We had a 3 day stay here and a fantastic time with our lovable lab! The location was perfect for beach access anytime, day or night. We stayed in a Sandpiper cottage which had a kitchen, with a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove, toaster, and anything else you might need to cook. Our cottage had a bedroom with a queen bed and plenty of space for our Lab's bed. The bathroom was roomy with a big shower. There was also a dining table with bench seating and a sofa in front of the fireplace. Outdoors we had a table with 2 chairs on the front deck and a large private patio with seating on the side of our cottage. They also provided a hose so you could wash sand off before we went inside. The staff were very attentive to anything we needed even if it was after office hours. The restaurant was closed when we went but the store provided us with snacks, coffee, and sweet treats. Wonderful restaurants were nearby so it worked out for us. Looking forward to a return trip. read more

We stayed on the end, so our veiw was amazing, wake up and enjoy a big window of the beach... It was also a little more roomy then some of the other small houses, since this was a 2 wide, or double... we had 4 people and felt just right. Anysmaller and I think we would have driven each other crazy, since we were there for several days... We love the location. This was our second time back with our Lab, we enjoy the peaceful and dog friendly environment. The restraunt on the property is excellent, we love love their burgers and garlic fries. The on property market is pretty good, slightly pricey but it can be worth it when you need what you need. It's great to be able to walk down to the beach every morning with your dog and let them run off leash. If you are a dog lover, this is the place. If you're not a dog lover this is also the place. Been camping at Lawson's since the early 90's but a spontaneous overnight trip meant we needed to find another option. We were lucky to snag a cottage here. Staff super friendly. Bright and open floor plan with beachy decor. Opened the door to a clean, open and bright rental. Nice welcoming touches noted included soft background music, a personalized welcome note and flowers. Our add-ons were also awaiting us in our room. The views are amazing. They have thought of everything. Chairs, blankets, picnic tables, fireplace, kitchenette. The General Store is a bit pricey but has a great selection and so convenient. Can't wait to come back and stay a little longer. read more

Items were priced decently. ° Their restaurant, The Coastal Kitchen, had really good clam chowder and fish n chips (pictures on my review of CK). THE BAD ° The fireplace almost seemed like it was more for looks than actual heat. - but you can turn on the thermostat and it will heat the cottage THE UGLY ° The sliding interior doors were god awful! - It didn't have a bottom guide rail and the "lock" was moreso to stop it from sliding. - Which btw, the doors would slide open by themselves (not leveled correctly?) if they could fix the door issue, I'd likely give 5 stars. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my family's recent stay at Dillon Beach Resort was so disappointing -- and frankly unsafe and unaccommodating -- that I feel compelled to warn others. We booked a prepaid two-night stay and only stayed one night because of serious safety concerns. The property has a cliffside area with inadequate fencing/barriers, and as a parent of small children I felt it was dangerous. Whether or not it meets the bare minimum of building code, it did not feel safe for my kids, and that should matter to any resort that claims to be family-friendly. We cut our trip short because of this and left early, but when I raised it with the resort afterward, I was met with a defensive, legalistic response and refusing any refund or even good will gesture. Unfortunately, that attitude was consistent with the way staff treated us during the stay: * Unwelcoming in the market: staff were curt and dismissive when I was in the market with my young children. * Dog unfriendly despite charging $150 pet fee: instead of amenities or accommodations, I was handed a roll of poop bags. On top of that, I was actually peed on by another guest's dog on the property. The "resorts" response was "well we're pet friendly so it happens." * Chores at "resort" prices: we were required to do our own dishes and take out the trash before leaving -- not what you expect when paying high nightly resort rates. The whole experience left us feeling unwelcome and taken advantage of. They also charge some kind of resort fee that is totally unwarranted considering this is a glorified airbnb at best. This resort positions itself as family- and pet-friendly, but in reality it felt unsafe for kids, unaccommodating to dog owners, and extremely overpriced for what you actually get. We had looked forward to a relaxing getaway and instead left early, frustrated, and out a significant amount of money for a night we didn't even use. If you value safety, service, and hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had. read more

