A friend suggested we give this place a try - Bode's makes for a nice evening out in a cozy spot. Start off downstairs with a well made cocktail (enter the Speakeasy in the back), then move upstairs for dinner I had the bolognese - very good, a bit creamy, filling. Also had the meatballs, I love a good meatball app and it was also very good.....soaked up the sauce with the bread. After dinner, move back downstairs for a digestive and perhaps some music. The owner is on site in the restaurant and has interesting stories to tell, very interesting guy! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect but was so pleasantly surprised with my experience at Bode Gray's! We randomly stopped in for lunch with a vague idea of the menu and ended up ordering the pesto burrata for an appetizer and the forager for a main dish. Both were delicious but the presto burrata really wowed me as the different ingredients and flavors they imbued into a relatively simple dish made it stand out! The forager was really delicious and unlike any other pizza I have had before. It was a bit rich with the goat cheese base but the flavors came together really nicely and I found it to be the perfect pizza to share. I will definitely be back to try the dinner and menu! read more

Bode Gray's was pretty good, not spectacular, not bad. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and the pesto burrata to start. Service was strange. When I walked in I gave the hostess her the name of our reservation which seemed to confuse her so I waited just a touch to get seated with my friends. When I sat down our server immediately asked what we wanted to drink, I hadnt had a chance to get the menu in my hands. We asked for a minute, which he gave us exactly so we still weren't quite ready. Then it took quite a while for him to come back after that. We ended up ordering apps with our drinks as well. About 20 minutes later we received a couple to go boxes- we sent these back as we didnt order anything to go. another 20 minutes went by and our appetizers were still not brought out to us. Our waiter came by and we figured out it was out appetizers just packaged togo instead of for here. Our food arrived a few minutes after the appetizers. The stuffed mushrooms were a little bland. The pesto burrata was very good- we ate it like a pizza. I got the steak and it was cooked just the way I like it. The caramelized mushroom sauce was more creamy than I was expecting but it was still good. The pizza was pretty simple. All in all the food was pretty good, but the service felt pretty unorganized. read more

Hands down the best pizza on the west side, not just in waconia! we love the Bianca pizza for how fresh it is and the fennel sausage pizza. We usually pick up to go so like to add mikes hot honey to the sausage pizza- makes it a knockout! The one time we ate in person, right after they opened I wasn't impressed by the tortellini- would t go back for pasta. Great atmosphere and great service though! Love the speakeasy in the basement too for a different cocktail menu and atmosphere! read more

I'm usually a pretty positive reviewer, so it's rare and hard for me to give 2 stars. We tried to come a few weeks prior and were turned away because we didn't have a reservation--the host didn't give us an option to eat at the bar or wait. We then made reservations for tonight. When we arrived, we were told that our table wasn't ready when we got there. No big deal, despite other open tables we didn't mind waiting, but the wait to be sat, wait to get water, and wait to get greeted by our server took so long that we didn't get our drinks until over 45 mins past our reservation. At least half the tables around us were empty so we didn't understand the delay. The romaine and kale Caesar didn't have kale? And it was like a knock off of the salad at Olive Garden. The forager pizza was ok, ravioli was underwhelming, I feel like it should be clarified as a toasted ravioli. We tried this place when it first opened and weren't impressed for many reasons. We chalked it up to growing pains and decided to try again. The old fashioned was good, but we won't be giving the food a third chance. read more

A great option for food and drinks in a small town. We were very excited to see a new restaurant (and equally excited for the downstairs speakeasy) in our area. The food was very good. We've been here a few times now and have gotten the pizzas, smashed potatoes, burrata, piccata, meatballs and focaccia (not in one sitting ). We liked all options. The smashed potatoes are highest on our list, with the pizzas coming next. Our service was pretty good, they may be a hair understaffed but are still getting their legs under them. The setting is inviting and clean. They have great drinks as well. A nice selection of cocktails and brews. read more

Inhad low expectations and good thing - Pizza was not good. Bottom of crust was undercooked. Toppings were uninspiring. We got a white pizza and sausage. Overpriced, much better pizza options for the same money elsewhere, like in Wayzata. We did take out so cannot comment on service. read more

Dining at Bode grays was one of the biggest let downs for us while dining out. The service was one of the worst I have ever experienced. After being sat, we were completely ignored for 12 mins. We should have just left at this point, but we stuck it out. When our server finally did arrive he was nothing but rude and made us feel we greatly inconvenienced him in this night. We did how ever enjoy our food. When it came time to tip however we did tip accordingly to the service we received. A small tip. 2 days later I checked my credit card statement and found that their server actually adjusted our tip to 20%. I had to call them to get this adjusted. They didn't seem to concerned about the ordeal. Beware when dining at Bode Grays. read more

Wow, what happened to Bode Grey's service. We have been to the Waconia Italian Pizza restaurant before and had Ok service but good food. My wife and I had an early Wednesday evening reservation. The restaurant was moderately busy. After 30 minutes of waiting for any type of service we finally decided that there are lots of other restaurant choices and left. read more

The food was impeccable. We started with oysters and the duck starter..Perfectly cooked. For mains we spilt the prosciutto wrapped sea bass with butternut squash ravioli and the blue cheese crusted steak on a bed of potatos and light sharp white cheese sauce.. Everything was cooked to perfection. The broth with the sea bass was so flavorful to could taste the time, love, and attention to the balance of flavors. Restaurant is small, cozy and cute. Service was good, but sorely lacking in education about gluten free items which by the way there aren't many. Food was ok. Nothing exceptional and definitely pricey. We don't mind paying $$ for delicious food, but this was mediocre. Speakeasy downstairs was fun. The drinks were powerful and delicious. I am a really positive person and I hate doing this, but I have never had a worse experience in my life at a restaurant. Our family of 6 went to Bode Grays tonight to celebrate a belated birthday for our 13 year old. We got there, one of the servers body checked another and she spilled the whole glass tray of waters all over us. Breaking glass on the table and my kids. The manager came over and started to wipe it up, I had to ask to be moved to another table as there were glass shards all over. We were super nice about it all, accidents happen, not the waitresses' fault. Moved tables, ordered food and plenty of drinks. Not one single thing comped, not one kids meal or drink. I went up to ask the manager about it. He says "I thought we were all good, accidents happen" I said yes, they do, but considering you broke glass all over my kids and spilled water all over them and then I had to ask to be moved to avoid glass shards, I thought at least a kids meal or something would be done. He offered a discount on a future meal...no thanks. We spent $210, and I tipped the waitress another $40 and left. I wont be back again. I love to support small businesses that actually support the community back. We have been to and love the theater next door a million times, that guy knows service. read more
