My husband and I have rented houses with BBE for a few years now and we have never been disappointed. Yes, one house we rented was a bit run down, but Bodega is old and not all of the properties have been updated. Not their fault, but the fault of the owners. So we didn't rent that house again. We are repeat customers to Bodega Bay Escapes. This is our 3rd year renting from them and each time we had great results ! I figured it's time to leave a review. Don't remember the first house we rented but It was OK 3 stars. I remember the second one and it's called Marisol (this one was 4 stars). And now we rented Golden Eye for our 15 yrs anniversary. The best of the three is "Golden Eye". It's very clean and well packed with all the needed amenities. What I also love is the ocean view from our Master Bedroom =) Oh I forgot to mention that it's located on a court a little tucked away but I liked that. The back yard is backing into the golf course and there's a jacuzzi tub which is very clean and well maintained. Will definitely return to this house again ! I'm not sure about the review below me left on 4-3-2017 but I'm having a great time in this house & it is very clean. I'm questioning that review because it's the total opposite from what I see. The jacuzzi is crystal clear and that can't be said often of other places I rented. I came here with my family on the weekend of August 12th, 2016. We stayed at The Condor House and our experience was subpar.. For a total of around $650 for two nights (pretty overpriced in my opinion considering the quality of the home), we got a house that was decent but with a number of problems. I don't know how cleaning works but it seems to me they only do the bare minimum. Some problems: 1. We found a number of cobwebs as well as spiders left over on the walls of our room with a spider in the corner that was VERY easily noticeable had they made an effort to do a routine cleaning. (Picture attached) 2. The light above the shower was not working so it was hard to take a shower at night as well as kinda creepy for the younger kids. (Picture attached) 3. The tv box in the downstairs room was not working. We checked everything to make sure it was plugged in but when we pressed the power button. It just didn't turn on. (Picture attached) 4. Lastly, there were remains of a dead spider on a pillow in the living room which could have been easily spotted had housekeeping been more thorough with their cleaning. When the office was notified of these things, they didn't really care. They said they'd let the homeowners know. I think at this point with that many problems in hand with their home, an apology would have been nice or maybe even a discount. For cleaning, they made us take all the linens and used towels and put it on their bathroom floor and take out the garbage.. I understand that this makes it easier for housekeeping but if we are paying over $600 for or stay here, I'd assume it wouldn't kill housekeeping to go and take the linens off the bed themselves. That really shouldn't be the job of any guests who are paying money to stay at any of your vacation homes. I will say, however, that the people at the "office" (it's really a home out of nowhere which require a bit of a drive to get there from the actual vacation homes) were nice and whenever I called about information, they sounded happy to help prior to our stay. But I don't think we will be working with this company again due to what appears to be lack of cleaning care for their homes and their many weird policies.. It doesn't seem like this is a company they're passionate about. read more

These people care about their job and you! We rented "The Cabin" in Salmon Creek, Ca and what a quiet little cabin right on the creek with a deck and all amenities! The first night the cable was down so we were settled in and didn't want to go to Hwy 1 to get reception. The next day we stopped in to Bodega Bay Escapes and the two girls there were so cordial and were on the phone in a minute calling the owners. They handled it very professionally yet they really cared about us and our needs. Cable on when we arrived back to the place. They also offer many DVD's to take back with you. We were very impressed by them! They gave us a binder with notes on where to eat, places to go, and maps and brochures. When we left on a Sunday before their office opened we were able to put the DVD's and binder in the mail slot so that we didn't have to wait! 5 stars for caring people who know what they are doing!! read more

