Great Tex Mex Taco place. In love with the barbacoa. Service is friendly.

This place is over rated, and it is hard not to get in the rut and sing songs as so many others do. Been there many times and it is OK, but not great. Food is over priced, and about par with most Mexican restaurants. The tamale to me were a waste of my money. Went to bob's for a quick lunch today. My wife had the carne guisada and I had beef nachos. The food was bland at best and the nachos were worse than movie nachos and the nacho chips were stale. We have tried bob's twice now and both times were bad. Bob's snowball stand outside the restaurant is the only redeeming factor. read more

My daughter and I met for lunch today. I eat the same thing every time. The pechuga de pollo. We are frequent diners so I never look at the menu. My waitress was new and when I ordered she said we don't have that. I looked at the menu and it was gone. She went and asked Alfonso who knows me well and he took our order. He said it's not on the menu but they have it. That is by far my favorite dish along with breakfast tacos! After hearing about this place on Triple D, we were excited to finally get around to Rosenberg to give it a try. We walked in to a cozy and pleasant atmosphere although it seemed like its character was a bit staged. The salsa was very good but maybe warmed would have made it great. The chips were clearly not In-house and a bit greasy. Although the flour tortillas were good, they were unusually thick, almost like a gordita. The breakfast tacos were oddly expensive. For $2.69/$2.79 a taco, you would think they would actually scramble fresh bacon in with some fresh eggs and add more than 3 or 4 potatoes, instead of what seemed to be a taco put together from ingredients sitting on a steam table. The bacon was actually still in whole strips! The barbacoa was very good. The fajita meat tasted like it may have been a day old and dry. The beans had an odd flavor. Burned? The carne guisada was amazing!! Great flavor and extremely tender. The tamales were Blatantly Tex-Mex, not authentic. If it wasn't for the gravy , which was possibly from the carne guisada, they were not special at all. IF, we visit again, it would be for the carne guisada. Service was good. read more

What can I say. I grew up eating these breakfast tacos. It's what my parents bought after church each Sunday morning. That's really what this place was known for. Quality breakfast tacos at a fair price(not anymore). Now they are basically just over priced breakfast tacos. They skimp on the filling and they skimp on sauces now. Those suckers used to be filled.....now it's MAYBE half of what it used to be. Ever since they were on Guy F's show(Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) they've gone down hill. Someone mentioned the son taking over...I can't really speak to that as I don't know them personally, but that guy that mentioned it played guitar there on Fridays for awhile. The prices are too high. I went for breakfast with my GF and paid $25....for two breakfast tacos and a breakfast plate?!?!? WAY too expensive. I know it's not going to be Dennys cheap, but at least you get a decent amount of food at Dennys. Then when you take into consideration the crowded atmosphere...it's just not worth it. Avoid it and go to papa mex or any number of gas stations that sell breakfast tacos around here. Even stripes @ Ave I and Reading Rd. has a way better deal. That said...the tacos are still good. I mean quality wise they are there, but the amount of filling is what angers me. When you've been getting a nice filled product almost every week for 8 years....you're going to notice when they cut the amount of filling they put in them. What's crazy is sometimes you still get a normal proper sized taco, but for the most part that hasn't been my experience. read more

I frequent this place quite often and I'm not sure what has happened in the past few months but I do t like the change. Went in Sunday morning for breakfast as usual and ordered my usual Jason and John and a coffee. I had two friends with me that ordered tacos as well. The food came out very fast and our waitress was very nice. The problem was how rushed we felt as we ate, the waitress seemed bothered that we asked for a refill on coffee! I do understand that some people sit and talk forever and they need the table but this was ridiculous. We each had two cups of coffee and as I was trying to get out waitresses attention they just came by picked up our cups and handed us the bill. I'm goo a five this place one more chance as they do have good food and I do like to support local business, but as a paying customer I refuse to put up with bad service. I hope these guys understand that there are plenty of other good places that would love to have the business. read more

The best potato and egg tacos around on homemade tortillas! Great atmosphere, polite staff and other good food as well. Don't skip the homemade hot sauce! Picking up a to-go order is quick but if you dine in, you will not be able to resist reading all the signage on the walls. Great food at great prices. read more

Had breakfast there for 3 people this am, eggs a la mexicana and huevos rancheros were ordered. food was fresh and cooked perfectly as always. Homeade flour tortillas are excellent, don't pass them up. Waitstaff and owners are very pleasant and attentive, the place is loud and happy and a small venue, so expect a small wait, it's that good. read more

Ok, my first time here and I must say definitely my last time. Upon my trip to the men's bathroom (outside) it was flooded as if though the roof leaked rain, I could have slipped and fell it was disgusting inside! Not to mention the parking has pot holes so strap on for a bumpy ride in the parking lot. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen ooh, wait upon its history it has already been sued due to food contamination based upon Google search and YouTube video by Anthony Covney on CDC reports...WOW!!!! No surprise... The food was ok, just glorified due to lack of Hispanic culture in Rosenberg. Very simple menu nothing impressive tamales tasted of average central market tamales. The fajitas taste like average non marinated fajita meat and refried beans bland.The salsa wasn't bad with a hint of roasted tomatoes ( kind of like Las Palapas in S.A) but definitely not driving out there for salsa.This place is not worth the trip to true Hispanics that enjoy real Mexican cuisine. Definitely have to say over-rated but the salsa IS really good and the fresh, thick homemade tortillas and tamales are really yummy. Barbacoa is good and not too greasy. However, the chilaquiles was bland and lacking in flavor. Service was good the last time we went. I wouldn't drive out of my way to go to this place but if I'm around Rosenberg I may stop in for some tamales and barbacoa tacos. read more

