I've been coming to this groomer for over four years -- back when the original owner (who was like everyone's favorite energetic Korean grandma) was still here. She loved animals deeply and was always warm, friendly, and full of joy. My old pup Cloud (a black Yorkie Terrier) absolutely adored her, and for years, his photo was actually the face of this Yelp page. This was my first time bringing my new pup, Naruto (a 4-month-old Toy Poodle), since Cloud passed earlier this year. I was a little nervous because I noticed the recent wave of negative reviews under the new ownership. That said, I still wanted to give them a chance -- partly out of loyalty to the space and partly to see how they'd handle a puppy's very first haircut. Booking was a little confusing (we had a small miscommunication about the time), but they were still able to take Naruto when I arrived. The vibe was definitely different from before -- a lot more businesslike and less warm or chatty -- but not unfriendly. Just a shift in tone. The cut itself, though? She did a great job. I asked for a teddy bear cut and explained that Naruto's coat is still in transition since he's so young, but she really nailed the shape and proportions. He looked adorable when I picked him up. She even complimented him, saying he was a smart dog and did well for his first grooming, which I appreciated. The price has gone up ($70 vs. $55 before), but for a solid first-time puppy grooming, I was satisfied. While I do miss the warmth of the previous owner, I can't deny that my dog looked GREAT and was treated with care. I'm glad I brought Naruto here for his first cut -- it felt full circle after so many visits with Cloud. read more

I'm really disappointed with my experience here. I brought in my Pomeranian and showed a reference photo of a longer, fluffy trim. Instead, his body was shaved very short. What concerns me most is that I was not contacted before such a drastic change was made. My dog regularly gets groomed and never had issues with matting in the past. If there were issues like matting that required shaving, I would have expected a text/call to discuss options first, especially for a double-coated breed. The previous owner was AMAZING and she's what all the 5 star reviews are about. The salon has been sold and is under new ownership. Sadly it's gone so downhill. After being a loyal customer for years our dog was SHAVED NAKED without us asking or our permission. She has a double coat and is never supposed to be shaved except for medical issues!! We requested her regular bath, glands, nails. We go to pick her up and she's completely naked!! And with horrible choppy parts in what is left of her coat. We are so sad for her, she came home shaking and so stressed. Now we have to wait for it to grow back, hopefully her coat isn't damaged forever. They still charged us for her bath. But since the new owners took over the place is not the same. I tried to give them a chance but this people are so rude, when I came in for the appointment the lady who now owns the place seemed so annoyed to help us. And when it was time to pick them up she complained about the fact my dogs were occupying her kennels, she had the worst attitude towards us. If I was reviewing the prior owner, it would have been the most glowing 5 star review. She was genuinely amazing. My corgi never had any issues when going to get groomed and came out trimmed to perfection and smelling divine. I didn't realize that the place had changed owners recently, but that really makes my last two experiences make more sense. I've given Bobos two chances in the last few months. Each time, they tell me that my dog was misbehaving, erratic, and they couldn't finish the grooming or nail cutting. He is a 10 year old, very docile corgi. He NEVER had this issue before. In fact, the prior owner would often comment on how well behaved he was. Something is really off with the new staff. It is a damn shame because this place used to be incredible. Been going here for over a year and never had any problems. I loved the previous owner, an older Asian lady. I would say about 3-4 months ago, she retired and now there's a new owner along with new staff and new groomers :/ I gave them 2 chances already. Keep in mind I provided the same photos that I always provided. The first time my dog came out looking like he was wearing skinny jeans. I told them usually he's given more of the corgi butt and showed them the pictures again. So second time they gave him a bad BBL... he was the shape of a milk bone. Big head with a big butt and the body was shaved so short I was scared his fur wouldn't grow back out right. I expressed this to them and they told me to give them a third chance and if it still came out messed up, then they would not charge me . Ok sounds fair right? Now it's time for his monthly groom and they told me they are closed, but didn't specify dates or when I can come in?? I followed up again today and it seems like they're leaving me on read ... Have been coming here for about 3 years prior to the lady leaving, and if you're a regular, you'll KNOW your pet would get 5 star treatment because the owner loved and cared for every pet that she and her team groomed. I received a text that my dog was ready for pick up and upon arriving, the man working there hands me a dog that's not mine. I let him know and he quickly got upset at ME for not taking some random dog? I started freaking out calling for my dog and when he was no where to be found, I Started circling the block and trying to see if he had escaped. He never offered help, didn't ask me anything, NOTHING. I figured since he was giving me another dog maybe mine had gotten picked up by someone else. The previous owner would always let the dogs roam in the enclosed pen because she knew her customers, but the new management has piled cages with no way to identify individual dogs. It quickly turned hectic as I wanted answers and you would think the man in charge would start calling people that had picked up their pets to verify they had the right dog, but no. All he did was sit down. Again, offered no resolution. I had to take it upon MYSELF to call each person on his list and ask if they had the right dog. Turns out that the man had forced MY dog, onto a Spanish speaking customer, who was asked by her son to pick up his dog. She had an inclination she might've had the wrong dog and when she tried to express that, the owner told her to basically take the pet and pay or get out. Her English was limited so she took my dog. She was located in Crenshaw so I had to drive to her with her son's dog to exchange pets. Listen, I completely understand mistakes happen. But I would've been more understanding if 1. He would've handled the entire situation instead of leaving it to me, a freaked out woman in search for her pet, to handle the situation 2. If he would've at LEAST apologized but all he did was sit down and see me frantically call everyone. When I left, he didn't tell me a single thing!!! 3. If he had a proper organization of the pets, not have up to 3 dogs in a single cage. It was such a traumatic day, for no reason. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT come here !!! I appreciate everyone who called/ texted after asking me if I had found my pet or if I was okay. They were more of a help than this owner was. read more

