I live about a block away so I finally decided to visit Tolli's after a long work day! I called ahead a pizza order on a Thursday evening, and they let me know it would take 20 min, which was perfect for my commute. I parked in the parking lot where there was a lot of spaces and also ample street parking. They have a really cute patio with lights on for the warmer months, and the inside looked really nice. I follows signs for the pick up area, where there was one person waiting. A worker immediate came up. I gave him my name, he grabbed my pizza, I paid, and I was on my way! The medium pizza was significantly bigger than I expected. I got the dad's pizza since it had both clams and pesto, my two favorite toppings, and I haven't seen anything on a clam pizza in other shops. It was warm and the dough was well cooked. The pizza itself was very good. Generous amounts of clam, the pesto had a good flavor, and overall well salted which I can find lacking in other places. I will definitely be coming back whenever I need pizza. read more

So I don't often do this when I have had a bad experience, but tonight I ordered food from this place and the moment I opened my Chicken Marsala something smelled off.... Now, every place cooks differently, so I decided to try it anyway. It did not get better. After a few bites I handed it to another person who also said something is wrong.... shortly thereafter I got ill and ended up vomiting (among other things I shall not share). We called the restaurant in good faith, not even for a credit, but to prevent other people from having a similar experience if something they were serving was bad. The manager would not even get on the phone and relayed a message stating that "everything they buy is fresh". No credit, no sincerity from the owner or manager. Came here with some coworkers a few months back for happy hour after a long day at the office. Its definitely a local favorite as the bar area got busy really fast. Their happy hour menu is really appealing but I was doing a challenge when I came so didn't try much of the food. I did try the chicken wings and they were very tasty. Will definitely come back to experience the menu as the HH menu prices were very reasonable. My coworker had wine and Prosecco for their drinks and I got a seltzer water with 3 limes. Is definitely a mature older crowd for happy hour which I actually enjoyed as we were able to have our conversation without being bothered. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff was friendly but honestly I was really bummed by this restaurant. The chicken Parm was ok, but looked and tasted like it had been reheated in an oven when I ordered it. The pasta was soggy and the chicken tough. The sauce was flavorful though. I grew up in East Haven but haven't lived there since college. I also moved out of state about 9 years ago - and I hadn't had pizza from Tollis probably in a good 15 years or so. I remember always loving it, especially when they came out with their delicious Breakfast Pizza! While in town visiting family, we decided to try Tollis for the first time in so long for some takeout pizza. And wow, it's as good as I remember, even having it as takeout instead of super fresh right in the restaurant. The crust was good and thin but chewy and not overly burnt like some places do. We really enjoyed our pizzas and now Tollis may become another go-to spot for my dad and stepmom who live locally, and for me when I come to visit and need my CT pizza fix! read more

Can't believe this came out of Tollis kitchen. This was the worst pizza I've had in years! Was a small with fresh mozzarella, ricotta, meatball and basil. From the invisible basil to the tasteless meatballs, this pizza was horrible. The crust was cracker like in places and mushy in others. The sauce had no spice and no flavor, seemed watered down. Stopped in for something to eat and drink. Place was very nice and the food smelled delicious. It was cold out so I decided to try their chicken soup. So glad I did. What flavor!! Chicken, veggies and a surprise of cabbage in it. Our server was Dave because we sat in the bar area. Very nice and pleasant. Made our dining experience even better. When I first walked in the place smelled terrible. However I still processed in to establishment. When I entered, two young men sat in the dark glances at me before asking me what did I want. I informed them I wanted a table and they instructed me to go around the corner is sit wherever. As I sat down a young waitress, passed me and didn't really acknowledge me at all. However, when two others walked in, they were welcomed and got drinks right away. I walked out of the restaurant no intentions of ever coming back. Had a hankering for pizza recently so ordered a pie for delivery. I got chicken cutlet and hot cherry peppers. Sauce was decent and a good distribution of toppings too (hate when they skimp on the cutlet). What I really loved about Tolli's was the crust! Could've been better If you have bigger people in your party..... not the place to go.... I realize this may seem like a non-issue for some, however, there are 4 of us that go to New Haven every Wednesday night and try different places and then to the owl shop for after dinner cigars. We are bigger than average men, 230+ for 3 of us and an average other. The boiths are too small, but there is a boith thats a little bigger, but apparently you HAVE to have 5 people to sit there. I understand if the place was packed....... there was 1 guy in a booth. Every other table was empty. As for the pie, ehhh lets just say we will be going to the usual suspects after this experience. My bf and I decided to try Tolli's since we've been looking for a place to get good pizza. Unfortunately, this was not the place. When we walked in, we immediately felt claustrophobic with how small and cramped the dining room space was. However, the staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a large mozzarella pizza with sausage and bacon. The pizza arrived and the bacon was raw and the pizza could have benefited from another minute or two in the oven. On top of the disappointment of the pizza, we were quite surprised at the price per topping. It ended up being close to a $25 pizza which certainly wasn't worth it. It saddens me to have to write this review. I have been a loyal customer to Tolli's for years now. Sadly I have seen a huge change in both the quality of food and the delivery. We order take out from Tolli's frequently using Slice and Uber in addition to calling them directly. There has not been a time that there hasn't been some mix up with our order. Either it's the wrong pizza, or they forget the soda or the soup and the salad. Their communication regarding their takeout orders is atrocious! Tonight our pizza arrived on time but half the order was missing. By the time we got the remainder it was almost 9 pm and the pizza we received 40 minutes earlier was cold. I will state that the owners always offer to either replace the order or make it right in some way. Tonight I called the owner to say how tonight's mix up was the last straw. Tolli's delivery person is rude. I guess he doesn't know what a doorbell is because he pounds on our door like a gorilla and never wears a mask. I will look elsewhere for pizza where they don't mix up orders. Very sad indeed. read more

I was searching for a restaurant that had outdoor dining and good food. I'm a little torn given this restaurant a two or a three because outdoors was nice and the waitress was very friendly. Now let's get to the food, the pizza was less than average and you would at least expect to get one or two pepperoni slices on one slice of pizza but that was not the case. We had some fun but I would not recommend this place for pizza nor mozzarella sticks. Those seem to be out of a box and it just did not measure up to a quality for a restaurant. One more thing that really shocked me because I eat out all the time in an average pizza will cost you around $20-$23 which is fine for a gourmet pizza. However, when you get your bill it seems like they charged you $27 just for the bread then they charge you for the cheese, next the sausage and the pepperoni. Are you going to charge me for a pizza charge me for pizza and at least have a cheese pizza in place. I was happy that they seem to be following guidelines for social distancing. If you want to get out and just enjoy the outdoors then that's fine but I was looking for good pizza too. read more

I kept reaching out to the app where I ordered it from, Slice, and called the restaurant as well. I kept getting the same excuse.
