Recently went to Bobby's to dine in. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly server. Shortly after we sat, she was there with menus and taking our drink order. She was friendly and attentive during our entire meal there. For dinner, we ordered the Montana pizza as well as some garlic bread. The pizza was really good! We enjoyed the crust and it was very generously loaded with chicken and the other toppings. The garlic bread was good, it just had a bit more cheese for my taste. The prices were reasonable and the service was good. I would definitely recommend Bobby's and return to try other pizzas. read more

Bobby's Apizza has the best pizza I have ever tasted. The owners sister lives across the block. very nice pizza including the free cookie. If I could, I would give this place 6 stars. Ample space in the parking lot, Bobby's is located in a small strip mall. The pizza is reliably delicious - at least the combos I get, typically eggplant and occasionally hot peppers either anchovies. They typically have three beers on tap and a variety of bottles. Bobby's Apizza - 1179 Foxon Rd - North Branford, CT Bobby's Apizza is a New Haven-style pizzeria that opened in North Branford, Connecticut in 1969. It was founded by restaurateur Robert Ottaviano. It was originally located in North Branford's Giant Oak Shopping Center. It moved to its current location in 1975. In 1980, Ottaviano decided to retire and sold off the pizzeria to Joseph Cappetta. Years later, Ottaviano decided to get back into the pizzeria business and opened Bob and Dee's Pizzeria in East Haven with his wife Dolores "Dee" Ottaviano. Bob and Dee's was open for several years before it closed down. Both Ottaviano and his wife have since passed away. Bobby's Apizza is still owned and operated by the Cappetta Family. They continue to make traditional New Haven-style thin crust apizza, but they have also added more gourmet pies to the menu in recent years. The Cappetta Family also puts native North Branford produce on their pies whenever it is in season. Bobby's has been a favorite pizzeria of my family for several years. Both of my parents grew up in North Branford and went to Bobby's often. One of my uncles even worked there for a time. I still remember the first time my Dad brought my brother and I there to eat pizza when we were children. We also used to get pizza at Bob and Dee's often when it was still open. Every now and then, I get a craving for a good Bobby's pizza. Some of my favorite pies there include the Native Tomato, the Clams Casino (white, clams, bacon, peppers, garlic), the Spicy Buffalo Chicken, the Mediterranean (White cheese blend, roasted red peppers, grilled chicken, marinated artichoke hearts, sliced black olives, Romano cheese, fresh garlic), and of course the Plain Mozzarella pie. I picked up three pizzas the other night to share with family, and while we've always been fans of Bobby's pizza, these three were just extra perfect! I greatly appreciate that my request for "light on the garlic" was done just right (heartburn is SUCH a struggle these days!) The Mediterranean was absolutely loaded with artichoke hearts and chicken, such a great version of a "chicken & veggie" pie. I think my new favorite is the Idahoan, with crispy bacon (not just bacon bits!) and deliciously seasoned potatoes. In fact, I'm having leftovers now and they're still excellent reheated in the oven. This is our first visit at this restaurant. They were all decorated for Christmas. We ordered 1-large (half sausage and fresh garlic, other half was mushroom and bacon. Bobby's would earn 5 stars if they updated the dining area even a smidge... their pizza is that good. The pizza any flavor is the bomb my all time favorite New Haven pizza. They have Foxon Park (locally made glass bottled sugar not corn syrup) soda. Since moving to North Branford a year ago, we have tried Bobby's twice.....twice too many. Once I had gotten a sandwich that was suppose to have grilled chicken on it and it was basically inedible. Being pregnant at the time, I needed to make sure all of my food was cooked properly. The chicken literally tasted like it was purchased from say the frozen foods dept. at a Costco in bulk and the grill marks were printed on the "meat". Another time we had gotten a pizza because we were mailed a coupon (since being new to the area) for a free pizza. Whoever took our order on the phone, he was totally rude and we almost hung up, like as if we were bothering them to place the order. If you don't enjoy your job, find something else! When we arrived to pick up the food, there were young people working the counter who kept questioning each other like they didn't know what they were doing. Needless to say, we won't be back, which is a shame considering they are rather close to our new home and Slice recently just went out of business. read more

Bobby's in North Branford is fantastic. No tourist hype or hassle and everyone's super nice. I grew up on this stuff. Joe, the owner, even gave my dad a pizza bag so we always had a hot pie at home. Oh, and the Apizza is amazing. Bobby's pie is very similar to Modern, overall even spicier with more pecorino on top; Sausage is full-on Italian fennel. Pepperoni is large and generous. At its best, Bobby's it's certainly equal to Modern, sometimes better. Gotta try this place. I give it 5 stars as a *restaurant* because when you eat in, it's relaxed. Can't say the same for Wooster Street, in general. You can go through a whole pie here with your people at your own pace. Cheap pitchers of beer, and of course the Foxon Park soda. My dad drives down from Farmington just to eat at Bobby's, and it's worth it. This is what the rest of the world needs to know about Apizza. If you had places like this where you grew up, you'd just "get it" and constantly be shrugging off NY or any other thin crust ridiculousness. Grimaldis? who's that? Bobby's is a classic, truly. Best new haven pizza outside new haven. The "plain" is the way to go- amazing sauce. (For non new haveners- plain is sauce, grated cheese, and some olive oil). That's the way to tell if a pizza is good. Theirs holds up to modern and Sally's and bests Pepe's (they are so inconsistent these days!) Recommend mozz and hot cherry peppers, as well. And please don't be dumb and order a grilled chicken sandwich or complain about decor in the dining area. It's a hole in the wall, minimalist, new haven style pizza joint- and that's exactly what it's supposed to be. Get them to go or eat in with some Foxon park and be happy you're in CT and not eating any other states pizza! read more