DVDs and books for loan; and they let us borrow their printer =D CONDOR rental - Cozy cottage; comfortable beds; induced laziness ;) Some of the fixtures, such as bathroom showers and dishwasher, need to be updated. Tankless water heater and water softener should be next investment. Otherwise, nice open floor plan with windows that welcome beautiful (but partial) sunrise and sunsets. We will be back. Cozy gem close to beach (walk is 10 min., dog friendly and lots of local markets with local cheese. Caution - very expensive, so pack food in a cooler before you come. We stayed on the Oyster Catcher Sunday to Wednesday. We were so excited because the house was beautiful!! And then the issues started. One of the main reasons we rented this house was due to the spa. My dad had injured his back and was so excited to spend time in the spa. Well trying to get the spa situated is says 104 is the temp and was more like 80 maybe. We tried to get it warmed up for hours and nothing worked so we called the rental place and they were going to send someone out to look at it. The next best thing was the bath tub with jets. I have a bad back and was so excited to go in the tub since the spa wasn't working. I go to start filling the tub only to find out that the stopper was broken... They said they would send someone out to fix that as well. Both within the hour, Casey showed up fast to fix the tub but the other guy took hours. Casey was great super nice but unfortunately didn't fix the tub. He said he had fixed it with rubber bands and I went to use it and it was exactly the same. I even tried putting a rock on the stopper I was that desperate to use the tub and water still was draining out. When the spa guy finally showed up he said the spa is old and takes forever to heat up. Which they should have replaced then or not advertised it. He drained some of the water and serviced it and told us hopefully it would be hotter the next day. So in the morning it was a tad bit warmer and my dad was able to go in it one time. One time those 4 days. And then the rain started after that with the crazy winds. That night we were planning to bbq only to find out the bbq was broken... The view was amazing and we were excited to see it but the blinds were broken in one of the rooms downstairs and you couldn't lift them to enjoy the view. The house took forever to cool down we had to call them about that as well because my room was so hot and it was too much for my 5 month old. They said they had some fancy system but it took forever and opening windows to even make it livable. We decided to make some drinks in the blender only to have the liquid spill out all over the counter. The blender was broken as well. Tried the food processor and it still came out the top of it. I'm sorry but don't you check the appliances after each stay? The fire alarm went off twice once due to steam in the bathroom? Woke up my daughter it was so loud. When my mother spoke to Jessica she gave her an attitude and didn't care to make things right. She said she would call the homeowners and call my mother back and never bothered to give us a call both days! I could understand maybe one of two things going wrong but this many things?? Then we had the unfortunate experience of the power going out for 12 hours! There was a list saying there was flashlights in all the drawers in the rooms and the garage etc. We found 2 and one didn't work. There was one candle and one lantern thing for that huge house. Thankfully Casey brought by candles and flashlights but they should have been there to begin with. The storm was very intense and it seemed that the roof was leaking in the kitchen. Such a disappointing experience and this was our first time trying this rental company and possibly the last unless they can rectify this situation. And Jessica needs to learn how to deal with paying customers better. We would love to stay in that house again if they can fix it! We had also asked about a trail to the beach and Jessica said it was near the club house which was rather far. But there was a trail right by our house. You would think they would know where the trails and such were near the houses. read more

This is a long overdue review. Learned a lot renting through them for several years. The issues we have encountered in a few homes were issues with the actual property owners not keeping up their homes..which is separate from Bodega Bay Escapes. We tried numerous homes over the years sometimes encountering ants and not so clean homes. Most of these issues are from homes that often vacant..the popular ones are obviously cleaned and inhabited more. Bodega Bay Escapes manages the rental aspect and can only suggest homeowners perform maintenance or other issues. I would suggest reading the home reviews or call/email and ask questions (all of the staff is friendly) before selecting a house. When you find a well maintained home your family/friends enjoy then become repeat visitors to that property. Bodega Bay Escapes has been easy to work with each time even when we were not satisfied with a property. We will not rent from anyone else. Another thing we picked up along the way: Bodega Bay Escapes does not charge an additional cleaning fee either..the others do and it's about $200 and up on top of published rates. read more

My advice is avoid this overpriced agency at all costs. Stay in Santa Rosa and drive to the beach and back. We rented a 3 bdrm house on the golf course "called heaven on the ninth". There were so many issues that it was a miserable and very costly stay, the major ones were: 1) at least 13 indoor lights were burnt out...we had to hang around until 1pm our second day for a maintanance worker to work on replacing lights (he still never replaced the important ones) 2) the stone stairway from garage was not lit and very dangerous causing us to park on the street instead of the driveway 3) several electrical outlets did not work 4) the coffee pot was broken 5)The carpet was stained throughout (looked like wine stains). 6)The rental agency blamed the owner and was of no help what so ever. Again my advice is avoid this overpriced agency at all costs. Stay in Santa Rosa and drive to the beach and back. read more

