I have now used Victory three times. Jeff is my 'go to'!…read more The first time used Victory Plumbing I needed a back-up hot water tank that had failed removed. The project required disconnecting and capping the water lines; disconnecting and capping the gas line; capping the exhaust line; and removal and disposal of the tank. Len the Plumber quoted $1100. Jeff was able to complete the job for $450. Last month, while traveling out of town, my wife called to tell me the hot water tank was leaking. I gave her Jeff's number and asked he to call him, telling him that I would be back in town in early afternoon. Jeff and his apprentice met me at 3:30pm as arranged and replaced my tank within 90 minutes. It was relief to have a professional available for an 'emergency' that I could count upon to show up on time and take care of the problem immediately. Two days ago, Jeff came out and was able to quickly diagnose and repair a small gas line leak on my fireplace within a very short period of time. His work is always neat ,efficient, and reasonably priced. Lastly, when you call the number, Jeff is the person that answers... and he always answers his phone unless both hands are in a project at that moment.

After they left I was pleased with their work until I tried to flush by toilet. The handle of the toilet was loose and the mechanism inside the tank was not flushing properly. I had a very disappointing experience with Wallace Plumbing, specifically Derrick, and I would not…read morerecommend him for backflow service. My home is only about two years old, yet Derrick initially made it seem as though I might need my entire brass backflow assembly replaced. His diagnosis kept changing throughout the visit. I even had to ask whether he had flushed the system before testing it. After he flushed it, he acknowledged that the valve was working. He also did not initially have the proper flat tool needed to open the plate on the assembly and had to leave and come back with additional tools. For someone who repeatedly told me he was a master plumber and does this work all the time, that was concerning. Last year, Anne Arundel Plumbing serviced this same system and did an amazing job. They properly troubleshot it, removed the plate, cleaned the internal plastic component, and resolved the issue. I explained this to Derrick because his troubleshooting was not making sense to me. After I told him what the previous company had done, Derrick attempted to remove the internal plastic component by pulling and wiggling it with his hands. He actually said he did not want to break it, and then it broke while he was trying to remove it. Part of the broken plastic remained stuck inside the brass assembly. He then spent a significant amount of time using a flat tool trying to pry it out and still could not remove it. At some point, if a plastic component is clearly not coming out, I would expect a professional to stop forcing it and determine the proper method to loosen and remove it. He later suggested WD-40, which made me even more uncomfortable with the troubleshooting process. What really bothered me was that after the part broke while he was removing it, he initially made it seem like I would have to pay for the replacement. He had the replacement kit with him but would not leave the part because he said he had to install it. The problem was that he could not even remove the broken piece. He then told me he "didn't break it" and that "it broke while I was trying to take it out." The part was intact before he attempted to remove it and broken afterward. I cannot say for certain whether it was because I am a woman, but I absolutely felt like Derrick assumed I would simply accept whatever explanation he gave me. His explanations were going in circles and were not making sense based on what I was watching happen. Whenever I questioned him, he repeatedly emphasized that he was a master plumber and could show me his credentials. I did not care about seeing his credentials. I cared about whether the troubleshooting in front of me made sense. At that point, I had already decided I was getting a second opinion. To make matters worse, when he put the assembly back together and turned the water on, everything was not properly secured and water sprayed directly onto me. Ultimately, he did not charge me, but I started the appointment with an intact internal component and ended it with that component broken and part of it still stuck inside my backflow assembly. I was referred to Wallace Plumbing, and I genuinely wish I had just called Anne Arundel Plumbing again. My biggest concern is how quickly I was being led toward the possibility of replacing an entire backflow assembly when the actual issue involved an internal serviceable component. This experience seriously made me question the troubleshooting and the recommendation I was being given.

Nice guys. Honest and did good work. I'm giving 4 stars only because the price of the big company…read moreis $$$$ because I'm sure there is a lot of overhead. However - first we had a guy come out to assess a drain, he informed me that the issue was my sump pump and we only had to pay $50 for the camera view of the drain. Then after my home warranty company refuses to cover a new Sump pump because their plumber service told me there was nothing wrong with my sump pump, they came back and replaced the whole system. It looks really pretty (a phrase I never thought I'd say about a sump pump) but we now have a nicer system, no cords in the pit, one pump with a reliable battery back up. Worth the inflated cost of a big company for the peace of mind. Also despite my husband and I not wearing masks in our homes and not being near the plumbers that they sent out, these guys wore masks the entire time they worked and shoe covers. Good guys!

Update 021826. I've traded voicemail messages with Roto Rooter representatives about my experience…read moreand would like to add the following: Pat responded to my review and elevated the matter to higher management. Given previous Yelp review comments, this was a pleasant surprise. RR Management responded to my VM message. Also, my review was apparently shared to a wider, yet selected, audience within the company to seek clarification. Demonstrating concern and seeking to learn from my experience was also surprising and, IMO, a very positive attribute of the company culture. Consequently, if I were to rate the organization based on management commitment to customer satisfaction only, I'd assign at least 4 stars. Readers: I've now written to Pat at Roto Rooter as requested to provide more details as requested. My plan is to update this review if needed. Thanks! Original review follows...... Clearing a slow toilet drain to a septic tank was successful. Cost $1,138.24. invoice 13-24864537 on 1/31/26. RR location on invoice-Baltimore, MD. Though NOT an emergency, we were grateful that RR was able to respond in 24 hours by providing a technician with truck and all equipment needed to do the job. Communication with the office on technician arrival status was very good. FYI - I first used a plunger and my own 23 ft power snake without any success. The technician claimed to have augured our system 100 feet and pulled some flushable wipes out of the line. This was puzzling as such wipes had not been used for over 3 years. These were not, apparently, the problem with our drain. Consequently, power auguring continued for over 5 hours with nothing else to show! We were told the drain to septic tank might have settled and/or become otherwise obstructed. Thus, it was recommended a separate camera inspection be done and for us to be prepared to pay for the basement floor to be jackhammered for access the problem and allow RR to lay another line. Estimated cost between $5k and $10k. We were surprised by the level of effort, duration, and cost to clear a toilet drain. Soon after this work by RR, the septic tank was pumped. This was routine service. No drainage blocks were detected. Our plan is to continue to be careful about what is disposed in the toilet and monitor for any slowness. And.........we'll start saving for the cost of a possible home excavation project. So service was prompt and clean. The price was unexpectedly high, and we remain concerned about future problems.

They incorrectly installed it (sensor arm above the water table) and funneled the water to my backyard flooding the yard with water. Three weeks later I developed puddles of water in my basement even though the sump pump was working. After repeated calls to this company without any positive responses or solutions, I called another foundation company five days later to solve my problem (which they did). After notifying Mr. Goddard of my dissatisfaction, he asked me to wait a few weeks to make sure I had no further water problems assuring me that his company has been in business a long time. I called him 5 weeks later letting him know my basement was still dry. He told me he would send a written response within two days. The second day, I received a forwarded email from his plumber stating the work was done correctly and there were no guarantees or warranty. Me. Goddard did not even have the common courtesy to personally respond. I can not recommend ever using this company. They do not stand behind their work.
