Bocado is a very cute and cozy cafe in a great location on the UES! There is always a hussling and bussling about this place that intrigues you to make your way there. The service was extremely well and nothing to complain about that! All of the food we have gotten including the burger, mango salad, and tiramisu were all good! Visited 12/2/23. Stopped into Bocado while on the UES around 3pm for a late lunch/early dinner. Cute festive winter decor adorned the place. We were seated right away despite not having a reservation, so bonus points for this. The prices did feel a bit steep for both the brunch and lunch menus, however the best part was that a daily brunch special was being run with a free mimosa/bellini with the purchase of a meal. My mom and I split the quesadilla while my sister got the avocado and mango salad. The quesadilla was nothing earth shattering, but the chicken was cooked well and we liked that it came with a side. The salad my sister got was fresh and easy to eat-liked the mango. Sunday brunch day found this via Open Table and made a reservation for the bar. Arrived on time for the reservation and there were a couple seats at the bar, and cleared out quickly after my arrival so I became the only one. The staff was very polite and attentive. I ordered the French toast along with a glass of wine. French toast didn't need any syrup as the toppings were perfect. The side of bacon helped even out the sweetness. Typical Sunday brunch with friend. French toast is a must. It is well made and perfectly toasted. The caramel drizzled on top of whipped cream complemented the toast. Avocado and poached eggs with salad is just the regular one. Not very exciting to talk about. Overall Bocado was a great experience! We stepped on a hot summer day, and it was a great refuge from the heat. One of my go to local spots for dinner. Cute place with a mixed modern American and European feel. Servers are friendly, but sometimes don't return for a while. Weekend brunch is notably very busy here so would come early or try to avoid. Food is tasty and especially would recommend the skirt steak and the spicy seafood pasta. Food was good! I can't lie we came here after I did an 18 mile long run in Central Park and was so hungry that probably anything would have been good, but I was pleased with their brunch. The eggs Benedict was around $23 or $24 but came with one free drink (mimosa, Bellini, coffee or orange juice) so it isn't a bad deal. The potatoes were really yummy and had some peppers mixed in. My boyfriend liked his chorizo flatbread too. Strange that it was on the brunch menu though. We were seated right away, servers were kind and attentive, but the restaurant booked up quickly starting at 10:30/10:45am so make sure you get a reservation or get there early. The restaurant is a nice space and our server was pretty good. It does have a nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. We started with fried artichokes which were greasy with alot of leaves which were like eating straw. We targeted the hearts but still left an unpleasant memory. I had the salmon and my husband had the linguine bolognese. My salmon was cooked fine but the russian red kale w/quinoa was boring and just blah($34) . My husband said his bolognese had too sweet of sauce and not enough pasta. Bocado Cafe is well situated with ample sidewalk real estate. If you're driving by you can't miss it from the street. So if you're looking for outdoor dining, it will be open and there will likely be space for you. I didn't get to fully observe their covid protocols as we were among the first round of diners to arrive that day. We pretty much had an entire shelter to ourselves. There were heating elements (ceiling-hanging) but they were off center with regard to the tables. As for the food, my companion and I gravitated towards all of the same options (Great minds right?!) We had the "Bocado Burger" (avocado, applewood-smoked bacon, onions, fontina cheese, arugula and lemon aioli). The burger was great! For dessert we had the White Chocolate Mousse with Mango and Passion Fruit. The dessert is instagram worthy and drew immediate exclamations from patrons at a neighboring table. The dish tasted as good as it looked! We washed everything down with some bellinis and mimosas. I don't think they had a bottomless brunch option but don't let that deter you. This place is perfect for meeting someone from the BX halfway from Brooklyn (lol). If you need a place with tasty food for a nice "catch-up" with a friend, add this venue to your list. read more

Bocado has caught my eye many times when walking home from the 86th St station and we finally made it in. The food - delicious! I ordered a veggie burger and loved it. It wasn't a black bean or impossible style burger, instead it was more of a quinoa base with veggies mixed in. And I was able to swap in the Brussels sprouts as my side which were nice and garlicky. My only note is I wish the sprouts had a little more roast for a crunchy bite on the outside. The short rib special was delicious and a massive portion. The meat was falling off the bone and the roasted potatoes with it were amazing. Atmosphere - very cute date night or girls night vibes at night. Lots of small lights strung about and around the bar giving a really cozy vibe. Prices - reasonable for NYC. It was around $22 for the burger and $40 for the short ribs special (which was a massive potion). We both left with leftovers. Wine - we tried a rose and a glass of Malbec. I personally wouldn't order the rose again - there was nothing special about it but the Malbec was quite good. Service - friendly and attentive. I could have bought two gallons of orange juice for that price. Oh wait there is one other complaint. My salad was drenched with dressing. I really hate when restaurants add the dressing for you.
