This is a great, quaint place to hang out on lazy weekends and the staff is extremely friendly. I come here every year for the holidays and I love it more every time. I'm not sure why, but I feel really zen'd out and at peace while here. Maybe its the ocean air or quietness of the area, but its quiet healing. The internet drops in and out frequently at the inn so be mindful of this if any work is being done remotely. Most of the places shut down early. Food in the area is so-so but there is a grocery store there that can sell you great stuff for picnics or in-room dining. The scenery makes up for everything though. You'll have to see for yourself to know what I am talking about. The inn itself is very comfortable and clean and they are always making improvements like being able to check out DVDs and the new TV room. I will definitely come back soon. read more

The room had a few drawbacks. It had been updated, but badly. We did have an adorable private patio and a nice jetted tub. What the room lacked was much information on the facilities. There was no breakfast offered but all the Keurig coffee we could want. I found the kitchen on my own. It was huge and well stocked. If we'd been there long enough we would have enjoyed fixing a meal there. What made up for any negatives was the very friendly and warm welcome from Tim. He provided us with a full bottle of wine, glasses and a corkscrew because he knew we were celebrating our anniversary. On arrival were greated by Sara such a sweetheart very knowledgeable about the area and actually recommended the spot where me and my future husband are probably going to get married. Our home burned down in the Oct 2017 Santa Rosa fires. We arrived at Bodega Bay Inn about 4 am totally freaked out with our 2 elderly dachshunds, and we were afraid we would not get a room. I went to the office, and the reception person called the manager, Kevin, who came to the office immediately. Kevin assured us we wouldn't be turned away. Kevin and his wife Tammy were awesome as were all the staff at the inn. We stayed at Bodega Bay Inn for two weeks, and we were assured we wouldn't have to leave until we found a more permanent place to stay. I can't thank Kevin, Tammy, and the owners of the inn enough for all they did to help us. We are looking forward to returning for a stay at the inn under better circumstances. I was very excited to have a romantic change of scenery with my boyfriend. We both lead very busy lives and when an opportunity presented itself to get the heck out of town, we definitely took it. I searched the internet two nights before our planned stay and Bodega Bay Inn seemed most suitable for the two of us. Check in was at 3pm but we arrived around one and they were nice enough to let us check in early. We got a tour by a sweet lady named Peggy who did her best to point us in the right direction for veg food in and out of the house. When we were finally shown our room I was a little disappointed by its location. As Rachel S. mentioned, our room (The Library: room #4) was one foot away from the front desk. My problem with that wasn't that I didn't want them hearing us, but that I had a terrible headache and every time I tried to nap I had to listen to the next couple being checked in (and telling their life stories). It was not a very relaxing experience for the first five hours of our stay there. I woke up from my broken nap around 6pm and drove to Sebastopol (about 25 minutes away) in search of delicious vegan food. If you are vegetarian/ vegan there are not many options for you in Bodega Bay and it is worth the (very beautiful) drive to Slice of Life in Sebastopol. We got back to our hotel around nine or so and after that it was very peaceful and private. I would have liked to do some work online, but unfortunately the wifi was not working during our whole stay. In the morning we woke up served ourselves some cereal with soy milk (that they provided). Overall this was a nice experience. We are not people who need to be pampered, who do not go on vacation to watch television in a hotel room, and who appreciate being self sufficient people. From the beginning to the end, everything was awesome! The manager greeted us with a smile, and gave us our tour. We added a bottle of champagne for our stay, and it was such a nice way to begin our getaway. Our room was cozy and charming, and we loved our giant balcony, shower, and the heat worked really well! The communal kitchen is a nice touch with coffee makers, microwave, DVDs to bring back to your room, and more. You can also sit on one of the couches and relax with a book. Sent to the manager this morning. In addition to the following, this place is in disrepair. The outdoor surroundings don't appear to be being kept up at all. Hello, I wanted to let you know that we were VERY disappointed with the room. It is NOT an ADA accessible room. The following are huge issues that we encountered. I suggest you consider correcting them immediately. 