Today I was walking through Coral Gables and got hungry, so I decided to give it another try after a couple of disappointments a few year back. We were greeted warmly and the service was outstanding, the staff was attentive, courteous, and always smiling, which really makes a difference. They started us off with complimentary arepitas de chicharrón that were excellent. I ordered the patacón de carne, which was packed with flavor, though the shredded meat came a little cold. We also got the patacón de pollo and we loved it. Both came with fresh avocado, tomato, and lettuce, and the green plantain was perfectly crispy. They also brought out their four house sauces (white, green, pink, and spicy) and every single one was fantastic. The portions were generous and more than enough for one person. I'm really glad my return visit was a positive experience. It reminded me why I loved this place so much, and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

What a mess! By the time I got to the wrong address and called to figure out what was going on, my food had been sitting for 30 min and I was still 15 min away from the right address + 25 min to where I was staying. I had ordered arepas, empanadas and ceviche. When I finally arrived to pick up I asked for the food to be remade specially the ceviche since I didn't feel comfortable eating something raw after it seating on the counter for over an hour due to their mistake. There was push back but they finally agree to re make the ceviche only. However the rest of the food was cold by the time we ate it. Very disappointing. Food was ok, not amazing or memorable

What a waste of money and time... Fishy taste and disappointment to its best. I was expecting amazing yummy food after seeing all those good looking milkshake posts on Instagram but what I found in this place is everything but that. To begin with there was no host to direct us to a table, all of the waiters were looking at us and no one reacted as if we weren't there... even the phone was ringing non stop and no one answered...after 3 minutes the host approached and directed us to the table. (There were literally 4 people eating in the restaurant) I ordered the Brazilian stake with sausage (what sausage???) the stake came with a side of "truffle fries" of course there was no truffle taste in there... and wok veggies (no flavor whatsoever) they forgot to bring the sausage... the chimichurri sauce tasted fishy which was a huge disappointment (how bad can you go wrong with a sauce...) the fat from the stake tasted fishy as well... the waiter brought the sausage when I finished my main dish and wasn't even cook in the inside, I didn't eat it. I had hope for the dessert..... no way...the churros taste like plastic and the milkshake is OK.... Not to mention the spoons were dirty with leftovers of chocolate.... que vergüenza.... 2/15/18: I've been to "Bocas Grill" (Brickell/Roads location in Miami) twice in one week and I almost don't want to say how amazing this place is because then it'll have a 2-hour wait line like the one in Orlando, ha, ha! Went for lunch the 1st time: ordered a small beef pincho (marinated in deliciousness) with a tasty side salad and fries (for $9.50). This was more than enough for a great lunch. Lunch the 2nd time: had the "Reina Pepiada" arepa (my husband is from Venezuela, and I lived there for a year) and this is, hands down, the BEST "reina" (sorry Arepazo 2 in Doral, yours is great, but the one at Bocas is excellent). The arepa is HUGE, very tasty (with grill marks) and GENEROUS with the filling of chicken mixed with avocado. Then, they make it special by placing extra slices of avocado on top-it doesn't get any better folks. My husband had the "Llanera" arepa-the grilled juicy meat spills out of it. I thought the prices for the arepas were a little on the pricey side until I saw the size and amount of filling-ONE arepa makes for a complete meal. I drank water both times I went, but going to try the drinks next time-the bar looks cozy and well stocked. The food presentation and service (by Franklin) was excellent both times, no complaints there. Outstanding experience! I came with my girlfriend and our server was Yanire, she was very nice and made suggestions on what to eat since she asked if it was our first time here. The food came out very quick, it left us both surprised, and it was sooooo good. Very good quality seafood and steak, also the fries are impeccable. The rest of the staff is also very attentive, after putting down the dessert menu and looking around for Yanire, another employee asked if everything was okay and if I needed to order something. The dessert came out very quick also, and it was delicious. Even after closing out and while writing this review, another employee refilled our water vase--something I actually haven't seen before. The variety of food was a tasty & interesting intro to Peruvian & Venezuelan fusion. Immediately loved the tequenos (fried cheese), arepas biodiversas, and green plantains with shrimp & guasacaca!!!! Our hostess/ waitress, Yanire welcomes ALL of our questions as well as provided a detail orientation into this fusion of delicious options including my new favorite summer adult beverage: Angel Falls, which is comprises of strawberries & cinnamon infused in Santa Teresa 1796 rum for 12 days then married with additional yummies: aperol liquor, pineapple, lime, & lots of fresh mint!!! This is my second time here and I definitely must said that this is the best restaurant in Coral way - Brickell by far. We started with tostones con camarón y guasacaca which is kind of a canapé but with tostones and saluted shrimp. I was in the mood for a steak and to my surprise they got a really good selection. NY, T-bone, skirt, picanha and the AMAZING Rib eye. 36 oz of pure prime flavor! Service was on top and we had the chance to try some of the home made cocktails that are basically result of infused liquor and fruits. Great customer service and very welcoming starting with the valet guy. Server was super nice while explaining to us the menue and answered all of our questions. As a Mexican-American whom never had this amazing kind of latin food, it was great to see pictures on the menue and have a server who had the patience to answer pur questions (btw server mentioned that the menue was recently changed to a better version which I found pretty self explanatory). The food and service were amazing. I've been there twice. I recommend the Cesar's hamburger, the pizca andina soup, the tostones with lomo saltado, the fried rice, and the parrilla. Everything was terrific. The flavors are a real thing. I really liked how the cooked the meat. Specifically, the hamburger's meat surprised me. It is actual angus beef cut into little pieces. This place was fantastic! Maura was a fantastic server and bartender. My friend and I walked in for a dinner Sunday night and sat by the bar. Service was amazing and we were taken care of very well. We got a platter to share and it was more than enough food. I tried the Chicha, and it was pretty good (think of a thick horchata essentially). This is not your typical Huevos Rancheros in that it comes with a chicken cutlet, refried beans, cream, and a wedge of cheese. It was amazing and very filling. The enchilada was very fresh and was more taco/tostada than what you would expect. It was perfect. If you are near Little Havana, you must try this place!

That was one fine fine fine fine hot dog. * * * Although it does not say so on the menu. Any hot dog like dish here will come with enough French fries to feed a second grade classroom. You will NOT go hungry. Me not knowing about the French fries ordered maduros and a salad. The waitress brought me their Caesar salad which is a family plate big enough to feed TWO second grade classrooms. (The amount of salad is about the same as the amount of French fries, but second graders eat more French fries than they do salad.) I had about six weeks of food there. For a minute, I thought I was in Havana Harry's. The side dishes were all pleasant enough but basic for what they were. With one exception. Caesar salads in Colombia have flat squares of a salty slightly bitter cheese and an alternative version of a Thousand Island dressing. The alt dressing and the alt cheese go together just fine. This is one good salad well worth having again. * * * The Choripan is a total destination dish. The side accompaniments are completely pleasant for what they are. I would eat here again happily. Note that just one dish will hold you even if they call it an antojo. White boxes exist for those who succumb to temptation.
