After a December incident I called in January to schedule an estimate. The gal couldn't get me in for even an estimate for three weeks, I took the appointment anyways. A few days later I called to cancel the appointment. The same gal answered, she would not cancel my appointment. I called back a few days later, a different woman took my call. I again requested a cancellation as I told her I had scheduled the repair elsewhere. The woman started to read a note on my name, she stopped... agreed to cancel my appointment. I never had any work done but I still shudder when passing here on 61 as I just can't grasp that she thought she could block me from cancelling an estimate. Gotta say that their customer service is GREAT! The young man, Erick Barrita, was impressive with his handling of my fender clips. I noticed the fender flapping around and stopped at LaMettry's to see what fixing it would take. Erick came out, looked at the fender and figured out the part number. I went over to Toyota again and ordered the part and told them to,deliver it to Erick. The next week, on Monday, the part was there. I went over and Erick installed the clip and resolved the problem. I've been to this LaMettry's before, sadly for me I've used LaMettry's several times over the years. This time was not my fault! This was my 2nd job with this location. I was rear ended and brought in my Forester in either Nov or Dec 2021 - can't remember exact date. Communication was lacking. It lacked the first time as well but this was worse. I asked 3 times for the promised gift card to an area restaurant. It was for $100 or $200 so it was well worth asking for. Each time I was told "next time you're in" or "they're locked in the safe". So. In other words, no gift card. Don't promise something you're not going to deliver. My Forester seems fine. I should add, last summer I talked to the manager about the first job (for my GTI). Somehow a light has not been properly hooked up from that pretty major reconstruction. He was very nice and told me they'd take care of it. It's my fault at this point for still not making it in with that one. read more

Was a happy Maplewood LeMettrys customer from previous repairs in the past. Even recommended my dad take his BMW there for repairs last winter for a State Farm claim. Had to make an appointment a week out just to have it looked at. Upon arrival, the shop had not received any paperwork from State Farm. The estimator was not available so a lady went out and took pictures. An appointment 1.5 weeks later was set for the work to actually start. Once in their possession, no estimated completion date was ever given. After a couple of weeks, car was finally ready. On the morning my dad went to pick up his car, it was covered in snow from being left outside overnight and completely unable to be started. The had to let it charge up for several minutes before it would start. After a few hours, my dad asked me to go start his car. Nope. Dead. Upon opening the trunk (where the battery is), I noticed the plastic latch to access the battery was broken. I suspected LeMettrys broke it that morning accessing the battery to jump start it. My dad confirmed he has never even touched that latch so it had to be someone at the shop. I brought the issue up with the manager assigned to my dads car, and he was useless and of no help. I asked for his boss and had to deal with the general manager. The GM wanted to see it in person so I had to drive it back. His initial suggestion was I buy a new latch and LeMettrys would replace it for free. I declined that offer since we did not break it. Only after I threatened bad reviews did he come around to taking full responsibility. Fast forward to June this year. My sisters car was hit and suffered damage to her rear bumper. LeMettrys gave a fair estimate for self-pay job of replacing the bumper along with a new reflector, so I thought we'd give them another try. Again, needed to wait 2 weeks for an appointment to start the work. Car was in their possession for 7 Business days in total for a bumper and reflector replacement - no structural or body repairs at all. The car manager texted me and told me it was ready to be picked up. Big mistake is to pay before inspecting the work. While going over the work, the manager specifically pointed out how LeMettrys guarantees its quality. My eyes immediately spot a bubble and stream of excess clear coat. I was hoping it was just water, but it wasn't. Painter missed it. Car manager missed it. No quality control at all. The car manager said he would pull it in to have it corrected. What the tech did was scrape the bubble off and it looked worse. I scolded the manager for wasting my time and left the car there for them to properly buff that excess off. Left message with both the original car manager and GM with my displeasure. This location is too busy and their quality control and personal touch has declined greatly. read more