1. The entry ramp does not have a usable incline for someone using a self propelled wheelchair. This is the legal requirement. 3232. Ramps. (a) General. Any path of travel shall be considered a ramp if its slope is greater than 1 foot rise in 20 feet of horizontal run. (Title 24, Part 2, Section 2-3306(a) without "Note.") (b) Width. The width of ramps shall be as required for exits. EXCEPTION: Existing ramps may have width as required for stairways. (Title 24, Part 2, Section 2-3306(b)(1).) (c) Slope. The maximum slope of a ramp that serves any exitway, provides handicap access or is in the path of travel shall be 1 foot rise in 12 feet of horizontal run. EXCEPTION: The slope of an existing ramp shall not exceed 1 foot rise to 8 feet horizontal run 2. The shower is NOT usable as NO hand held spray unit is provided. Also, installing a rain shower head ONLY in what is supposed to be an ADA shower is nothing short of asinine. If someone in a wheelchair were to use the shower as is, when seated in a wheelchair or shower chair (no flip down bench was provided), they would be forced to sit underneath the water while turning on the valve, without being able to adjust the temperature, thus either getting sprayed by cold water, or possibly burned by very hot water. The water pressure and temperature were also all over the place. My daughter (who is disabled and uses a wheelchair) was unable to shower while in this room. This is the legal requirement: 608.6 Shower Spray Unit and Water. A shower spray unit with a hose 59 inches (1500 mm) long minimum that can be used both as a fixed-position shower head and as a hand-held shower shall be provided. The shower spray unit shall have an on/off control with a non-positive shut-off. If an adjustable-height shower head on a vertical bar is used, the bar shall be installed so as not to obstruct the use of grab bars. Shower spray units shall deliver water that is 120°F (49°C) maximum. b. No flip down seat is provided. This is the legal requirement: 608.4 Seats. A folding or non-folding seat shall be provided in transfer type shower compartments. A folding seat shall be provided in roll-in type showers required in transient lodging guest rooms with mobility features complying with 806.2. Seats shall comply with 610. In addition to the above, the room has a horrible (moldy) odor. It was so bad that my daughter's respiratory equipment filters reek of the odor and our suitcases now smell like the room as well. Lastly, there are no towel bars of hooks of any kind in the room, which made it impossible to even hang up one towel, which were scant (certainly not enough to mop up the floor after the open shower floods the bathroom. The bedding for the day bed consisted of a bottom sheet which was already on the open bed (that also service as a couch), and a blanket left on a shelf. The (old/smelly) curtains are falling down. I understand that this is an old hotel, and that Bodega Bay is a rustic little town, but there is still NO excuse for the above violations of the ADA which has been in effect for 30 years and apparent lack of concern about the overall quality of the room and amenities. Many of the people who wrote reviews before myself do not know how to enjoy Bodega Bay. It's a small quiet town with many beautiful beaches. Why someone would stay the entire time in their room only makes me wonder what kind of people they are! The "Inn" not bed and breakfast was darling. My friend and I stayed for one night and enjoyed our entire stay. The people who worked there were very friendly. After spending a day at the beach we came back to the inn to ask if they knew of any good places to eat. We went to Sebastapol which was a wonderful suggestion. When we returned we utilized the garden and the fire pit. Everything was already set up for use. Everything was great. We met some really awesome people and feel our stay wouldn't have been complete without the Bodega Bay Inn. The only cons were that we were looking for more towels in the morning and it was difficult finding help since it was so early. read more