Two couples, we rented "Seaside Escape" for three nights in July. Pros: Great location and amazing views Cons: Small, uncomfortable beds (seemed smaller than queen size) with bedding that was too big for the mattress and was the opposite of crisp. The pillows seemed made of chopped up foam and were awful. There were a great many lights in the ceiling of the living room, dining room and kitchen but the lighting was grim - there was no where to sit and read at night. The one small lamp in the living room had a broken switch and couldn't be turned on. The hot tub (which is listed as a main feature of the house) is old and didn't work and there were no instructions. We were told to check the circuit breaker which enabled us to turn the tub on but the jets were broken. Then the jets went off in the middle of the night when no one was in the tub. The dishwasher door would not close so it had to be either left open or we had to put heavy furniture in front of it to prevent it from falling open. The phone in the house didn't work and there was no cellphone coverage. There were a lot of cigarette butts on the ground right outside the front door of the house. When we returned the keys to Bodega Bay Escapes, they were not at all interested in hearing about our experience and expressed no concern about whether or not everything worked. read more

I have been doing business with Bodega Bay Escapes for many many years. The staff has been extremely professional and helpful for all these years. I do a lot of vacation home renting and Bodega Bay Escapes is on the top of my list. Most times people do not realize that the condition of the homes should fall back on the owner. If the owner is not keeping up on the maintenance or the items stocked, the home is going to go down hill fast. Rental agents can only work with what they are provided. I think in 18 years I only ran into one home where the cleaning was not entirely completed. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile. As a business owner I absolutely know that employees are not perfect. I absolutely love Pam and her staff and they have been more than gracious to me and my family and friends. The staff was very friendly and the rental house, Sea Breeze, was in a great neighborhood. However, 2 days after returning home from our weekend getaway my son and 3 other children who were with us were diagnosed with folliculitis-a bacterial infection of the hair follicles due to unsanitary hot tubs. Our children spent the weekend enjoying the hot tub and it is clear that was not properly santized. It required doctors visits and antibiotics. When I contacted BBE and shared what happened, I received no response of any kind to my email. I later called and left a phone message and am still waiting a reply. Also, the house had ant issues and was in desparate need of an upgrade. For 700.00, not worth it!! read more

Bodega Bay Escapes Miwok Escape I rented last summer for one week. The property was very nice and clean had plenty of room for our group seven. Upon arrival the hot tub was running and ready which I thought was a nice touch. Liked Miwok Escapes so much that I rented it again and looking very forward to our stay there this coming weekend. The Staff was very friendly and very helpful. The free DVD's was great and they also had The Birds in there DVD library that was good to watch and set the mood for touring the area and checking out the old Potter School house. The home was dog friendly. The small markets are very expensive, we found a Safeway at 406 N Main St, Sebastopol, CA that was about a 20 minute drive from Bodega Bay. read more

They have been very helpful with special requests, and they put me in direct touch with house owners when I wanted additional information. They have also helped me arrange for additional services such as a car service. Unfortunately, we are unlikely to be able to even have our stay in Bodega Bay because the reservation agent, Jessica, cancelled our reservation without formal notice. No calls, no emails. We had asked if there was flexibility in the rental given the air quality, which she took to mean we wanted to cancel our reservation entirely. This was not communicated to us in any way until we called on the day our rental was supposed to begin and we were told it was no longer available. They have several thousand dollars of ours in their possession, and have made no attempt to remedy the situation. Our attempts to make contact - calls, emails, requests to speak with the manager - have been completely avoided. Completely unacceptable, and quite frankly, disappointing. read more

We had a great time at the shell beach home. It was a little old and run down but that was ok with us. After our stay we were asked to rate our stay on escapia. The managers waited two weeks after our stay and to see a good review before we were told that the hot tub turned green and we were getting charged for it. All this after there was no chlorine In the hot tub and the owner of the property called and asked us to turn the tub very low to save on energy costs. I have contacted the property management with no response. We are saddened because we hoped to go back many times. read more