Not very good quality food, strip bacon was undercooked (taste like it had been in water) and cheese was cheap. If you have low standards for a breakfast taco, this is the place to go. No comparison to Bronco Burrito in Galveston, Texas. read more

I have frequented Bob's dozens of times since I was a kid. I have only come a few times the last several years because of all the hype surrounding the place (and the crowd). This morning, your typical Tuesday, I phoned in an order to bring some tacos to work for my coworkers. When I arrive my order is ready, I have to check that everything is there myself, and then the cashier tells me it's .20 per red or green salsa. I have just ordered $30 in breakfast tacos and you want to tack that on as well? For anyone that has never been here, the salsas are in giant ketchup like dispensers on every table. She could not explain why to dine in the salsa is not an extra charge but for to go orders it is. As I am leaving I go to the beverage station to get some napkins and a waitress who has just bussed a table walks by with a few dirty plates in hand and a coffee cup. She then proceeds to pour the remaining coffee from the cup back into a pot on one of the warmers. I watched her turn the corner into the kitchen and throw everything into the dirty dish bin. How disgusting can you be? If they do that with coffee what else do they do that with. I'm sure left over Spanish rice and refried beans too. This is appalling and a serious health code violation. Bob's Taco Stand has been in Rosenberg forever. It is a classic Tex-Mex joint with huge atmosphere on the walls, an extremely solid/long-time staff, and good service after decades of practice. Because of its longevity, you can count on the food being consistent. All of these factors rate it a three-star A-OK. The beef enchiladas, taco salad, and barbacoa are all as good as you can find, however it is not exactly cheap compared to the dozens of taquerias in the Richmond/Rosenberg area that may not only have better Mexican food (certainly better carne guisada that was featured for some reason on DDD), but at much better prices. I would be very sad if there was no longer Bob's in Rosenberg from a nostalgic point of view, but I can easily eat better and cheaper at a lot of places within a 5 mile radius of it. read more

If there's one thing that turns me off a Mexican restaurant quickly it's how stingy they are with their salsas. To me there's absolutely no excuse for running out of salsa or giving me salsa that's nearly done and when I ask for more you give me a few tiny containers. I find it annoying and irritating. Worst meal ever! I had heard so much wonderful news about Bob's taco Station couldn't wait to get there. Had their special of the day which were crispy tacos my favorite meal, completely tasteless, also was all you could eat. I had two tacos with beans and rice and had requested two more tacos. After seeing Bob's Taco Stand on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, we ran there the very next day. It was packed to the gills which was a good sign. We only waited a few minutes, though, for a table. We got the Carne Guisada Plate - to.die.for! It was like a homemade beef stew-like dish with a Tex-Mex kick that screamed comfort food. The tortillas (made on site every day) were beyond delicious and the service was great despite how busy it was. The atmosphere is typical of what you'd expect from a hole-in-the-wall, and that's exactly what it is and exactly what we've been looking for in a Tex Mex restaurant in Texas. Also, we got a LOT a of food for our buck! We definitely plan to become regular customers. Our only disappointment is that they're closed on Mondays and not open for dinner during the week. read more

Purchased nearly $30 worth of Tacos to pick up and at least half of the tacos' tortillas were burnt to a dark brown or black. We travel nearly half an hour to get them, so it's not worth going back to get new ones. The last few times we had picked orders up, the orders had been wrong. After this, we Will probably not go back. Too many chances given at this point. Severely disappointed in how much the quality and service has decreased. read more

I went here because of the reviews I've read on here. Needless to say it was my first and last time coming here to eat. For the price I paid for 3 tacos I've could gone to southwest HOUSTON and gotten better quality of food and far more tastier. The flour tortillas were so hard that it hurt my jaw chewing it up. I saw this place on Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and I'm glad I did!! First the owner, Bob is very nice!! We have gone several times and its cosistently good. The tamles, the breakfast tacos and the enchilladas are very good. Everything is homemade down to the delicious salsa. My kids just love this place so we try to go out there monthly. Went again the other day for lunch and had the special, 2 chalupas with rice and refried beans in a cup! Chalupas had beans, ground beef, a little lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Was OK but not as good as the previous meal of enchiladas verdes. The refried beans were especially good, even if in a cup and not on the plate, as usual. I still like this place. This is as best as it gets when it comes to Tex-Mex. The place is homey and have a real authentic down to earth dining experience. The wait staffs are very friendly and attentive every time we go. Food is cheap, and the flour tortillas are seriously worth it. Even though this restaurant is quite far from us, this place always deliver, so the drive is worthwhile. Check the hours.