This place is really nice. We checked into Room 2 ( it needs a special name like, " The Fountain " room because if of the beautiful view of the courtyard along with the tranquil sound of the fountain. The room is spacious and nicely decorated with beautiful antique furniture. They have a nice help yourself kitchen downs stairs and a sun room to enjoy morning coffee with a nice homey feel. They sell bottles of wine in the lobby. There is two gift shops and a restaurant you can safely walk to, but like most places to stay in this town, walking can be dangerous. The hotel staff was very helpful as to tips where to eat and what to see. I suggest exploring the bay and coast. read more

Misleading website photos. We reserved the Lower Garden room in early Oct for mid Nov. The website photo depicted an attractively decorated room which was dog friendly. Upon checking in, we were informed that the room reserved was not dog friendly and we needed to be assigned a "non renovated" room. We assured the clerk that the reserved room had been listed as dog friendly online and that we even sent an email to confirm we were bringing a pet. We went to our newly assigned room, which was a bleak, drab room with no decor and a substandard bathroom with a maligned toilet seat. We were told only the owner could issue a refund the next day. The owner did issue a refund, but tried to reaffirm how nice this room was and that we had actual been upgraded from our original reservation. Nowhere on the Inn website were there any photos of this substandard room. read more

We had a lovely stay at Bodega Bay Inn. Easily accessible and beautifully located this a great place to rest in Bodega. However, this place definitely could use a few updates. First of all, our room advertised there was a hot tub but upon arrival the hot tub was filthy and there were no directions on how to use. Additionally, had the hot tub been working, we really would have been out of luck in terms of towels sine only two PAPER THIN towels were provided for two people for a two night stay. Seriously, put some more towels in the room! We were also only given one roll of toilet paper. Again, we were two people staying for two nights and there were no other rolls to be found!! On top of that the couch, which was comfortable, was completely leaking feathers which ended up getting everywhere. Again, we had a nice stay, but considering the cost of the room, there really should be more attention to detail. Towels and toilet paper are considered an essential part of a hotel stay and neither are too pricey to provide to guests paying that price for a room! read more

What hotel doesn't provide soap and shampoo? When we called the manager to ask for some, he did not pick up. It's 10:20pm on a Saturday. Hopefully he'll call back soon and straighten this out so I can revise my review. After waiting a while for him to call back, we walked over to his trailer (in the parking lot) and knocked on the door. He gave us what we needed, but it was awkward. Also the bathroom felt icky. After pulling in and seeing it from the outside, we would not have stayed there if we hadn't prepaid. Just stayed here one night and would not want to stay another. Stayed in Room 2, I think it's the Sonoma room, which they call there "best" room. For a cost of $300 with taxes they should be ashamed. This is not a $309 room. Nothing special about it other than it's a large room. Pros- large room, good bed, hot water was fine, updated bath. Cons- room needs a deep clean. Carpets are filthy and curtains that run across the large windows need to be taken down and cleaned or replaced. The dust along the tops are thick. Ceiling fan is the same. As noted by others, nothing in the room matches and look like they come from a flea market. Roof needs replaced as well. The whole place really needs an overhaul to make it quant, and it could really be special with the right touches. We told the young girl at check out that we were disappointed. My boyfriend had spent 2 days on a commercial fishing boat, and when I got there late last Saturday night he was ready for a hot shower and nice bed. Before we took off to travel down the coast for the extended weekend. From the harbor I asked Siri for local hotels and Bodega Bay Inn was the 1st that came up. I called to see if they had any vacancies and the absolutely wonderful, perky office person told me that they had 1 room left due to a cancellation, it was a handicapped room which gave us a larger room, large balcony and private little driveway. The room was cozy and comfey, there is a unique "common room" where there is a fridge and DVD selection that you can borrow. Large Balcony with lounge chairs. I loved everything about this place. Our room felt very comfortable and homey, and the outdoor patio had 3 types of seating. The kitchen area is cozy and the amenities (coffee, tea, fridge/freezer, and sitting space) was awesome. Bummed at first then it got better. I found this place online, called to make a reservation, booked the room 'dune grass' (it was a huge room, no closet, no dresser, the bathroom wasn't impressive and the jetted tub definetly could not fit 2 people). i was told by the young girl on the phone that the tub was big enough for 2, that the restaurant across the way (terrapin creek was reasonable in price, she stated it was about $10-15 per person). So not the case! Terrapin Creek is more like $20 per person. Luckily we were able to switch rooms and get the 'monets garden' room. I added pictures so you can see what it looks like. We definetly liked this room much better, cozy, nice breeze, bathroom was nice (shower head had no pressure but the water was nice and hot), the bed was SO comfortable, could hear the people walking up the stairs but it didn't bother us. Restaurants we went to: lucas' warf, the deli across from lucas' warf and the sandpiper, look for those reviews on here too. Overall we were happy with our stay, would definetley come back, a beautiful area, nice people that work there. Oh, also there are rooms across the way on the same lot of the inn that are cheaper called the lower creek and upper creek, they have concrete floors and are definetly smaller than the other rooms - not sure how cold it would get in there because of the concrete floors. One more thing: you have to pay for your room when you book it so be prepared to pay for it on the spot and if you need to cancel you have do it before 72 hours because then the room charge is nonrefundable. read more