My girlfriends and i had been planning a trip to Bodega for months, When we arrived at the posted address it was under construction and the place next door was Bodega Bay and Beyond (obviously a different company). We did not have cell service. It was incredibly frustrating how much time we wasted until we finally found the office. I would say two stars for poor communication and lack following up... I am currently staying at the Grebe Residence which is managed by BBE. We've been dealing with bad sewage smells the whole weekend. When we contacted the office at Bodega Escapes they sent their "maintenance professional" to investigate the smells. When he arrived at the house he said he couldn't smell anything, and blames it on the ac filter ( when we removed the filter there was inches of filth on both sides). There were 9 adults staying and every single one of us smelt it. Matt (the maintenance man) looked at us, shrugged his shoulders and stared at us. When questioned further about what can be done, he becomes angry and storms out of the residence, slamming the door on his way. When we called the office back about these grievances Pam at BBE has nothing but attitude, snide comments, and condescension. She was informed about the maintenance man who stormed out and she said "that didn't happen" The advertisement for the residence says there is a TV in every room, which was completely untrue. The TV in the living room didn't even work the first day we were here. There are ants in every room. Just one thing after another. This place makes money from renting subpar residences and follows it up with piss poor service. You should definitely avoid using this company. read more

We rented a house for 6 on the golf course last weekend. The house is called Marisol. The view was great but the house, not great. Not very clean. Smelled very musty. They only provided 6 bath towels for our 3 night stay. I called to ask if we could get more towels as we didn't want to use the same towel for the hot tub and the shower. I was told that their policy was to provide 1 towel per guest and that they encourage folks to bring beach towels for the hot tub,(I don't recall anyone saying anything about bringing our own towels), and that I was welcome to use the washer and dryer on the property. Also, the linens in the master bedroom smelled like soured laundry/dirty socks. Disgusting. We won't use this company for our next visit to Bodega Bay. read more

We rented Golden eye and it was obvious the home had not been cleaned or used for awhile before our stay. Dead bugs were everywhere, spiders all over and cob webs throughout. Any were feasting on crumbs. I lost track of the number of lights burned out. None of the windows had screens on them, especially unsafe for upstairs. Towels and beds were old and stinky. I understand certain elements of these houses are up to the owners but a rental company should at least make sure the home is clean for you. I have rented with Bodega Bay and Beyond before and will probably go back to them in the future. read more

After having horrible experiences with AirBnb and VRBO, I found Bodega Bay Escapes and was very pleased. The person I talked with on the phone was very helpful in finding houses for our group of 7 to choose from. I decided on the Seagull House and it was perfect. The pictures do not do it justice. It is very spacious and the location is incredible. The only nearby house is on the garage side so it is very private with great views. It is a quick walk on the golf cart path to the beach. We had one rainy day but it didn't matter as we had a pool tournament and with great food and drinks. The hot tub is located in a private area off the game room with beautiful views of the stars. From the checking in to checking out..everything was perfect. We will definitely make a return trip! read more

We rented Condor House for 2 nights. The folks at the Bodega Bay Escapes office were lovely to deal with and I would give them more than 2 stars. The house itself needs attention and general maintenance. We found it to be dusty and musty with large cob webs throughout most rooms. Generally speaking the place just needs freshening up. The dishes & utensils need a good through scrubbing. The dishwasher appeared to be musty so we didn't use it. Some bedding and towels showed their age and had bleaching and fading discoloration....just not what I expected for the price. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, soft and saggy. Again, it's age and wear and just has not been tended to. read more

We rented the Seaside Escape house for three nights. The booking process was easy and the house was as advertised. Originally, we found the house on VRBO. When we were directed to the Bodega Bay Escapes page, the nightly rate was a little higher, but the house was still worth it. The pictures and descriptions of the house were accurate, and I'm always disappointed when they're not. The key pickup/check-in was amazingly easy. They hand you a binder with information on the house and area. We found both quite helpful. Because no one was coming in the day we left, they gave us a late checkout of 1:00, so we hit the beach one more time. They also have an extensive library of DVDs that renters can check out for free. A great experience with a rental agency that we hope to use again. read more

The beds were uncomfortable, the BBQ was filthy, the oven had grease left in it and it smoked the whole house up, there were rat droppings under the sink, and garbage was full and we were unable to put our garbage out and to end the 4 day trip we ran out of toilet paper on day 3....bad experience for a high price. read more

BEST VACATION HOME EVER! My family rented a home from Bodega Bay Escapes just a little while ago for the Fisherman's Festival! It was an immaculate home, and we couldn't have had a better experience. The home was called Ventana De Bodega, and it was great walking distance to the festival, easy access to the pier at the marina, were we saw seals & birds and watched the boats come in! What an enjoyable little area. Such an incredible home with 3 master suites & an AWESOME commercial class kitchen! Boy did we like cooking in there ! We'll definitely be back for some more fun and will absolutely be staying with Bodega Bay Escapes again! read more