Nice location with nice view, but for the price I expect more luxury. Convenient that there is a store and restaurant on site but I have some cons. Convenience store is extremely overpriced tiny bubbles that could be from the Dollar Store are $8 there. Restaurant is open Friday-Sunday so wasn't even able to make it to dine there. There isn't someone at the office 24/7 so if you need something in the house they aren't working it sucks. Our batteries died in our controller for the tv so we had to wait the next day until 10am to get some. The pots and pans are Nonstick pans full of scratches. They provide salt and pepper, but no oil. The dishware is metal & plastic so you can't use the microwave for that. I had to microwave in the glass cups then transfer to the plate. Outside of the Coho cottage is the walk way view which is kinda on a cliff.. there is a 2 panel fence but there should be 3 panels - if you have toddlers or small kids they can easily fall under if walking too close. You must watch your children closely here because of that. In the Coho cottage the steps to the upper floor are very steep, I'd only recommend adults sleep up there. Children could get hurt badly with a fall. There's no AC. Just to keep all these things in mind. read more

WOW, is this the first ever review?! Right to the point! Awesome! We rented the Coho tiny house option! Two adults and two teenagers, 16 & 15yo, guy and girl! Can't forget about my third, my bike. The space was great, the kids stayed upstairs and adults down. Bathroom is perfect, kitchen is a one person space, we were average sized & healthy adults for reference. The kitchen is well stocked, we wish we had cleaning supplies to make the sink and counter smell fresh. Coffee pour over was a new and a fun experience. The living room area is great too. The TV is a bit small, but the view to the left far makes up for it and who is there for TV anyways? Staff, Casie, was excellent, if we needed something and we did, she was on it with a smile. The General store is fun and stocked with all the fun items, priced a bit higher and that sure makes sense considering. We brought our own food and planned well, the teenagers enjoyed getting something new and fun at the store. Walk to the beach is easy and great for walks. Dogs all over the place and fun to watch them run wild. Are the tiny homes pricey, yup, they are. We took the trip as the experience as a whole; staying in a tiny home, the store, the beach, the weather and the view. Consider some of the smaller homes, which my wife and I will in the future! Fun, family- friendly place to stay at small beach town Dillon Beach. If you enjoy unique experiences such as tiny home living, this is ideal especially for kids. What kids don't like being by the beach? Mind you, there isn't a whole lot to do besides spend time at the beach so a weekend trip would suffice as there's not much else in the area. I booked a two night stay (a little over $1000) in a Coho Cottage, which is the second to largest of their tiny home models. It also faces the beach so you have a nice view. It sleeps 7 as there are 2 queens, a sofa bed and a twin. It was just my husband, son and I so my husband took the room with the queen. Of course my son wanted to sleep in the loft where there was another queen and a twin. It's fun for kids. However, you have to hunch down/crawl when you're in the loft or you'll bump your head on the ceiling (even my 4 year old had to hunch down). The bathroom was clean but the shower floor tiles smooth and can be slippery. The coastal cabin decor was super cute and newish. Beds were comfortable. They have an electric fireplace which was nice. Hulu and another streaming service (I forgot) was available on the TV. A full kitchen is available with everything you could possibly need. The pots, pans, tableware, glassware were high quality and in new condition. There was also a full size fridge, gas stove, microwave and toaster. Equator coffee was included in the kitchen and it was so nice to have drip coffee each morning looking out at the beach. I highly recommend bringing your own food to cook some of the meals, since there's only one restaurant at the resort called the Coastal Kitchen. They had a good menu but very limited. We ordered food at the CK once during our stay and brought it back to our tiny home to eat. The clam chowder and shrimp tacos were my fav. Just outside of our cabin, there were 2 patio chair and a picnic table. There were also water bowls for dogs if you brought one or two. A hose is also available which proved to be useful after the beach for housing down sandy Beach toys and sandals. There was also an area with grills for those who wanted to bbq. You are required to take out your own garbage to the designated trash and recycling bins. The Dillon Beach Resort General Store is where you check in. There, they'll give you a free soft serve ice cream for staying at the resort. It's a cute little shop with souvenirs/gifts, limited grocery items, beverages, snacks, apparel and toys. Everything there was expensive, so BYO food/drinks if you can. Since we came prepared, we didn't have to purchase any food items but my husband bought a DBR hoodie and my son got a hackey sack. The young ladies that worked there were pleasant and helpful. Overall, fun stay. The beach can be cold and foggy so check the weather before booking. The location is close to Petaluma so it can be like a staycation for people from the Bay. You don't have to drive too far but it's far enough to get away. read more