I've stayed here several times, the prices are very good for the area and the rooms are a good size, plus you can't beat the location. The mattresses are firm and all of the bedding is white (which is great because you can easily tell that all of it is freshly laundered- not so much when a place puts one of those horrid floral bedspreads on- yuck). The easily accessible kitchen is quite handy, it allows you to bring some groceries in which can be very helpful in a town where there aren't a lot of good, inexpensive breakfast options, or if you can't make it somewhere for dinner (places close very early here during the week and the off season). There's many cozy spots around the Inn to just sit and relax, it's so quiet and the plants are beautiful. The only complaints I have are that it could use some updating- fresh paint and carpet, and maybe a heavier door for the Library guest room, since it's right by the check in desk and you can hear everything until they close for the night. I did stay in an upstairs room once and it was very damp, but it was also January and pretty unpleasant weather. Again, replacing the carpet and using a low sheen paint can help with that. But I have no problem staying here again- clean beds, close to town, friendly staff and half the price of the Inn at the Tides, can't beat that. read more

This place is really the worst place we stayed on our trip from Vancouver to San Francisco. We arrived at 2pm and were greeted with a scolding from the young woman at the desk. She said that check in time was 3pm. I asked if our room was ready and she didn't know and made no attempt to call to find out. Thurs out there are no phones in the rooms. She also lectured us about the need to be quiet if we used the shared kitchen. The room was tiny with a bed and one chair. There were no surfaces to put things on. No glasses were provided in the room and I had to go looking for some in the shared kitchen which was down a flight of stairs and across a dirt patio. Tiny weird smelling soap and no lotion provided. Mold growing around the bottom of the shower. The heat did not work and the manager came three times to try to make it operate. In the end, he brought an ancient dusty ceramic heater and two extra ratty blankets. The ceramic heater was very dusty and made us sneeze so we shut it off and endured. When we attempted to check out at 8am there was no one to be found in the office. The bed was okay but otherwise the place is a must miss. read more

What a delightful place to stay! Perfect location - close to all of the stores in Bodega Bay, but just off Hwy 1 on a quieter road. Easy trip to the marina and Bodega Head for nice trails and phenomenal sunsets! The staff and owner couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. I rarely saw any other guests, so it was a private, quiet couple of days there. The only challenge was sketchy internet, but I'm sure that was due to the provider, not the inn, itself. Impeccable customer service in an ideal location right next to the Bodega Bay Secret Garden where we attended a lovely wedding. Bodega Bay Inn goes above and beyond to ensure that their guests have a relaxing undisturbed stay. These people go out of their way to make your stay great. There is a genuine hospitality in how they care for their guests. We arrived two hours before the normal check-in time and they were able to accommodate us by letting us check in very early. We had a guided tour of the grounds as we were shown to our room. The room was luxurious with one of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in. The guest room was very spacious with sweeping views of the area. Our night's sleep was undisturbed as we did not hear a thing from outside. The serenity of this location is something that I wish I could have all the time. One of my best nights sleeps ever. It was disappointing to have to leave such a nice place. When we walked into our room, it felt like we were in a meat locker. The overhead fan was on high and all the windows were wide open. I suppose this was to have air circulation, but it was extreme and so not at all welcoming. It took an hour to heat the room. Small print on the bathroom door notified us that due to Covid, they didn't leave any soap or shampoo in the room and we had to go to the office to get it. There was no place to hang a towel. There was no stopper in the bathroom sink. There was no bathroom drinking glass, no phone. The hair dryer was stuck in a crack between the sinkboard and the wall. The only chair was a desk chair. They had a "common" room that was suppose to have a toaster, but we couldn't find one. This too, was wide open to the elements and freezing cold. The office didn't have any brochures or maps. There was a sign up in the common room telling us to get coffee and scones at a place across the street. They didn't have any the two times we went there. Being close to a restaurant was advertised. The place wasn't open the three days we were there. Just really minimal for the $200 a night. If they were going to be this cheap they should have lowered the price and told the truth about other amenities. We felt scammed. It should have been listed as a primitive country cabin. read more

