I don't have a single bad thing to say about this business or people; I was seen right away, greeted famously, before this man spent what must've been six hours on my car alone trying to fix something i couldn't even comprehend. he worked on it until they closed, and in the end, he wasn't able to fix the whole issue simply because I needed to bring lots of expensive parts from many different stores, and i figured I had just accrued a massive bill and would be leaving with the same car. and Bob wouldn't take my money, Instead just asking I come back whenever I can. not because he just gives out labor for free but because he cared more about the customer than my money. truly there is nowhere else you should go, this is the only place I want to bring my car. read more

Not a good place at all! so they did a great job replacing the motor in my 05 wrangler. took maybe three weeks. 6 grand. I was pretty happy. next repair, was a disaster. had the jeep for 5 weeks trying to figure out a transmission problem and broken speedometer. never called with a progress update. had to "check in " with him weekly. finally got frustrated and insisted I'd pick up the vehicle and he says I can't drive it off his lot..... WTF??? i drove it in! Had to take it to a different shop. they replaced the trans cooler lines and the vehicle was fixed. bottom line, took less time to put the motor in! side note, my family and I had been a customer of Bob for over ten years. so it was just an unbelievably bad experience. read more

This place is hands down the most honest garage I have ever been to. On multiple occasions I have come here concerned about a squeak, a rattle, or a shake. This is when I find most mechanic lick their lips. Bob's friendly turned me away saying, "its just a rattle - we tightened a bolt and its gone - no charge". Every other time I needed real work done they brought me to the car an pointed at all the work they did and showed me the new parts installed. The prices are fair compared to pricing estimators online. They lost one star because they get a little disorganized and forget to call you, or forget that they're backed up and cant get to you that day. We have been going to Bob's Friendly in Midland Park for many years. I brought my Honda Pilot for two issues , power steering and a windshield wiper motor. They replaced the power steering rack and the wiper motor ($1500.00 later). The car was driven home less than a mile, and sat in the driveway. The next morning the windshield had a large crack. The windshield repair technician confidently said the repair of the wiper motor caused the crack. Because of the long relationship with Bob's Friendly we assumed accidents happen and didn't make a big deal about it. When I got the car home the steering felt loose and sloppy, the original power steering noise was still there. We brought the car back for them to repair the problem,they ended up keeping the SUV for over a month and never looked at it. Had to keep calling him week after week, he never called us. He finally looked at it and said it was a defective part ( the rack) and someone from the parts distributor company was coming to look at it. Well, they never showed and again he kept the car for a few more weeks, same thing no call, no explanation. During this time were we very patient and understanding about some shop issues. We couldn't understand why we were being treated disrespectfully since we were long time customers. We took the car home one weekend and my husband said it was the power steering pump, the SUV was hard to turn and it was screeching. We returned the car Monday and my husband asked him to look into replacing the power steering pump. By the following Friday there was still no solution and no plan to repair. After another two weeks of being promised every two days the car would be repaired, we decided to cut our losses (walk away) take the car home. It was pretty clear that they had no intention of completing the repair and were hoping we would just go away. To close the story the car was repaired elsewhere in a few hours and it turned out to be the power steering pump. Since Bob nor anyone from his staff never bothered to follow up with us, it's clear they were playing a waiting game and never had any intention of completing the repair. Like I stated, we had been going to him for years but no longer will. I'm writing this review to caution other people about using Bobs Friendly in Midland Park, NJ . read more

I came all the way from Brooklyn to get Bob's opinion after the Dealer gave me a laundry list of repairs that "had to get done". After leaving the car with Bob for a day, I got it back with a Clean Bill of Health (there was nothing wrong with it), and an honest piece of advice "the dealers will try to rip you off ever time." I had my car taken there to get a check engine light read and fixed they said it was the 02 sensor, i got the car back a week later with a $500 bill and the problem was still there, turns out after looking at it myself it was a simple vacuum leak in a hose. My family also takes our cars to him to be inspected but we took our other car to him to get inspected he had the car for a full week and did not do anything with the car. I will never bring another thing to him again. read more
