I've neve been to Taiwan but I imagine that this restaurant is close to what they serve there. My family likes the beef noodle soup here and recommends it to friends. Pricing is more than other places but the portion is large enough to have leftovers or feed two so it's acceptable. I get the tendon only beef noodle soup, as I like the texture of well cooked tendon so much. The flavor of the broth is rich and concentrated. The noodles have a bouncy chew texture and doesn't soak up the broth even when refrigerated overnight. The amount and size of tendon they give here is phenomenal, never seen quality and quantity like this really justifies the pricing. The wonton soup is also a large portion, that is sharable. The wontons are different from Hong Kong style, a big size and just ground meat no shrimp. I wouldn't order this again as the beef noodle soup is just so much better. Chilled cucumber salad was addicting and small enough portion to be finished off in one sitting. Crunchy and marinated in a quick pickle this was so yummy as a side dish. You can order soup to-go or even refrigerated so you can reheat at home in your own convenience. Limited menu but if you do one thing right it's all you need. My boyfriend and I consider ourselves beef noodle soup connoisseurs, we order beef noodle soup at almost every Taiwanese restaurant we go to, and the one here at Corner Beef Noodle House is among the best, if not the best, we've ever had. The broth was extremely rich and deep in flavor, the noodles were springy and bouncy, the Bok choy was fresh and crunchy, and the beef was cooked so well. It was so impressive. So soft and tender. They also gave us a small side of pickled mustard greens which served as a palate cleanser in between rich mouthfuls of the soup I couldn't stop drinking. Not to mention the portions here are great! We both left full and satisfied, and the price was so reasonable. I cannot recommend this place enough. The service as good; our waitress came to refill our water several times. The restaurant was also reasonably busy for weekend lunchtime, but we didn't have to wait outside in the heat which adds another plus in my opinion. I already have my go-to's in the LA and OC areas, but this being Christmas Day, some of those places were closed. And so, as I was feeling some beef noodle soup, I looked and I found! Corner Beef Noodle House did the trick and hit the taste buds, but it also is not quite as amazing as my already-established go-to's in the area. Location: Corner Beef is located in a plaza, which is good for parking. That said, the parking lot does tend to still get crowded (from the other tenants of the plaza)! I was able to get a good parking spot though. Service: It's seat yourself as you walk in, but there isn't a sign or anything to say this. As I was waiting, props to the one server who has to serve everyone, but she also didn't turn at all as I entered and didn't acknowledge me at all. So I chose to just seat myself after waiting a bit, asked aloud to make sure I could seat myself, and that's when she turned her head for the first time and acknowledged my presence. Friendly, yes. So overall friendly and kind, just perhaps there's something a bit off that could rub somebody with less patience the wrong way. There are plenty of tables. Also some customers. This place seems to stay at least somewhat busy. Definitely not empty, but also not crazy packed. Now on to the food! I've been here two times- first time maybe 10 years ago and I returned again recently. This time I got the tendon noodle soup, wontons, and popcorn chicken (to-go). For the noodle soup, the tendon was cooked very well where it was super soft. The soup flavor itself was good, definitely soy heavy. I normally don't like noodles that aren't super thick/chewy but there was a good bounce to the noodles here (thick noodle option). The ratio of everything was good. The wontons... a bit confusing I would say because it says chili oil wonton / sour something on the menu. There wasn't any chili oil that I could taste so I asked, and the server gave me some chili oil on the side. She warned me that it was very spicy, which was not a problem for me. I added it and it was good after. Also they were the biggest size wontons I've ever seen. Basically a dumpling. For the popcorn chicken, I would say it's decent. The batter is slightly heavy but it's more like a rustic uneven crunchiness. Overall it is still a great location for beef noodle soup. The beef noodle is pretty sweet and not very spicy at all, and I like how bouncy and slightly chewy the actual noodle strands are. They pack a lot of beef into the bowl, and each piece is tender and not tough to chew despite the look. The wontons had a strong chili smell, but it wasn't super spicy and tasted vinegary. The standout to me was the mochi - it was nice and chewy and the peanut and sesame flavoring was just right! I came here for a Thursday night since my girlfriend was craving beef noodle soup, and this is one of her favorite local spots, so I figured it was worth a try on a cold January evening. Anyway, there was no wait and we got seated on a booth. We looked at the menu, and then waited a couple minutes before the lone server was ready to take my order. She was pretty nice and quick with taking our orders, which my girlfriend and I both got beef noodle stew soup. The beef noodle soup came out pretty quick in like about 10 minutes from ordering, and it was pretty hot temperature wise. The soup base was pretty good and it wasn't spicy to me despite having a chili sign to it on the menu, which I didn't mind since I don't eat much spice these days. The noodle were of a thicker texture and it was cooked pretty well, while the beef in the bowl itself was pretty tender too. The bok choy seemed fresh as well and not overcooked. My only real complaint is that they gave a really small cup of mustard greens, which I actually prefer to have a lot more mustard greens when it comes to beef noodle soup. So I felt like that was the only thing missing to the noodle soup. For the price of $16+ too, I would at least like the option of being able to choose having more mustard greens if I wanted to. Overall though, it was a really good beef noodle soup and I would come back again to get their beef noodle soup if I was craving just that. The only thing I dislike about these small places is they don't really enforce the "no smoking" rule. Not that anyone was smoking inside but definitely ppl smoking right outside the restaurant. Came here for the first time today and the food is all pretty good! The red grain pork, pork chop, and popcorn chicken were all really good. Classic taiwanese favorites! The popcorn chicken was free after spending $70 I also really liked the wenzhou wonton soup. They are pork wontons and don't have shrimp. The beef noodle soup was ok in my opinion. I've had better at other places. And for dessert we got the hot mochi which is also one of my favorites! Service is also friendly. It was 8pm on a friday and not too crowded.