A friend of ours accidentally backed into our car, causing some minor damage to the door. We worked with Lamettry's in Richfield originally to get an estimate. Then, we moved to the east side of the Twin Cities, so we had Lamettry's in Maplewood do the work for us. They seemed friendly and professional, getting our car in for repair in a timely fashion. The problems arose when we went to pick it up. We have a manual transmission vehicle (stick shift). It is standard practice to ALWAYS use the parking brake when parking a vehicle - especially when you have a manual transmission as the car will roll/move if it's not set. This is taught in driver's ed and is in the owner's manual of every vehicle. Unfortunately, these auto "professionals" do not follow 1) common sense 2) standard driving practice and 3) policies outlined by vehicle manuals because they did not use the parking brake when parking our vehicle. So, when getting in to the vehicle and starting it, it sprung backward a few feet (because these geniuses not only didn't use the parking brake, but they also left it parked in 1st gear versus neutral) - hitting another vehicle in their lot. Then, the staff there basically demeaned us saying it's not their problem and that they don't follow standard driving practice. Huh? I then called the General Manager of the store, Joe Larson, to discuss this issue because I didn't feel it was fair that we be 100% liable when they could have simply followed proper driving practice and avoided this whole mess. After much back and forth, Joe Larson agreed they would split the costs with us 50/50. I agreed to that, and then emailed him to see what the final total was. He then informed me that he already submitted it to my insurance and that I was basically screwed. This shop not only demonstrated a high level of ignorance by not following a standard practice specifically outlined in the vehicle manual - but then was deceptive and unethical. UPDATE: I was able to speak with the COO who was very professional and responsive to my concerns. He apologized for my experience and offered to uphold the compromise I had previously negotiated. I have changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars because of this. I advised him that they really should have a policy about this - or at least let owners know so it doesn't happen again. It sounds like they are going to consider adjusting their policies/practices. If it weren't for this unfortunate incident, I would give them 5 stars. read more

My new car was spray painted and I brought it to LaMettry's in Maplewood to get it cleaned. They were very friendly and did a fantastic job getting the paint off. I would definitely recommend going to them if your car is vandalized. read more

I was very disappointed with the level of service provided by LaMettry's Collision and will NEVER return! Someone ran into my car while shifting lanes causing some damage to the vehicle. The driver was not the owner, but the owner's insurance company agreed to make the repairs after providing information about the incident and photos of damage. The insurance company provided an estimate based on that information. I was told that if there was more damage after the repair shop had it broken down they could submit a supplement. I decided to take the car to LaMettry's based on previous experience and satisfaction. I dropped the car off at LaMettry's on Januray 29 and was told that the car would be taken apart and damage determined and someone would get back to me. Two days later the John, the person in charge of my car called and told me that there was more damage and that the information was being sent to the insurance company. He followed up with "I will be out of town until next Wednesday so don't expect to hear anything until then." The extent of the damage, from a cost perspective was approximately $1,600. A repaired bumper and color match, new wheel rim and alignment, but nothing major. All in all they had the car for 25 days! When I picked up the car they sent someone out, who was brand new, to go over the car with me. I noticed that the left front fender had not been repaired. While there was some rust on it, the fender had been scratched by the impact of the other car. I asked to speak with John who came out and he said they had agreed with the insurance company not to fix that part. Later I called the insurance company and the adjustor came to my home and said they missed that and it should have been repaired. I also asked John, when I picked up the car if the tires had held pressure as that was an issue. He said yes, the tires had been holding pressure. Not happy about any of this, I drove off and my tire pressure light was on and the tire/rim that had been repaired was the one with low pressure. I now have the car at a repair shop and was told that the valve stem on the repaired rim and tire was leaking. As I was driving the vehicle there was a rattle that had not existed before. I took the car back that afternoon and asked for the manager as John was no longer trustworthy. The manager came out, somewhat reluctantly and took the car back to be checked. He came back with part of the spring that had cracked off and said this was causing the rattle and it happens often with VWs. He patted me on the back and said, well it won't rattle now. Why did no one hear or see this when they were underneath the car? The service was slow, I felt like I was lied to and dismissed. So, if you are considering taking your vehicle to LaMettry's in Maplewood, think again. There customer care and service have obviously diminished over time. read more

I am just picking my car up from the maple location, being serviced by John. I will have to say that I am SORELY disappointed yet again with the level of service from this place. The person before me got their car pulled in and inspected in the dry bay while I was left to walk to my car in the pouring rain. What a JOKE! I should have learned my lesson the first time dealing with your organization. Once again completely substandard service from one the supposed "best in the TC" paint and body shops. Had my car repaired at LaMettry's a year ago. Quick timely service and the paint matches better then factory.

