Even though I didn't really care for the service, I have continued to come here for the Nem Nuong rolls (#2 on the menu) throughout the years, taking them home instead of eating at the restaurant. I have to admit that on a recent visit where I actually ate in the restaurant, the service has drastically improved from what I remember when I first wrote this review. Our female server was sweet and friendly. Much different from the surliness that I had experienced a while ago. I had heard that they recently changed owners and that the new chef wasn't as good as the old chef. Apparently, my gossip sources are saying that the new chef seems to be improving because old patrons are starting to return. The service seems to have improved and in my opinion, the Nem Nuong rolls are just as good as when I first started eating them years ago. :) The Nem Nuong rolls are the spring roll-type treats with the grilled ground pork, lettuce and delightful crunchy piece of what seems to be fried, thin egg roll wrapper. Sounds pretty weird, but is oh so addicting. The warm dipping sauce is interesting in appearance - thick and yellow with bits of what look like crab. It doesn't sound like appetizing, but the sauce really adds another depth of ooey - gooey - salty - goodness on the oh so delightful rolls. There are four rolls in the appetizer order and I can seriously sit there and eat four of them as a meal. Just don't leave me alone with them if you expect to share them with me. Hubby got up to run after our punkin and came back to find the last bite, that I reluctantly relinquished to him. Oftentimes, we'll order these rolls for a party. When taking out for a large group or party, make sure you call in your order and have them ask for the rolls to be individually wrapped instead of wrapped four to a plate. This place is more for people who like quantity of quality. Normally when I go out and eat pho I order the large bowl and when I'm finished I am not quite satisfied. However at Bodards they give you the option of ordering a Super Bowl. I can safely say that every time I eat the Super Bowl at Bodards I leave with my belly full and depending on the day I maybe close to a food coma. This place been around for years. They use to be in downtown until they moved to Bellaire where all the Asians are located. The douche waiter gave only 2 menus when there was 5 people and wanted to take orders already when 2 of the 5 people walked in last and wasn't able to look at the menu. The NEM NUONG is the BOMB!!!!!!! It's to die for *drools* I don't think theres any other restaurant that makes it good as Bodard. The dipping sauce is Hella good too! Beside the Nem Nuong, I also order the Bun Bo Hue. I'm a fan of this and to me, it was nasty! I had better at other places. It lacks flavor or something. When it came out, I thought it'd be a small bowl. My eyes got HUGE when I saw how big the bowl was. Overall I HIGHLY recommend the Nem Nuong when you come here. read more

There are only a few things on the menu that are good at this location. Perhaps the fact that they run a lot of specials such as buy 3 soups and get 1 free is a great deal or that they open pretty late as well. The Nem Nuong is probably one of the best meals here. It's 4 rolls to an order and very filling. If you decide to order this by yourself with a meal, you'll be taking the meal home for another course. The Nem Nuong is fresh, very thick, filling and the sauce that compliments it goes really well with the rolls. The Wonton Noodle soup is not recommended. I've had it twice here and figured I'd give it another shot, but it appears the broth lacks flavor. Service here is a hit and miss at times. They're either extremely nice and efficient or just don't give a crap. read more

I only came here for the Nem Nuong Cuon Nha Trang style. The sauce was actually on par with Brodard's in LA (the gold standard for this dish). The Nem was not quite as tasty. Overall, this place is worth going to just for this dish since very few places make it. read more

Ate here several times with my friends and I have to give them credit for having faster service than other restaurants, but still not good enough to warrant another star. I usually get pho with chicken and it definitely hits the spot. They give hearty portions and the spring rolls are delicious! Especially the sauce they give to eat it with. On my first trip to Houston, I have to say that there are many good pho places. Bodard is no exception. I know they are famous for their spring rolls, but I opted for a bowl of pho with everything in it. Not sure why I super sized it because their regular bowl is other store's large size. This is one of those rare occasions when I wasn't able to finish the whole bowl. The broth was rich and sweet and basil fresh. I did notice that they didn't use lime, but instead lemon wedge. The tripe was a bit on the fatty side but had good flavor. Was it the best pho that I've ever had? no, but this is easily in the top 85%. This place is famous by their goi cuon nem nuong which is very delicious. Their Thai hot pot is also good. Broth is flavorful, seafood is fresh. My hubby loves it a lot. I saw canh bún in menu so I tried it one time. Canh bun is somehow like bun rieu but it is a little different. Canh bun has bigger noodle and serves with water spinach. That is the worst canh bun ever in my life. Broth is bland, pork blood is nasty.... Awwww, yucky, never order again. Their canh chua ca kho to is good. Love it a lot. Aside from getting the Nem Nuong as take out for my Friday festivities I've decided to come here last Friday to dine in and it was a horrible experience. I had the vermicelli special and the noodles were way over cooked, eggrolls were over fried, and it was just a very unpleasant experience. My friends told me that their pho was super bland and the worst pho they have ever had. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is the fact that they have the best Nem Nuong in town. I think just alone the Nem Nuong is keeping this business alive and I would avoid eating anything else here. read more