Please be aware that this hotel is not family-friendly. We had planned to stay 4 nights and explore the nearby attractions during the day, but we couldn't even make it through one night. It started with the reception, which doesn't operate until 4 p.m. If no one is there after that, you have to call - but with no cell service in the area, that's impossible. We had booked two Cypress cottages for four nights. The layout turned out to be with beds in loft areas. The kids loved climbing the ladder up and down, but it was high and quite dangerous, even for an adult. The restaurant only operates Thursday through Saturday from 12 to 7 p.m., so we had to bring most of our food. The fridge was small, so it wasn't possible to store much. Luckily, since we had two cottages, we had two fridges. There was no space to prepare or dry dishes at the same time, so all the food had to be microwaveable. This didn't match the "luxury" experience the hotel tries to sell. The store had no ready-to-eat meals, and even yesterday's bread was three times the usual price. Essentially, you're forced to bring your own food or drive long distances to restaurants through winding roads. The final straw was when my son walked out of the cottage and immediately fell down the stairs. Thankfully, he wasn't seriously hurt, but I almost fell as well. The porch in front of the door was tiny, barely a few inches wider than the door itself. What also disappointed me was the residential houses directly across from the cottages. It didn't feel safe to step outside with the kids in the evening. I regret being misled by the beautiful photos on the website and Instagram, and not checking the area more carefully on Google Maps. read more

Our first time at Dillon Beach Resort and not our last. What a wonderful experience. We booked one of the Coho cottages, new group of cottages and tiny homes at the resort. We visited friends who stayed last year, but with the improvements, it was much better. The cottages are decorated nicely and with care. Retro is the theme and it must definitely works. We had a separate bedroom and a loft upstairs. An extra bonus is that it is dog friendly. Almost everyone staying there has a dog. I loved everything about the cottage. They thought of everything. The kitchen is stocked with necessary items for cooking. There is a community area with seating and bbqs to use. Picnic tables outside the cottages along with a pair of Adirondack chairs to enjoy the nightly sunset. An easy walk to the beach and each cottage has a hose outside to clean yourself and the dogs. Just bring yourself and enjoy the amenities. The Coastal Kitchen serves great food. The check in is located inside the market where they sell food snacks and anything you might need. Don't forget to try the salted caramel soft serve. Best I've ever had. All the staff, whether it was on the phone or in person were extreme helpful and accommodating. This place is absolutely adorable and well maintained. But it is not well suited for mature or refined travelers. It's seems best for families with kids. We took off a star because of the noise and lack of privacy. While there is a beautiful picture window with amazing views of the beach and ocean, the common area in front of our cabin was generally full of unsupervised children and off leash dogs. Also, the cabins are close together so we could hear our neighbors at night partying, kids crying, dogs barking, etc. Our dog struggled at times with all of the commotion/noise. We also took a star off because the restaurant and general store have a very limited menu/selection. Also, we could not imagine more than 2 adults staying in the coho cottage. The loft space has very limited head space. We used the loft and stairs to store our luggage. Because the cabins are so cute, and the staff was so nice, we will likely return during the off-season on weekdays to avoid kids and bring our own food. read more

