Went here today and got the drunken noodles the pad see ew and papaya salad. Everything taste great. The salad was super fresh and flavorful. The noodles were such large portions for the price. Service is outstanding super attentive. I highly recommend.

July 16, 2025 | El Monte | Bobby Thai was a delicious surprise! A group of friends, and I had a shareable lunch together & what a yummy feast it was! Variety of soups, Pad Thai, and Curry, oh my! Hahaha! We loved it! Pad Thai | My Main Dish: Delicious with a bit of sweetness, & the perfect amount of crispiness to my flavorful tofu, which I enjoyed! I would easily order this dish again! Portions are huge here as well! Thai Iced Tea: Yummy! One of the best Thai Iced teas I've ever had! Warm Welcome: Incredibly friendly customer service! We were checked on constantly throughout our meal and easily with a smile! Parking: Free! Parking space is right up front! Overall: Yes, I would easily visit again! In fact, I'm looking forward to trying more dishes on the menu, including the Taro Milk Tea & shrimp fried rice! Thanks again, our meal was delicious in a very relaxed atmosphere!

Peanut sauce on chicken satay...mild. tastes better than it looks.

He said his name is Bond. Just like James Bond. Five stars for friendly warm welcoming service. Bond even recognized my companion who had dined here a week or so ago. Its a casual low-key place,...spacious dining room. Serving up solid Thai food thanks to Bonds' mom and dad in the kitchen. The Bobby of Bobby Thai has retired, so abundant is his nephew. There's a larger location in the Santa Clarita Valley under another name, but Bond us determined to bring this location to its former glory. I ordered chicken satay, which comes as three large flattened skewers, and a container of peanut sauce which is nice, a little runny, no chunks of peanut, but it's tasty without being thick or too peanutty. It also came with a red sauce but looked spicy, so pass. Didn't cone with a vinegar cucumber condiment like at other places but no matter, we dove in and enjoyed it. It's not a dainry satay, but very hearty, so the light peanut sauce works. 5/5 I also ordered to share the pineapple fried rice, hold the shrimp. There's no egg in this dish which is better for me. I'm allergic to egg and to shrimp. I should have asked for the shrimp on the side so my companion could eat it. Next time. The pineapple was juicy....there were raisins cashews and chicken along with some beef too...there's a curry flavor which surprised me....in fact this dish was awesome as a leftover two days later 5/5 it's nice freshly made but overnite that curry rice was darn tasty. 5/5 I took a star off bec if the plastic utensils, the Styrofoam takeout....your food comes to the table already in takeout containers....we decided to dine in so plates, forks knives....to make it less of a take out and mire of a destination restaurant, but they are short handed and probably compensate by making your meal to go at the get go. No need a dishwasher!! Plenty of free parking in Titos Plaza. No problem with credit cards.

Pan and his younger sister Nan are so nice in this clean and cozy restaurant!

Bobby Thai on Garvey in El Monte is back open after a complete remodel. Best Thai restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley and definitely one of the best in Los Angeles. I'm going to Thailand in a few weeks but I'm so glad I have Bobby Thai close to home!

    A3. Fried Tofu

Located in Tito's Plaza with lots of free parking. Called in my order and was ready in 15 minutes. They accept credit cards. Ordered fried tofu and rad na chicken. The fried tofu was perfectly fried and I loved the sauce that came with it. Wasn't the typical sweet chili sauce from the bottle. The rad na was filing and delicious. I only wish they gave the noodles in a larger to go tray instead of packed into the to go Chinese takeout square container. The chicken and sauce were separate in a to go soup container. I had to mix on my own plate and the noodles were all stuck together in a large cube shape. There are tables instead. Front counter staff were friendly.

Came back after their remodel, and its still really good! You can tell the owner really cares about his customers. He's so nice! Had Khao Soi noodles again, again very very very good!

Khao Soy You must try this.

