Called in here for a few beers early last December while staying around the corner when we visited New York. It was Santacon day and everywhere had a good vibe about because of this. Definitely a fun new spot on the Upper West Side. Have come here in groups a few times, which has been great since they have lots of space and long tables with stools. Very reasonably priced drinks with great happy hour deals and fun Jell-O shots! Love that you can order Seamless or takeout to the establishment as well, since they don't have a kitchen. When I first moved to Manhattan in 2009, I lived two blocks up the street, and this was the Ding Dong Lounge. It was THE dive bar for the neighborhood, full of interesting characters, indeed. Since I've moved out and gentrification has trickled up Columbus Avenue even more so, Bob's Your Uncle has taken over this spot. My memories of the Ding Dong Lounge live on, but Bob's Your Uncle is an excellent replacement. This is a very friendly neighborhood bar with little pretense. They've got a varied beer and cider list, good booze, Jell-O shots (!!!), a small bowling game and board games to share, a projection screen, and the BEST playlists EVERRRR. The first time I visited, they were playing Billy Ocean and other mid-80s pop gems. Upon visiting this past Saturday, they played middle school and high school classics. Aaliyah! Monica! Brandy! 112! I have the buzzed Snapchat videos of myself lip-syncing to always remember that night... I do love the ciders they have (Downeast and Nine Pin are usually on tap or in cans), and I love the Pear-A-Dice bourbon-based cocktail! I know I'll be coming back here more and more. If I still lived up the street, I would be a regular! And even though I live WAAAAY up the street now (...as in, walk two blocks west to Broadway, then walk 100 blocks to the north. I can definitely appreciate that. The space is huge and would probably be a great place to rent out for a bday party...hmmm Glad that they've joined the local scene. I've only been a few times during happy hour, but would love to check out the vibe late night even though I only work and no longer live in the area. Daquiris are great. Mint lemonade with your choice of booze on a hot day! They probably should try to have more than one bartender on at a time, though because when there are more than 5 patrons in the place, service gets dramatically slowed down. Let me start by saying the bartender was extremely personable, there is a mini-bowling arcade in the back corner and it has craft beers on tap. All great things. But the setting is pretty spartan and the craft selection on tap during my visit wasn't anything that would make me want to plan a special trip back. Keep in mind, I came here as a spot on my beer passport and I've already tried 60 different craft beers the month before arriving here. I would say I'm a bit more picky when evaluating the tap selection. This seems like it'd make for a good neighborhood bar though. read more

Came to this bar this afternoon after a nice trip to Riverside Park. Been hearing about this place for awhile & I had to stop by. Love the polish wood exposed brick decor. The bar is super divey & has a lot of locals coming in. Sat by the window booth with my girlfriend. I got the Bee Sting while my girlfriend got the Kickin Mule. Extremely affordable prices given the area. Both were good cocktails not our favorite but we're definitely invested in trying to find one on their menu. The bartender was really nice & was down to have a conversation with me whenever I came up to the bar to order another round. One of the best parts of this bar, its dog friendly! Had my Shiba Inu in here with us. Apparently the owner loves dogs & welcomes them with customers. I've seen lap dogs & German Shepard in here. Feel free to come by with your canine companion. This is a fantastic neighborhood bar. It was the perfect place to host my girlfriend's bday party. It's spacious with a nice open floor as well as lots of seating. The bartenders were great, very nice and attentive. The place got busy in a good way, never overwhelming, and the noise level remained manageable because the space is big enough to disperse the noise of conversation and music. We loved the Moscow Mule special cocktail menu - reasonably priced at $10 and pretty creative with revamping the Mule to be more than vodka. My favorite was the Stubborn Mule with bourbon. I think by the end of the night at least half of our party of 20ish people probably tried a Mule! There is also cider on draft, which is still somewhat unusual and always appealing for those who don't like beer. They had a great beer selection though as well, with some unique drafts. The decor is casual-classy with lovely exposed brick walls and butcher-block wood tables but the place is still super down-to-earth and friendly. All in all, this is a top-notch neighborhood bar and we will definitely be returning! Friday night at this place...loved it . There's a lot of space..the beers on tap are great...love their chalk board that lets you buy someone a drink later In the week. We had this brunette short bartender that was PISSY the whole time ...however, there's a blonde bartender that saved us from her. Literally the best bartender I've seen in a long time. She clearly runs the place. Love the unisex solo bathrooms. Love the menu on the chalk board. Loved it here. First time at this place for a one year old's birthday so I was a bit skeptical. I was also VERY wrong - this place is GREAT! My friends booked the place for 2 hours Saturday afternoon with an open bar for their son's party. What an awesome spot! It was spacious enough for everyone in our party to mingle and hang out - as well as for my little niece to run around and subsequently nap when she was worn out. The bartender was super friendly and it felt like he was part of the party. But the beer - wow, talk about a stellar list of rotating craft brews! I tried 3 and each was better than the one before. Unfortunately I don't remember the names but I did have the Bob's own brew and it was delicious! Once our party ended, we stayed to hang and continue drinking with the locals who came on in. Bob's Your Uncle is the best bar in the neighborhood for a few reasons. They have a large space, great drink prices (for Manhattan), many different board games and really friendly staff. Even dogs are allowed in! Random find on an outing for venting over drinks: Bob's your Uncle was PERFECT. This is such a low-key, dive bar with options to play board games, and bring take out or munchies from elsewhere. First come, first served, go and find yourself a spot to plop down on, preferably near an outlet to charge your phone or to bring your laptop and do work-ish. There is definitely a group of locals who consider this place their watering hole, which is cool. I was so very impressed with the drinking options. My friend and I attempted to find a corkscrew in the neighborhood bodegas for our wine bottle at 11pm. Failed. So we walked into this bar to grab quick drink. Sadly, this bar left a bad taste in my mouth and my friend who had just arrived from another state got a terrible impression of NYC bartenders. A female bartender at this bar barked at us for not listening to her question clearly and made a scene. She was obviously very attentive to the locals at this bar. Honestly, very unprofessional for her assuming we understand what she said and the drink was terrible, I think she did it on purpose. Bad customer service and disrespectful bartender who humiliated us. My mother was a bartending manager for over a decade and I know she would never tolerate an employee speaking to a customer with such disrespect for a misunderstanding. Clearly, this woman needs a customer service intervention course. Please don't go. Spend your money where people are kind and attentive... with much better drinks! read more

Easily my favorite dive bar in the UWS. They have their own beer called "Bob's Pil" which is not bad at all considering I'm a picky drinker. Went in on July 4th weekend to redeem our Good Beer Passports. The bartender was incredibly friendly and excited about us having the passport, which is not always how they react. Bob's Your Uncle is what every dive bar should be, and in Manhattan, it feels like an impossibility: cheap but delicious draft beers, super friendly bartenders, a formidable cocktail menu so cheap you'll buy several, and a vibe as welcoming as every Yelper before me has attested. They really want you to have a good time here, whether you're brand new or a familiar face. The pile of board games in the back is such a delight.
