Found this place thanks to a Yelp search and boy am I glad I did. What a cool spot! I can see a classic car club taking a cruise to this place on a summer night. Excellent old fashioned burgers and (crinkle cut!!) fries served in a brown paper bag. Several people complained about the time it took to get their order but with three cars in front of me, i waited about 10 minutes- not too bad for freshly made food. The kids working the place were pretty uninterested in me, but that's to be expected and I dont hold it against them. So my co-worker told me about this place. He told me it was a bit of a drive from where I live, but wouldn't be disappointed. (I wasn't!) About a month ago I was on a Burger-Kick. I had to find all the hidden gem/burger joints around St. Louis. Bob's Drive-in. is one of them! I got a double cheese burger with a large fry, orange soda, and some mini corn-dogs for drive back home. Oh I also ordered a regular chicken sandwich was really good. The sandwich had a spicy kick to it, so I think they ended up giving me a spicy one instead. (Not Complaining lol) The only upsetting thing about Bob's is, its so far away from where I live. I stopped by for lunch for the time yesterday and was not disappointed. My mushroom bacon cheeseburger and crinkle cut fries were great. My meal was served HOT!!! Burger was no frills and greasy. The kind of greasy that soaks through the wrapper into the brown bag. No lettuce, ketchup, mustard, or pickles. They focus on the beef and they do it well. The bacon was crisp but not overdone. The mushrooms were soft and tasty. The cheese was melted, messy, and delicious. This is the only place I've been to with crinkle fries I've enjoyed. They were fried well and were actually comparable to regular fries. Golden and firm on the outside, soft on the inside.They could have used more salt, but still good. I think they use snow cone ice in their soft drinks which was fun to munch on at the end the meal. There are few things you should know before you go: Be prepared to wait. It took about 10 minutes to get my food. It's made to order and that's the way it has to be. Calling ahead is the way to go! There's a 50 cent charge if you're paying with a card. If you want more than one napkin or any condiments, you have to ask for it (I'm actually not sure if they're available). There is only outdoor seating but there's plenty of it. There's a large shaded pavilion as well as some patio umbrellas and uncovered seating. If you're going to eat in your car, don't go through the drive though. The drive through is one way and you'll have to get back on 61/67 to circle back around. There is some shaded parking on the dive through side, but it was taken by the employees. The parking lot is large but I imagine it could get crowded when it gets busy. Their website is well designed and easy to navigate if you care about that kind of thing. I'll definitely be going back to check out the rest of the menu. Neat place! read more

When I was growing up, I used to live in the neighborhood behind Bob's Drive-in. I used to walk up here with my parents or friends for burgers, ice cream, and spicy chicken tenders. I have fond memories of the delicious food and the summer nights we'd spend eating on the patio. Fast forward 20 years and this place is still very true to how I remember it. The food is pretty much the same, although it seems like the wait time has increased substantially. If you're willing to wait a little while for one of the best burgers in town, check this place out. When it comes to delicious, made to order food...this is the spot to be! I've stopped her many times, most recently for dinner and dessert. I was the second car in line for the drive thru, which means it's going to be awhile. They make all food and desserts made to order, which results in a longer wait but a better experience. I ordered the double cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake. The burger was cooked perfectly for the thin n' crispy style. Plenty of toppings and a warm bun MMMMMMMM! The fries were hot and crispy, the shake was great! The lady who took my order/money seemed to be around 16 and lacked personal skills. She wasn't rude, but didn't exactly come across as friendly and thankful for my service. Overall, I'll continue to visit this place for a snowcone, a shake, or the occasional entire meal. since the original bobs sold out, I have been here three times .... Hopi g it would get better. the first time we waited for 40 mins for food and ice cream to take home it was hot, ice cream came out first and melted before the food came. second time, again we waited for about 30 mins. kids ice cream was completely wrong but couldn't get it right for some reason. this time I ordered two banana splits in the drive thru with no speaker. so you order at the window they have no whip cream, I get home and discover my banana splits are one huge glob of soft serve vanilla not hand dipped like the last time and it's 70 degrees out and it's melted like it was setting for 20 mins ... this is that last time I will ever go to this place , in my opinion it's not worth my time or yours , I wouldn't suggest to my worst enemy that they should eat at this place... Bob's has been around for decades, and I'll admit that I usually just drive by. We stopped in on an unseasonably warm day just for the old school Drive-In experience. The burgers were worth every penny - perfectly cooked, fresh, with warm grilled onions and customizable toppings that are honestly unnecessary when you have a burger that good, although onion, mustard, and pickle took it over the top to be sure. The size of the sides are minimal for the price and, while decent, weren't really worth the buy. We waited a good half an hour for our food because there were only two people working and they cook orders as they come in without priority to length of cook time - but we didn't go for a fast food meal, we went knowing that it was made fresh to order and to enjoy the experience. As for the patio itself, it's spacious and clean, but sitting right next to 61/67 means that it's remarkably loud. They do have a covered area away from the noise with other tables for those who need a little more peace with their meal. read more

