Tucked away off 141, it's not a place we would have randomly found unless we stumbled across it--but now that we know about it, we make sure to stop anytime we're in the area. It's so sad to write that I can no longer recommend a place that I have patronized for more than 50 years and have such fond memories of ( my dad would take me regularly as a kid) And that I recommended to everyone for more 35 years. But the last time I was there, my large malt was no longer large. If you are looking for a tasty treat in the Fenton area, you gotta check out the malt shop. Not only do they offer all sorts of sweet treats (custard, malts, milkshakes, sundaes, concretes, etc), they also have a full menu if you want something to snack on such as fries, onion rings, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, hamburgers, etc. A few weeks ago, I could not figure out where to eat dinner and so I just decided that this would be the spot to check out. I ordered their grilled chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings and then I also ordered a giant concrete with brownies and fudge. It was such an indulgence, but I am still so glad I did it. When waiting in line, they usually have someone come to take your order and write it down so that when you get to the window they can ring it up and have you pay. It's pretty efficient. I am pretty sure the owners are awesome because I hear good things about them and I know most of the workers are in high school and they all really enjoy working there. They all get to contribute to a long list of their favorite items so that you can review their list to make a decision if you can't decide what to order. They are all so helpful! Definitely give this spot a try next time you are in town, or better yet, make a trip out to the Malt Shop, you won't be sad once you start enjoying your tasty concrete or other delicious item. We've been here three times now and I can say the people are great, the menu covers all the bases and always hits the spot, and there's a good variety of picnic table seating all around the outside of this little shop. I love their dip cones and burgers. My son especially likes the corn dogs and onion rings, and all three of our kids like the chicken fingers... I am happy that every time we've been there we have gotten our food quickly. I love that this place has been here a long time and is still here. It's a very neighborhood, IYKYK kind of place. I ordered a small concrete with butterscotch and heath bar. My mother ordered a hot fudge sundae. We sat at the picnic tables to eat our ice cream. There were lots of families and dogs and kids to watch. This is a landmark in Fenton, MO. Lots of locals remember as kids, riding their bikes to The Malt Shop to get an ice cream.