Of coursed we had nem nuong rolls which are consistently good. My husband usually doesn't like rolls but he kept commenting that he thought they were really good. He had the shaken beef. Good flavor but not enough beef and too much bell pepper. I got the banh xeo which is crispy but admittedly pretty greasy. It isn't the best banh xeo but does the trick with a craving. I like that they gave me plenty of vegetables and I usually or eating it with Thai peppers and they brought me out 4 spicy ones! I will be back to try the canh chua and ca kho. read more

I had a beef stew noodle soup and it was almost perfect. I say almost, because it was a bit too salty. Otherwise, it had tons of meat in it (variety of tendons and fatty brisket), tons of noodles, and the consistency of the stew was just right. Flavor was all there ... except for too much salt. Price was under six bucks too. Definitely would give them another shot. They just need to tone down on the salt. read more

It's similar to the difference of pastries you would buy at a wholesale store compared to a small bakery. It just tastes so bland. The service here isn't that great either, they're pretty rude. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! This place use to be decent. Now it has gone down hill. We order $50 worth of food Togo. Brought it home and the rice was rotten the pineapple in the soup was bad. The whole meal was ruin. We called to complain the denied it and said bring it back in they will replace the food. This place is not close to where I live. We showed up at 11am on Sunday for lunch. I got the vermicelli with grilled pork and eggrolls and he got the chicken pho. The service was attentive but not over-bearing, which we both appreciated. There was a very light crowd on Sunday and the shopping center had not yet become the monster that it could be on the weekends. I only had two concerns: I wasn't sure if they took credit cards but Yelp helped me out on that one and the chicken in the pho had a weird consistency where it seemed like it was sitting in a sauce for a long time. It was super soft and didn't have the feel of chicken. Weird but I can't say that the taste was affected at all so in the end we just shrugged our shoulders and kept eating. read more

So the only thing I've ever tried here is the Nem Nuong, and it is DE-LI-CIOUS! I mostly just get this stuff to go. These rolls have pork sausage, crispy egg roll skin, lettuce and green onion all wrapped in rice paper. And it comes with this yummy dipping sauce that looks like egg drop soup (but it isn't). I've tried other nem nuongs at other vietnamese restaurants, but nothing compares to this place. read more

Ordered some spring rolls to go. When I went to eat it later, the lettuce in there was noticebly stale. Called back to complain. The lady that finally answered the phone was totally rude and agressive. I have eaten here many times and never had a problem with their food until this time. This is very much my favorite pho place on Bellaire Blvd. when I'm in that part of town (otherwise in downtown go to Huynh, in Pearland go to Pho 518). SOOOOO CHEAP and they stay open very late! The bowls of pho are HUGE and the spring rolls are great! I love their fried rice here but it isn't my number one favorite. The serve tapioca/boba tea here, which I love. Get the thai tea with bobas, I think you'll enjoy it. One thing I wish was different was the charge minimum for credit cards. I rarely carry cash and you have to spend at least $10 here to charge to your charge. Normally, at most restaurants it would be hard to reach a $10 minimum, but since everything is so cheap here, you really have to be hungry to order enough food to reach $10. As far as customer service goes, it's so-so. Honestly, you'll probably never talk to a waiter again once your food is brought out to you. Overall, I love this place and once I'm done eating here, I go shopping in the same little shopping center. read more

I don't know what happened in the last two years but the spring rolls were flavorless and tasted old while the dipping sauce was cold and just off. I'm so disappointed!
