Not only do they offer all sorts of sweet treats (custard, malts, milkshakes, sundaes, concretes, etc), they also have a full menu if you want something to snack on such as fries, onion rings, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, hamburgers, etc. A few weeks ago, I could not figure out where to eat dinner and so I just decided that this would be the spot to check out. I ordered their grilled chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings and then I also ordered a giant concrete with brownies and fudge. It was such an indulgence, but I am still so glad I did it. When waiting in line, they usually have someone come to take your order and write it down so that when you get to the window they can ring it up and have you pay. It's pretty efficient. I am pretty sure the owners are awesome because I hear good things about them and I know most of the workers are in high school and they all really enjoy working there. They all get to contribute to a long list of their favorite items so that you can review their list to make a decision if you can't decide what to order. They are all so helpful! Definitely give this spot a try next time you are in town, or better yet, make a trip out to the Malt Shop, you won't be sad once you start enjoying your tasty concrete or other delicious item. We've been here three times now and I can say the people are great, the menu covers all the bases and always hits the spot, and there's a good variety of picnic table seating all around the outside of this little shop. I love their dip cones and burgers. My son especially likes the corn dogs and onion rings, and all three of our kids like the chicken fingers... I love that this place has been here a long time and is still here. It's a very neighborhood, IYKYK kind of place. I ordered a small concrete with butterscotch and heath bar. My mother ordered a hot fudge sundae. We sat at the picnic tables to eat our ice cream. There were lots of families and dogs and kids to watch. During the summer/fall we come here all the time. The staff is great and the ice cream is delicious with large portion sizes. BUT my favorite part of the Malt Shop isn't what I'm eating, it's the special dog treat they have on the menu. They have the cutest dog bone snack for your furry friends on the menu. We ordered a sundae and day code for my five year old am I five we are five year old was very happy with her icecream. The amount of food for $11.42 was not sufficient. One double burger, 5 onion rings, and a small dish of ice cream with hot fudge. Note that does not include any beverage. There are no prices on the menu for a reason. The patties on the burger were very thin and nothing special. The small dish of ice cream was about a scoop, maybe scoop and half, and nothing special. The coating on the onion rings was delicious, but I was still hungry after spending over $11. I want to support local, but this is just too expensive for what you get. read more

Such a great little place in Fenton! Its like rural feel, but in the city right off the highway. Heard friends of ours talking about how good it was and just had to try. Traffic getting there is a bear anytime around rush hour off 141, but the trip was well worth it. An immaculate counter order ice cream stand with a ton of yummy sounding malts and shakes and sundaes, that also serves a handful of delicious sandwiches and fried fare, it takes me back to places of my small town youth. There is a HUGE parking lots and tons of park-like outdoor seating/picnic tables if you want to stay and dine, but no indoor dining. Huge menu of staff favorite suggestions and choices for icecream treats and add ins. The prices are about average to a little more than you might pay for fast food at a chain, but we thought it was well worth the atmosphere and quality. We were hungry for dinner not sweets this time around, so we ordered their oft described pork fritter sandwiches, which you can customize with a plethora of toppings like cheese, onion, pickles, mustard, lettuce, tomato , as well as some fried onion rings and fried mushrooms to share. Everything was hot, crisp and fresh, and although the fried items were on the smaller side with about 6 of each to an order, it was just right for us to share.
