of a perk (I took a $120 credit towards oil changes! Huge!). Things like this make me a repeat customer. The guys in the service center are kind and patient .. even on days when I'm tired and cranky and the last thing I want to do is have my car maintenanced, even though its necessary. :) But recently, I had a really great customer service experience: long story short, I got new tires, a couple of months later, had an issue, and Kip at the Bloomington location was kind enough to help sort out a way to provide some credit. They didn't 'have' to do that but they were kind enough to present an option and as a result, provided exceptional customer service. Car stuff can be stressful, expensive, and a pain in the A. I appreciate the folks at Bobby & Steve's and will continue using them as my go-to service provider for my car. read more
