No. We don't offer a payment plan. No. We can't see you until next week. It was beginning to look hopeless. Then I called Rose Rock Dental and Koreen answered the phone. Not only did she get me an appointment that afternoon, she also set us up on a very affordable payment plan. As far as the appointment itself, I met the friendliest staff of any dentist office I have ever been too. Everyone from the front desk, to the nurses, and even the dentist himself were very empathetic and calming throughout the entire appointment. If you need a dentist because you've been putting a problem off, or, if you are just looking for a office for regular treatments, I cannot recommend Rose Rock Dental enough. Thank you, to the entire staff at Rose Rock Dental, for everything!!!!

The woman at the front desk was so friendly, warm and welcoming. Going to the dentist is usually a pretty anxiety-inducing experience for most, but this team treats you like you are family and is very patient with you. They even offer a comfort menu :) Dr. Ramsden listened carefully to my concerns and then came up with a good treatment plan. A lot of dentists tend to rush you out the door; that didn't happen here, and I appreciate that. I highly recommend Rose Rock Dental!

When I first came here I was happy. The doctor seemed very nice and personable, happy to meet a new…read morepatient and I was told I had a couple fillings that needed replacing but that they could wait a bit till the following year when I came in for my exam. When I came in for my exam I was confused because I honestly thought the man I was seeing was someone else. His demeanor was cold and he just didn't seem like the same guy (he also stopped dying his hair and had grey hair when I saw him last), he never introduced himself and just sort of got to work. I had a two and three surface filling that I was told needed to be replaced. Minor decay. It was a very forceful filling in both teeth but the bottom molar more than the top. I was extremely happy to get out of his chair. He said nothing the entire time he was working on me. I had to mention half way through I needed more novocain because it was starting to wear off (I'm not a fan of dentists who inject you for two different teeth at the same time. It makes me think they are simply going to rush through the procedure and that's never a good sign). I went in with zero pain or discomfort. I left in horrible pain that never got better. Also wasn't even offered anything for the pain. Just told that it was all normal (I have 13 fillings, it's NOT normal to feel the way I did!) and to call if I need anything. I called a couple days later about pain medication and asked to be seen again. I went back a few days later (1 week from the time of my fillings) for a bite adjustment and still was in pain. He asked me if I needed a refill on pain medication which I said "you never wrote me any Rx for pain" so he gave me one. Another week goes by and the whole time I'm in pain. I scheduled another appt. and he simply asked me how I felt, I told him the pain comes and goes but it was still bothering me and I was told "at this point I'm going to refer you out for a root canal" no real explanation, nothing else. Just a shove out the door basically with a referral to an endodontist. He didn't even want to do my root canal. A few days passed and I called to ask how long I could wait for the root canal and was told I shouldn't wait and that they needed to do a test to see if I needed one. Wait...what?! I was just referred because I "needed" one and now I "may" need one?! I was confused. I called the endodontist and they said that they would do some tests and take an X-ray and see if I in fact needed one. So apparently I didn't need one, I may need one. To me that's a HUGE difference when I am basically about to undergo a irreversible dental procedure. Needless to say at this point I wanted a second opinion. I scheduled an appt with a dentist whom my family holds in high regard and went in to see him. He took a look at a new X-ray he did, did the cold-pressure-air test (all unfounded) and a few others and decided to check my bite. It was clear right off the bat that my tooth behind the one that was filled was hitting hard on the tooth but not the filling. After a few bite adjustments he determined I did NOT need a root canal (at least not at this point) and said to come back in a week if it's still hurting and to try to keep off it for a while, as I am a "clencher" and this could have caused the pain I was in (one of the first things I said to Dr. Lavelett). For cleanings and exams they are fine. When it comes to fillings I would steer clear. I really liked the receptionist, she's very kind and most of the staff are nice but I just didn't have a good impression on the Dr. after my second time seeing him. Not sure why his demeanor has changed so much, but that's not what I look for in a dentist.

I've been a patient at Norman Smile Center for over a decade and initially appreciated the care I received there. I have an AT gene mutation, which increases radiation sensitivity. Until recently Dr. Campbell sympathized with my special situation and that I have to be more careful than her average patient. I need to weigh risk-benefit assessment with everything that involves radiation due to how that can compound and break down my DNA. Although one x ray won't cause cancer, studies have shown it can compound over time in someone with AT mutation and can increase cancer risk in the long run. Therefore assessing benefit and risks is important in my case. Due to my circumstance, Dr. Campbell initially agreed to bitewing x rays every 2 years--aligned with ADA guidelines for low-risk patients like me (no cavities since approx 2015, which were my first ever and were 4 small interproximal cavities due to HG in 2 pregnancies). I appreciated her concern for my health and was grateful for her care. However on my last routine visit, without warning, she told me I had to get bitewings, just one year after my last set, or she'd refuse to see me at that appointment. I was blindsided because my dental history hasn't changed, and forcing annual x rays feels unnecessary and dismissive of my genetic concerns. I have four children and finding a time to visit the dentist isn't an easy thing for me so I had no choice but to agree to the x rays since she gave me an ultimatum that I agree to x rays or leave. I was also surprised when I was told I would need a panoramic x ray at my next visit in 6 months, despite no symptoms or issues justifying it. The ADA says panoramics should only happen when they'll impact care--not on a routine schedule--yet my concerns about both type of x rays were brushed off as I was handed a sheet saying how much radiation is in bananas and going outside. I wasn't as prepared as I should have been since this was sprung on me, but since then I've been made aware of the ALARA principle, a key standard in radiation safety that emphasizes keeping radiation doses as low as possible. Given my genetic condition, and the lack of clear need for a panoramic x ray, I believe following ALARA further supported limiting my exposure to dental radiation only when it's necessary. After years of trust, this sudden inflexibility and push for unneeded procedures (exposing me to extra radiation against my documented health needs) leaves me disappointed and looking forward to moving my care to new dentist who listens instead of issues ultimatums. Avoid this dentist if you value personalized care over rigid policies, because unfortunately something changed and you won't find that here anymore. -Ramona Heitt

Over the past year or so, I've had repeated billing issues -- told I had a large credit and owed nothing, only to get a bill the next month, then another for the same amount even after calling to fix it. I also had my worst filling experience here, where the cavity got overfilled, changing it's shape, and ended up getting a much more expensive and painful root canal to fix it. Today was the final straw. I had a 4:00 PM cleaning booked months ago and took time off work for it. At 2:06 PM, while in a meeting, I got a text asking me to confirm because someone else wanted my slot. Fourteen minutes later, they canceled my appointment via voicemail and gave it away -- no warning, no call, no mention of any new confirmation policy, not even the courtesy of enough time to check my phone. In nearly ten years, I've never missed an appointment and have rarely replied to reminder texts (I literally only have record of confirming once out of 4x a year for a decade), so this came out of nowhere. When I called, the manager was dismissive and acted like it was normal and acceptable to cancel a pre-scheduled appointment an hour before, which is absurd and awful customer care. People have jobs and responsibilities. Canceling with less than two hours' notice because someone else wanted the time I already committed to shows no respect or care for patients. Even their billing department takes longer than 14 minutes to return a call. I truly love several of the hygienists and have been loyal for years, but the management's lack of compassion, accountability, and basic customer service skills has made it impossible to recommend this office anymore. If you want a cleaning today, they might bump another patient for you... just don't count on keeping your appointment.