I went to Bobby Thai in El Monte and asked what they reccomended. He learned that I once lived in Chiang Mai and suggested Khao Soy (N8 Curry Noodles), a dish that originated in Northern Thailand. I ordered that without a second thought. Finding Khao Soy is very difficult. It is a noodle dish served in a very mild yellow curry. If you have never had it, you must try it. It was absolutely delicious and authentic since the owner and staff are from Northern Thailand . The service is awesome. The staff was very attentive to all the customers in the restaurant. It is a small quaint locally owned place with sufficient space for everyone. I highly recommend this place. I will be back.

Guys. This has to be hands down the best Thai food I have ever tried. Normally I thought Ochas would beat my standards, but this Thai place skyrocketed them. Next time I am going to try the Tom Kah and update this, but I just know i am not going to be disappointed. I am a very picky eater when it comes to Thai food, but like I said it was just overall so amazing and I am so in love with this restaurant. Shoutout to my girl Nanny! Such a sweet soul. -J The food is very very good, while the dinnerware is paper plates and the dishes come in to go boxes, the food is definitely worth it. The spicy drunken noodles were the highlight of the meal and def the fish to get. Also meeting the owners was very cool and it is rewarding as consumers to support local family owned businesses. -K Overall. We love this place! This is our new favorite? PORTIONS WERE ELITE! We both got full and didn't even finish the plates! So that's exciting!

Wanted Thai food and spotted this place on Yelp with very high ratings so headed over to try it out. Located inside Tito's Plaza. Food is served in plastic to go containers, styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. Felt very odd eating with all that plastic inside a restaurant, especially with hot soup in a togo container. Requested for actual plates and bowls and he brought over melamine/plastic bowls and plates, which felt a bit better than styrofoam and clear plastic containers. Iced coffee is very sweet and the taste of coffee is barely there, just a sugary brown drink. 6 metal tables inside, no outdoor dining. Pad Thai is overly sweet and sauced up. Was hard to eat. Never had a failed pad Thai so was extremely surprised. Free extra rice offered. Seafood hot pot was ok . The person running the show was a kind super sweet gentleman. Very friendly service. He offered complimentary rice refill and water. Such a bummer that the food was too sweet and the style is more like street food presentation.

What a find! You get so much food for what you pay. We couldn't finish what we ordered in one sitting. We loved the flavor and it came with a fair amount of meat. Spicy Noodles: This is essentially Pad Kee Mao and this was our favorite of the two orders. We got medium spicy, which was a spicy that builds but doesn't hurt. It had a good amount of basil and soy sauce flavor. Pad Thai: This was very good, but a little sweeter and saucy-er than what I'm normally used to. The lime slice helped to add a bit of zing to the dish. We opted to dine in. Our entrees were served in take-out boxes. We were also provided styrofoam plates and forks.

First time at this location and I decided to order for pickup. The process was smooth, and my food was ready pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The flavors here are a bit different compared to other Thai places I've tried--unique in a good way. The dish I ordered was tasty, though I did find it a tad on the salty side. Still, it was enjoyable, and I'm curious to try some of their other dishes next time I'm in the area.

The dish is consistently packed with lots of protein, spice, and savory goodness! The noodles are always perfectly well-coated and cooked in the delicious umami sauce. The BBQ ribs, Chicken satay, and steak salad plates with fried rice are also wonderful dishes.