The repair was well done, but the process was prolonged and very distressing. This was a fairly minor bumper repair on a drivable car and we were told it would be a 2-3 days. It turned out to be a long, distressing two and a half weeks. LaMettry's staff communicated very poorly internally, and did not communicate well with the paying insurance company. All communication problems were dropped back into my lap to resolve. I have had excellent customer service from LaMettry's in the past, and was very surprised by this experience. I will not use LaMettry's again if they do not have a contract with the paying insurance company. read more

My car was rear ended on Jan 2, 14. MN has had such intense weather this year with lots of accidents in the metro. The soonest they could get my car in was Feb 6th. That's totally understandable because of the amount of accidents .....they were very busy. I have a Mercedes E350 which needed special parts so during the month I waited for my appointment, they had already reserved the special parts necessary. I went to pick it up 7 days later and noticed there was a scratch on the trunk that wasn't there before. I told the Manager, and she seemed hesitant at first but I explained that I had photo's on my phone of that area from the day I brought it in for repair and there was no scratch. They agreed to fix it and said it would take 2 more days. Well, they called the next day and it was ready! I picked it up and it is beautiful. They did a nice job and were fair and friendly to deal with. I would go back there again (but I sincerely hope its not due to another crash....stupid snow and ice...hahahhahah) read more

My spouse brought her car to LaMetry's Collision Center in Maplewood to get some body work done. At the same time asked if they could rotate the tires. The next day they call and say the rear tires are too worn to put on the front and try to sell her an $800 set of tires. The car has 27000 miles on it. I went and inspected the tires....they are easily good for another 20-25K miles. I confronted the shop and they had one lame excuse after another. Think twice about working with this type of company.....god knows how often this happens.....pathetic. read more

I have done business with LaMettry's several times in the past. They are the first place I think of and the first place I go when in need of auto body work. This time I had several small spots of surface rust that needed attention before winter so I went to LaMettry's for assistance/advice. Dillon C told me that since I caught the areas early, I could apply touch up paint and clear coat (get both from your dealer) to those spots. I had no idea what that process involved (and was nervous about not doing it correctly) so he told me to go get the paint and he would show me how to do it. When I returned to LaMettry's, he showed me how to clean the surface, how to apply the paint, how long to wait for it to dry and then how to apply the clear coat, which seals in the paint. I asked him what I owed him. He smiled and said "no charge." I was blown away because I expected to pay for this great service. A few days later I unfortunately caught a couple more surface rust spots. Again, I was a bit nervous in what the heck I was doing and went to LaMettry's. This time Mike Hoff assisted me. He realized I was a previous customer and he applied the paint and clear coat and said "no charge." I am always shocked and blown away by the AMAZING customer service you get at LaMettry's and these two times were no different. This is why I come back to them. WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. I was lied to when I went in for a price quote. First they gave me a bid for one price and they stated it would only take 2, 3 days tops to complete the work. They also stated they reserve a time slot for the work. When I dropped off my vehicle on the day and time slot agreed to, they told me the work will take up to 1 week. They stated the cost WILL increase from the their initial price quote because there are "sensors" and they HAVE to do a diagnostic check which is an automatic ($99.00). They called me this morning to give me an update. They told me the parts they ordered (brand new from the factory) were damaged (yeah right) and it will take several more days to get the new part and hopefully it is not damaged. What a ridiculous set of liars and cheaters. I would never recommend this #@@#$$ excuse for a company to anyone!!!!! read more