This place is fantastic! One warning...this is not the place to go to if you are in a hurry! That's not a bad thing, because every order is made while you wait. The burgers are fresh, juicy and worth the wait! They have a drive up window which is always busy and it is very slow moving. They have runners to bring out your drive thru order so be patient! The ice cream is delicious and they have all kinds of sundae chouces, concretes, shakes, malts, and much more! The workers are very polite and appear to be happy with what they do. There are patio tables to sit at as well as a covered patio. The view is beautiful. If you want a fresh made to order burger, this is the place to visit!! Enjoy!!! read more

So, after being closed for a VERY long time, this place is back up and running! I am excited! Simply for the fact that i love, love love their chocolate malt's (I'm a malt fan... it's the taste). So very disappointed. This place used to be the best place in Arnold/Imperial to get ice cream. Tonight it tasted freezer burned and two scoops was not even one scoop. The cotton candy ice cream used to have pieces of cotton candy in it. Tonight it was awful. Can't say we will be back. read more

I'll start with the positive. The food is great! The burgers are a little greasy, but just right. The fried cauliflower, zucchini and fries are great too. They have the best malts and ice cream around. Best twist cone around, hands down! Now the negative. I'll start by saying that I've lived less than a mile from Bobs for the majority of my life. I've experienced all the transitions of ownership through the years. The food has stayed great, but the service, not so much. If the drive through takes 10-15 minutes to get through when there's no car in front of you, that's really not great service. When calling in an order and told "10 minutes" and I arrive 10 minutes later and still have to wait another 5-10 minutes, that's also not great service. I used to be able to call my order in, wait 5 minutes, arrive and my order was ALWAYS ready when I got there. This has not happened to me in probably the last 5 years. Needless to say, I eat there a whole lot less than I would if the the service was better, especially since it's so convenient for me. Seems to me they would have a lot more business if the service was better. I know the same good food with much better service is possible, because it used to be that way. I'm not sure what the change has been to slow their service down so dramatically. I would hate to see Bobs close some day. It's been there forever. I have fond memories of going there throughout my life. My earliest memory is of standing on the long bench that used to be there and standing on my tip toes, eating an ice cream cone and trying to reach the ceiling while my parents made sure to catch me if I fell. I can only hope they can improve their service, I'd like to my own grandkids there some day and I hope their still around. I'd say 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for service, therefore I gave them an average of 3 stars. read more

I can't believe I lived 24 years of my life and never tried this place! I only live 9 minutes away too! I just never thought too much into it! My girlfriend is from the area and she's been a handful of times! Only crossed my mind a few times, but never capitalized. Well tonight was the night! I wasn't too hungry so I got a hamburger and fries! Two cars were ahead of us, but the line moved moderately fast! The burger was so FRESH! Fast food chains always say "freshly grilled" and all that other jazz, but Bobs burger (no pun intended) knocked my tastebuds and that statement outta the park. It was like watching your favorite movie and not wanting it to end. The flavor danced in my mouth! Fries were pretty good too. Have I had better? Yes. Have I had worse? Yes. Nonetheless, they paired really well with the burger. The price blew me away too! You're telling me my taste buds can take a trip to the moon and back for only $2.39? That's absolutely bananas! Five Guys charges $6.99 for a burger... that should be fucking illegal! Getting a high quality burger for $2 dollars and 39 cents seems unreal. I really hate to say anything bad about a small family run business but believe what others say about inexcusably long wait times. We placed our order at the window and sat patiently for almost 30 minutes for our ice cream order. Only after two or three cars went through the drive-in did we knock on the window to find that the young man forgotten about our order. After complaining and asking for a refund I talked to "Bob" who was completely unaware of their online reputation for bad customer service. I really hope she cares enough about her customers to check into it. Maybe it will be better for the next folks. read more

The quality of food and the prices at Bob's diner are hard to beat. They are just so much better than places in the area like Culvers, Steak 'n Shake and other fast food chains. $5 for a shake and a cheeseburger?! Wow. Staff was very incompetent, we had ordered a small order. Asking for picante to go with the mini tacos, when the young lady handed us the food I confirmed that she put the picante in the bag and she said "umm it should be" instead of guessing she should just check.