I love Dillon Beach and try to go a few times a year. They allow dogs (under voice control) at both the beach and to stay at the resort. Pros: just a short walk to beach, quiet, beautiful surroundings, not crowded with tourists, the tiny home cabins are adorable with decent yet simple amenities, and the general store has plenty to choose from. Cons: the restaurant is NOT open about half the week, there is only one restaurant within a 15 min drive, the patios are not private so people and dogs would come in, and it's a little pricy for such basic accommodations. Overall, it was worth it because we needed a couple days at the beach and I love letting the dog enjoy the beach as much as we do. read more

This is literally the cutest, nicest, most serene mini home I've ever stayed in! We were lucky no one else was staying at the resort, that we knew of, and ended up having the entire patio to ourselves! The view from the room was amazing! I wish I could have stayed longer! Everything within the mini home was modern and updated--reminded me of a Magnolia Home/Johana and Chip Gains remodel. It was perfect for two people and we never felt cramped. There's a sofa bed and actual bedroom--we opted for the sofa bed since it has the million dollar view of the ocean. There's a General Store selling basic necessities, but I suggest planning ahead and bringing food to cook. There's a full kitchen/fridge/pots/pans (bring oil and spices!) so you're able to make whatever your heart desires. They also offer nightly meals from their coastal kitchen, although you'll need to pre-order a day in advance by 5pm, they should reach out to you via email to let you know what they plan on serving. We decided to cook during our stay but maybe next time we'll opt to order food. Their fried chicken dinner looked really good. Everyone on the property was extremely friendly! The young lady working at the General Store who helped me check in was extremely nice and there was another young woman walking the property, possibly the owner, who stopped to greet us and make sure we were doing ok as the power had gone out the night before for a few hours. She apologized for not reaching out to us that night and seemed very genuine and friendly. Dillon beach is literally a three minute walk from the beach and everyone there was extremely friendly! They also allow dogs and have restrooms available near the entrance. Beach parking was $10/day--although it may be free for people staying at the resort? (FYI-Hotel parking is free) Overall, I'd most definitely stay here again! You just can't beat waking up to the sounds of the ocean--or watching the sunset every night from your room. Everything was extremely clean and I was thoroughly impressed! I do suggest bringing extra flashlights/lanterns if you plan on walking around at night or just incase the power goes out. The General Store closes around 6pm (hours: 8am-6pm) in the wintertime so no there's no one on the property to reach out to. They provide you with one flashlight--but it's always better to be over prepared. So glad i stumbled upon this gem while browsing farmhouse home decor on Instagram--what are the chances! read more

I've been eyeballing this resort for a few months. It's must be new, as I've found very little reviews for it. I almost don't want to review it because I don't want it to blow up, and become too popular for me to stay again! To start, the location is excellent. It's walking distance to beautiful Dillon beach. The cottage we got was beautiful, Very well decorated. It's cozy, and by cozy I mean tiny. You get a little kitchen, a small deck, small living area and loft sleeping area. I believe we got a cypress cottage. It's comfortable for two, we came for the beach so we did very little lounging in our room. There is a great store with everything you need, meals snacks wine beer coffee and so on. The restaurant on site had great food and is walking distance from the cottage. The kitchen has a fridge, stove, microwave and kitchen wear. It's nice to be able to whip up you're own meal. Do bring your own spices, cooking oil and condiments. Forget something? The store will 100% have it. It's definitely cozy but tolerable. Very clean and comfortable. Can't wait to come back again soon. It's the perfect weekend getaway. read more