I thought I could take a quick motorcycle ride up the cost during the stay in shelter status. When I confirmed I was not legally allowed to travel and this county's travel ban was still in place, I asked to cancel my reservation. Stayed here for a couple nights to attend a wedding at The Secret Garden (just a mile away). I shared a room with a friend. Our room was pretty big, with one king bed and a full bed. The bathroom was a good size. The room has cable, a mini refrigerator, and a heater is available as it does get cold in the room. There is a communal kitchen with a microwave, large refrigerator, plates, utensils, and coffee makers for all! The place overall was clean, cozy, and I would definitely stay here again! Tip: if you decide to stay here again as a repeat guest, owner mentioned it would be cheaper to book if you call The Bodega Bay Inn directly. read more

We stayed again in a pet friendly room but with two big dogs this year. Stephanie greeted us, got us signed in, gave us the tour and came out to meet our pups. If you're in the Bodega Bay Area and are looking for a place to stay with your dog(s)....this is the place! The staff is so accommodating and the extra attention to hospitality is apparent everywhere. Don't miss the kitchen area - it has everything you can imagine including movies to take back to your room. In the parking lot next door is the best coffee shop in Bodega Bay - Roadhouse Coffee - the most pleasant man and his daughter run the place. Give the Mexican Mocha a try!! Mini-break with the boyfriend! By god I was excited! Hotel room, beach, wine tasting. Ahhhhhh. Our "hotel" was supposedly a cute little bed and breakfast with a garden and we weren't planning on spending much time out of the room, if you know what I mean *hint hint* *nudge nudge* *wink wink*. The place was cute... until you looked closer and discovered "The Secrets of the Bodega Bay Inn"!!! Saturday, 3:05 PM: We get a tour of the place and are shown where we have breakfast. Call me crazy, but when I sign up for a b&b, I expect a little bit of cooking involved, not plain cheerios (yuck), yogurts, and toast. Though they did have Nutella... Now my man likes his food. He can put it back like a champ and I could tell what he was thinking "Shit, what has my woman got me into? Crazy bitch" Saturday, 3:15 PM: We are shown our room and start getting settled. La dee dah. Saturday, 3:23 PM: Knock knock. "I'm sorry, we put you in the wrong room." Saturday, 3:30 PM: Our new room is bigger. Sweet! In my joy, I kick the corner of the bed and crack my toenail in half. Blood everywhere and me in a sorry state. Saturday, 4:45 PM: The shower curtain rod falls on my head. Ow. Saturday Night: We realize too late that the walls are paper thin and the people at the front desk can hear everything...seriously, everything. We try muffling our sounds with the tv, but the only thing we can find is infomercials. I don't believe for a minute that it was a convincing ruse. Needless to say, it dampened the mood. Sunday, 8:30 AM: In much pain from the cavernous dip in the bed. We kept rolling toward each other in a very unromantic kind of way. My review will probably meander a bit, so I'll say up front: we liked this place. We read the reviews on Yelp before we booked here, and I can see why some of the negative reviewers had their opinion: it's a specific type a place for a specific type of clientele. If you are the type of travelers who dare their lodgings to be deficient in any way, then your mileage may vary here. If you let a place exude its personality, and that means maybe rolling with the punches a little bit - then this was a nice place to stay. We like funky, quirky places - corporate sleep farms don't do much for us. The Room: We stayed for two nights in the 'Sonoma Hills' room. It was roomy, decently appointed and open - a wall of windows would have given us a grand sunset if the weather had cooperated. We were able to wander around and peek in at the other rooms and each was differently (and nicely) appointed, with different features, so check out the photos on their website before you book. We were there Thurs-Sat, and didn't see any other guest (although we knew they were booked up for the holiday weekend) so I'd give them a gold star for making us feel like we had the place to ourselves. The Grounds: Lots of vegetation, decently landscaped. Due to the wet weather, we weren't able to spend any time out there. Other Amenities: We were shown the common kitchen. Not being a B&B, we weren't expecting much - which was a good thing. We didn't use it anyway, since we were up and out early to sight-see. Also, there is plenty of (over)priced art all around the place to look at, laugh at, and enjoy - one way or the other. Punches rolled with: Ants. We had a few who decided to cuddle with us while we slept. What can you say? It''s spring, wetter than usual, and a lush garden. Ants go forth to found new nests, and with passionflower vines outside our windows, one could expect some explorers. Management jumped on it, using natural repellents (so that we wouldn't have any chemicals in our room) and our last day appeared to be ant-free. Can't really blame the Inn for Mother Nature, eh? There are other, more detailed reviews here - so I won't be redundant. Bottom line is: for our tastes, we enjoyed the Inn, and plan on staying here again on our next visit to the Bay. Stephanie the host was so nice and accommodating . We needed a late check out and they were happy to do so. We stayed in the king patio room on the first floor. The room was spacious and clean.Nice walk-in rain shower, huge window, patio and skylights. It's great that the place is family friendly and our two kids 8 and 3 shared the full day bed. Enjoyed the common area for coffee and filtered water. Just wish they had pasties or something to offer for breakfast. Perfect location to enjoy the beach, nearby local shops and restaurants. Walking distance to a coffee shop and kite store with salt water taffy! read more