I can't believe I've never been here before. I originally had a grooming appointment at Petsmart but due to a prior appointment running late, I couldn't make it there on time. Everything was booked for the next two weeks and my dog really needed a trip to the salon. I've had terrible grooming experiences before so I'm very skeptical about trying new places but after a ton of research, I found Bobos. I sent a message via Yelp and received a reply fairly quickly. I was really bummed I missed my appointment today because today was my day off and I don't know my schedule too far in advance. The owner was super nice and she had last minute availability! Price is extremely reasonable. In fact, it's cheaper than at chain grooming salons. You can tell she genuinely loves dogs. My dog lost a lot of his fur (hopefully temporarily) from an infection he got last year and his fur really was a mess. I told her about his alopecia and his dry skin and just told her to do the best she could. She texted me when he was ready to be picked up and took about 2 hours. Literally the only downside to this place is parking (it's impossible to find). When I went to go pick him up, he looked so happy with his cute little bowtie she gave him. It's so refreshing to see his new do because it was so long overdue. My dog is happy. I'm happy. Service is top notch. I will definitely be back! read more

If I could leave a no star review I would. Came for the first time with my dog and it was also his first time getting groomed! Left him and an hour later I get call about them saying they lost my dog! I spend all day running around street by street looking for him and he was nowhere to be found and luckily I got him back at the end of the day that some good people found him but it was such a stressful day for both me, my family and my dog! I took my pup here two days ago for the first time. The lady is very sweet and friendly. She was able to take my puppy in very last minute on the same day. The place is small and there's no parking lot and you know how street parking is in Koreatown. I dropped him off at 4pm and they weren't done until almost 7pm. She did a good job however, when I woke up the following morning, I checked his body and it seems like she cut a bit too deep for my liking near his underarm area. 10/10 recommend. I have taken Arthur to two shops before this one. They would rush and ultimately end up cutting him the way they wanted ( usually the mostly popular dog grooming trends that just hideous) This groomer is different. She sat with me for 5 minutes, I told her how I wanted Arthur groomed, she asked me question to make sure she understood. She was friendly and fluent in English. By far my favorite place to take my dog to get a nail trim. Most of the place I have been to would just do minimal nail trimming, but Bobos is extremely thorough with actually doing their job. They were very sweet and careful with Toby. He wouldnt even let me touch his paws when I try to trim him, but Ellie was very sweet with him that he actually enjoyed getting his nails trimmed. The owner/groomer could not have been nicer and literally sang to him while trimming his nails. We came back for a haircut, and unfortunately found that he got cut in his paw when we got home. I have a maltipoo and a chihuahua mix who always look fabulous after getting groomed at Bobos. The owner truly loves dogs, and you can tell as she enthusiastically pets them and feeds them snacks! She decked her store out in all the latest dog clothes and gear, and is amicable. As opposed to the typical cheap bandana most places use, she gave my chihuahua the most adorable bowtie.