Just not worth the price. The negatives: -ZERO HOSPITALITY or customer service -NO PRIVACY. All cabins are facing a walkway, so the large window that faces the ocean has people in front of it staring in at you all day. AND the cabins are right next to each other, so the windows on the sides look into the other cabins. -BROKEN STOVETOP. There weren't any open restaurants, so we had to cook every meal. However, the stovetop was broken. And there was no oven. We couldn't cook anything! -MICE. There was mouse poop in the common area in the morning. -BATHROOM FANS BROKEN -NO BASIC FOOD AMENITIES. Such as salt, pepper, sugar, oil, etc. -METAL DISHWARE that can't go in microwave. Our only option for cooking. -The heater is so loud it shakes the entire cabin. You can't have it on long. Or watch a movie while it's on. -$500+ per night and we had to do the cleaning and take out the garbage before we left. (They fine you if there's dirty dishes or garbage left there). And there's not even all purpose cleaner or necessities to clean. The positives: -great location for surfers -a short walk down to the beach -General store where you Check in that has food and bev you can buy, but it's crazy expensive. -The cabins look cute inside... but very pottery barn. -watching sunset from the cabin is pretty. Overall, just not worth the price. It severely lacks any kind of hospitality that makes you feel welcome, especially given all the negatives. It's simply a money generator and nothing else. This was without question the worst customer service I've ever received. My girlfriend and I booked a room through hotels.com. After booking a room my girlfriend called to confirm that we would be bringing our service dog with us. The hotel stated that they would be charging for the animal. This is a documented animal approved through both medical and governmental agencies. Charging for this was illegal but we determined we would bring all of the paperwork on our visit to demonstrate the certification of the animal. Shortly thereafter my girlfriend contracted the coronavirus and we were unable to attend at all (she's fine now, I never got sick form it so all good!). The hotel would not allow us to cancel or reschedule. This hotel was willing to break laws around service animals. This hotel was willing to risk the safety of all guests by forcing a couple exposed to the coronavirus to come despite verifiably being sick. The is the worst customer service I have ever received and I vehemently ask everybody who ever considers the Dillon Beach Resort as a place to visit reconsider. They do not care about you, they have no sympathy. read more

Beautiful on the outside, cheap on the inside... I was excited to stay at Dillon Beach Resort to celebrate my birthday, a place I had been eyeing for a while. My family of four booked a Coho cottage, which is the largest tiny home on property, and has a full ocean view. We arrived and thought the space was well designed, loved the view, and access to Coastal Kitchen for food. We thought it was weird the photos on their website don't show the Coho Cottages wedged between two rundown trailers, but hey, the view and it was my birthday! We even talked about how we should return for a 3-day weekend the next time. I always read through a hotel or vacation rental's instructions for the 'do's and don'ts' and make sure we stick to them. We had a great weekend and come check out, we made sure to take out the trash (you get fined $100 if you don't), wash and put away the dishes (you get fined $100 if you don't) and everything was in order. We left the keys and parking pass as instructed (you get fined if you don't) and set off home happy. A day later I notice a charge for $74 on my credit card. It was strange because we didn't charge anything to the room and we left the house SPOTLESS (even with a dog!). I reached out because I thought it was an error and received a screenshot of a text message between employees about some "gross" throw pillow we supposedly destroyed. Upon inspection, it looks like the white paint used to stamp "DBR" on the pillow. Ah, what a way to kill the vibe and a return customer. That throw pillow was stored for our stay, but somehow we now own it (please ship it to me because I paid $74 for it). Instead of reaching out proactively to say hey, we found this, do you know anything about it, they move forward like we're guilty and think $74 is more valuable than a lasting customer/future referral. So the moral of the story. If you want to spend $700/night and get nickeled and dimed, this is a good place for you. Or make sure to photo document all aspects of your tiny house on arrival and departure. I wonder if I can get some $$ back for the dirty bathroom sliding door that hasn't been cleaned in months. This place needs to take some hospitality management classes - most independent hotels we stay at don't accuse and charge you if a fork is misplaced, but I'm sure this place would. read more

This place is pure magic! My husband and I visited the week after Thanksgiving with our 2 pups. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the water every day was so special. We loved walking down to the beach to let the dogs run around as well. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Marla went above and beyond to assist us with upgrading to a bigger unit upon arrival.