Our insurance company messed up our appointment and although they were completely booked up, they made it work for us. I brought my 2 month old 2015 Audi to LaMettry's Maplewood after a heartbreaking and expensive encounter with a narrow parking ramp. Eli walked the car with me and explained everything that needed to be done to put the car right again. The car was so new I decided to bite the bullet and go for the certified repair. The repair looked good until I drove the car into full sunlight and saw some swirling in the paint. Prepping for a battle I drove back to LaMettry's to show them. Instead of a battle they quickly apologized. Just as quickly they scheduled a time to bring the car back. In a few days the car was perfect in every way. Communication was great. No arguments or excuses. What I experienced was a company that is proud of their work and reputation. After this experience I'll never go anywhere else. DON'T COME HERE!!! first of all it took them 2 weeks just to make an appointment for drop off and estimate on my brand new 2012 Toyota. the appointment was then on a Tuesday which i worked that day, so i had my wife drop off the car and explain to her where and where the car was hit and scratch. she told me later that the manager "Jason" was rude and was in a rush or something. as she explained, Jason was telling her they knew all about where the scratch was. it was the front right bumper, fender and some how under the mirror that was hit and scratch. on Thursday i pick up the car (i was surprise it only took them 2 days to fix it) so i knew something wasn't right. when i pick up the car, they did not repair the mirror instead just used some touch up paint, you can clearly see the part of it. the lady that took us outside to take a look at it did not know what the hell she was saying. she was just going by the paper. she correct herself a few times. ( should of have the person that repair it explain it!!!. I DO NOT SUGGEST ANYONE GOING HERE!!! Don't use Lamettry's Maplewood if you value customer service or your time. Dropped my vehicle off at Lamettry's Maplewood location for repair of hail damage under an insurance claim and to repaint the tailgate paid out of pocket. Since an employee named Andy estimated the work would require 3 days, I scheduled the repair to coincide with travel for work. On day 2, my wife called to confirm that the car would be ready the next day and was assured it would be ready after 4:30pm or they would call us if anything changed. We arrived at 5:45pm on day 3 and were told that the paint on my vehicle was still wet and they could not provide me with a loaner car. Sensing my unhappiness at not being called when the repair work ran long, an employee named Alice quickly arranged a rental car for me to use until the next day and promised to have Andy explain why he waited until the last minute to paint my vehicle, failed to call and she offered to have my car delivered to me for my trouble. On day 4, employee Andy called to tell me the car was ready but offered no apology or explanation. When I asked for an explanation, he told me that when he left at 4pm the previous day, my car was still on schedule to be ready so it wasn't his problem. He offered a $25 gas card for my trouble. When I indicated that I was disappointed in his effort to address my lost time, he asked what I thought was fair, but hung up on me before I could suggest some possibilities, such as simply to say "I'm sorry." When I picked up my car, employee Andy was on site but unwilling to discuss my concerns. His response speaks volumes about how little Lamettry's cares for its customers and I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Scraped the side of my 2013 Toyota Sienna Van parking in my garage...[bad day!]. Since I had body work done at LaMettry's two years ago after a hit and run on same van at a shopping mall, I went back to LaMettry's to see how much it would cost to fix it; guessed it would be $500-$1000 or so. ANDY TIHANYI looked at van, said, "This should be very easy! Go to Maplewood Toyota, [almost next door] pick up a "dog leg panel cover" and come back." Got part, came back, Andy said, please give me your keys, I'll be back in a few minutes. Less than 20 minutes later, Andy T. returned to waiting area, brought me outside, van looked good as new!! Not kidding!! Turned out he was able to buff out the garage paint, replace the panel cover, which cost under $16, NO CHARGE!! I was speechless!! My van went from terrible, to like new, in less than an hour, including getting part from dealer...same day. No appointment. Unreal. When I combine the other experience with LaMettry's, [van hit and run by dishonest moron at a shopping mall] which was also very positive, insurance worked with me and shop, I have to say I will highly recommend LaMettry's, and working with Andy Tihanyi, to anyone who needs body work. I went to get an estimate, and start the process of getting van fixed, and in less time than it would take to eat dinner, all set, no charge, just the one part. LaMettry's had the lowest quote for a new windshield and installation for my car. I called and set an appointment and a really nice technician (I can't remember his name) came out to my work in Bloomington. He called me when he arrived and I came out to meet him when he was finished. I had already prepaid with my card over the phone, but I wanted to see the install as soon as it was complete. He told me that I had no rust under my windshield, so I got a warranty from LaMettry's for his work and the glass, which was a nice bonus. He also told me that he had an issue with my window trim and that it might pop out of place - the trim, not the glass. But, as he also said, I was able to call them back a few days later when this did happen, and he came to my house the next day and fixed the trim free of any additional charges. On the phone, in person, and in their billing/quoting, LaMettry's people were nice and honest. I'd recommend them to anyone who'd ask and I'd go to them again if I ever needed a new windshield. read more