The location was great in Bodega Bay but the room was not. I wasn't expecting a fancy place and that was the case. The grounds were not kept up well. Not sure why people are raving about the dilapidated fire pit. However the person that checked us in was very nice. We stayed in an outer room. I think it was called Under The Tree or something like that. The floor was cement, no carpet. Unfortunately I had to move the nightstand to plug something in and OMG there were dust bears not bunnies. The heater was a joke! The bathroom was somewhat re-done from Home Depot, quality was not job 1. At half the price I would have been happy but not for the price we had to pay. read more

I really liked Bodega Bay Inn. Like some of the other reviewers, we were upgraded from a Creek House Room to the "Sonoma Hills" room - which boasted a wall of windows with a pretty sweet sunset view, was fairly large, and was painted like there was a hill hugging you. Pretty cool. They aren't kidding when they tell you, that the room boasts, or doesn't boast, a large flat screen TV. This room did not, it was an old school TV/VCR combo for nostalgia's sake, and they have a little library of VHS tapes, including "The Birds" ~ haha! IF TV is important, make sure to choose a room that offers the flat screen or you will be dissapointed. Since it was off season and a Friday afternoon, the other rooms weren't occupied and we took the liberty to check out all the other themed rooms (they left the doors open, and I think so people can peek in!), which were all uniquely painted and furnished. The rest of the Inn is pretty impressive - there is a communal kitchen and they have a coffee maker at each table. It's also sun-room style and the kitchen is fully stocked for snacks and breakfast. The grounds are pretty cool in that there is a huge fire pit you can hang out at if the weather permits, and I can imagine the star gazing is great in the summer. There were also some adobe looking structures between the main house and the second little "inn". All in all, it was a good, peaceful time in a beautiful landscape with nice inn keepers. My boyfriend and I ended up coming here on a cold, rainy, miserable Valentine's Day but the inn made the weekend cozy and warm for us. I went into our stay there trying to down play my expectations. I wasn't a fan of staying anywhere there didn't have at least three stars, but this place was a pleasant surprise. The popcorn and breakfast stuff was simple fare, but considering it was not a bed and breakfast, I was just happy they had the oatmeal I liked (and the boyfriend couldn't get enough of the peanut butter and nutella). The staff was super friendly and welcoming as well. TV was super small and there was vhs which cracked us up, but we had brought our own dvd and laptop to snuggle in bed with at night. We had the Monet Garden room and it was GREAT. It was super spacious. The bathroom was a bit small, but had a tub big enough for two. Sky lights there and in the bedroom with nice big windows overlooking the garden... and the parking lot haha The only complaint I had, which wasn't really that big of a deal, was that with the rain came random drips of water from the skylights over the bed. It really wasn't that bad - it didn't get us wet or drenched - we made a game of it. Also, I noticed that there were other reviews talking about how thin the walls are... I think our room was nice in that it was at the end of the hall and didn't seem to have any adjoining rooms. We didn't hear any one... and hope no one heard us! haha But if privacy is what you're looking for, then I can vouch for the Monet Garden room and say that it definitely felt private. The place was a thousand times better than in the pictures on the website. Trust me, we had a great time here. read more