I moved to the SGV a little over a year ago and I have been sorely disappointed by offerings this nook of LA county has to offer *ahem banana bay*. I found myself driving to the SFV or Thai Town whenever I was too lazy to cook Thai food on my own. I decided to take a gamble with this restaurant and I am so very glad that I did. It's so good and authentic that I have come out of yelp retirement (Yelp Elite 2016-2020) to leave this review. I ordered four things as take out: Issan Sausage, Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken, Spicy Fried Crispy Cat Fish, and Drunken Noodles. I was told that they were out of the Kra Pow Century Egg and stewed pork leg over rice. Hopefully, I'll get to try it next time! Issan Sausage: Good portions. Flavor is very good, a little sour, a little salty, and a hint of sweetness. I think the flavors could be a bit more bold with the sour but overall the flavors profile is as it should be. Frying it also added a nice crispiness to it. Spicy Fried crispy Catfish: Flavors were really good. Sweet foods is typically not usually in my flavor profile, but this is one of the few sweet entrees I actually like. Catfish can be a bit more fried but that is moreso a preference on my part. Drunken Noodle Beef: Good char on the noodles. Flavor was really good as well. Not that much beef but the star of the show are the noodles. I was a tad confused on the egg in my drunken noodle but to each their own. I would probably order it without the egg next time because it does change the texture a bit. Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken: Now here's where it gets interesting! Tantawan actually uses holy basil (Kra Pow). It's harder to find but it has a very distinct flavor that Thai-American cuisine has for the most part substituted due to scarcity with Thai Basil (Horapha). I don't think you can get more authentic than actually using the right herb. Funnily enough, I think it can throw off people that have never had authentic Kra Pow as my partner said it tasted herbally. Thai food can be very hit and miss even among the Thai community as we all have different preferences when it comes to the holy trinity of sweet, salty, and sour. I am personally on the spectrum of sweet should be hinted at and never the forward flavor. Tantawan with the dishes I ordered definitely held to my flavor profile. Very well cooked and good flavor profile. I didn't have to add any seasoning as everything was cooked just right. I called my take out in and they said it would be ready in 20 and it was when I arrived. Even as the food sat in my passenger seat as I drove home I could tell from the smell emanating from the take-out bag that the food was going to be good. Quick and courteous service!

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.

We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Overall, my husband and I had a great first impression. We're already talking about coming back in the near future. Okay, so here is a recent update. My first review was for the first few times I came when they…read morefirst opened years ago, and it was excellent. The husband ran the front of house with charm and warmth and the wife I believe did most of the cooking. I stopped going after I had a not so good experience maybe a year later. They didn't seem to be able to get their liquor license and the food that last time was not as good as it had always been. Well, cut to a couple months ago, and not sure where to grab something quick on a school night, I decided to just bite the bullet and try it again, and I'm generally happy I did. The place is pretty busy these days. And, gone for now at least are the mom and pop, probably because they opened a second location near Old Town Pasadena opposite Huntington Hospital. They're probably there making sure everything can run smoothly. So me and the boyo ordered the fried wontons and the chicken sate appetizers. The fried wontons came out and were excellent. The chicken sate we ordered charred and well done, but not only did it arrive rather pale and sad despite still tasting very good, it only came at the very end of our meal. In fact were trying to get a waitress over to cancel the sate, assuming they had forgotten it completely at this point, when the other waitress ran into the kitchen and ran the plate to us. No one enjoys finishing their meal with an appetizer. Which brings me to my only other complaint, but it is why they didn't get a five star review. Service sucked, and I can't even blame it on the two lone young women left to handle the entire busy restaurant. Sorry, but they need to hire some more service help. Even one more waiter/waitress would help immensely. You could tell the main server was overwhelmed and a super large party in the middle only made her life more difficult. Still, she knew a couple who are probably regulars and a one point sat down to have a nice long chat with them while I struggled to get anyone's attention. She needs some better training on scanning a dining room before running back to the kitchen. We had to leave our hand raised for minutes each time we needed service of any kind, and that is not acceptable. Back to the food. For mains I got the cashew chicken at a spice level 2 and honestly I could've gone to a spice level 3 easily. I like spicy, and the only reason I held back was that Thai and Indian restaurants love to punish anyone who goes for a high number spice level like it's a contest of wills. Still, the dish was excellent. The boyo had the chicken panang curry and it was also fantastic. Of all the panang curries we've ever ordered, this had the most chicken we've ever gotten. You're usually left hungry pouring curry over rice once the chicken is gone, but this place gives you enough to chicken to make it a real entree. The only shame past the service and the missing appetizer arriving long after we had finished our mains and were ready to cancel it and just leave was the fact they have finally gotten their liquor license over these past few years. I should have been happy, but they honestly have chosen the worst tasting house sake for hot sake I've ever had. I've had cheap sake (the kind you usually order hot), and many of the most expensive sakes (always served cold), and this one they have I will never order again. Anyway, the bottom line is the owners need to hire another server and better train the ones they have to scan the entire restaurant every time they are in the dining room. Maybe get a better hot sake, but that's up to them. Otherwise, the food is back on point, and I highly recommend a trip to Thai Thyme. I even look to try the second location soon. Try it!
